Sandy Rios Wants 'Disordered' Gays And 'Trannies' Banned From The Military

American Family Association radio host Sandy Rios said yesterday that she wants to restore the ban on gays in the military because gay people are “disordered” and won’t be able to “provide strong defense for our nation.”

Rios, who is also the AFA’s governmental affairs director, was reacting to a Palm Center study that calls for an end to the military’s prohibition on transgender service members, which led her to a long rant that serves as a great example of heterosexual privilege.

Have we been so lulled into silliness and foolishness that we think that transgendered soldiers who are confused about their sexuality who want to undergo gender reassignment, homosexual soldiers who are constantly thinking about their sexuality -- and I say that with authority, having interviewed so many ex-gays and talked about this for years, there is an obsession -- their identity, they think, is their sexuality.

How many of you who are heterosexual would first of all say to someone in describing yourself, ‘I’m heterosexual, I have sex with the opposite sex’? You have much more of an identity than that, don’t you? Well for homosexuals, they claim that as an identity, it’s all about sex, so that is a disorder in itself. You can write me, I realize that’s angering words but that is a disorder because that’s not who you are, you are much more than that. It is a disorder, it is disordered thinking and if we think that soldiers that are obsessed with these issues are going to provide strong defense for our nation, I think we are foolishly denying whatever is true.

Previously, Rios claimed that the “homosexual takeover of so much of our military ” has eviscerated military readiness and effectiveness.

Rios also criticized former Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders, who chaired the Palm Center study, for writing a four-paragraph foreword for the book Harmful To Minors, in which she endorsed sexual education for minors in order to combat misinformation and STIs.

Rios said Elders has spent her career “calling for children to be sexually active” and lamented that she is “now urging for trannies to be allowed in the military.”

Bryan Fischer Urges Gay People To Remove Satanic Force In Their Brain That Makes Them Gay

Just as Bryan Fischer previously explained that transgender people can cure themselves through prayer, on today’s Focal Point the American Family Association spokesman charged that gay people can become straight if they simply dismantle Satan’s gay “stronghold” in their brain.

“A lot of homosexuals think they were born that way because they’ve got a stronghold in their mind, the world and the flesh and the Devil has gotten this stronghold, this error that’s seeped into their brains,” Fischer said. “And it’s a stronghold, it’s a fortress, it is so powerfully reinforced that people think they’ve always been this way and there’s not anything they can do about it and so they don’t even make the effort. Now that’s not to say it’s easy, but it can be done.”

Perhaps Dr. Jerry Mungadze can help Fischer implement his method of “ex-gay” therapy.

LaBarbera: Anti-Gay Activists Have Been 'Sold Out' By Chick-Fil-A's Dan Cathy

Last week, Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was not going to be weighing in publicly on the issue of marriage equality any longer, saying he had learned from his mistakes when his set off a controversy over the issue back in 2012.

Cathy's new position is not sitting well with Bryan Fischer or Peter LaBarbera, who accused him of selling out the entire anti-gay movement.

"For him now to say I'm going to pull back," fumed LaBarbera, "seems to be just a complete sell out."

LaBarbera went on to lament that gay activists are playing hardball while anti-gay Christians are playing tee-ball "and we're getting wiped out and every time a leader goes silent, you know, he's hurting the cause."

"Now I'm wondering," LaBarbera added, "did Dan Cathy do more harm than good in this whole thing?"

AFA's One Million Moms Joins Graham Cracker Boycott

The American Family Association subsidiary One Million Moms is joining calls from fellow anti-gay activists to boycott Honey Maid graham crackers over an ad that includes a same-sex couple.

The group is asking members to email Honey Maid to tell the company that they were “highly offended” by its “disrespect of millions of American families by supporting the homosexual agenda.”

In a statement, the group said Honey Maid — and its parent company Nabisco — “should be ashamed of themselves” for their “attempt to normalize sin” by “pushing the LGBT agenda.”

Nabisco should be ashamed of themselves for their latest Honey Maid and Teddy Graham cracker commercial where they attempt to normalize sin. Right away it shows two men with a baby, followed by other families, and ends with different families pictured including the one with two dads. This commercial not only promotes homosexuality, but then calls the scene in the advertisement wholesome. The ad states, "Everyday wholesome snacks for every wholesome family. This is wholesome."

One Million Moms stands up for Biblical truth which is very clear in Romans 1:26-27 about this particular type of sexual perversion.

Honey Maid is also using the hashtag #thisiswholesome. There is concern about the way this ad is pushing the LGBT agenda, but an even greater concern is the way that they are changing the meaning of the word "wholesome."

This is truly sad. If this is what Honey Maid thinks is wholesome, then my family will no longer purchase Honey Maid or Nabisco products.

Fischer: The Role Of Government Is 'To Only Approve That Which God Approves'

On his radio program today, Bryan Fischer made the case that nothing that the Bible considers to be sinful can ever be tolerated or made legal by the government because anyone who holds public office is a "minister of God" with "a responsibility to use that authority in a manner that is consistent with the truth of God."

