Steve Stockman Asks Religious Right Law Firm To Investigate Impeaching Obama

Not only will Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) distribute WorldNetDaily’s conspiracy-laden book calling for President Obama’s impeachment to every member of Congress, but he has also hired a Religious Right law firm to make the case for impeaching Obama, evidence he will then present to the House leadership.

In an interview with WorldNetDaily, Stockman said that impeachment is on the table:

The congressman also mentioned that he hired attorney Bill Olson to see if Obama should be impeached.

Olson’s law firm, which has worked with Stockman before, is the home of Christian Reconstructionist leader Herb Titus, who believes Obama is ineligible to be president and supports the imposition of biblical law, and claims it specializes in “biblical wisdom.”

Such biblical wisdom apparently includes helping a religious company which claims its food supplements can cure cancer.

Pratt: Obamacare Could Lead To Gun Confiscations, Concentration Camps

Larry Pratt is back to repeating his debunked conspiracy theory that the government is taking guns from veterans as part of a Nazi/Soviet plot. The Gun Owners of America head floated the false rumors that doctors are part of a government effort to confiscate veterans’ guns while appearing on the Talk To Solomon Show, with co-hosts Stan Solomon and Steve Davis.

Responding to Solomon’s claim that “the Obama administration is working to disarm every veteran” and will use Obamacare to “literally take away the rights of every American to have a firearm," Pratt alleged that the administration is spearheading “backdoor gun control.”

“They are doing it to the whole country, they field tested it on veterans, and now it’s the whole country,” Pratt said. “We are looking at a major assault on the right to keep and bear arms, it is reminiscent of Nazi Germany, Soviet Russia, where they used doctors as part of their torture routines and got people sent to the camps for improvement of their mental health.”

After Davis warned that “government-run health care” is encouraging gun confiscations, Pratt feared that doctors may soon be compelled to “submit medical information to the big computers in the sky” because of Obamacare.

Barber: 'Harvey Milk Was Demonstrably, Categorically An Evil Man'

Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber is upset that the US Postal Service will issue a stamp honoring Harvey Milk, telling the American Family Association’s OneNewsNow that Milk was a rapist and “demonstrably, categorically an evil man.”

How far we’ve fallen: An official stamp of approval for sexual perversion

The U.S. Postal Service is putting its stamp of approval on homosexual activism in announcing plans to issue a stamp honoring Harvey Milk.

Milk, who was a San Francisco supervisor more than three decades ago and was touted as the first openly homosexual candidate elected to office, was assassinated in 1978 by a political rival. Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel Action reacts to this latest promotion of the man known for his promiscuous lifestyle and his relationships with underage boys.

“Well, like so much of ‘progressive’ – that's liberal – propaganda, this is rooted in a whitewashing of reality. It's rooted in historical revisionism,” states Barber.

Activists sympathetic to the homosexual agenda have elevated Milk to the status of martyr, notes Barber, but explains that's a false notion.

“Harvey Milk was known as a pederast,” he says. “That's a man who in his mid-30s had a sexual appetite for teenage boys as young as 15 years old.” According to Barber, that has been confirmed by victims who stepped forward.

In addition to the announced postage stamp, Milk is commemorated annually by “Harvey Milk Day” in California public schools, and politicians in that state have in the past pushed for the Navy to name a ship after him. Earlier this year, San Francisco supervisor David Campos proposed changing the name of the nearby international airport to Harvey Milk-San Francisco International Airport.

Barber tells OneNewsNow that honoring someone like Milk is unconscionable and "shows us how we have entered an era where we call evil good and good evil."

“Harvey Milk was demonstrably, categorically an evil man based on his rape of teenage boys,” he states bluntly. “And the fact that our U.S. government would be commemorating and recognizing him as some kind of hero really just boggles the mind.”

The stamp will be issued in 2014.

Allen West: 'Usurper' Obama Turning United States Into 'Monarchy'

Somehow, it seems that Florida’s Allen West managed to serve two years in the U.S. Congress without ever quite grasping how our government works. In an interview with NewsMax’s Steve Malzberg last week, West claimed that in refusing to cave to Tea Party demands to defund Obamacare, President Obama was acting like a “spoiled brat child” because Americans gave him “everything he has wanted” by electing him president. Speaking with Malzberg again yesterday, West declared that actually “King Obama” has established a “monarchy” in the United States because the Affordable Care Act “is not the law of the land, it’s an edict.”

West added that Congress’ passage of a clean continuing resolution and debt ceiling hike in order to reopen the government and avoid default was actually “a large leap toward losing the great republic” of the United States.

“Shame on us as an American people to fall into this, in letting this usurper and this petty charlatan take this great country away from us,” he lamented.

When I look at the fact that Obamacare is not the law of the land, it’s an edict, I see this as King Obama, not President Obama, who is making rules that apply to certain people that kowtow or appeal to his vision of destruction of this great constitutional republic. So, I think that we have gone beyond an imperial presidency. We almost have a monarchy that has been established in the United States of America.

