PFAW Releases New Policy Toolkit on Safe Schools

For too many students, school is not a safe place. More than six in ten LGBT students have felt unsafe at school because of their sexual orientation and more than four in ten because of their gender expression. Losing their sense of safety means that they lose access to the quality education all students deserve.

In anticipation of the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Education Network’s Day of Silence on April 11, an annual event to highlight the silence created by anti-LGBT harassment in schools, today People For the American Way released a new policy toolkit, Education Without Discrimination: Creating Safe Schools for All Students.

From talking points to sample lobbying letters to social media resources, the toolkit is designed to help you understand and advocate for the critical legislation that has been introduced in Congress to address this problem, including the Safe Schools Improvement Act and the Student Non-Discrimination Act.

Together we can send a loud and clear message to Congress: all students deserve safe schools.

Ginni Thomas And Lila Rose Discuss Cultural 'Erosion,' 'Natural Law,' 'Tyrant' In White House

Anti-choice activist Lila Rose of Live Action was Ginni Thomas’ guest this week on her Daily Caller interview show, where the two discussed how to fix the “erosion” of American culture and return to “natural law.”

Thomas, a Tea Party activist who is married to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, asked Rose, “Years from now when history books are written about this culture, what are they going to see, and how do we stop the erosion?”

The Live Action founder responded, “Years from now, when history books are written about our culture, what I pray, and what I believe they will say is that we wandered from our founding principles, but we came right back and we embraced them more boldly than ever before.”

She went on to reject the idea of secular government, warning that it leads to human rights abuses, and to call President Obama a “tyrant.”

“Secular is somehow saying there’s no God, there’s no higher power, there’s no higher law,” she said. “You can’t say that because then when you have a tyrant in power – which you often, sadly, do – and I believe there’s aspects of tyranny in who you have in power now – then whole groups of people, their rights are not respected, their rights are not protected and you have human rights abuses.”

WND: Phony Internet Scandal 'May Be The Most Historic Outrage In The History of This Country, If Not The World'

The right-wing myth that the Obama administration handed oversight of the Internet to foreign powers continues to spread, even after it has been roundly debunked. As part of a sixteen year plan, the administration relinquished government oversight to a US-backed non-profit instead of a United Nations-led organization. But conservative activists have consistently claimed that President Obama actually gave control to the UN group, even though that is completely false.

Today, WorldNetDaily pundit Gina Loudon writes in reaction to the Internet decision that Americans should “seriously consider our options” to “find a way to throw these colluders with terrorists – these traitors – out of office,” deceptively claiming that “Obama is handing the global community the ability to control our speech, and our technological advances.”

“This may be the most historic outrage in the history of this country, if not the world, and it happened while they entertained us with bread and circuses,” she writes of the non-existent scandal.

A couple of questions for the stiff-lipped statists with white gloves quietly applauding this oh so global delight: Who can you really trust? And when it comes to the Internet, how do you know that when you increase the greasy fingers meddling in your online life, that more fingers don’t increase corruption and decrease efficiency?

Free markets and private ownership work, and that’s why the American founders chose them. When you make it “global,” with appointees farther removed from the people, you inevitably remove accountability and increase corruption.

The travesty is that we Americans actually did build the Internet! (No, not you, Al! You only built the fraudulent green movement hysteria.) Even Bill Clinton said giving away control of the Internet was idiotic. We have the strongest tradition of free speech in the world. You can kiss that goodbye, Internet lovers!

We can’t say we weren’t warned about all this trickery. Our first clue was when Obama instructed the director of NASA that his goal was no longer space travel, but rather the goal of NASA was to go make friends with Muslims. The former director of NASA, Michael Griffen, called this directive “deeply flawed.”

So now Obama is handing the global community the ability to control our speech, and our technological advances. The international body will have the ability to control us by controlling our speech, and we handed it to them. What are we getting in return?

This may be the most historic outrage in the history of this country, if not the world, and it happened while they entertained us with bread and circuses.

If the country doesn’t wake up and find a way to throw these colluders with terrorists – these traitors – out of office, it will be too late. It may be time for us to seriously consider our options, very seriously.

History will record the truth. The next entity to control the Internet, space and nuclear technology will not be so good as the Americans, who have controlled it since its birth. It cannot be, because no republic shares our bedrock foundations of free speech and individual liberty. America is founded on principles that are reverent, grace-filled and believe the best in people, and for people. What will the Internet look like when it is controlled by people who believe the state comes first?

Pat Robertson Says Jews Are Too Busy Polishing Diamonds To Fix Their Cars

Conservative activist Daniel Lapin, the Religious Right’s favorite rabbi who was also tied to the Jack Abramoff corruption scandal, appeared today on the 700 Club to tell host Pat Robertson about his new book on the “ancient Jewish wisdom” of “making money.”

