Breitbart: FRC Not Anti-Gay, Only Opposes Same-Sex Marriage

John Nolte at Breitbart is upset that CNN called the Family Research Council an “anti-gay” group, explaining: “The anti-Christian CNN chose to cover Friday's Values Voters Summit with a chyron that blasted the three-day gathering of social and religious conservatives activists as ‘anti-gay.’ Unless there is something else going on I'm unaware of, CNN is smearing this organization as anti-gay based only on their opposition to same-sex marriage -- a position President Obama held until last year.”

Oh really?

The FRC’s president Tony Perkins lauded Uganda’s law which made homosexuality a crime punishable by death or life imprisonment, warned that the government will promote gay relationships to further “population control and called gay rights advocates “pawns” of Satan.

The group’s senior fellow Peter Sprigg said that homosexuality should be outlawed and gay people exported and its prayer coordinator urged members to pray in favor of Malawi’s ban on homosexuality.

So yes, “there is something else going on” at the FRC.

Kuhner: Polling That Shows GOP At Record Lows Proves GOP Is Winning

Conservative columnist Jeffrey Kuhner claims that polling showing the GOP’s popularity dropping to record lows is proof that Republicans are winning the government shutdown fight. Writing for the Washington Times today, Kuhner said that the disastrous polling numbers are all part of a big plan to “win the Obamacare war.”

How?

The Tea Party, of course!

He claims that even though most Americans oppose of the GOP’s attempt to link Obamacare funding to the shutdown, Kuhner says that most Americas actually love Republican anti-Obamacare zeal and the Tea Party.

However, the Tea Party has just a 21 percent approval rating, a poorer showing than even the GOP’s historically low 24 percent.

“The Tea Party represents the rebirth of Reagan conservatism, and the last time the GOP embraced Reaganism, they won consecutive landslide elections,” Kuhner writes. “The Republican moment is approaching.”

Republicans are on the verge of again becoming the majority party. The conventional wisdom is that the GOP is taking the brunt of the public blame for the partial government shutdown. In the short term, that is true. In the long term, however, the Republicans are on the verge of a major triumph. They will lose the shutdown battle, but win the Obamacare war.

By confronting President Obama on defunding or delaying his signature health care law, the GOP-controlled House of Representatives finally made a stand. Mr. Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid are in no rush to end the government shutdown. The reason is obvious: They want to prolong the pain, thereby hoping to direct public anger against the House Republicans. The liberal elite media have peddled the narrative that the Tea Party is responsible for the shutdown. Democrats have resorted to calling Republicans every name in the book — terrorists, anarchists, suicide-bombers and right-wing extremists. The only thing they haven’t called Tea Party conservatives — yet — are Satanists.

For Democrats, Obamacare is the blunder of a generation. It is their law; they own it — lock, stock and barrel. There is a fierce battle against it because of deep popular opposition. Mr. Obama is paying the price for ramming the law down the throats of Congress and the American people. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid — every prior major modern entitlement program has had substantial bipartisan support. This was done to ensure a level of political consensus and social stability when implementing sweeping change.

Obamacare, however, was different. It was passed without a single GOP vote. Every Republican idea — purchasing insurance across state lines, the need for tort reform, stripping out the death panels, abolishing taxpayer funding of abortions and contraception, and eliminating the punishing tax on medical devices — was rejected. It was Obamacare that spawned the birth of the Tea Party.

Mr. Obama’s health care overhaul represents liberalism’s fatal overreach. Most Americans despise it, and the more they find out about Obamacare, the more they hate it. It is a significant reason why the president’s job approval has sunk to 37 percent — and will continue to plummet. The most enduring memory the electorate will have is of Republicans shutting down the government in order to thwart the oncoming disaster. The GOP is being rebranded right in front of our eyes. They are standing as the defenders of small government, fiscal sanity and individual freedom. The Tea Party represents the rebirth of Reagan conservatism, and the last time the GOP embraced Reaganism, they won consecutive landslide elections.

