In his address to the Family Research Council’s Watchmen on the Wall conference, retired General turned anti-Muslim activist Jerry Boykin claimed that Satan is behind growing secularism of the West and seeks to replace Christianity with Islam. He warned America not to follow in the footsteps of Europe, which he said will indisputably soon have a Muslim majority:
We were unquestionably founded on Judeo-Christian principles but there is an effort in America today to rob us of that identity, to take that away from us. If you want to see what can happen when you lose your identity all you have to do is look at the continent of Europe. The continent of Europe is dark, it is hopelessly lost and it’s going to get worse. Every expert will tell you that by the middle of this century the continent of Europe will be an Islamic continent, and they can’t reverse it, they can’t stop it. It is because they took Jesus out of their societies and it’s been replaced by darkness. Any time there is a void it will be replaced by the Enemy, and the Enemy is unquestionably real and he is in fact called Satan, and that is something that people in this country have not yet figured out.
In fact, experts strongly disagree with Boykin’s claim that “every expert will tell you” that Europe will soon be “an Islamic continent.” Pew Forum released a study finding that the Muslim birth rate is slowing:
Alan Cooperman, Pew Forum associate director for research, said the results refuted claims made by some critics of Muslim immigration that high birth rates would make Muslims the majority in Europe within a few decades.
Muslim minorities will grow to around 10 percent of the population in several European countries, he said, adding: "Those are substantial increases but they are very far from 'Eurabia' scenario of runaway growth."
The Economist also notes that the Muslim population of the European Union is approximately four percent and is rather diverse:
Is Eurabia really something to worry about? The concept includes a string of myths and a couple of hard truths. Most of the myths have to do with the potency of Islam in Europe. The European Union is home to no more than 20m Muslims, or 4% of the union's inhabitants. That figure would soar closer to 17% if Turkey were to join the EU—but that, alas, is something that Europeans are far less keen on than Americans are. Even taking into account Christian and agnostic Europe's lousy breeding record, Muslims will account for no more than a tenth of west Europe's population by 2025. Besides, Europe's Muslims are not homogenous. Britain's mainly South Asian Muslims have far less in common with France's North African migrants or Germany's Turks than they do with other Britons.
Criticizing the theory of evolution is not just one of a variety of Religious Right priorities, but is central to their cause as many social conservatives believe that evolutionary thought is the culprit behind much-despised notions like secular government, feminism and moral relativism. As leading young earth creationist Ken Ham explained at the Family Research Council’s Watchmen on the Wall conference, belief in a non-literal interpretation of Genesis is even responsible for President Obama’s support for marriage equality:
Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president Peter LaBarbera is chairing a panel at the World Congress of Families in Madrid, Spain, where he is warning members that the United States has become a “force for immorality, abortion and perversion” and is empowering the “hydra-headed monster of the Homosexual/Transsexual Lobby” through television shows like Glee. He even retold a story of a man who “said good-bye to the homosexual ‘deathstyle’” and became “miraculously free of AIDS” but lamented that others will be swept up by the “barrage of pro-homosexual propaganda emanating from Hollywood and the media”:
Over dinner last evening I heard a comment from a Venezuelan-born journalist, Omar, that shook me. Omar lives in Virginia but is widely traveled, and observed how on a recent trip to Mexico City he saw something that he said he never would have witnessed just a few years ago: homosexual male lovers walking hand-in-hand down the street and then stopping to engage in a perverted male-to-male kiss right out in the open. (So-called homosexual “marriage” was legalized in Mexico City in 2009.)
My new acquaintance and I agreed about how to explain this perverse development in once socially conservative Mexico: the tremendous influence of decadent American Culture. ”People all over the world look to America as a leader in trends,” Omar said. But just as the USA largely has been a force for international good – and helped rescue so many nations from tyranny — we now have become, tragically, a force for immorality, abortion and perversion.
Untold millions of people in foreign countries watch popular American TV shows, which have become ever more blatant tools of general raunchiness and specifically homosexual and transgender activist propaganda. (This is precisely the aim of GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Discrimination, which holds unchallenged sway in Hollywood and is constantly pushing for more pro-homosexual and pro-transgender characters in TV shows and movies.) As anyone who has watched TV lately knows, most programs now glamorize homosexuality or work in a “gay” angle (not even subtly) wherever possible. Remember “Glee’s” romantic kiss between two teenage boys, during primetime?