As such, any law that gives any sort of protection or equality to gays is a violation of that responsibility because, in granting such rights, elected officials are abusing their positions in order "to approve something that God criticizes, to approve something that God condemns."

Therefore, Fischer said, gays have no right to ever expect equal treatment from the government because "the responsibility of those in civil authority is to only approve that which God approves and to stand against that which He rejects":

Mark Creech: Antichrist Obama Will Cause God To Destroy America Like Tower Of Babel

Rev. Mark Creech, the head of North Carolina’s American Family Association affiliate, the Christian Action League, is out with a new column in the Christian Post suggesting that President Obama is the Antichrist and explaining that America is tempting God to punish us like he destroyed the Tower of Babel.

“Many Bible scholars believe this very type situation will repeat itself in the last days – the day before Christ's return,” Creech writes of Babel. “A strong man will rise up, commonly believed to be the anti-Christ. He will unite the world in a cultural, political, and religious federation. As in Babel, the end will reflect a world determined to be rid of God.”

He adds that we’re seeing such a situation in America, implying that President Obama is the Antichrist who will bring about the Earth’s last days: “A popular leader rises who is given almost god-like, messianic qualities by the media and others – one who single-handedly seeks to concentrate power – one the Christian Left and proponents of the erroneous doctrine of social justice treat as an anointed one.”

“Our culture has largely abandoned trust in God for the opiate of government provision and hope, while endorsing via legalization abominable acts that God condemns,” he warns. “Fair warning, America! Look to Babel. This can't end well.”

The story of the Tower of Babel in Genesis chapter 11 is a historical narrative of the first recorded form of government gone awry. The apostle Paul wrote, "Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come" (I Corinthians 10:11).

What are some of the principles in this account that forewarn us of the corruption of governments and their ultimate end?

First, beware of charismatic leadership that unifies the masses in rebellion to God. The Bible says Nimrod was "a mighty one in the earth" (Genesis 10:9).

Second, beware of governmental concentrations of power in rebellion to God

Third, beware of a false religious or moral premise that influences government in rebellion to God.

It's frightening when true religion or morality is co-opted for some wicked enterprise and denigrated to the point that its objective becomes exactly the opposite of what it was meant to represent. This is more likely the scenario that occurred in Babel.

Genesis also says the Lord descended in judgment upon the scene. God is longsuffering and reluctant to supernaturally interfere in wrath, but He will never indefinitely stand for His purposes being thwarted. God confounded their language and forced the families of the earth to move away from Babel and accomplish what God had intended all along. That's the way it always works.

Many Bible scholars believe this very type situation will repeat itself in the last days – the day before Christ's return. A strong man will rise up, commonly believed to be the anti-Christ. He will unite the world in a cultural, political, and religious federation. As in Babel, the end will reflect a world determined to be rid of God.

Nevertheless, no matter what an individual's eschatological persuasion, the fact is, nations have seen this state of affairs occur throughout history over and again. And, it never ends well.

We're seeing it in America. A popular leader rises who is given almost god-like, messianic qualities by the media and others – one who single-handedly seeks to concentrate power – one the Christian Left and proponents of the erroneous doctrine of social justice treat as an anointed one. Our culture has largely abandoned trust in God for the opiate of government provision and hope, while endorsing via legalization abominable acts that God condemns.

Fair warning, America! Look to Babel. This can't end well.

Lively: A Revolution Is Coming Because People Are 'Fed Up' With The Lawless 'Homosexual Agenda'

Scott Lively was a guest on Bryan Fischer's radio program yesterday to discuss his campaign for governor in Massachusetts but, of course, most of the interview revolved around Fischer's and Lively's mutual battle against the "homosexual agenda."

Lively asserted that America will soon undergo both a secular revolution and a simultaneous Christian revival because people are "fed up" with the "lawlessness" that is "exemplified by the homosexual agenda."

"Homosexuality always is used a symbol of extreme rebellion against God, on the verge of judgment," Lively said. "And that's where we are now in our country. It's a powder keg and I think we're going to see some real explosive changes are going to take place":

Fischer: God Hasn't Struck Down Bill Maher In Order To Give Him A Chance To Repent

On his HBO program on Friday, Bill Maher delivered an rant against religion in which he called God an "psychotic mass murderer" and declared that America is a "stupid country" because most Americans believe the Bible's story of Noah and the Ark to be true.

Maher's blasphemy did not sit well with Bryan Fischer, who dedicated a segment on his radio program today to defending the Biblical tale of Noah's flood, arguing that it was the free will choices made by humans that left God with no other option but to kill every living thing, just as God has given Bill Maher the free will to engage in this sort of blasphemy.

The only reason Maher is able to say such things, Fischer declared, is because God allows it and the only reason Maher is not struck down on the spot for engaging in this sort of blasphemy is because God is merciful, compassionate, and loving.