The Republican moment is approaching.

Mark Levin: Obama Needs To 'Sit Down And Shut Up'

Conservative talk show host Mark Levin today sat down with Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council for an interview at the Values Voter Summit, where Levin claimed that President Obama, Congress and the Supreme Court, due to the court’s decisions on gay marriage, are imposing “tyranny.”

At the end of the discussion, Levin said he thinks Obama needs to “sit down and shut up.”

Ted Cruz Jokes Obama Will Try To Kidnap Him

Ted Cruz spent most of his speech at the Values Voter Summit getting drowned out by immigration hecklers in the crowd, whom he claimed were “Obama’s paid political operatives.”

But there was no doubt he was the darling of the Religious Right, as before he even started his speech he “received the blessing” of a supporter who shouted out: “If God is for you then who can be against you?”

Cruz claimed that the Obama administration is “determined to violate every single one of our Bill of Rights,” including the 3rd amendment on the quartering of soldiers in homes. He even joked that the White House may soon try to kidnap him.

Rios: Gays Wanting To Become Scoutmasters, Big Brothers Proves They Seek To Abuse Children

American Family Association talk show host Sandy Rios this week once again connected the gay community to child abuse, this time telling Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality that the fact gay people want to serve as Scoutmasters or Big Brothers or Big Sisters is “big proof” they are pedophiles.

LaBarbera, whose upcoming AFTAH banquet will feature Rios as the keynote speaker, didn’t dispute her claim, and argued that “homosexuality itself is immoral behavior so we would expect one sin to have other sins lead to it, and that’s exactly what we find.”

LaBarbera: All these things: pedophilia; sadism; masochism, are overrepresented in the homosexual movement then it would be in the rest of culture.

Rios: I guess one big proof that we should have some concern, the activists’ hell-bent determination to make sure that Boy Scout leaders can be gay men and that Big Brothers and Big Sisters can be—well they’ve succeeded with that—Big Brothers and Big Sisters now has no — that’s fine with them, with that organization, that a person be gay or a lesbian and be a Big Brother or Big Sister. Now they are really determined to make sure they break down Boy Scouts completely, they’ve succeeded to some extent. But that to me indicates an interest of older people being with younger people. I don’t know, am I rushing to a conclusion on that Peter?

LaBarbera: First of all, homosexuality itself is immoral behavior so we would expect one sin to have other sins lead to it, and that’s exactly what we find. We both know, we’ve been around a long time and we know these stories of so-called gay men who had child abuse in their own past, their own upbringing, and incredibly they make no connection between the pedophilia they experienced as boys and girls, some of them, and their adult gay identity. Common sense would say that’s wrong but sadly there’s this thing in the movement.

Ex-Gay Activists: Gays Oppressing Ex-Gays Just As Nazis Persecuted Jews

Three speakers at August’s pitiful Ex-Gay Pride rally recently appeared on a podcast, Deeper Waters, to explain how ex-gays in America like themselves are just like the Jews living under Nazi Germany. Deeper Waters hosted PFOX’s Greg Quinlan, Douglas McIntyre of Homosexuals Anonymous and Grace Harley, who says she is ex-transgender.

“The Lord brought to me the Jewish Holocaust in my prayer time and it brought tears to my eyes, because He said, ‘as the Jewish people were being victimized, demonized, demonized to the point that all the Germans and all the people started believing and accepting it, guess what folks? That’s happening here in America,” Harley said, with Quinlan in agreement. “Ex-gay people like myself — we are being so demonized and hated and this is your God they’re hating.”

“Jesus did not walk into one voting booth and pull the lever for the current administration,” Harley exclaimed.

Later in the program, McIntyre also compared the plight of ex-gays to that of Jews under Nazism: “I took a tour of the Holocaust Museum and I went through the early years and looked at exactly the same techniques of lying, suppression and propaganda were exercised there as are being played out today, almost word for word.”