Robertson introduced Lapin by asking: “What is it about Jewish people that make them prosper financially? You almost never find Jews tinkering with their cars on the weekends or mowing their lawns. That’s what Daniel Lapin says and there’s a very good reason for that, and it lies within the business secrets of the Bible.”

Later in the interview, Robertson said that Jews are “polishing diamonds, not fixing cars.”

“When you correctly said in Jewish neighborhoods you do not find Jews lying under their cars on Sunday afternoons, no, I pay one of the best mechanics around to take care of my BMW, I’d be crazy to take my time doing it myself,” Lapin said. “Or for me to mow my lawn, I’m the worse lawnmower in the world, but the young man who lives down the street from me, he’s one of the best and he’s happy to do it and I’m happy.”

He added that paying for such services is all about “taking care of God’s other children.”

Lapin also repeated his claim that God doesn’t want people to retire, and commended Robertson for still hosting the 700 Club.

“There’s no Hebrew word for retirement; the general rule is when there’s no Hebrew word for something, it’s a bad idea. For instance, there’s no Hebrew word for adolescent, because when you think about it an adolescent is just somebody who wants all the privileges of adulthood with none of the responsibilities,” Lapin told Robertson. “No word for adolescent, no word for retire and I’m very happy that you’ve taken that lesson to heart.”

Robertson agreed that retirement is a violation of God’s law. Lapin added that there is also no Hebrew word for “fair.”

At the end of the interview, Lapin said that the United States has embraced a Marxist government that “turns people into slaves.”

Gordon Klingenschmitt Poised To Clinch GOP Nomination In Colorado Race

Last year, extremist pastor Gordon “Dr. Chaps” Klingenschmitt announced that he was running for a seat in the Colorado state legislature and his campaign took a step forward last weekend when he dominated a Colorado GOP caucus, where he received over seventy percent of the vote. Unfortunately for Chaps, he doesn't have the GOP nomination sewn up quite yet, as he still may face a primary opponent:

Gordon Klingenschmitt won the favor of the delegates with 71 percent of the vote, preventing two other candidates nominated from hitting the 30 percent threshold. But unlike county-wide races, it only takes 1,000 signatures to get on the ballot.

Candidate Dave Williams however, turned down his nomination saying he already has 1,000 signatures and will petition onto the ballot. A primary appears likely in that race.

The district is heavily Republican and currently represented by the GOP House Leader.

As ColoradoPols.com reports, Williams also has a long history of making extremist statements and promoting discrimination.

Klingenschmitt has made anti-LGBT activism the cornerstone of his political life. Here are just a few of his shocking statements:

New Erick Erickson-Backed Group Ousts Hardline Anti-Choice Org In Georgia

Last week, we wrote about the infighting among anti-choice groups – between those that will settle for nothing short of banning abortion with no exceptions and those that are willing to take a more incremental approach to the same goal – that’s bubbling to the surface in contentious GOP Senate primaries in Kentucky and Georgia.

Georgia’s feud is particularly dramatic: Georgia Right to Life, the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, broke with the national group last year when it opposed a federal 20-week abortion ban that the national group supported, refusing to endorse the legislation because it included exceptions for rape and incest.

Republican congressman and Senate candidate Paul Broun sided with the state group and voted against the ban because of the rape and incest exceptions; his fellow representatives Jack Kingston and Phil Gingrey, who are also running for the Senate seat, sided with the national group and voted for the ban. Former Susan G. Komen executive Karen Handel, another leading Senate contender, also supports rape exceptions to abortion bans.

Georgia Right to Life’s open split with National Right to Life over the 20-week abortion ban drew the ire of Macon-based conservative pundit Erick Erickson, who called the hardline Georgia group “the Westboro Baptist Church of the pro-life movement” and declared, “we need a new pro-life group in Georgia.”

Enter Georgia Life Alliance, a brand new anti-choice group that mysteriously sprung up a few weeks ago with the goal of taking Georgia Right to Life’s spot as the state affiliate of National Right to Life. Erickson quickly acknowledged that he was involved in the new organization and would be on its board.

And this weekend, Erickson completed his coup, as National Right to Life announced that it was ending its relationship with Georgia Right to Life and taking on Georgia Life Alliance as its new affiliate. In a press release, the national organization blamed the split on Georgia Right to Life's insubordination and defended its legislative strategy, claiming it “has helped save millions of lives.”

In short, by its own actions, Georgia Right to Life ruptured its relationship with National Right to Life.

National Right to Life and its affiliates seek to restore legal protection for all unborn children from the moment of their conception. Until the Supreme Court allows broad protections for unborn children, we work to protect as many children as possible by passing the strongest possible laws at the state and federal level. That legislative strategy has helped save millions of lives – and continues to save lives today.