It’s all part of an orchestrated campaign to normalize the sexual sin of homosexuality. Thankfully, though GLAAD lobbies against the idea of former homosexuals, the proof is in that same-sex behavior is changeable, as Omar reminded me by joyfully recounting the story of a Columbian man who nearly died of AIDS after falling into homosexuality. In his desperation the man, whom Omar interviewed, began reading the Bible, asked God to save him, was reborn through Jesus Christ, said good-bye to the homosexual “deathstyle,” and becaame [sic] miraculously free of AIDS and a husband and father to boot. Praise God!
It is bad enough that Americans have grown so accustomed to the barrage of pro-homosexual propaganda emanating from Hollywood and the media that we shrug our shoulders and say that nothing can be done about it. But how often do we think of a America as a corrupting influence abroad? Our beloved United States of America, which has been blessed so abundantly by God, is now squandering its creativity and accumulated cultural power to “mainstream” sexual perversion and gender confusion — not only to our our [sic] people and youth – but in foreign lands. Where is our collective shame and anger at what the secular-liberal elitists have done to America’s reputation abroad?
More than ever, I am convinced that if we don’t get back to the basics of deconstructing the hydra-headed monster of the Homosexual/Transsexual Lobby, we are handicapping our ability to win hearts and minds, especially among young people — those very “brainwashed” souls whose confusion over homosexual issues has led LGBT activists to boast that it is only a matter of time before our noble cause — the defense of historic Judeo-Christian sexual mores, including opposition to homosexuality — becomes extinct.
Lastly, I am again struck by the enormous gulf between the international pro-life groups and leaders that have assembled in Madrid — with their tremendous progress, momentum and cultural influence – and the diffident, ambiguous and defensive posture of groups and pro-life leaders opposing organized homosexuality. The pro-life movement has palpable energy and confidence — reflected in the myriad of pro-life groups tackling every aspect of the struggle to protect innocent life and reach and heal abortive or potentially abortive women. It is fantastic to behold and provides much-needed evidence that good can rally against evil (though there is of course much work to be done).
Contrast that with the struggling “movement’ (if you can call it that) of those who are dedicated to the principled cause of defeating the Homosexual Lobby – just like pro-lifers aim to defeat the Abortion Lobby (i.e., without an ounce of guilt or reservations). Talking with pro-family activists from various countries here at World Congress reveals the simmering divide over how to approach the homosexual juggernaut: some, like me, favor a direct approach on the issue while others believe we should sidestep the “H” debate and instead focus positively on the campaign to protect the definition of marriage.
Corruption has been an enduring problem in Washington, D.C. politics, but Bishop Harry Jackson believes that the scandals currently plaguing D.C. officials may be a result of the city’s legalization of same-sex marriage, a move Jackson ferociously opposed.
Jackson told Family Research Council president Tony Perkins today that God is removing from office those who are “against the Lord’s agenda,” including by means of corruption scandals:
The men that stood against us, Tony Perkins, in the D.C. battle for marriage and the African American leaders especially among that group who had churches in their wards telling them ‘you need to vote for marriage’ they all said ‘no, no, no we’re not going to vote for marriage.’ One, the former mayor, everything turned against him, he was put out of office. The City Council Chairman became Mayor and now there are all these ethics charges against him. The new head of the City Council of D.C. and several others are all under investigation, they are in the process of losing political power and one of them is beginning a three and a half year term in prison. I believe it’s time for God to bring forth healing in our nation but I believe God’s justice is operating. What we’re going to see is that some of these people who are identifying themselves as being against the Lord’s agenda, God, not us, will deal with them and maybe remove them from office.
Well, since Jackson believes that he can interpret how God is involving Himself in D.C. politics, how can he explain why Councilman Marion Barry, the former mayor (who was removed from office after he was videotaped smoking crack cocaine) who became an outspoken marriage equality opponent, has gotten bogged down in a new controversy that is jeopardizing his political career?