This is not a constitutional republic anymore, and I think people need to understand that, and with the passage of this CR and this debt limit extension, we have definitely take a large leap toward losing the great republic that men such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, George Mason,  John Adams gave us as an inheritance. And shame on us as an American people to fall into this, in letting this usurper and this petty charlatan take this great country away from us.

Rep. Steve King Just Wants to 'Unleash Human Nature'

Last night, as Congress finally ended the government shutdown and the Tea Party’s dreams of ending Obamacare through sheer force of will faded once again, Iowa’s KCRG asked local lawmakers to reflect on the 16-day shutdown and near default. Republican Rep. Steve King, a Tea Party stalwart and cheerleader of the shutdown, waxed philosophical, telling the station that he merely wants “to continue to unleash human nature” in the United States.

“I want what’s best for the long-term best interests of this country, I want it to be on constitutional underpinnings, and I want to continue to unleash human nature,” he said. “And I’m afraid we’re going in the other direction here, and that is troubling to me.”

Ken Cuccinelli Donor Linked To Kidnapping Case, Anti-Semitic Newspapers

While Ken Cuccinelli may be the top law enforcement officer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, that hasn’t stopped him from taking campaign contributions for his gubernatorial bid from a Religious Right activist linked to a kidnapping investigation. Blue Virginia notes that Cuccinelli donor Philip Zodhiates of Response Unlimited is tied to the Lisa Miller kidnapping case.

Zodhiates was named in a RICO lawsuit [PDF] filed by Janet Jenkins, whose former partner Lisa Miller kidnapped their daughter, Isabella, and fled to a Mennonite community in Central America. Before leaving the country with Isabella, Miller broke off a civil partnership with Jenkins after she renounced homosexuality and moved to Virginia and joined the church founded by Jerry Falwell, who also established Liberty University. Miller abducted Isabella after refusing a court order to transfer custody of their daughter to Jenkins.

The lawsuit depicts how Zodhiates and Liberty University School of Law, which represented Miller, were connected to the kidnapping:

36. Unbeknownst to Plaintiff Janet Jenkins, on September 21, 2009, Lisa Miller and Isabella were transported, in disguise as Amish-Mennonites, to the Canadian border by Philip Zodhiates and at least one other Response Unlimited, Inc. employee. Lisa Miller and Isabella crossed the border at the Rainbow Bridge in a taxi in the early morning hours of September 22, 2009, just days prior to the contact ordered by the Rutland Family Court in its September 2009 Interim Order.

37. In the days prior to September 22, 2009, Lisa Miller and Philip Zodhiates conspired with Kenneth Miller, a member of the Virginia Beachy Amish-Mennonite Brotherhood with whom both Victoria and Philip Zodhiates were acquainted, to arrange the purchase of plane tickets from Canada to Nicaragua for Lisa Miller and Isabella Miller-Jenkins.

41. Unbeknownst to Plaintiff Janet Jenkins, in 2009 Victoria Zodhiates (now Hyden) was an employee of Response Unlimited, Inc., and also a "student worker" at Liberty University School of Law. On information and belief, Victoria Zodhiates sent an email during this time period to her co-workers at the law school requesting donations for supplies to send to Lisa Miller to enable her to remain outside the country. Lisa Miller's attorney, Matthew Staver was the Dean of the Law School and Ms. Zodhiates's boss. Matthew Staver and Philip Zodhiates were also personal acquaintances at this time. On September 20, 2009, both Philip Zodhiates and Victoria Hyden called Lisa Miller's father, Terry Miller in Tennessee to assist in arranging her and Isabella's transportation from a Walmart parking lot in Lynchburg, Virginia, to Waynesboro, Virginia, from whence they would depart for Canada and Nicaragua the next day.

42. In early November, 2009, elders of the Thomas Road Baptist Church packed up the personal belongings of Lisa Miller in two bags. These bags were picked up from Lynchburg, Virginia by Philip Zodhiates who arranged to have the bags transported to Nicaragua by sending them with his son's school teacher who was taking some children on a mission trip to Managua. Philip Zodhiates arranged for the teacher, John Collmus, to deliver the bags at the airport to Timothy Miller. The bags also contained some supplies for Lisa Miller, such as peanut butter. –

53. In May of 2010, Philip Zodhiates contacted Kenneth Miller purportedly to arrange the purchase of hydrangea plants from Millmont Greenhouses, Inc., for his daughter Victoria's wedding. As stated above, Kenneth Miller was an employee of Millmont at that time. Upon information and belief, this transaction with Mr. Zodhiates was never recorded in the normal course of business, but instead, was fraudulently transferred through a payroll account into a check to Andrew Yoder, for $500. Andrew Yoder was never an employee of Millmont Greenhouses, Inc. On August 10, 2012, Andrew Yoder testified under oath that he received a check to cash from Kenneth Miller to enable him to bring cash to Nicaragua to transfer to Timothy Miller. Yoder testified that he believed this cash was related to Lisa Miller.