Georgia Right to Life then lashed out in return, calling the national group’s decision a “tragedy”:

“It’s a tragedy that a pioneering, highly successful pro-life organization is considered unworthy to remain affiliated with National Right to Life (NRLC),” Becker said. “It’s especially hard to understand, since GRTL has accomplished so much.”

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Daniel Malloy caught up with Broun, who chided National Right to Life and said he wished everyone in the anti-choice movement would just get along:

“I’m saddened that those of us that believe in life are fighting amongst ourselves. We ought to be fighting to protect the lives of unborn children instead of quibbling about differences of opinion of strategy. I’m honored that Georgia Right to Life has endorsed my candidacy for U.S. Senate. …

“I know that Georgia Right to Life has been at the forefront in the state of Georgia fighting for life. What National Right to Life did is I think unfortunate for the people who have been involved with Georgia Right to Life for a long period of time.”

Mike Huckabee's Hypocritical 'Hobby Lobby Day'

On Saturday, Mike Huckabee led a Hobby Lobby ‘buycott’ modeled on his campaign to support Chick-fil-A. Huckabee worked with the Family Research Council to promote the event, which coincided with Supreme Court arguments in Hobby Lobby’s suit to avoid the contraception coverage mandate, a case that Huckabee declared last week will determine “whether religious liberty still exists in America.”

“If religious liberty and freedom of conscience doesn’t exist for Hobby Lobby, how long will it be before it’s taken from you?” Huckabee asked on his Fox News program. “Enough of government thinking its God and trying to act like it.”

In that case, Huckabee must think that he himself is God: When he was governor of Arkansas, he signed an even broader contraception coverage mandate into law.

Bill Scher reports that “in 2005, Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee signed a law mandating Arkansas insurance plans provide contraception coverage, including church-affiliated organizations such as hospitals and universities.”

Corporations like Hobby Lobby and other secular for-profits were not exempt under the Huckabee-approved law [PDF], which only exempted entities “organized and operated for religious purposes 16 and has received a § 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service.”

As Laura Bassett of the Huffington Post notes, the Affordable Care Act actually goes farther in “carv[ing] out an exemption for religious schools, hospitals and nonprofits in addition to churches.”

Huckabee also falsely claimed that the federal mandate compels “business owners to pay for employees’ abortions”; the forms birth control covered by the mandate are neither abortions or abortifacients.

None of this, of course, is surprising coming from the politician who suggested that birth control is for women who “can’t control their libido.”

Culture Warriors Danny Carroll & Gopal Krishna Picked To Head Iowa GOP

Last month, we wrote that the Iowa Republican Party had picked a new co-chair , Danny Carroll, a social conservative culture warrior who serves as a lobbyist for The Family Leader.

Shortly after Carroll became co-chair, the state party chairman, libertarian-leaning A.J. Spiker, announced that he was resigning from his position. And this weekend, Carroll was elected to replace him as the chairman of the Iowa GOP.

It’s unclear how long Carroll’s reign over the state party will last and if he will still be at its helm in 2016, when he would be in charge of running the Iowa caucuses. New state central committee members will be seated in June, and could possibly then oust him as chairman.

But in the meantime, Carroll’s election seems to show that the Iowa GOP has no intention of softening on social issues.

Here is Carroll opining last year that banning gay marriage will help fix “just about every problem facing society today”:

And here he is in 2010 blaming teen suicides on the end of school-sponsored prayer:

And let’s not forget the new co-chair of the Iowa GOP, elected this weekend. Gopal Krishna of the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition (the state branch of Ralph Reed’s group) will succeed Carroll as the state party’s number two. Krishna, who boasts that "the first three letters of my name are G-O-P,"  looks to be just as much of a culture warrior as Carroll.

For instance, here’s Krishna in 2011 warning that the United States has become “a multicultural haven for every weird and kinky lifestyle”:

Florida Puts Hold on Voter Purge, North Carolina Lifts the Veil on Voter ID Law

When we last checked in with the controversial Florida voter purge, advocates and media alike were speculating over what route Governor Rick Scott and Secretary of State Ken Detzner would take in 2014, with Detzner's office considering comparing its voter records with the US Department of Homeland Security's federal citizenship database known as Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE). Now we know: the purge is off for 2014. Also this week, in North Carolina US Magistrate Judge Joi Elizabeth Peake ruled that lawmakers must release correspondence related to the formation of the state's new voter ID law, saying that though some records might be shielded, many are considered public.

Eagle Forum: Marriage Equality Cases Put America 'In The Danger Zone'

Eagle Forum’s Virginia Armstrong, who leads the group’s Court Watch Project, writes in a “Court Watch briefing” today that the Supreme Court’s recent decisions on the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8 have displaced the “Judeo-Christian/Constitutionalist worldview” in favor of “Humanism/Reconstructionism,” which she warns “wreaks havoc with the concepts of absolute truth and inherent logic of the Law.”