On Capitol Hill yesterday, Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Jeff Merkely (D-OR), Tom Udall (D-NM) and others took to the floor to speak about the state of campaign finance today, thanks to the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United. Although the only way to completely fix the decision would be for the Supreme Court to reverse itself or to pass a Constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, the DISCLOSE Act of 2012 (“Disclose 2.0”) is critically important legislation that would bring much-needed transparency to the political process.
Sen. Whitehouse began by analyzing the dramatic increase in unregulated, anonymous spending in our elections. “In the 2010 elections, the first after Citizens United, there was more than a four-fold increase in expenditures from Super PACS and other outside groups compared to 2006, with nearly three-fourths of political advertising coming from sources that were prohibited in 2006.” He noted that outside groups are vastly outspending the campaigns themselves – yet there is so much overlap between campaigns and PACs that their differences are hard to distinguish.
“Our campaign finance system is broken. Action is required to fix it,” Sen. Whitehouse said. “Americans are disgusted by campaigns that succeed or fail based on how many billionaires the candidates have in their pockets.”
Senator Udall made the case that amending the Constitution to ensure that elections remain about the quality of ideas instead of the quantity of dollars spent is a worthy cause: “We cannot truly fix this broken system until we undo the flawed premise that spending money on elections is the same thing as exercising free speech. That can only be achieved in two ways: the Court can overturn Buckley and subsequent decisions based on it, something the current court seems highly unlikely to do; or we can amend the Constitution to not only overturn the previous bad Court decision, but also to prevent future ones. Until then, we will fall short of the real reform that is needed.”
“I know amending the Constitution is difficult, and it should be,” continued Sen. Udall, who then quoted PFAW Senior Fellow Jamie Raskin: "'A constitutional amendment always seems impossible, until it becomes inevitable.’” Sen. Udall also noted the growing grassroots movement that has led to more than 200 state and local resolutions calling for a Constitutional amendment that have been adopted around the country.
Senator Jeff Merkley engaged in a colloquy with Senator Whitehouse, focusing on the first three words of the preamble to the Constitution, “We the People.” The senators discussed the fundamental conflict with that fundamental value posed by the Citizens United decision. Watch below:
Following his successful effort to oust openly gay Romney campaign adviser Richard Grenell, American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer defended his campaign against him in response to Grenell’s op-ed in the Wall Street Journal. “The claim that gays should be barred from conservative activism is not only bigoted but is a bipartisan view,” Grenell writes. “The intolerant assault comes from the far right, who object to Republicans who are gay, and the far left, who object to gays being Republicans.”
Fischer stood by his harsh criticism of Grenell and in a post today warned the Republican Party that if they accommodate “the tiny two percent of the population who practice unnatural sexual behavior” it will be “the undoing of the party,” saying it will be disastrous for Republicans to continue “cravenly capitulating to a whiny, noisy, hateful and demanding sliver of the American people”:
Perhaps surprisingly, I find myself in agreement with the left on this one. They are dead right when they say you cannot be a homosexual and a conservative.
This is for one simple reason: homosexuality is not a conservative value.
It is a libertarian value, and a liberal value, but it is not a conservative one.
Libertarians and liberals, when it comes to social issues, are in the “anything goes” camp. They reject the whole concept of ordered liberty in which a society is built by people who exercise self-restraint and channel potentially destructive impulses into marriage, family and work.
The bottom line is that the GOP needs to make up its mind. Is it libertarian or conservative on social issues? The increasing accomodation [sic] of ruling class Republicans to the tiny two percent of the population who practice unnatural sexual behavior will be the undoing of the party. Are they truly willing to risk the future of their political party by cravenly capitulating to a whiny, noisy, hateful and demanding sliver of the American people?
If the GOP does not take a firm stand against the normalizing of homosexual behavior, it will squander the political opportunity that has been granted them by the most dangerous and incompetent president in American history.
Word to the GOP: find your moral compass, lads, before it’s too late.
Indeed, Fischer did tell Romney back in April, “You better start listening to me”:
Amazon.com is now the 16th major corporation to cut ties to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), according to reports. The announcement came after more than 500,000 petition signatures– collected by People For the American Way, ColorOfChange.org, CREDO Action, Progressive Change Campaign Committee, SumOfUs and Fuse Washington – were delivered at an event outside the company’s shareholder meeting in Seattle. The petition called on Amazon.com and other corporations to stop funding ALEC, of which Amazon.com had been a member since 2011.