Quinlan likened the impact of the gay rights movement, which he described as demonic, to the wreckage of a tornado hitting a town. “We have lost our country,” he lamented.

“We have something they will never have, we have a victorious Christ, all they have is a defeated Devil,” Quinlan said. “We can win this but we have to take back our culture.”

Harley claimed that many gay people who are “determined to go to Hell with their father, they are literally determined to go with Satan, and realize there are a lot of homosexuals that are in the occult.”

Moments later, Harvey said that Obama has “homosexual orientation tendencies,” proving that we are in the Last Days: “The spirit will not dwell with us too much longer because we truly are in the End Times. Any time you have the head of a country with homosexual orientation tendencies, and I say that because Jesus said, ‘if you look at a woman with lust you have committed adultery,’ if you have the heart of the homosexual in your heart and your mind then you are without even committing the act, you are there. We have countries, or America—it’s devastating what’s going on.”

Who's Who At The Values Voter Summit 2013

by Brian Tashman and Miranda Blue

Republicans and Religious Right activists are set to come together this weekend at the Values Voter Summit, the Family Research Council conference where politicians will push the right-wing line regarding the government shutdown, Obamacare, gay rights and the supposed end of freedom.

As Peter noted, “Religious Right’s leaders are working to merge their activists’ anti-abortion and anti-gay zeal with the anti-government extremism of the Tea Party” and even “give the Tea Party’s agenda a biblical foundation.”

Ted Cruz and Rand Paul will be the event’s biggest speakers, along with Republican congressmen Paul Ryan, Michele Bachmann, Louie Gohmert, Jim Bridenstine, Scott Turner, Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan.

These GOP officials will speak alongside some of the most radical figures in the conservative movement:

Tony Perkins

Tony Perkins is president of the Family Research Council, the main organizer of this weekend’s summit. Perkins leads the group’s efforts against gay rights, abortion rights and church/state separation. The FRC has one of the most anti-gay platforms of any major political organization, including expressions of support for the criminalization of homosexuality in the U.S. and abroad in countries law Malawi and Uganda. Perkins himself frequently reflects the extreme views of his organization. He:

  • Compared homosexuality to alcoholism and called gay rights advocates “pawns” of Satan.
  • Lamented the ties between Democrats and the “Jewish lobby.”
  • Attacked Islam as an “evil” religion.

Jerry Boykin

Family Research Council vice president and retired Army Lt. Gen. William “Jerry” Boykin sparked a controversy when, as a high-ranking official in the Bush Defense Department, he framed the War on Terror as a holy war against Islam. He has since built a career as a Religious Right speaker, specializing in anti-Muslim rhetoric and anti-Obama conspiracy theories. He:

E.W. Jackson

The Virginia Republican nominee for Lt. Governor, E.W. Jackson is a longtime activist who has likened the Democratic Party to the Antichrist, said Planned Parenthood is worse than the Ku Klux Klan , suggested Obama is a Muslim and demonic, and fought desegregation efforts. Jackson’s most pernicious rhetoric has focused on LGBT people. He has:

  • Referred to gays and lesbians as “perverted,” “degenerate,” “spiritually darkened” and “frankly very sick people psychologically, mentally and emotionally.”
  • Said homosexuality is connected to pedophilia and that homosexuality also “poisons culture, it destroys families, it destroys societies; it brings the judgment of God unlike very few things that we can think of.”