Armstrong writes that the gay rights cases have pushed America to the “breaking point” and into the “danger zone” that will undermine the rule of law.

Has America has bent over backwards too far in its spiritual, moral, and constitutional life so that we are in danger of “breaking”? This question is central to our current series of Court Watch Briefings. The question has been precipitated by America’s Culture War and echoes the anguished cry of the Father in the famous musical production, “Fiddler on the Roof,” who felt that revolutionary changes in his world were pushing him to the “breaking point.”

We are proving that America is indeed in the “danger zone” and is in dire need of a massive “straightening up process.” Nothing more clearly demonstrates this fact than the recent same-sex marriage decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court — Perry v. Hollingsworth and Windsor v. U.S.

The Humanist/Reconstructionist position on epistemology is fatally flawed at every turn, as revealed in the pro-homosexual court decisions in Hollingsworth v. Perry and Windsor v. U.S. We must remember that Perry/Windsor reflect far more than the specific issues and positions of the immediate parties to the cases. Rather, they afford us a panoramic view of the entire homosexual rights battle and should be viewed in that light.

The real conflict in Perry/Windsor and similar cases is that of the whole Culture War conflict — the War of Worldviews between Humanism/Reconstructionism and the Judeo-Christian/Constitutionalist worldview. What is at stake, as Harold Berman demonstrates in his analysis (to which we have been referring), is the “very collapse of our entire Western legal tradition.” The Perry/Windsor epistemology wreaks havoc with the concepts of absolute truth and inherent logic of the Law — key components of the Western legal tradition outlined by Professor Berman. And as Nancy Pearcey of Houston Baptist University’s Schaeffer Center so cogently states, “The clash between these two understandings of morality [the Judeo-Christian v. the Humanistic] will determine whether liberty is gained or lost in the 21st century. It is imperative to reassert the transcendent moral truths that undergird freedom in every society.”

Jay Sekulow Touts Phony Internet Scandal, Claims It Will 'Censor The Church'

As we have noted several times, right-wing groups are falsely claiming that the Obama administration has relinquished control of the Internet to a United Nations-controlled group. In fact, quite the opposite is true: Politico reports that the administration rebuffed calls from Russia and China to give authority to the United Nations-led International Telecommunication Union, and instead completed a sixteen year transition of Internet oversight to a US-backed nonprofit.

Naturally, Obama critics are now alleging that the president did the opposite of what actually occurred and handed over authority to the UN body.

Religious Right leader Jay Sekulow today emailed members of the American Center for Law and Justice to warn that “the President wants to hand over control of the Internet to a multinational group, including corrupt dictatorships in China, Russia, and Iran,” warning that the move could “mean censoring the Church if it reaches out to Islamic lands” and “exposing our own computers to greater risk of fraud and other cybercrimes.”

So there you have it: the Obama administration rejects efforts to relinquish Internet oversight to the UN, and conservative activists decide to attack him anyway by falsely claiming that he did the exact opposite of what he did.

There is simply no excuse for the Obama Administration’s latest move.

The President wants to hand over control of the Internet to a multinational group, including corrupt dictatorships in China, Russia, and Iran.

Why?

China, Russia, and Iran have all signaled they want greater control over the Internet, including control over what we see and write.

Does this mean censoring the Church if it reaches out to Islamic lands?

Does this mean exposing our own computers to greater risk of fraud and other cybercrimes?

America has kept the Internet free for a generation; let’s keep it free. Stand with the ACLJ and stand against the Obama Administration’s latest attack on your liberty.

Richard Land Warns God Will Punish Gay Christians, Says Obama Presidency Is God's Judgment On America

After arguing that gay people are pawns of Satan, Southern Baptist Convention leader Richard Land told a Washington Watch listener yesterday that God will punish gay Christians until they repent.

Responding to a caller who said that he recently debated with a gay Christian over the church’s stance on homosexuality, Land recounted the story of a woman who left his church to become a Satanist. He explained that God consequently had her killed, and said the story should serve as a warning for gay Christians.

Land: If this person has had a genuine experience with the Lord and they have trusted the Lord as their Savior, I believe that this person will be in Heaven. Having said that, is this person in an active homosexual relationship?

Caller: He is at this point, yes.

Land: Well I believe that the Lord also says that those who are his children he will chastise and he will spank. If a Christian is in a homosexual relationship or if a Christian is in an adulterous relationship for instance, outside of marriage, a heterosexual relationship, God will seek to convict that person and God will chastise that person and God will judge that person. Let me just give you an answer that’s analogous: When I was in my first church, I was pastor of a church in New Orleans when I was a seminary student, I had a woman in the church who had become a Christian and she got involved through a personal relationship with a man, she got involved in Satanic worship and she went around the French Quarter saying that she used to think that Jesus was the messiah but that now she believed the Devil was the angel of light.