Zodhiates’ company is also closely tied to Nativist and anti-Semitic groups. Author David Neiwert described how Response Unlimited worked with anti-immigrant “Minutemen” groups in his book And Hell Followed With Her:

Headed up by Diener’s Phil Sheldon and a man named Philip Zodhiates, Response Unlimited makes its money by brokering mailing lists—hundreds of them, gleaned from right-wing organizations and political campaigns, and made available to fundraisers and organizers who can select a list of thousands of names based on their specific interests. Besides the [Minutemen Civil Defense Corps] and readers of the conservative Weekly Standard, among the lists offered by RU is one culled from readers of the notoriously anti-Semitic weekly the Spotlight.

The Southern Poverty Law Center adds that even after Spotlight closed down, Zodhiates maintained ties with its successor:

Response Unlimited, based in Waynesboro, Va., and headed by Christian Right activist Philip Zodhiates, charges $100 for the rental of every 1,000 names of subscribers to the now-defunct Spotlight newspaper. Founded by veteran anti-Semite Willis Carto, The Spotlight carried anti-Zionist, anti-Semitic and wildly conspiracist articles interspersed with ads for Klan, neo-Nazi and related hate groups.

Zodhiates also peddles lists of subscribers to the American Free Press, which replaced The Spotlight when that tabloid was shut down amid legal and financial troubles surrounding Carto. The Free Press began immediately after The Spotlight fizzled in 2001 and picked up many of its predecessor paper's propagandists. Today, the Free Press carries stories on Zionism, secret "New World Order" conspiracies, American Jews and Israel. Mixed in are advertisements for outfits like Pete Peter's Scriptures for America and Kingdom Identity Ministries -- practitioners of Christian Identity, a theology that claims that Jews are the literal descendants of Satan.

Erik Rush: Civil War Needed To Overthrow Obama Before He Imposes 'The Cruelest Totalitarianism'

Regular Fox News guest Erik Rush is convinced that a civil war is about to take place, and writes in WorldNetDaily today that Americans need to rise up like the Egyptians to overthrow the “ruthless tyrant in Barack Obama.”

“This criminal administration has the darkest of designs on the nation and its people, and we have every right and the duty at this point to resist it,” according to Rush. “Those of us who see that the course we are on, if unaltered, will either necessitate civil war or end in the cruelest totalitarianism.”

Over the last few weeks in print and on my streaming radio show, I’ve articulated my sentiment that it is past the time millions of Americans should have swarmed the Capitol and the White House, demanding the resignation of the president, his Cabinet, and every representative and senator in Congress, à la Tahrir Square in Egypt when Muslim Brotherhood thug Mohamed Morsi was ousted earlier this year.

Granted that much of this will sound preposterous and even seditious to many Americans, but the fact is such persons simply aren’t operating with sufficient information – sort of like the intoxicant aboard the Titanic who didn’t realize the ship was sinking until it was perpendicular to the ocean surface. This criminal administration has the darkest of designs on the nation and its people, and we have every right and the duty at this point to resist it. The attendant necessity to purge the government at large of communists and socialist elites, both Democrat and Republican, would be the second order of business.

Those of us who see that the course we are on, if unaltered, will either necessitate civil war or end in the cruelest totalitarianism are also aware that there is no more room for concern over being called extremists, arsonists, anarchists, terrorists, racists, kidnappers, hostage-takers, knuckle-draggers, tea-tards, tea-baggers, Taliban, or any of the other infantile slurs establishment leftists and their lemmings hurl our way.

It also bears mentioning that the aforementioned verbal abuse is no longer the sole domain of activists, entertainers and the crude epsilons of social media. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and other Democratic lawmakers have taken to employing this sort of inflammatory rhetoric in recent weeks. This, as well as the spiteful policies of the White House during the government shutdown, represents a dangerous progression of the administration’s agenda.

It is no small thing when we have such conservative stalwarts as Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, and former Alaska governor and vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin standing alongside veterans as they stormed barriers (affectionately dubbed “Barrycades” by protesters and bloggers) at the Lincoln Memorial and World War II Memorial this past weekend. It is also no small thing when Sarah Palin states that any attempt by President Obama to unilaterally raise the debt limit without congressional approval is an “impeachable offense,” or when Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn, says that “We could be on the cusp of seeing some civil disobedience” in America while discussing impeachment with a radio host and referencing the millions who revolted against Morsi in Egypt, resulting in the successful overthrow of a ruthless tyrant.

In America we have a ruthless tyrant in Barack Obama. Although he may not yet be able to act in a completely unrestrained modality, rest assured that he will do anything to gain his objectives. He has managed to have laws passed using the most underhanded political devices, and openly committed treason against the United States.

