Glenn Beck's Ideal Government

Near the end of his radio broadcast today, Glenn Beck began to promote the prospect of Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert launching a primary challenge against Republican Senator John Cornyn, resulting in a delegation to the US Senate that would consist of "a couple of ass-kickers" in Gohmert and Ted Cruz.

The idea so enthralled Beck that he began laying out his fantasy government of the future, consisting of Cruz as President, Rand Paul as Vice President, Ron Paul as Treasury Secretary, and Gohmert as Secretary of State.

When co-host Pat Gray pointed out that if Cruz and Gohmert were both serving in the administration, Texas would need two new senators, Beck suggested that he and Gray could fill those positions, which prompted co-host Stu Burguiere to declare that there is no way he'd ever vote for Beck.

"You're a loose cannon," Burguiere said. "I don't trust this guy at all":

LaBarbera: 'It's Almost As If Homosexual Sodomy Was Created To Spread Disease'

Peter LaBarbera closed out his week co-hosting Liberty Counsel's "Faith and Freedom" radio program with Matt Barber pretty much exactly as you would expect, continuing his attacks on gays and railing against the "sin of Sodom."

Saying that gay activists desperately "want approval for their lifestyle," LaBarbera was outraged that they are now using the government to "encourage and celebrate sin," so much so that "now they want to attach the sin of Sodom to marriage."

Approvingly quoting another anti-gay activist, LaBarbera declared that "it's almost as if homosexual sodomy was created to spread disease; that's how dangerous and unnatural this lifestyle is."

"When a nation embraces such confusion and such evil," LaBarbera warned, "it is on a moral decline":

Beck: Common Core Is Insidious And Pure Evil

Obsessed with an incident from last week in which a parent was arrested for objecting to Common Core at a forum in Maryland, Glenn Beck has now returned his focus to the issue, declaring on his radio program that not only it is turning America into a police state, but also insidious, Satanic, and fundamentally evil.

Claiming that the intent of Common Core is to determine careers for school children by the time they are in middle school, Beck ranted that "it is communism" before warning that "it's insidious and we are not dealing with flesh and bone."

"We are dealing with evil," Beck said. "And there comes a time where you have to just say what it is, and it's evil":

State Sen. Kent Lambert: Colorado's Civil Unions Bill Is A 'Mind-Control Experiment'

Today, Colorado State Senator Kent Lambert appeared in person on the "Pray In Jesus Name" program along with its demon-obsessed, ex-gay exorcist host "Dr. Chaps" Gordon Klingenschmitt where Lambert declared that Colorado's civil unions law is an effort to implement "mind-control" and that allowing transgender children to use the proper bathroom is just like "the kind of agendas that the greatest dictators in world history have tried to press in the past."

While discussing the civil unions legislation, Lambert asserted that the law had no exemptions for religious objections, which means that it "completely suppresses basically any ideas; it's a mind-control experiment by the majority party, the Democrats, here in Colorado to force everybody, including children in schools, everything else, under penalty of law, to believe in homosexual marriage."

Later, Lambert declared that allowing transgender children to use the bathroom violates everyone's right to privacy, meaning that "privacy will no longer be in effect in the United States if this agenda continues in the direction that it is right now.  This is certainly Brave New World, the Aldous Huxley novel that Big Brother is here, he's alive and well and we're going to force you into the kind of agendas that some of the greatest dictators in world history have tried to press in the past."

We should point out that "Big Brother" appears in George Orwell's 1984, not Huxley's Brave New World:

Lively: Russia's Anti-Gay Law Is 'One Of The Proudest Achievements Of My Career'

Scott Lively was the guest on Bryan Fischer's radio program yesterday, and while, unfortunately, they did not discuss Lively's theory that President Obama is the Antichrist, they did discuss their mutual admiration for Russia's anti-gay crackdown.

Lively told Fischer that while he did not play a direct role in drafting the legislation, he does believe that a tour he made through Russia a few years back where he urged the implementation of just these sorts of laws served as a catalyst for legislation.

"I indirectly assisted in that," Lively said, "and it's one of the proudest achievements of my career":

Beck: Common Core Is Turning America Into A Police State

On his radio program today, Glenn Beck spent a good deal of time obsessing over a video of a parent being forcibly removed from a forum on Common Core in Maryland last week after which he was arrested and charged with second-degree assault of a police officer, saying that it was proof that America is turning into a police state.

"Write this down in your diary," Beck said "and your kids will look at you as a prophet later.  Write this down in your diary; this is a road sign [of] the fundamental transformation of America and turning us into an absolute, recognizable police state. I believe this little incident in Baltimore is the beginning of it."