I went to her and I talked to her about 1 Corinthians 5 where Paul says to give over someone for the destruction of the body for the salvation of the soul. I talked to her about 1 Corinthians 11 and I said, ‘If you are really a believer, then God’s not going to let you be a stumbling block and God’s not going to let you continue in this kind of sin, and God will chastise you and God will ultimately remove you if necessary. Now if you go along and nothing happens to you, then I have to believe that you were never part of us and 1 John 2:19 applies, you’ve gone out from us because you were never part of us and you went out from us that it might be made manifest you were not part of us.’

She rejected my counsel and six weeks later at the age of around 25 she dropped dead of a cerebral hemorrhage. I believe that God removed her because she was his child and she was a stumbling block to others. So if this person goes on and is perfectly happy in this homosexual relationship and nothing happens to him, then I would have to believe that he has never had a conversion experience. If he has had a conversion experience, the Lord is not going to let him go, the Lord is going to continue to convict him and to chastise him, to bring him back, as he did David.

Later in the broadcast, Land talked to a caller who said that Obama is a “Communist Muslim terrorist” who “might as well be Satan personified.”

Land didn’t contest the caller’s claims but said that in his opinion, “President Barack Obama is a judgment of God on the United States” because of Roe v. Wade and the legalization of abortion.

“I believe that Barack Obama, his presidency, is a judgment of God on the United States,” Land said.

Caller: Satan couldn’t wait for a gentleman like this to be in power. This Communist Muslim terrorist president we got in there, this tyrant, bald-faced lying person in there, he couldn’t wait for somebody like that to get in there because this person might as well be Satan personified, a bunch of Satanists up there running our country. They’re there because the church has not been enforcing the victory like we should and they’ve just been — God has been put responsibility on that’s not his, he’s been blamed and accused for things, we wonder why we don’t have revival, that’s partly it.

Land: I certainly think that elections have consequences and frankly I think that President Barack Obama is a judgment of God on the United States because we have allowed 54 million of our unborn citizens to be aborted legally in the United States since 1973. We have had a situation where we have allowed thirty percent of our unborn children every year since 1973 to be killed before they had a chance to live outside their mother’s womb. God is not going to allow that kind of slaughter to go unjudged, if God would send his chosen people, the Israelites, into Babylonian captivity, he will judge the United States and I believe he is judging the United States. I believe that Barack Obama, his presidency, is a judgment of God on the United States.

New Hampshire Campaign to Become 17th State to Call for Amendment to Overturn ‘Citizens United’ Stalls

Rising from her chair in the Senate chamber of the capitol building in Concord, New Hampshire – the country’s oldest chamber still in use, housing democratic debate since 1819 – State Senator Martha Fuller Clark (D-21) was unequivocal in her warning:

Citizens United is threatening our citizen-led legislature.”

Senator Clark’s words came yesterday afternoon as she spoke out in favor of SB 307, a bill that she introduced.  The legislation calls for a committee to examine the different constitutional amendments that are under consideration in the 113th Congress that would overturn Citizens United.  But in its most recent form, SB 307 needed a corrective amendment to realign the bill towards its original intent. The amendment would have declared that the committee would assume a constitutional amendment was necessary and discuss which proposal would be best, rather than to debate whether or not a constitutional amendment was needed in the first place.

By this point, the people of New Hampshire had already conveyed, through organizing, through polling, through walking across the state in the dead of winter, through the 48 town hall meetings that had just passed Citizens United amendment resolutions earlier in March, that the debate was long over: the country needs constitutional reform, and it needs it now.

Unfortunately, Senator Clark’s corrective measure failed on a 12-12 vote, with only one Republican, Senator Russell Prescott (R-23), crossing party lines to vote in favor. Russell stated on the Senate floor,

“I just can’t make the leap… that a corporation has the same First Amendment rights as people.”

Notably, State Senator Jeanie Forrester (R-2) – whose district includes Bridgewater, Bristol, Dorchester, Groton, Piermont, Plymouth, and Tilton, towns that all had just voted in favor of an amendment – refused to support Senator Clark’s correction.

However not all hope is lost for New Hampshire to become the 17th state to call for a constitutional amendment this legislative session.  SB 307 passed with the incorrect intent of examining the need for an amendment.  It will most likely be paired with a much stronger version of the bill from the House in conference committee, which could result in the stronger measure coming back to the Senate.  So it’s important to keep the pressure up.

In the face of such obstruction, a quote from Winston Churchill comes to mind:

“The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.”

Senator Clark and the people of New Hampshire have brought the truth to Concord; it’s only a matter of time before the legislature acts on it.

Paranoia-Rama: Disney's Gay Witches, Satan's Secret Plan & Rush Limbaugh's Latest Conspiracy

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

After turning the children of America gay, it turns out that Disney’s hit film Frozen is also tricking kids into embracing witchcraft. Of course, that is just one of several anti-gay conspiracy theories we uncovered this week.