Brian Brown

Brian Brown is the president of the National Organization for Marriage, the funding machine behind anti-marriage-equality measures throughout the country. Fighting an increasingly losing battle at home, Brown has set his sights abroad, supporting French anti-gay activists and testifying before the Russian Duma in favor of a law banning adoption by gay couples and single people in countries that allow marriage equality. He is also a vocal supporter of the World Congress of Families, an Illinois-based group that supports anti-gay measures throughout the world. Back at home, Brown has:

Mat Staver

Mat Staver is the head of the Liberty University School of Law and its legal affiliate, Liberty Counsel, a sponsor of the Values Voter Summit. Liberty Counsel has been implicated in the Lisa Miller kidnapping case, where a client kidnapped her daughter and fled to Central America after a court granted custody to her former partner. At a previous Values Voter Summit, Staver claimed that progressives are using LGBT rights and secular government in order to “ultimately implode America” and that the “agenda of the homosexual movement” is to destroy freedom and western civilization. Through his role at Liberty Counsel, Staver has:

Joseph Farah

Joseph Farah is the editor-in-chief of the conspiracy theory clearinghouse WorldNetDaily and a friend of Sen. Rand Paul. He most recently worked with Michele Bachmann on a 9/11 prayer event which he claimed was “our last chance” to save America from God’s judgment, which includes homosexuality, terrorism and President Obama. Farah:

Todd Starnes

Fox News commentator Todd Starnes has become notorious for filing false reports based on right-wing conspiracy theories, which of course makes him a favorite “journalist” among conservative activists. Starnes has also:

  • Said that defeats for anti-gay activists are a sign of “the end of days.”

Sandy Rios

The former Concerned Women for America president is now a radio talk show host on American Family Radio, the network led by the American Family Association. Like other AFA hosts, she promotes right-wing conspiracy theories, including claims that Obama was not born in America and is actually from Kenya, resettled thousands of Palestinian refugees in the US and exempted Muslim-Americans from Obamacare. Rios will be a good fit for the anti-gay conference as she:

  • Compared same-sex couples to the relationships kidnapper Ariel Castro had with his captives.
  • Warned the “homosexual takeover” of the military will jeopardize the effectiveness of the military.

Rick Scarborough

A leading Religious Right organizer based in Texas, Rick Scarborough of Vision America claims he is fighting the country’s supposed decline. Scarborough has said that it is “sad” to see “more non-white families” in America, claimed that the growing Latino population will destroy America and blamed societal ills on shows such as The Simpsons and The Big Bang Theory. He even said that the Benghazi attack occurred as a result of the country being “mired in sin.” But that’s not all.  Scarborough:

  • Demanded that people only refer to gays and lesbians as “sodomites.”

Janet Porter

Ohio-based activist Janet Porter opposes abortion rights, gay equality and now Obamacare, which she says will be used tomurderconservatives. She asked God to stop Obama from being sworn in as president and prayed for right-wing Christians to take control over the media and the government, because she:

Frank Gaffney

Anti-Muslim activist and birther Frank Gaffney believes that Islamic extremists have infiltrated the conservative movement, the FBI, the CIA, the State Department, and the White House. He most recently has:

  • Pushed the conspiracy theory that the US knew beforehand about the chemical weapons attack in Syria as a pretext to intervene .

Glenn Beck

Where do we even begin?

Robertson Pushes Discredited Conspiracy Theory To Blame WHO Polio Experiment For AIDS

Today on the 700 Club, Pat Robertson pushed a discredited conspiracy theory about HIV/AIDS. Robertson, who earlier insisted that gay people use special rings to spread AIDS, claimed that AIDS was a result of a polio experiment gone wrong:

“I think the World Health Organization was doing some experiment in the Congo on a monkey virus, a monkey injection to fight polio and it wasn’t an injection, they put it in sugar cubes and they gave it to these Africans, a couple hundred thousand in the test,” Robertson said.

“This is the first time when monkey diseases crossed into the human condition and out of that has come this terrible thing. It seems to be transmitted so often through sexual contact and it was rife in the homosexual community but has then jumped into the heterosexual community.”

However, David Oshinsky writes in Polio: An American Story:

The charge that humans acquired HIV from these [polio] trials remains, for most experts, an empty accusation, made more improbably by recent studies that found no detectable traces of chimpanzee DNA in frozen stocks of [Hilary] Koprowski’s vaccine. The results, said one group of researchers, “should finally lay the OPV/AIDS theory to rest.”