For good measure, Beck then went on to repeat the false claim that, under Common Core, incorrect answers to math questions would not be wrong provided that the student could explain how they arrived at their answer.

"We are literally living in 1984," Beck said. "They're changing the answers to math now":

Of course, as we pointed out when David Barton made this very same assertion on Beck's show several weeks ago, this false claim has been debunked by none other than Beck's own "The Blaze" website.

This is now the third example we have found of Beck repeating on his program information that has been specifically debunked by his own staff.

Glenn Beck Now Says He's 'Embarrassed' That He Voted For Mitt Romney

As we noted earlier this month, Glenn Beck has completely turned against Mitt Romney, claiming that he was nothing more than a progressive as he now asserts that he only voted for him because he had no other option.

On his radio program today, Beck and his co-hosts were declaring that never again will they support a Republican presidential nominee that they don't agree with simply because they dislike that candidate less than the Democratic candidate, saying they've had to do so with every GOP nominee since Ronald Reagan, including Mitt Romney.

Beck said that while he is not embarrassed to have voted for Romney "because of the decorum that he would have brought back" to the Oval Office, he is "embarrassed that that's what I cast my vote for because I'm convinced he would have been going into Syria at this point."

He went on to declare, 2:00 minutes in, that Romney would have "really let us down" because he would have refused to repeal President Obama's health care reform "even though he ran on it":

Let us point out that during the campaign, Beck spent every day telling his audience that Romney was a modern-day George Washington and Abraham Lincoln:

If Glenn Beck had any credibility left, this absurdly self-serving rewriting of his passionate support for Mitt Romney would have probably destroyed it for good.

Barber: Every Gay Person Knows 'What They Are Doing Is Immoral, Unnatural, & Self-Destructive'

Peter LaBarbera returned to Liberty Counsel's "Faith and Freedom" radio program today where, once again, he and Matt Barber spent ten minutes denigrating gays as people who know, deep down, that their lives are immoral and shameful.

"God has written his laws on the hearts of every man, woman, and child," Barber said. "Every individual engaged in the homosexual lifestyle, who has adopted a homosexual identity, they know intuitively that what they are doing is immoral, unnatural, and self-destructive. Yet they thirst for that affirmation because they've tied their whole identity up in this sexual perversion."

LaBarbera agreed, saying that media outlets like Fox News need to start covering the stories of "ex-gays" like Charlene Cothran "who was a famous lesbian activist, who basically her mother and friends were praying for her and one day she was at a black gay pride event in Chicago, of all places, and she looked out and she had a tremendous sense of shame. That came from God!"

Brown: Ellen DeGeneres Proves That Gay Rights Are Nothing Like Civil Rights

Anti-gay activist Michael Brown, the author of "A Queer Thing Happened to America," was the guest on "Dr. Chaps" Gordon Klingenschmitt's "Pray In Jesus Name" program today where he made the case that the fight for gay rights cannot be equated to the fight for civil rights because blacks didn't have a popular figure like Ellen DeGeneres during segregation.

Apparently operating under the delusion that there were no popular African American celebrities before the end of segregation, Brown said that gay rights and civil rights have nothing in common not only because blacks don't have to "come out" and declare themselves as such but also because "during the days of segregation, we didn't have people like Ellen DeGeneres who were national celebrities who were black and just loved by the whole nation."

Brown continued, making an even more illogical point by declaring that "we didn't have a gay or lesbian president - we have a black president now - [so] you can't compare the these things at all." Of course, we didn't have a black president during segregation either, so we are not quite sure what point Brown thinks that he is making:

PFAW Foundation Urges North Carolina School Board to Reverse Decision Banning ‘Invisible Man’

People For the American Way Foundation president Michael Keegan sent a letter to members of the Randolph County, North Carolina, Board of Education today urging them to reverse their decision banning Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man from school libraries.  Following a complaint from a parent, the board voted 5-2 on Monday to remove all copies of the acclaimed American literary work from school libraries in the county, Asheboro’s Courier-Tribune reported.

The Courier-Tribune is now reporting that the board may indeed reconsider the ban, noting that they plan to hold a special meeting about the book on Wednesday, September 25.

The full text of the letter is below:

Randolph County Board of Education
c/o Dr. Stephen Gainey, Superintendent
McDowell Governmental Center
2222-C  S. Fayetteville St
Asheboro, NC 27205

September 20, 2013

Dear Members of Randolph County Board of Education:

On behalf of our 816,840 members and activists, we urge you to reverse your decision to remove all copies of Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man from Randolph County school libraries, which was reported by Asheboro’s Courier-Tribune.