5. Gays Part Of New World Order/Freemason/Marxist Conspiracy

Religious Right pastor Scott Lively, who has played a role in influencing anti-gay laws in countries such as Uganda and Russia, explained in a recent interview that he believes the gay rights movement is a demonic, Marxist and Masonic plot to impose the New World Order.

“The whole New World Order system is a Marxist system, and there are different components of it, but the fact is that the homosexuals are the foot soldiers, they’re the main foot soldiers of this agenda,” he said.

4. Muslim-Americans Putting Republicans In ‘The Back Of The Bus’

GOP politician Lou Ann Zelenick has dedicated her career to opposing the right of Muslim residents of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to build a mosque in their town. After losing that battle, now anti-Muslim activists have moved on to fighting the planned construction of a cemetery next to the mosque.

At a recent court hearing addressing the legal challenge against the cemetery, Zelenick and her supporters snapped at a Muslim student journalist and a reporter for the local NBC affiliate.

Zelenick told the student journalist that she is “tired of having to be at the back of the bus.”

3. Frozen Turns Kids To Witchcraft

After arguing that the Disney film Frozen is turning children gay, pastor and radio host Kevin Swanson is now worried that Frozen is luring kids into witchcraft. While speaking with his co-host Steve Vaughn, who alleged that Frozen undermines faith in God, Swanson said that Frozen and other “magical tales turn out to be a means by which children are led into witchcraft.”

2. Arrests Of Democrats Are Part Of A Democratic Conspiracy

Leave it to Rush Limbaugh to claim that the arrests of three Democratic politicians on corruption charges are part of a Democratic conspiracy. Yesterday, Limbaugh said that FBI investigations into the elected officials are part of a Democratic plot to purge the party of “bad apples” before the midterm election in November: “It is entirely possible that what is going on here is that the head honchos of the Democrat party [sic] are basically behind an effort to take out all of their bad apples before the election, make them old news by the time the election comes around. The timing here is obviously curious and it really is hard to believe the FBI would be working against the wishes of the regime. Isn’t it?”

1. Satan Behind Abortion Rights, Gay Equality

According to televangelist Pat Robertson, Satan is the driving laws to protect abortion rights and legal equality for gays and lesbians as part of his attempt to wipe out the human race and “oppress” people of faith.

Robertson explained his views during a rant in which he insisted that Jesus wouldn’t have served a gay couple because the couple would have already been stoned to death.

Land: We Love Gays Enough To Tell Them They Are Pawns Of Satan

Yesterday on Washington Watch, Jerry Boykin of the Family Research Council sat down with Southern Baptist Convention leader Richard Land to discuss of Military Religious Freedom Foundation founder Mikey Weinstein, who is loathed by the Religious Right for his work against religious coercion in the military. Boykin urged listeners to pray for Weinstein because “he could be just like the Apostle Paul, if we could ever get him to open up and see the light” and become “a tremendous asset in the Christian world.”

Land added that the Religious Right’s opponents are pawns of Satan who need deliverance: “We do need to pray for our enemies, those that oppose us, because they’re victims. Our enemy is the Devil, our enemy is that old lion that walks about seeking whom he may devour and who is the god of this age and the prince of the power of the air and he has these people in their thrall.”

The same goes for gay rights advocates who criticized the charity World Vision for reversing its policy on married gay employees, he said.

“It’s not that we hate gays, it’s that we love scripture and love gays enough to tell them what the truth is,” Land said. “And the truth is that God does not condone same-sex sexual relations, period. They are an abomination to him and if we really love these people we are going to tell them the truth.”

Steve Sailer Recommends Creating 'Ceremonial Head of State' Role For 'Black Entertainer'

Steve Sailer of the white nationalist site VDARE – also known as the originator of the now-popular “Sailer Strategy” for an all-white GOP – has a modest proposal for a new, segregated government leadership.

Sailer, who has apparently had quite enough of President Obama, suggests in a blog post today that “a giant empire like modern America would be better off splitting the roles of ceremonial Head of State and utilitarian Head of Government, rather than in getting them all entwined.”

He recommends that the new ceremonial position would be the perfect fit for “some senior black entertainment or athletic figure” such as Morgan Freeman or Oprah Winfrey.

He laments that instead of putting an African-American in a purely ceremonial role, “out of that urge, we elected a part time college professor to fill both jobs in a mediocre fashion.”

Having spent about 15 seconds in The Presence in 1987, Oprah remains the greatest natural politician I've ever met.

Personally, I think a giant empire like modern America would be better off splitting the roles of ceremonial Head of State and utilitarian Head of Government, rather than in getting them all entwined. The Premier or whatever we'd call him would, in today's culture, typically be some senior black entertainment or athletic figure: James Earl Jones in the past, Morgan Freeman today, Oprah tomorrow, maybe David Robinson after her.