Michael Keegan, President of People For the American Way, issued the following statement:
“Amazon.com has heard the voices of the half million people who signed this petition, and today they did right by their customers. But the ALEC agenda continues to harm many more people across the country. Responsible businesses have no reason to fund ALEC’s agenda, which hurts the working families they depend on. The corporations that have yet to leave ALEC should realize that standing up for their consumers is the best business decision they can make.”
Following a very, very passionate appeal to those “struggling with homosexuality,” Family Research Council vice president Tom McClusky told the audience at the Watchmen on the Wall conference today that people should not in good conscience support the right of same-sex couples to wed just as they should not help a depressed neighbor commit suicide. McCluskly was upset that President Obama cited the Golden Rule in his interview where he endorsed marriage equality, a remark that touched a nerve in the Religious Right with activists like Patrick Wooden railed against Obama for “quoting Scripture to debunk Scripture.” McClusky explained that if the Golden Rule is a reason to support the freedom to marry for gays and lesbians, then it would be just like using the Golden Rule to condone suicide.
McClusky: The President’s come out for same-sex marriage and in an interview in which he updates the nation on the latest evolution of his views, on this question the President notes that his mind was made up in part by his Christian faith, specifically by the Golden Rule, ‘treat others the way you want to be treated.’ It should be pointed out though that contrary to what the President thinks the Golden Rule alone tells us nothing one way or the other about whether to support same-sex marriage, it isn’t about merely protecting our neighbor’s preferences but advancing our neighbor’s good. In the absence of any moral standard then it would mean then that I would have to give my depressed neighbor—I would have to assist him to commit suicide if it was just a matter of doing what he thinks is best.
While taking to Americans For Truth About Homosexuality president Peter LaBarbera, Brian Camenker of MassResistance said that like racism, “homosexuality is unnatural,” and now “just like you had to have the Jim Crow laws to keep the races apart, you have to have these laws and diversity trainings and constant propaganda to keep it going.” Camenker explained that gay rights advocates are passing laws and disseminating “propaganda” with the aim of ending the freedom of speech, which he says they need to do since homosexuality “is generally repulsive to large numbers of people if not everybody”:
LaBarbera: Brian Camenker’s website MassResistance, that is hate, because they don’t like that Brian Camenker opposes homosexuality. This is the world we are living in and I think it’s tempting to laugh at it but if they keep going our First Amendment rights will be gone.
Camenker: There’s no question about it and that’s what they want. They want that to happen.
LaBarbera: They can’t handle a free and fair debate, where we can just talk about ideas, they have to censor everybody who opposes them?
Camenker: The problem that they have is that homosexual behavior in it of itself, to put it bluntly, is generally repulsive to large numbers of people if not everybody. In order to normalize this in any way there has to be this constant stream of propaganda.
Camenker: Homosexuality is unnatural and you have to have, just like you had to have the Jim Crow laws to keep the races apart, you have to have these laws and diversity trainings and constant propaganda to keep it going.
After the American Center for Law and Justice hosted Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-KS) to promote his bill that he claims would help stop Obama from “using the military as a guinea pig” for the “radical homosexual agenda,” Jay Sekulow of the ACLJ sent an email alert to members claiming that if Huelskamp’s Military Religious Freedom Protection Act fails to pass Congress, then “military chaplains could be required to perform same-sex marriages”:
Soon military chaplains could be required to perform same-sex marriages.
To continue ministering to the men and women who are putting their lives on the line for our country, military chaplains would have to violate their faith.
The Senate is considering legislation to protect religious liberty in our military, and we must act now for these strong men of faith.
The House of Representatives has already passed legislation that protects the religious liberty of everyone serving in the military – especially chaplains. The Senate is days away from taking up similar legislation, and we must act quickly.
Religious liberty is a foundational right, and we should expect our elected officials on both sides of the aisle to support it. President Obama's endorsement of same-sex marriage may be driving his policy, but it should not affect the religious freedom of our men and women who risk their lives to protect our rights and freedom.