A report published in Nature, cited by Slate’s Juliet Lapidos, also refuted the allegation:

Edward Hooper, a British journalist, argued in his 1999 book, The River, that Dr. Hilary Koprowski of the Wistar Research Institute unintentionally caused the AIDS epidemic by using chimp kidneys to produce an oral polio vaccine. The chimps, says Hooper, were infected with SIV (the simian precursor to AIDS). Then, via an experimental mass-vaccination program in the Belgian Congo, SIV made the jump from monkey to man.

Hooper's contaminated polio vaccine thesis sounds less wacky than most conspiracy theories and has attracted support from a few notable academics—including late Oxford professor W.D. Hamilton. But it's definitely wrong. Hooper says Koprowski got his kidney samples from chimps in the Congo. The problem is that the SIV strain endemic to chimps from that region is phylogenetically distinct from HIV. The offending chimps probably came from Cameroon.

Thomas Maugh II of the Los Angeles Times wrote back in 2001 that four separate research groups found no evidence to back up the conspiracy theory:

The controversial idea that a contaminated polio vaccine was responsible for the spread of AIDS in Africa has been discredited by new research released today.

"The new data may not convince the hardened conspiracy theorist who thinks that contamination of [the vaccine] was subsequently and deliberately covered up," he said. "But those of us who were formerly willing to give some credence to the . . . hypothesis will now consider that the matter has been laid to rest." Dr. Hilary Koprowski, who conducted the tests on behalf of the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia, said he was very happy with the findings.

"I never believed one word of the accusations because there were no facts," he said. "What bothered me was that somehow this may have created a difficulty in eradicating polio" because some people would refuse to be immunized for fear of contracting AIDS.

"With these articles putting an end to any possibility that vaccination had anything to do with AIDS, I hope that the [polio] eradication campaign will be [successfully completed] in two to three years."

Koprowski and others have said all along that the vaccines were prepared using only the cells of monkeys, which do not carry HIV, and that chimpanzee cells were not used. The new findings, appearing in today's Nature and Friday's Science, confirm their claim.

The new studies show that "all the viruses were grown on monkey cells, which is what was claimed initially," said Clayton Buck, chief executive and acting director of Wistar. "As far as I am concerned, the issue is really put to rest for all practical purposes."

Four separate groups in England, France, Germany and Sweden have now examined vaccine samples removed from freezers at Wistar, looking at the DNA of the viruses and the cells in which they were grown. In all cases, the cells were found to be only from rhesus or macaque monkeys and the only virus present was the polio virus.

Wistar no longer had samples of one vaccine preparation, called CHAT 10A-11 that Hooper thought to be the most suspect. But an original vial of the batch was found at Britain's National Institute for Biological Standards and Control. It too was found to contain only monkey cells and polio virus.

Farah: Government May Deny Health Care To Create Society Of 'Dependency And Serfdom'

Taking a page from Bryan Fischer, WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah claims that Democrats will use the Affordable Care Act to deny Americans health care so people can never “say no to Washington in the future” because they will be “dependent on government to see a doctor.”

Farah calls for the government to be shut down as long as possible in order to prevent this looming “future dependency and serfdom.”

“In some future conflict within government, how will Americans feel about being deprived of life-saving health care?” Farah asks. “In a future dispute over what deserves funding and what doesn’t, is it hard to imagine another Harry Reid holding Americans hostage by using the government’s monopoly on health care and threatening to shut all medical services down?”

The childish, predictably actions of Obama in scaring Americans and making them feel discomfort during this partial government shutdown only illustrate clearly to anyone with half a brain that this old adage is a truism that applies to the very source of this political showdown.

In some future conflict within government, how will Americans feel about being deprived of life-saving health care?