Starnes: Obama Will 'Turn The Military Against The People' And Attack Christians

On a radio commentary this week, Fox News commentator Todd Starnes warned that the US military may come after Christians, pointing to a training session in Mississippi that included the American Family Association on a list of hate groups.

Besides the patently absurd claim that the American Family Association is a “well-respected ministry” — you know, the one that thinks black people “rut like rabbits,” gays caused the Holocaust and God wanted the Native Americans slaughtered — Starnes falsely claimed that the military “labeled evangelical Christians and Catholics as extremists.”

Starnes went on to suggest that President Obama may be training the military for a potential attack on Christians in America.

“I am beginning to wonder if the Obama administration is trying to turn the military against the people,” Starnes said. “And what better way to do that than to train young soldiers that the folks down at the local First Baptist Church are members of a right-wing extremist hate group?”

Liberty Counsel Promotes Column Suggesting Obama Is Pushing White People Out Of The Military, Bent On Martial Law

Liberty Counsel today on its Facebook page promoted an American Thinker column, Is Obama Creating a Martial-law-ready Military?, which claims that Obama is pushing out “white men” from the Armed Forces and instead “promoting minorities and women,” along with “homosexuals and lesbians.”

“The Obama administration has given affirmative action in the military a dose of steroids,” Selwyn Duke writes in order to reengineer the military into a force that is “more loyal to [Obama] than to the rule of law.”

What kind of leader wants a military more loyal to himself than to the rule of law?

And why?

These are two questions to ponder when considering the strange happenings in the armed forces since Barack Obama took office.

Let's start with a hypothetical. Let's say you were a hard-left-wing commander in chief who wanted the military firmly in your corner. You'd certainly note that our armed forces have been a bastion of conservatism and Christian faith, and you'd know that its members generally weren't very fond of you. So how would you go about changing this?

Some years ago I met a very young, all-American looking white fellow who had just exited the military. His reason was that he hadn't been advanced the way he believed he should have been, and he wasn't going to remain in the armed forces if it provided no future. Now, one interpretation here is that he was a millennial with an inflated opinion of himself (he didn't strike me that way, though). Yet there is another interpretation.

The Obama administration has given affirmative action in the military a dose of steroids, promoting minorities and women -- and, I believe, homosexuals and lesbians -- at the expense of white men. By the way, is this yet another reason why Obama wanted homosexuals to be able to serve openly? After all, you can't target them for special treatment if you don't know who they are.

But the point is this: if I were that hypothetical hard-left-wing leader, I'd know that one way to change the military's political climate is the same way you do it in the nation at large.

Demographic manipulation.

White men generally vote Republican, white military men even more so, and white military men who are practicing Christians, well, that's a recipe for a left-behind left. Minorities, women, atheists and the LGBT* crowd, however, are reliable liberal constituencies. So what would I do if I were that hard leftist?

I'd create a military climate friendly toward groups that are my constituencies and hostile toward those that aren't.

Whatever your conclusions, there is of course a mundane explanation for all of this. Leftists truly believe in their insane diversity dogma and quite reflexively try to socially re-engineer whatever they can sink their claws into, be they universities, neighborhoods, businesses or even the entities charged with protecting their compassionate selves. And in this age of increasing corruption and decadence, it wouldn't be surprising to find generals transgressing against military code. Yet given that Barack Obama is a shadowy figure with a penchant for hiding his past (college records, etc.); that he has had avowed communists in his administration (Van Jones, Anita Dunn); that he seemed to belong to Chicago's socialist New Party in the 1990s; and that, according to former Occidental College acquaintance and ex-Marxist John Drew, Obama was a flat-out "Marxist Leninist" who believed in old-style communist revolution, well, one's imagination can conjure up some interesting scenarios.

Charisma: Pastor's Condemnation Of Homophobia An 'Anti-Christ Message'

The Religious Right magazine Charisma described an Episcopalian reverend’s condemnation of homophobia as an “anti-Christ message” that is corrupting Christianity: “A new, heretical, sin-affirming Christianity is spreading like a virus. How should we respond to the rise of these anti-Christ messages?”

Charisma’s Jennifer LeClaire, who regularly writes anti-gay columns for the outlet, criticized the Very Rev. Gary Hall of the National Cathedral has an apostate “caught in the snare of deception, even heresy”:

“We must now have the courage to take the final step and call homophobia and heterosexism what they are. They are sin. Homophobia is a sin. Heterosexism is a sin. Shaming people for who they love is a sin. Only when all our churches say that clearly and boldly and courageously will our LGBT youth be free to grow up in a culture that totally embraces them as they fully are.”

These aren’t the words of an outspoken gay activist at a rally. Or, well, maybe they sort of are. These words came from the lips of Rev. Gary Hall, the dean of Washington’s National Cathedral, in a recent Sunday sermon. Hall was speaking during a weekend that honored lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth and commemorated the 15th anniversary of Matthew Shepard’s death. Shepard was tragically murdered in an anti-gay hate crime in 1998.