Despite Sekulow’s ominous message, the Washington Post reported following the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell that while chaplains will be able to perform same-sex marriages in states where they are legal; they will not be required to do so:
The Pentagon will permit military chaplains to perform same-sex marriage as long as such ceremonies are not prohibited in the states where they reside, it said Friday.
Defense Department guidance issued to military chaplains said they may participate in ceremonies on or off military bases in states that recognize gay unions. Chaplains are not required to officiate at same-sex weddings if doing so is counter to their religious or personal beliefs, the guidance said.
In fact, the only way the Military Religious Freedom Protection Act significantly changes the law is by imposing a ban on the use of military installations in same-sex marriage ceremonies, prohibiting houses of worship on military property from exercising their freedom to marry same-sex couples in states where it is legal.
Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) appeared today on Truth that Transforms, the flagship radio program of Truth in Action Ministries, to push his Houses of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act, which the Interfaith Alliance notes would allow houses of worship to engage “in partisan politicking,” such as endorsing candidates from the pulpit, “without losing their tax-exempt status.” Truth in Action Ministries recently produced a film likening the rule to Nazism, and Jones told host John Rabe that the tax provision is like “communism” and “socialism.”
The congressman also conflated the risk of forfeiting tax-exempt status with losing civil rights, saying that the IRS has eroded the “freedom of speech” in the U.S. Jones also said that unlike liberals, “those on the conservative side believe in freedom of speech and therefore they’re not reporting anyone.”
The last church to have lost its tax-exempt status was Randall Terry’s church which took out an advertisement opposing the election of Bill Clinton in 1992.
Rabe: In reality it also seems that in some ways the threats have outstripped the actual actions, no one should be threatened with the loss of their tax exemption for speaking freely but it seems like this is something that the ACLU and Barry Lynn and groups like that use to get churches to self-censor as well, it might be helpful for pastors to understand that if they stand up and are bold and speak the truth anyway, they may find that the IRS has their hands full trying to do anything about it.
Jones: I think you are right on that, John, I think it’s a law that is very difficult to enforce and in fact the Internal Revenue Service will tell you and they testified to this that they are dependent on a third party to report. Is that communism? Is that socialism? What is that?
Rabe: Yeah, it’s spying on each other.
Rabe: It does seem that this provision has been somewhat selectively enforced is it just my perception or is it reality that those on the conservative side of the spectrum seem to face more sanctions on this sort of thing than those on the liberal side of the spectrum.
Jones: Well if I can answer you this way I think those on the conservative side believe in freedom of speech and therefore they’re not reporting anyone. But I will say that to me, left or right, this should not be part of America, this should not be the intimidation of some law that was never debated that a group or an element can use this law to intimidate. John, that’s not America, you know that, I know that, you’ve been saying that, I’m just telling you this is one of those issues that ought to be repealed, let’s get it off the books and let’s return this country to freedom of speech.
MADISON, WI. – People For the American Way today began airing a hard-hitting radio ad in Wisconsin supporting the recall of Gov. Scott Walker, Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch and four sitting state senators. The ad, running on Spanish language radio stations in Milwaukee and Racine, is the first PFAW political ad of the 2012 election cycle. It features Voces De La Frontera Action Executive Director Christine Neumann-Ortiz calling on voters to support Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett for governor.
The ad urges Wisconsinites to stand up against the extremism of Governor Walker and his like-minded colleagues in the Senate. “Our community is under attack,” says Neumann-Ortiz in the ad. “Governor Scott Walker has declared war on Wisconsin’s working class families in favor of the rich,” and “takes away education rights from immigrant youth, opposes driver licenses for immigrants and has promised to sign an Arizona-style immigration law.” The ad calls on Wisconsinites to “do their civic duty and vote Tom Barrett for Governor” on June 5th.
