Mitch McConnell set a new standard by blocking a vote on President Obama's Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland until after the 2016 election and the Senate should be consistent. Unlike President Obama, Trump is a scandal-plagued president who won his election under a cloud of foreign interference on his behalf and he has shown an inclination to go with the most extreme policies and nominees at every turn. The American people deserve a chance to speak via the democratic process before any new Supreme Court nominee is considered.