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, a nonprofit group dedicated to exposing the homosexual-bisexual-transgender activist agendas, told the Christian News Network that Hall’s comments reflect a nation that is playing out Isaiah 5:20, which states, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

“Gary Hall of the National Cathedral is sinning when he claims that opposition to homosexuality is a sin. This is counterfeit Christianity in action—transferring the guilt before God from those who are committing sins (of which homosexuality is one) to those who oppose those sins,” LaBarbera said.

“Obviously, ‘hating’ homosexuals or being so fearful that you fail to offer the hope of the gospel to people caught up in homosexual sin is wrong, but that’s not what Hall is talking about here. He is ‘redefining Christianity’ and sin itself in a way that flips the truth of the Word of God on its head. ... The danger is that this new heretical ‘sin-affirming Christianity’ is spreading in the evangelical Church.”

This sort of deception still shocks me. How can the Very Rev. Gary Hall, who has served as an ordained minister for more than 35 years—which means he was following God long before our nation’s Christian culture deteriorated to this point—hold such beliefs? And what does it mean when the chief ecclesiastical leader and executive officer—a man who works closely with the bishop of Washington and governing bodies to shape and support ministries to the city of Washington, the nation and the world—perpetrates these beliefs? And, moreover, what does this say about the state of Christianity and the times we live in?

I believe LaBarbera is spot-on. Christianity is slowly (or maybe not so slowly) being redefined into a religion that affirms sin. We see this manifesting in several ways, from the hypergrace message that condones sin among Christians to uber-liberal denominations that ordain gays into ministry and beyond.

But there is yet good news: God is still on the throne. God is giving even the most heretical, deceived ones a space to repent. Our job is to discern heresy, refuse to align with it and pray for the captives to be set free. If one of your family members was caught in a snare, wouldn’t you try to rescue him? Many Christians are caught in the snare of deception, even heresy. If you can see clearly, then I urge you to intercede for those the enemy has blinded. Let’s not just sit by and watch the problem get worse. Let’s drop to our knees and petition the King.

Perkins: Christians Who See A Role For Government In Reducing Poverty Are Wrongheaded Theocrats

Last month, the Family Research Council’s Kenneth Blackwell hailed House Republicans for passing a massive cut in food aid for low-income families, arguing that there is “nothing more Christian” than kicking millions off the food stamp program.

FRC head Tony Perkins had a similar take during an interview yesterday with Janet Mefferd, who askin him about Jonathan Merritt’s recent article: Government Shutdown May Drive More Young Christians from GOP. Perkins told Mefferd that while Christians should be active in political affairs because government reflects the values of society, they should leave issues like helping the less fortunate out of it.

Even though “as Christians we will be held responsible for the policies adopted by this government because it’s us,” Perkins said Christians shouldn’t see the government as a way to help the poor: “The government has a responsibility to care for the poor? That’s not what Scripture says.”

After making the unsound claim that redistributive policies are unbiblical, he then said that such left-leaning Christians are “treating the government as if it had divine instructions from God to be a form of theocracy.”

Unlike Religious Right activists, whom Perkins claims would never impose their views on anyone, except of course when those views align with those of the conservative movement and then they should.

Robertson: Tea Party Politicians Need To 'Grow Up'

When Pat Robertson thinks you’ve moved too far to the right, you know you’re in trouble.

Today, for the second time this week, the televangelist criticized Republicans for staking out such an extreme position that they forced a government shutdown and threatening the country with a default. Robertson said that while he loves the Tea Party, he thinks the movement’s leaders need to “grow up and work to make the system successful.”

“Unfortunately, the Tea Party is not going along and if they don’t go along in another few hours our government defaults and that is a catastrophic thing for the finances for this great nation,” Robertson said. “So what’s happened is, instead of John Boehner being a hero and leading a vast army, he is now demoralized, unable to lead his troops and the game has gone back to the Senate.”

Boehner will now need to “let the Democrats come in and save his bacon” to prevent a default, the 700 Club host continued. “It’s not a pleasant day for the Republicans.”

Watch:

Yesterday, Robertson said that the Republicans should “wave the white flag” and concede defeat to the Democrats.

Cuccinelli Surrogate Jim Bob Duggar Stands By His Comparison Of US To Nazi Germany

While campaigning for Virginia Republicans Ken Cuccinelli and E.W. Jackson this week, reality TV star Jim Bob Duggar reaffirmed his comparison of the United States to Nazi Germany during the Holocaust.

Over the weekend, Duggar told the Values Voter Summit — an event hosted by the Family Research Council Action, where is son Josh serves as executive director — that Nazi concentration camps are “where we are at in our nation.”

Campaigning for the GOP ticket in Virginia, Duggar attempted to “clarify” his remarks by affirming his comparison of the current state of the US to the Holocaust:

"It is shocking that Cuccinelli would accept the support of a man who last week publicly compared the United States to Nazi Germany and the Holocaust," said McAuliffe's campaign spokesman Josh Schwerin.