PFAW, a national group protecting civil rights and civil liberties, and Voces De La Frontera Action, Wisconsin’s leading immigrant rights group, are members of the We Are Wisconsin coalition, which is working on efforts to get out the vote and defeat Scott Walker and the extreme right-wing members of the Wisconsin legislature. “Gov. Walker and his allies in the legislature have enacted the anti-worker, anti-immigrant, anti-student, anti-middle-class policies peddled by corporate front groups and the Koch Brothers,” said Randy Borntrager of People For the American Way. “Gov. Walker, Lt. Gov. Kleefisch and the four state senators facing recall have proven that they don’t have the people’s interests at heart. It’s time to send a message for all working people and show Walker and his allies the door.”
The ad will continue to run through the June 5 recall elections.
Conservative author and conspiracy theorist Ed Klein joined Sandy Rios of the American Family Association today to promote his book, “The Amateur,” where he revealed that Michelle Obama is the real power broker in the White House. Klein said that he learned from friends of the Obama’s that the First Lady “wears the pants in the family” and “is even further to the left than her husband.” He said she grew up “with a real chip on her shoulder” over anti-black discrimination and claims she has “never really gotten over that”:
Klein: They give me a portrait of a very, very strong-minded, powerful woman who wears the pants in the family. That her husband, Barack Obama, has I’ve been told again and again is actually afraid of Michelle, afraid of her temper, afraid of her shunning him, turning a cold shoulder to him, things like that, he is very susceptible to her moods. She comes from a very political family, her father was a precinct family, getting out the vote on the local neighborhood level for the old Mayor Daly, so she grew up steeped in politics and with a real chip on her shoulder because of her feeling that African Americans were second class citizens in Chicago, which they were back then, not any longer, but they were back then, and she’s never really gotten over that. In my view she is even further to the left than her husband, Barack Obama.
Rios: That’s the take you get on Valerie Jarrett as well, they are pushing him to this ideology which I think he does embrace too.
Klein: I do too; I think it’s in his system.
Rios: In his DNA.
Rios was also interested in the role of President Obama’s adviser Valerie Jarrett, telling Klein: “she was born in Iran—that for the life of me makes no sense—she is the daughter of Vernon Jarrett. Vernon Jarrett, how strange, was a very close friend of Frank Marshall Davis who was one of the editors of the Communist newspaper in Chicago who became later Barack Obama’s mentor.” Rios complained that “you can find out all kinds of alarming things” about Jarrett “without working too hard…they thought I was crazy.”
However, Vernon Jarrett is not Valerie Jarrett’s father. Her father is Dr. James Bowman, and Jarrett was born in Iran as her parents moved to there after her father found a job there at a hospital. Vernon Jarrett is the father of Jarrett’s late ex-husband Dr. William Robert Jarrett. The couple divorced in 1988 and he died in 1993.
Despite bragging about writing two chapters about Jarrett in his book, Klein doesn’t correct Rios and it is unclear if he even knew she was wrong in the first place.
Rios ended her show warning that Obama “has done tremendous harm to the black community by being who he is” and “is out for [the] destruction” of America:
Rios: There was a dark cloud, there was like a delusion, a strong delusion, that settled over America—it wasn’t about color—I think the sad thing is, I am grateful America has come to the place where they will elect an African American president, I think that has tremendous value and it should have, but not this one. I know too many fine men of color who love this country and I think he has done tremendous harm to the black community by being who he is, and who he is is he’s not a lover of this country. Most black Americans even in spite of the things that have happened in this past, the things that we’re ashamed of, still, this is their home, this is their country, this is their children who fight in wars and they don’t want someone leading who is out for destruction.
In advance of a court case on the constitutionality of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and amid calls to repeal the discriminatory law, the Family Research Council today sent an appeal to members urging them to tell Congress that a repeal of DOMA would present a “grave threat” to the family and religious liberty. In an email to members, FRC president Tony Perkins lamented that the Obama administration has already “forced open homosexuality upon the military” and provided “taxpayer-funded marriage benefits to same-sex couples.”
Few were shocked by the recent announcement of President Obama's "evolved" support for redefining marriage. His words have finally followed his actions - or his inaction when it comes to marriage policy. In less than four years, the Obama Administration has forced open homosexuality upon the Armed Forces, opposed state marriage amendments, refused to do its constitutional duty to defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DoMA), and awarded taxpayer-funded marriage benefits to same-sex couples.