It’s not a far-fetched scenario.

Harry Reid said he didn’t care about saving the lives of children battling cancer. He wouldn’t vote to fund the program. In a future dispute over what deserves funding and what doesn’t, is it hard to imagine another Harry Reid holding Americans hostage by using the government’s monopoly on health care and threatening to shut all medical services down?

It’s not hard to imagine at all.

It’s as predictable as clockwork if Americans make the mistake of giving Washington this power.

Again, are Americans discerning enough to see what’s happening now and project into the future how government’s stranglehold on health-care options might be used like a sledgehammer to get whatever the Washington power brokers want? Obamacare could, if fully implemented, once and for all change the balance of power in the United States of America between government and the people.

Instead of being a government of the people, for the people and by the people, government would have monopoly power over life-and-death decisions it could hold over the head of its former bosses. Government officials would no longer be servants of the people, they would become their masters.

Do you think Americans are a little bit close to understanding the critical component of what’s at stake in this debate – and how it is evidenced by Obama’s desperate and sometimes shocking abuses of power to see that he gets what he wants?

Today, the government is shut down because of Obamacare. But, as a result of the conflict over Obamacare, we may be getting a glimpse into the future and the consequences of what the next government shutdown will cost all Americans. Imagine the next government shutdown. Imagine the next fight over a debt-limit increase. Will Americans dare to say no to Washington in the future when they are dependent on government to see a doctor?

Better to say no now.

Better to keep it shut down than acquiesce into future dependency and serfdom. This may be our last chance to preserve the U.S. as a unique and lasting experiment in self-government, limited government, the rule of law and the will of the people.

Erik Rush: 'Narcissistic Sociopath' Obama Using Shutdown To 'Usurp Complete Power'

WorldNetDaily’s Erik Rush watched President Obama as he “flapped his meaty, deceitful lips” at a press conference, and saw Adolf Hitler incarnate.

Rush argues that “Obama’s obstinacy” and “interminable effluvia of falsehoods” prove “his modality has become that of a dictator” like Adolf Hitler.

“This, gentle reader, is tyranny, the tyranny of a narcissistic sociopath and lifelong student of Marxism whose end game is to usurp complete power,” he writes. “All of the historical signs of communist ascendancy are present in this administration and in this president.”

At the White House on Tuesday, President Obama delivered a statement and took questions from reporters on the partial government shutdown and the ongoing fight over raising the federal debt ceiling. I think that the only thing worse than having to endure the interminable effluvia of falsehoods was having to hear them over and again as he flapped his meaty, deceitful lips for an entire hour.

“We will not capitulate – no, never! We may be destroyed, but if we are, we shall drag a world with us – a world in flames.”

– Adolf Hitler

It is Obama’s obstinacy that so many are finding troublesome. Cited as being unprecedented, this ought not be a surprise, since having a revolutionary Marxist in the White House is also unprecedented. His modality has become that of a dictator, as evidenced by those who have recognized this and articulated the same. On Monday, Arizona state Rep. Brenda Barton posted on her Facebook page that “Someone is paying the National Park Service thugs overtime for their efforts to carry out the order of De Fuhrer [sp],” likening Obama to Nazi despot Adolf Hitler.

By now, Americans have learned of some of the more tyrannical actions on the part of the Obama administration with regard to his enforcement of the partial government shutdown. As if petty actions such as going out of the way to curtail access to open-air memorials and parks weren’t enough, we have now learned that the Obama administration dispatched federal thugs to evict octogenarians who have lived for decades in homes that happen to be located on federal lands.

While a portion of this strategy has been to put political pressure on Republicans to capitulate, the real intention has been to evidence government might, to show the American people who is in charge.

This, gentle reader, is tyranny, the tyranny of a narcissistic sociopath and lifelong student of Marxism whose end game is to usurp complete power. All of the historical signs of communist ascendancy are present in this administration and in this president. What more evidence do we need?