"Ken Cuccinelli needs to immediately ask his surrogate to leave Virginia," Schwerin continued. "Mr. Duggar's divisive, hurtful, and extreme rhetoric has no place in this campaign for Governor."

Asked about his earlier decision to employ the holocaust metaphor Duggar did not back down.

"Let me clarify," he said.

"We have since 1973 (when Roe v. Wade was decided) had 55 million abortions, so what we have going on is a baby holocaust," Duggar said.

Cuccinelli joined the Duggar clan for one of the family’s campaign stop, which was sponsored by the FRC.

When Jackson met up with the Duggar’s, the Republican nominee for Lt. Governor likened himself and Cuccinelli to Patrick Henry during the American Revolution:

It also featured a fiery speech from Jackson, who said voters face a choice that's as stark as what Americans patriots faced in 1775.

He said Lord Dunmore, the last royal governor of Virginia, at the time "put out an arrest warrant out on our House of Burgesses."

This, Jackson said, prompted Patrick Henry to mount an armed resistance to the British crown.

"I don't think Mark (Obenshain), Ken (Cuccinelli) or I are in any danger of being arrested or being hanged," he said, "but I do think the choice is as stark."

Illinois Anti-Marriage Activist Compares Himself To WWII Veterans, Claims 'America Will Collapse' Under Marriage Equality

David E. Smith, executive director of the Illinois Family Institute, a state affiliate of the American Family Association, sent out a fundraising appeal today warning that if anti-gay activists fail to stop marriage equality legislation in Illinois, “America will collapse” like Sodom and Gomorrah.

Smith compared his own fight against the "evil agenda" of gay rights to that of American soldiers in World War II: “We should be inspired to defend marriage with the same courage, conviction, tenacity, and sacrifice that the greatest generation fought to defend American principles and to honor their fallen.  If we don’t stop the enemy from achieving his goal of destroying the family, there won’t be any monuments to visit.”

As a father of six children, I often wonder what Illinois will be like in twenty years.  What will it be like for your children and grandchildren?

We cannot know for sure.  We can’t predict the future.  Only God knows for certain.

I do know, however, that things are sure to be worse, much worse for our children, if we don’t do something now to stop the moral collapse, which will be hastened if our lawmakers undermine marriage by legalizing same-sex “marriage.”

I am doing everything in my power to prevent that from happening.  I’ve put tens of thousands of miles on my car and logged weeks away from my family to fight this evil agenda in 2013, and I need your help today.

I’m not alone in making sacrifices.  Many courageous people are stepping up and doing their part, including the staff and a dozen or so dedicated volunteers at IFI.  I need you to do your part today.

The Chicago Sun Times admitted this week that Leftists are still “shy” of the votes they need to pass homosexual “marriage.”  And that is because you have refused to stay silent.  Now we must finish what we started earlier this year.  We must show up in Springfield again.  The politicians need to know how strongly you feel about this attack on common sense, reason, and decency.  They have to understand that marriage redefinition isn’t as popular as some politicians and media pundits want you to believe it is.

And our politicians need to know that we aren’t going to allow them to ignore the best interests and rights of children and individual religious liberties without a fight.  I can do no less for my children.  It is my duty.  It is our duty.

A friend told me about a group of WWII veterans from Iowa that drove all the way to Washington D.C. this week. They risked arrest by passing through the barricades set up by the president to keep veterans from viewing their monuments. We should be inspired to defend marriage with the same courage, conviction, tenacity, and sacrifice that the greatest generation fought to defend American principles and to honor their fallen.  If we don’t stop the enemy from achieving his goal of destroying the family, there won’t be any monuments to visit.  America will collapse.  It is only a matter of time.  Read Genesis 19.

(Emphases are ours.)

Steve Stockman Wants Every Congressman To Read Impeachment Book

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) wants every House member to read a new WorldNetDaily book on why President Obama should be impeached. The Texas congressman told WND that he has 435 copies of “Impeachable Offenses: The Case For Removing Barack Obama From Office,” whose authors Aaron Klein and Brenda Elliott hope to kick start an impeachment movement, and plans “to distribute a copy to every member of the House.”

Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, received 435 copies of WND reporter Aaron Klein’s book “Impeachable Offenses: The Case for Removing Barack Obama From Office” and planned to distribute a copy to every member of the House.

Stockman told WND he believes the book has information every member of Congress should know, and he insists discussing impeachment should not be forbidden.

“Enforcing the Constitution and preserving limitations on executive authority aren’t just mainstream, they’re the law,” Stockman said.

Klein thinks that Obama might literally be a demon because he has been photographed with flies near him, and also believes the President is part of a George Soros/Muslim Brotherhood plot to destroy capitalism, foment an economic crisis and introduce an Islamic caliphate.