Now some in Congress are seeking to repeal DoMA - an act that would endanger the marriage laws in 44 states that currently define marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
There are those who hope you will step aside and allow this God-given institution to be redefined. We cannot allow the DoMA law to be repealed. Please sign our Stand for Marriage petition, and join us in showing Congress and President Obama that marriage is worth standing for.
Given that the family consisting of marriage between one man and one woman is the foundation of civil society, I urge Congress and President Obama to uphold and defend the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DoMA), which defines marriage for the federal government and affirms the rights of states to protect the institution of marriage. President Obama's cynical endorsement of same-sex "marriage," along with his failure to do his constitutional duty to enforce and defend federal law in relation to marriage, combined with the plans of some in Congress seeking to overturn DoMA - is a grave threat not only to the well-being of the family, but to the religious liberty of countless Americans who do not wish to be forced to embrace a counterfeit version of marriage.
The number of right-wing conspiracy theories relating to President Obama, Islam, Sharia Law, immigration, Agenda 21 and the debt seems to be growing exponentially…but finally now there is one conspiracy theory that brings them all together.
Avi Lipkin, who on speaking tours in churches and synagogues across America says he learned secret information from his wife, whom he claims is an Israel intelligence officer. On Crosstalk with Vic Eliason of VCY America, Lipkin maintained that Obama is a Saudi plant who is out to destroy Israel and the United States:
Lipkin: Obama was made a Muslim man in Indonesia by age 11. He said, ‘I’ve got health care problems, I got economic problems in America, Muslims in Egypt and Muslims in the Muslim world, be patient, I will show you when the time comes what I am going to do to Israel.’ My wife picked up other broadcasts, for example the Saudis were saying, ‘we will have a Muslim in the White House in 2008.’ The Saudis also said, ‘Obama has three tasks: task number 1 is to destroy the Shiite threat in Iran, task number 2 is to destroy the Jewish threat Israel, task number 3 is to destroy the great Christian Satan America and turn America into a Muslim country.’
Surely you’ve heard that one before. But, you may not have known that Obama will destroy America by supporting the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt in order to collapse the region’s economy after the group persecutes the country’s Christians, leading to a wave of Muslim immigration to the United States. Obama will then settle the “50-100 million” Muslim immigrants on “lands confiscated by Agenda 21,” the sustainable development initiative, and bring about Sharia law in the U.S.
Obama also built up the national debt to a point where the U.S. will need a bailout from Saudi Arabia, who will grant it with the condition that “America will surrender its Christianity.” Lipkin explains that God sent the Muslim immigrants to the U.S. to be “hunters” of Jews and Christians, forcing them to leave the U.S. and move to Israel:
Lipkin: The Muslim Brotherhood is going to end up either killing, converting to Islam or expelling the remaining Christians of Egypt. When the Christians of Egypt are gone, the economy of Egypt is gone. When the economy of Egypt is gone, the 76 Muslims who remain are going to starve to death. What do people do when they starve? They leave. Where do they go to? America. Who’s going to bring them in? Obama. Where is he going to settle them? In the lands confiscated by Agenda 21.
Lipkin: America will be Muslim by 2016. 2016 is the eighth year of President Obama, meaning he is going to bring in 50-100 million Muslims because it is inevitable that all these Islamic countries cannot rule, they don’t know how to rule themselves, they are completely inept, and after they kill all the Christians that remain there will not be any economy left so you’re going to have overnight 50-100 million Muslims coming in. You cannot put them in American cities, you have got to create entire new areas populated in the United States and Canada with these Muslims.
Eliason: Where Sharia law holds forth?
Lipkin: Yes! So you have Agenda 21, you have Sharia law, by the way I’m going to throw out a real wildcard now. You have all those people who talk about the American debt being insolvable, where are you going to get $14 trillion from? The answer is very simple, you don’t think the Saudis have $14 trillion in cash? They’ll give you the cash and they will say ‘we own you now, we’re going to take over America.’ And Americans will say, ‘if we don’t do this we’re going to lose our economy and we’re going to lose our dollar and everything.’ The American economic problem is not a problem if the Saudis come in and bring in their cash. The problem here is America will surrender its Christianity.