Since its 1952 publication, Invisible Man has been targeted multiple times for censorship attempts.  To be sure, it is a piece of literature that explores painful themes – one that, as journalist Roger Rosenblatt put it, “captured the grim realities of racial discrimination as no book had.” Yet despite the opinion of one board member that the novel lacks “any literary value,” Invisible Man is among the most acclaimed American novels of the past century.  It won the 1953 National Book Award for fiction and was deemed by TIME magazine one of the top 100 English-language novels since 1923.

As an organization that works with elected officials, we recognize that school board members often face difficult decisions that require balancing the concerns of parents with the educational development of students.  But denying students access to landmark novels such as Invisible Man because of a parent’s complaint harms students’ ability to learn from and engage with the rich body of literature our country has produced.  In addition, multiple committees in your district recommended against its removal.

Our nation’s education system is designed to teach students critical thinking skills – to expose them to new, and sometimes challenging, ideas.  This classic literary work must not be banned from schools.  We urge you to reconsider this decision, and to make this book available once again to students in your school district.

Sincerely,

Michael Keegan

Fischer: Right Wing Watch Is 'Helping Me Get The Word Out'

Earlier this week, Bryan Fischer hosted Peter LaBarbera on his radio program and we didn't write a post about it which, according to Fischer and his producer, Jeff Reed means ... something.

Fischer, who normally complains that we are "cyberstalking" him, is now complaining that we are not posting clips from his show because supposedly the topic of HIV rates among young males does not fit our agenda.

Of course, we did actually mention LaBarbera's appearance on Fischer's show in our daily Right Wing Leftovers post.  In fact, if you scroll through our Bryan Fischer archive, you will find dozens of instances where we just dumped his nonsense in a Leftovers post because, shocking as this may be to Fischer, not every single thing that he says is something that deserves a blog post.

But sometimes he does say things that we think deserve highlighting, such as his declaration today that he appreciates our efforts to help him "get the word out" about his insanely bigoted views:

We are always happy to help.

Glenn Beck Supports Right-Wing Vote-Rigging Scheme

As a general rule, the candidate who receives the most votes in an election is declared the winner.  But that would all change if the Family Research Council's Ken Blackwell gets his way and states start adopting a vote-rigging scheme that he is recommending whereby, in a presidential election, electoral votes would switch from winner-take-all allocations to a system where they were awarded according to congressional districts.

As a result of such a switch, candidates who lose the overall popular vote in a state could still end up receiving a majority of that state's electoral votes simply by virtue of winning the popular vote in more individual districts.

As Blackwell admitted several months ago, if this sort of system had been in place during the last election, Mitt Romney would have won the presidency despite the fact that he lost the overall popular vote by nearly 5 million votes.

David Barton has eagerly been supporting the scheme by laughably claiming that it would "give the people a greater voice" and last night he got Glenn Beck to endorse it as well on his television program:

Barber & LaBarbera: 'Every Major Institution Is Being Corrupted By The Homosexual Agenda'

Peter LaBarbera was the guest on Liberty Counsel's "Faith and Freedom" radio program again today where he and Matt Barber praised Trail Life USA, the new scouting organization explicitly created as an anti-gay alternative to the Boy Scouts.

LaBarbera said that the Boy Scouts have "sold their soul to the devil" and called for the creation of anti-gay alternatives to organizations "on all fronts" because "every major institution is being corrupted by the homosexual agenda."

LaBarbera said there ought to be anti-gay versions of organizations such as the American Medical Association and the American Psychiatric Association and the like because gay activist are taking them over and forcing people to approve of their behavior in order to "soothe their own conscience."

Barber agreed, saying that progressives are just modern-day pagans and comparing gay activists to a "swarm of locusts" who attack "anything noble" in an effort to destroy it and leave nothing but a dried husk:

Daubenmire: Airplane Chemtrails Are Chemical Weapons

On today's "News With Views" program, "Coach" Dave Daubenmire announced that he agrees with President Obama that the United States must stop the use of chemical weapons.

But Daubenmire wasn't talking about the use of such weapons in Syria, but rather the use of them here at home, in the form of medicines and chemtrails.

"What about these chemtrails?" Daubenmire asked. "We can't deny anymore that that's going on, can we? We cannot deny that; that something is being sprayed over the top of us and we don't know exactly what it is or what the effects of it are, but I can promise you this: the chemicals that are being sprayed are killing people.  They have to be.  There has to be some type of impact.  Have you ever seen so much cancer, so much autism, so many diseases that we didn't have before?  Have you ever seen anything like it?  Could it have something to do with chemical weapons?"

Joyner: 'The Spirit Of Death' Reigns Over Amsterdam

Earlier this year, Rick Joyner's Morningstar Ministries stopped producing the daily "Prophetic Perspective on Current Events" program, much to our dismay. But the program has now returned, complete with a fancy new studio and exciting tales of Joyner's efforts to wrestle with principalities and powers.