Instead, out of that urge, we elected a part time college professor to fill both jobs in a mediocre fashion

Farah: Obama Is 'A Tormentor Of Christians' And An Enemy Of God

WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah writes today that President Obama is not a Christian but “an enemy of believers – a tormenter of Christians, a persecutor,” who believes that “God is truly the enemy because He is the author of liberty.”

Obama is steering America to an “ungodly destination” by using “abortion and homosexuality as battering rams against the Christian faith,” Farah warns, leading to “disaster, catastrophe, death, destruction, misery [and] hopelessness.”

I can’t tell you how many times I was instructed and admonished about Jesus’ words from Matthew 7, “Judge not, that ye be not judged.”

But, as a Christian, scripture informs me that we will know people by their fruits. Obama’s fruits were well-known and well-documented by the time he first ran for president. Any true believer in the One True God would have had the discernment to view what he had sown and reaped.

Today it’s growing increasingly clear that far from being a believer, as Obama claimed in 2008, he is an enemy of believers – a tormenter of Christians, a persecutor.

I believe Obama and the agenda he personifies have used abortion and homosexuality as battering rams against the Christian faith.

For the proponent of unlimited government, God is truly the enemy because He is the author of liberty. He is the enemy because no one must serve a higher god than government. Men have been placing themselves in God’s place, divining right from wrong, since the Garden of Eden. There’s nothing new under the sun. It always leads to one end – disaster, catastrophe, death, destruction, misery, hopelessness.

Obama can scarcely take all the blame for our arrival at this ungodly destination. Believers are more responsible. They let it happen. They continue to allow it to happen. They have the power to direct the nation in a reverse course – just as the children of ancient Israel had the power.

Meet Rand Paul's 'Unskewed' Birther Pollster

The Washington Post today looked into Rand Paul’s efforts to build a national political operation as he gears up for a presidential campaign, and revealed that Paul had hired Fritz Wenzel to serve as his pollster:

For the rest of this year, his national team’s chief duties will be to take the lead in their respective states in planning fundraisers and meet-ups and helping Paul’s Washington-based advisers get a sense of where support is solid and where it’s not. This is especially important in key early primary battlegrounds, such as Iowa and New Hampshire, and in areas rich in GOP donors, such as Dallas and Chicago.

“A national leadership team is an important step, and it’s a critical one for the movement going forward,” said Fritz Wenzel, Paul’s pollster. “Rand has tremendous momentum, and the formation of this team will guide him as he gets closer to a decision and [will] serve as a foundation for a campaign.”

Wenzel runs Wenzel Strategies, the group behind several wildly inaccurate and conspiratorial polls, especially through its work as the polling arm for the far-right website WorldNetDaily. Wenzel’s group has:

  • Claimed polls showing Obama defeating Mitt Romney were unfairly skewed because most “survey interviews are conducted by college kids.”
  • Insisted that Sarah Palin would be a viable candidate against Obama in a Democratic presidential primary.

Since Rand Paul is trying to distance himself from his own and his father’s extremist views, tapping WorldNetDaily’s pollster is probably not a good start to his effort to rebrand himself as a serious Republican leader.

CIS's Steinlight: Ban Muslim Immigration Because 'Muslims Believe In Things That Are Subversive To The Constitution'

In a speech to the Pearland, Texas, Tea Party last week, Center For Immigration Studies policy analyst Stephen Steinlight said that he would like to bring back the anti-communist McCarran Act in order to ban all Muslim immigration into the US.

Steinlight made his comments in response to audience member who asked, “Which is the quicker ticking time bomb: the illegal immigration through basically just amnesty, or the Muslim infiltration through radicals crossing the border?”

“I don’t know what on earth we can do about Muslim immigration, I really don’t,” he said. “I mean, if I had my druthers, we would bring back something like the McCarran act in the 50s, which barred communists and fascists on the grounds that they believe in things that are subversive to the Constitution. Well, Muslims believe in things that are subversive to the Constitution.”

“I think Islam is not so much a religion as a hideous totalitarian political creed looking for world supremacy,” he added.

He also criticized President Obama for associating with groups supposedly connected with the Holy Land Foundation trial (in 2010, a federal judge found that prosecutors had violated the Fifth Amendment rights of a number of American Islamic groups by naming them in connection with the trial). “I mean this is an administration that seems to despise our friends and love our enemies,” he said.

Questioner: Which is the quicker ticking time bomb: the illegal immigration through basically just amnesty, or the Muslim infiltration through radicals crossing the border? Which is the greater ticking time bomb for us?

Steinlight: Well, good question. I would say that they represent dangers, each in its own way, that are almost equal in their potential to be deeply harmful. I mean, Western Europe is going, if not gone. I don’t know what on earth we can do about Muslim immigration, I really don’t. I mean, if I had my druthers, we would bring back something like the McCarran act in the 50s, which barred communists and fascists on the grounds that they believe in things that are subversive to the Constitution. Well, Muslims believe in things that are subversive to the Constitution.