Lipkin: If and when a war breaks out in the Middle East between Israel and its neighbors then you will see 10, 20, 30 million, maybe more, 40, 50 million Muslims, some of them are going to rise up in a 9/11 type terrorist attacks and they are not afraid to die, they cherish death, and American law enforcement with all the best of intentions will not be capable of dealing with this. They are not going to kill 10 million, they are going to kill some and a lot of Jews and Christians are going to go into hiding and eventually a lot of them will eventually leave the United States and coming to Israel so I see this as a spatula, they leave by God, you have the hunters and these hunters are going to be the Muslims. I believe America will come out of this mess but it’s going to be a very rough time, weeks, months, before the situation is brought under control. The more Muslims you have in America the more capable they will be to wreak havoc on Jews and Christians.
While Target created a firestorm in 2010 for donating to a conservative group backing an anti-gay, and unsuccessful, Republican gubernatorial candidate in Minnesota, the retailer now is selling t-shirts to benefit the Family Equality Council, a group representing LGBT families.
Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council said “if they're looking to resonate with Americans, they ought to try defending marriage”:
Target's slogan is "expect more." And when it comes to their politics, Americans do. Hello, I'm Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council in Washington, D.C. One of America's biggest companies isn't just named Target--it's becoming one. Starting May 20, the mega-chain's introducing a new line of same-sex "marriage" merchandise that says, "Love is love." Target promises to donate 100% of the profits to a national homosexual group--but they don't specify which one. Retail analyst Britt Beemer says that Target's strategy isn't "very smart," especially in conservative states, where it does the biggest business. "Anytime a retailer gets away from doing what they should be doing by being involved in a social cause, [they] lose." The company said it wanted to "resonate beyond fashion." But if they're looking to resonate with Americans, they ought to try defending marriage. According to voters, the country's still very opposed to redefining it. Let Target know that its agenda isn't your style. Log on to target.com, scroll down, and click "Contact Us."
Target is joining President Obama in ramming same-sex marriage down the throats of the American people.
Send an email to Target Chairman Gregg Steinhafel. Let him know that a majority of Americans oppose same-sex marriage and are able to use their pocketbooks to voice their opposition to companies that support it.
Dear Chairman Steinhafel:
Thirty-one states have overwhelmingly voted for constitutional amendments to protect marriage as only between one-man, one-woman. And your company does business in all of these states.
That's why I can't understand why Target would purposely choose to offend me by donating cash to support the Family Equality Council's push for legalizing homosexual marriage.
I urge you to reconsider this promotion and stop supporting a gay marriage campaign.
Otherwise, I will reconsider shopping at your stores and choose making my purchases from your competitors.
The Senate yesterday confirmed prominent Los Angeles attorney Paul J. Watford to serve on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Watford, whose qualifications earned him the highest possible rating from the American Bar Association, becomes just the fourth African American ever to hold a seat on the Ninth Circuit. He is now one of two African American judges on the 29-member circuit court, the busiest in the country, which covers nine western states, as well as two territories.
“Paul Watford as an exceptionally qualified nominee will effectively and judiciously serve the people of California as a Ninth Circuit judge,” said Rev. Dr. Lewis Logan of Los Angeles, a member of People For the American Way’s African American Ministers in Action. “And now, thanks to Judge Watford’s confirmation, there are two African Americans out of 29 active judges on the Ninth Circuit. Clearly, there’s much more work to be done to ensure that our court system reflects the diversity of people that it serves. This particular confirmation represents a substantive and significant step forward.”
President Obama has brought more diversity to the federal courts than any other president in history. Of the president’s exceptionally qualified judicial nominees, nearly 40 percent have been people of color and nearly half have been women. In contrast, just 18 percent of President Bush’s judicial nominees were people of color and just 23 percent were women. Unfortunately, President Obama’s efforts to diversify the bench have met with strident opposition from Republicans in the Senate, who have used procedural tactics to block qualified nominees.
“Diversity in our courts matters,” said Rev. Leonard Jackson of Las Vegas, also a member of African American Ministers in Action. “A diverse federal court system inspires confidence in those who turn to it for justice and ensures that many voices are heard in the halls of power. Paul Watford is a stellar nominee, and will bring an important voice to the busiest circuit court in the country.”