Not to be outdone, Elliott has said that Obama is part of a global socialist conspiracy and will collapse the military and merge it with an Islamic/United Nations force.

Cuccinelli's Extreme Agenda Flops Once Again At The Supreme Court

Virginia attorney general Ken Cuccinelli couldn’t interest the Supreme Court in revisiting the constitutionality of “sodomy” bans, and now the Court’s rejected his extreme anti-science attack on the EPA. The Supreme Court today took a case challenging the EPA’s ability to regulate greenhouse gasses from factories and power plants – a dangerous enough case, but not one that takes the challenge to the EPA nearly as far as Cuccinelli had hoped.

Cuccinelli, as part of his crusade against climate science, led a group of state attorneys general joining industry groups in challenging not only the EPA’s regulatory authority but also its very finding that greenhouse gasses are harmful.

While the Court declined to hear Cuccinelli’s head-on attack on basic science, it will still decide whether to grant a big boon to polluters.

Paul Gordon at PFAW Blog gives the back story of the case

The EPA concluded in 2009 that carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases are pollutants dangerous to human health and welfare.  Under a previous Supreme Court ruling, this “endangerment finding” meant that the Clean Air Act gives the EPA the power to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from new motor vehicles. The next year, the agency adopted a “Tailpipe Rule” for new cars and light trucks. Then, based on the agency’s longstanding interpretation of the Clean Air Act, it also concluded that the Tailpipe Rule automatically triggered  regulation of “stationary sources” of greenhouse gases like factories and power plants.

Industry groups and several states (with Virginia’s Ken Cuccinelli acting as a key ringleader) challenged the EPA’s rules. Cuccinelli, you may remember, abused his position as Attorney General to engage in a witch hunt designed to intimidate climate change scientists. In this case, he has attacked the EPA’s underlying “endangerment finding,” citing the manufactured right-wing “scandal” of “Climategate.” Fortunately, the Supreme Court will not be considering this aspect of the appeals, which might have given Cuccinelli’s claims some patina of legitimacy.

However, the Justices will be hearing challenges to the EPA's conclusion that it has the power under the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from stationary sources. The EPA's legal conclusions were upheld by a unanimous panel of the D.C. Circuit in a per curiam decision (per curiam is usually shorthand for "no duh") that included conservative Judge David Sentelle. According to the court, the EPA's interpretation of the Clean Air Act regarding stationary sources was "unambiguously correct" and "compelled by the statute."

Religious Right Self-Victimization In Full Force At Values Voter Summit: Fear Of Christian Concentration Camps, Bishops In Jail

After enjoying Glenn Beck’s speech about supposed anti-Christian persecution by the Nazis, participants at the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit attended breakout sessions focusing on how Christians in the U.S. are facing repression under President Obama.

In a breakout session entitled “Standing Up To the Assaults On Our Faith,” Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily alleged that the Obama administration’s supposed persecution of Christians is so bad that it is proof we have entered the Tribulation, a key period in the End Times. Farah cited Pope Benedict’s remarks “seemingly embracing homosexuality [and] seemingly embracing universalism” as further evidence of imminent doom.

Political efforts to curb the arrival of the Last Days are so few and far between, Farah said, that Christians can only rely on prayer. He urged attendees to “harness spiritual weapons that give us the real power.” Specifically, Farah called on people to join his 9/11 prayer initiative, which he hopes will guide their spiritual struggle.

Janet Porter [née Folger] also warned that the End Times are upon us, for which she naturally blamed gay people. She repeated her claim that gay marriage was responsible for Noah’s flood and announced a new project with Liberty University’s Judith Reisman to sue schools that “corrupt minors” with LGBT-inclusive curricula.

Vision America’s Rick Scarborough agreed with their dire assessments, saying that “infidels” now pull the strings of government. According to Scarborough, the Obama administration is “hell-bent on silencing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” Christian unity, Scarborough feared, “is not going to happen until a bunch of us are thrown into concentration camps.”

He also concurred with Porter’s anti-gay rhetoric, telling the audience: “You are not born gay, you are recruited.”

The speakers on a later panel, “Where Do We Go From Here? Challenging Tyranny,” were just as pessimistic.

One person in attendance asked a question about the purported takeover of the legal system by “militant homosexual leftists” while another questioner, who said she was from Nigeria, claimed that the Obama administration is even worse than Nigeria’s former military dictatorship.

Kenneth Blackwell, the former Ohio secretary of state now with the Family Research Council, alleged that President Obama, through his supposed abuses of executive power, is giving cover to dictators who hope to undermine the rule of law. He described the President’s actions as a “disservice to humanity.”

Alabama attorney general Luther Strange charged the Obama administration with leading a “direct assault” on religious freedom and claimed that state anti-discrimination laws are inconsistent with the “fundamental fabric of the Constitution.”