And we know that, we know that from their own writing and we know that from the Holy Land trial in 2008, all the organizations signing a document that said, we will destroy their evil house from inside. And, by the way, as you know, the people who are signatories have that document have been welcomed into the White House, have been honored. I mean this is an administration that seems to despise our friends and love our enemies.

It’s a great danger. I think Islam is not so much a religion as a hideous totalitarian political creed looking for world supremacy. And the only, the saving grace there is that the numbers, at least up to now, have been relatively know. But the capacity to do great damage is still there. I mean, it only took, what, 18 people, to destroy the World Trade Center.

CIS's Steinlight: Immigration Reform A 'Psychotic' 'Plot Against America' That Will Kill The Constitution

In a speech to a Texas Tea Party group last week, Center For Immigration Studies senior policy analyst Stephen Steinlight warned that comprehensive immigration reform “amounts to a plot against America” that will kill the Constitution and cause Americans to “lose our liberty.” He called GOP reform supporters “psychotic,” joked that he’d like to attack pro-immigration religious leaders with “a baseball bat,” and speculated about a potential war between Texas and the federal government over immigration enforcement.

In a speech to the Pearland Tea Party on March 18, Steinlight posited that the Gang of Eight’s immigration proposal “amounts to a plot against America,” warning that it if it were to pass, “America will become California and the GOP will wither and die.” Republicans who support the bill, he said, “are psychotic, so greedy as to be politically blind, or just stupid.”

He went on to warn that if comprehensive immigration reform passes, “we will lose our liberty and become a one-party state" and the nation will “be balkanized along ethnic and cultural lines and lose its cohesion,” bringing about “the erosion of the middle class and the emergence of a vast, restive permanent underclass” (a theory straight of the Heritage Foundation’s infamously biased immigration study). He added that for good measure, “We will watch the Constitution become a dead letter, as the rule of law is overthrown.”

But Steinlight saved his greatest contempt for the many religious leaders who support immigration reform, saying, “God help me, find a baseball bat, there would be a whole lot fewer of them around.”

We’ll scrutinize the Gang of Eight’s draft bill, S744, because it’s the establishment’s policy template on both sides of the aisle, they’re all the same. Irredeemably flawed, it amounts to a plot against America

This [inaudible] guest worker program, what it means is an exponential increase in a constituency that will make the Democratic party the permanent ruling party in America. It will make the Democrats the PRI of the United States. All America will become California and the GOP will wither and die. The center of American politics will lurch far to the left. Republicans who support amnesty are psychotic, so greedy as to be politically blind, or just stupid.

If comprehensive immigration reform passes, we will lose our liberty and become a one-party state, we will watch our nation be balkanized along ethnic and cultural lines and lose its social cohesion, as we witness what is an essence a population transfer from another country with a different language, a different culture, which will become the dominant demographic in this country. We will witness the erosion of the middle class and the emergence of a vast, restive permanent underclass. We will watch the Constitution become a dead letter, as the rule of law is overthrown.

We did a study, a huge study, we got a lot of money from our main donor. And, by the way, we divided the study along religious lines, because we were interested in watching, because religious leaders – God help me, find a baseball bat, there would be a whole lot fewer of them around – but they are all of them, right across the spectrum, are the leaders of the amnesty. From the Conference of Catholic Bishops to every Jewish organization to the National Conference of Churches, all of them are all in the same league.

During the question-and-answer session of the presentation, an audience member asked Steinlight if the federal government would “go to war” with Texas if people in the state were to start “taking care of our own border.”

Steinlight replied that if that happens, “The federal government will send the United States Army into Texas and disarm you, violently or nonviolently.”

He compared such an event to the National Guard enforcing desegregation in the South, but told the audience member not to be offended by the comparison to segregationists.

Questioner: Now what would happen if the state of Texas, the Texas militia, just decided to heck with the federal government, put our militia on the border, started taking care of our own border? Would the federal government come after us?

Steinlight: Yeah.

Questioner: Would they actually bring in the military to do it?

Steinlight: I believe they would.

Questioner: So they would go to war with their own people to keep these people…

Steinlight: That’s correct. I mean, obviously, I’m not talking about the same context at all, so don’t be offended. If you think about what happened, say, in the South, during desegregation, when governors who wanted to defend integration used the National Guard – the federal government sent the 101st Airborne Division out. What I’m telling you right now is that if Texas militia, in Washington language, ‘takes the law into its own hands,’ that is to say tries to enforce the law that the federal government will not enforce, right? The federal government will send the United States Army into Texas and disarm you, violently or nonviolently. They will not permit it. They will regard it as an act of sedition. I’m not saying it in a supportive way, I’m saying there’s no other path they would take.