As he explained earlier this week, he traveled to the city of Amsterdam back in the 1990s and, while driving in from the airport, he saw that "the Spirit of Death" reigning over the city.  When he later met with various missionaries from across Europe, Joyner informed them of what he had seen and told them that whenever Satan is exposed, he attacks the earth with great wrath. And since Joyner had exposed Satan's reign over Amsterdam, he warned them that "a lot of people will die in this city tonight."

And that is exactly what happened, as that night "the worst storm in over a century" came in off of the North Sea and killed dozens of people not only in Amsterdam, but also in Scotland and Great Britain as well:

Keyes: Gay Rights Leads To Incest, Bestiality, And Persecution Of Christians

Alan Keyes returned to "Dr. Chaps" Gordon Klingenschmitt's "Pray In Jesus Name" program today where he made the case that there can be no such thing as a "right to homosexuality" because all rights come from God, and God has said that homosexuality is an abomination.

"Only those things that are demonstrated to have a relationship with what is right from the point of view of the society, of human nature, and of the things that God requires of us as part of our responsibility to him, those things can be claimed as right," Keyes asserted.

Letting "people who love each other do whatever they want," Keyes said, would lead to pedophilia, incest, and bestiality and persecution of Christians:

Beck: Impeach Obama To Put A 'Stain On His Record That They Cannot Remove'

Glenn Beck harbors a passionate hatred for President Woodrow Wilson that is only exacerbated by the fact that Wilson is generally regarded as one of America's most successful presidents.

During yesterday's morning meeting, Beck railed against Wilson as he was infuriated by reports that Leonardo DiCaprio was considering portraying Wilson in a forthcoming film.

"Ugh, Leonardo DiCaprio, what a piece of garbage you are!" Beck fumed, before turning his attention to President Obama as he grew outraged that he too would probably be highly-regarded by future generations and historians, which is why he must be impeached now.

"They will make him the greatest president to ever live," Beck complained. "That's why, another reason why, you need to file the articles of impeachment. He needs to have the stain on his record that they cannot remove:

Barber: The NALT Christians Project Is 'Apostasy'

Inspired by the success of Dan Savage's "It Gets Better" project, a few weeks ago John Shore and Truth Wins Out launched the Not All Like That (NALT) Christians Project, which is designed to "give LGBT-affirming Christians a means of proclaiming to the world—and especially to young gay people—their belief and conviction that there is nothing anti-biblical or at all inherently sinful about being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender."

Given that mission, it comes as no surprise that Matt Barber and Peter LaBarbera, who are exactly the sort of people that participants in NALT are proclaiming that not all Christians are like, are unhappy about the project, with Barber declaring that he won't stand for being lectured to about Christianity by someone like Savage, who is "one of the most hateful and vile human beings on the planet."

"This is comical," Barber said. "This is laughable.  To have vile, anti-Christian bigots who are pushing a radical, dangerous sexual anarchist agenda presuming to lecture Christians and have people - self-identified Christians, liberal so-called Christians - upload videos about how they support something that God calls an abomination, there's no other word for it, it's apostasy when you have self-described Christians do it.  It is par for the course when you have those who hate God, people like Dan Savage doing it":

Hagee: Navy Yard Shooting Is A Sign Of The End Times

On this week's "Hagee Hotline," Matthew Hagee responded to a question from a viewer asking about signs of the End Times by saying that the warnings that Jesus gave in Matthew 24 were all being played out daily in the newspaper.

Possible military action against Syria, he warned, could lead to World War III, which is the fulfillment of Jesus' assertion that "you will hear of wars and rumors of wars" as the End Times approach.

Jesus also warned of an increase in lawlessness, prompting Hagee to point to the mass shooting at the Navy Yard earlier this week as further proof that "before you know it, Jesus Christ is coming again":

Klingenschmitt: 'Obamacare Causes Cancer'

In addition to being an authority on gay exorcisms and all things demonic, it seems that "Dr. Chaps" Gordon Klingenschmitt is also an expert on the topic of health care and has even made two separate appearances on MSNBC's "The Ed Show" debating the issue.

Following one of these appearances, "Dr. Chaps" said on his "Pray In Jesus Name" show today, he received an email from someone defending President Obama's health care reform legislation by telling the story of a friend who was unable to receive treatment for her cancer because she could not get insurance.

In response, "Dr. Chaps" said that Obamacare was not the answer but was, in fact, the cause of her death, saying "Obamacare is the one that killed this poor lady with cancer."

As "Dr. Chaps" sees it, Obamacare is actually causing people to lose their health insurance which means that "Obamacare causes cancer":