Dean Clancy of Freedom Works lamented that the Supreme Court issued “tyrannical” decisions in Roe v. Wade, Lawrence v. Texas and US v. Windsor, accusing the Justices of “imposing [their] radical worldview” on America. To push back against the “tyrants” in “black robes,” he urged conservative activists to push for constitutional amendments to return power to the states.

Both Clancy and co-panelist Terry Jeffrey of CNSNews said that civil disobedience against the Obama administration is on its way.

Jeffrey predicted the imprisonment of Roman Catholic bishops, followed by the laity, under Obama, whom he called an “enemy of our freedom.”

He concluded: “We ought not surrender our souls to Barack Obama.”

Rep. Scott Garrett Wonders What Obama's 'Ulterior Motive' Is In GOP Shutdown

One of NewsMax host Steve Malzberg’s favorite guests is his very own congressman, Republican Rep. Scott Garrett, who reliably offers an official parrot to Malzberg’s right-wing musings.

On yesterday’s show, Malzberg had Garrett on to discuss the government shutdown and impending debt ceiling crisis, which Malzberg of course blamed on President Obama. The president, Malzberg insisted, “wouldn’t mind the devastation” that would come if the House GOP refused to raise the debt ceiling and throws the country into default. “I just think that this president doesn’t mind inflicting the pain he’s inflicted and wouldn’t mind inflicting the devastation that would come with not meeting the debt ceiling increase,” he said.

Garrett agreed, adding, “Throughout man’s history, there are those who will call good evil and evil good and those who will not speak the truth and claim it’s the truth, and that’s what you’re obviously hearing from Secretary Lew and the president on this as well.”

The congressman went on to insist that the secretary of the treasury “calm the markets” merely by announcing that a default wouldn’t be that bad.

“You really have to wonder what is, unfortunately, their ulterior motive here,” he added.

'Values Voters' Laugh About Gay Persecution, Get Bad History Lesson From Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck devoted his address at the Values Voter Summit this weekend to the Obama administration’s supposed war on the religious freedom of Christians, a concept he illustrated with a collection of Nazi concentration camp badges. Beck suggested that those attending the summit would have been forced to wear a purple triangle patch.

Conference attendees erupted in laughter after an audience member incorrectly claimed that the purple triangle, rather than the pink triangle, was used by the Nazis to mark gay people:

Seeing that Beck was making his remarks at an event sponsored by an organization — the American Family Association — that believes that gay people were behind the Holocaust, it is curious that summit participants found it so funny that the Nazis tried to exterminate gay people.

Beck’s main contention that the Nazis went after people who “knew anything about the Bible” is also incorrect.

The purple triangle Beck held up was actually used to mark Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Jehovah’s Witnesses at the time were known as Bible Students or Bibelforscher, a reference to the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ Bible Student movement. Detlef Garbe writes in Between Resistance and Martyrdom: Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Third Reich:

Just a few months after the National Socialist rise to power, Jehovah’s Witnesses—as this Christian denomination has called itself since 1931—were banned. The older designations, Bibelforscher (Bible Students) and Ernste Bibelforscher (Earnest Bible Students), which were abbreviated forms of their official name, Internationale Bibelforscher-Vereinigung (IBV) [International Bible Students Association (IBSA]), remained in use.

Garbe also points out that the purple patch was an “exclusive designation” of Jehovah’s Witnesses: “This exclusive designation denotes, in many ways, the special place Jehovah’s Witnesses occupied within the concentration camps.”

But Beck’s false claim played right into the Religious Right’s persecution narrative, as Sharona Coutts writes:

By allowing U.S. fundamentalist Christians to believe that the Nazis exterminated ‘Bible scholars,’ Beck played into the narrative of victimization and persecution, and allowed them to appropriate the Holocaust as their own tragedy…. It is false to say that Nazis targeted ‘Bible scholars’ in the way that Beck’s audience was led to understand that term.

Even more unbelievably, Beck said that the Religious Right would never try to impose their own religious views on others because if “you truly know the Scriptures, you know the Scriptures are not to dominate someone, that’s unrighteous dominion.”

Pat Robertson Calls On GOP To End Shutdown, Warns Default Would Be Catastrophic

Republicans are too extreme and need to put a stop to their dogmatic anti-Obamacare campaign, according to televangelist Pat Robertson — that’s right, Pat Robertson. In remarks made today on the 700 Club, Robertson said that if the GOP continues its crusade to derail Obamacare, it would lead to a default that “would be devastating economically to every human being.”

Watch:

The Republicans have got to wave the white flag and say, ‘We fought a good fight and now it’s over. They cannot shut the government down and then bring about a default. We can’t do it. I mean, it would be devastating economically to every human being and the Republicans just can’t get tarred with that. So they tried and if they go to the electorate and say, ‘We tried, Obamacare was awful, we tried to get it underway and we weren’t successful, the Democrats wanted it, they fought for it and they wouldn’t let go so it’s their bill, their program.’

Amazingly enough, this isn’t the first time that Robertson has called out the GOP for being too extreme.