God allows Maher to continue living after saying these things, Fischer explained, is in order to give Maher an opportunity to repent and ask forgiveness.

"Bill Maher might have thought he was being hip and kind of trendy and kind of cool and all of that," Fischer said, "but he is going to be judged for those careless words. God hopes it doesn't come to that. God could, by all rights, take him right now and Bill Maher would have to face judgment by the end of the day. Why doesn't He do that? Because He is patient with Bill Maher. He doesn't want to have to do that. He wants to give Bill Maher the time to come to his senses and to come to a place of repentance":

Fischer: Feminists Have A 'Fundamental Level Of Insecurity' About Their Own Femininity

It is no surprise that Bryan Fischer is not much of a fan of the "Ban Bossy" campaign, saying on his radio broadcast today that the problem with feminists is that they want to be like men because they are insecure about their own femininity and therefore refuse to acquiesce to the role prescribed for them by God in the Bible.

Feminists, Fischer said, have "some kind of fundamental level of insecurity about their own nature, about their femininity, some kind of insecurity about being a woman."

"We don't need women trying to be like men," he added. "We need more women whose ambition in life is to be a woman":

Linda Harvey Warns Gay Boy Scouts Will Bring Disaster To America

While still angered by the Boy Scouts of America’s decision to allow openly gay youth to join the scouts, Linda Harvey of Mission America is even more upset by Disney’s decision to end its funding of the BSA because the organization still bans older gay members from serving in leadership positions.

“Yes indeed we know how aggressively the homosexual movement is pushing its views and its behavior on kids and this is one of the most troubling trends in our culture right now, can you imagine how the Boy Scouts will change even more if this happens?” Harvey wondered about the BSA potentially dropping its prohibition on gay adult leaders.

After quoting from an American Family Association statement about how “Disney is sold out to promoting same-sex twosomes,” Harvey urged parents to consider the anti-gay group Trail Life USA.

“Pray friends for our nation’s boys because this corrosive culture has targeted them and these advocates of immorality would love nothing more than to see millions of boys corrupted early,” Harvey said. “That spells disaster for them as men and for America as a nation.”

Fischer: People Only Tell Pollsters They Support Marriage Equality So They Don't Look Like Bigots

Bryan Fischer is not impressed by polls showing continually increasing support for marriage equality, especially among young people who identify as Republicans, telling his radio audience that gay marriage is winning right now only because liberals and the media have brainwashed Americans into thinking that people who oppose it are bigots.

Americans don't want pollsters to think they are bigots when asked their opinion on the issue, Fischer asserted, so they just say that they support in order to tell the pollster what he or she wants to hear.

But while marriage equality is winning at the moment, it will not win in the end because, as Fischer said, "the truth never goes out of style":

American Family Association Cuts Ties With Austin Ruse After He Called For Professors To Be Shot

UPDATE: Even though Austin Ruse spent yesterday’s broadcast insisting that wouldn’t back down from his comments that left-wing professors should be “taken out and shot” because he wasn’t serious and his critics are all “dumb” “pajama boys,” today he told Talking Points Memo that he is now sorry: “I deeply regret and apologize for using the expression 'taken out and shot' on the Sandy Rios Show this week. It was not intended to be taken literally. I have dedicated my life and career to ending violence. I regret that these poorly chosen words are being used to attack my friends at American Family Radio and American Family Association.”

Austin Ruse, who regularly filled in as a guest host for American Family Radio’s Sandy Rios, has lost his gig after we reported Wednesday on his call for liberal professors to be “taken out and shot.” Ruse is a leading Religious Right activist who heads the Catholic Family & Human Rights Institute (C-Fam) and is a writer for conservative outlets such as Breitbart News and The Daily Caller.

The day after we posted the audio, Ruse lashed out at Right Wing Watch and defended his comments, which you can listen to here:

Yesterday, Ruse deactivated his Twitter account “due to leftist swarm” and the American Family Association, which runs American Family Radio, removed audio episodes of the Wednesday and Thursday broadcasts from its website. On today’s edition of Sandy Rios In The Morning, AFR host Dan Celia filled in.

On its Facebook page today, AFR said that Ruse “is no longer on the air with us and will not be filling in on AFR in the future.”

The group also said, “AFR condemns such comments, no matter who makes them.”

The American Family Association’s decision to break with Ruse is unusual since it claims that its radio show hosts – including Bryan Fischer, who is the group’s own spokesman and hosts AFR’s flagship talk showdo not speak on behalf of the group.

AFA insists that Fischer’s commentary, including racist remarks and a defense of Native American genocide that the group tried to expunge from its website, do not reflect the AFA’s views.

While the AFA cut loose Ruse, who was only a guest host, it appears to have no problem allowing Fischer to continue to serve as the public face of the organization while insisting that his bigoted views should in no way reflect upon the AFA.

UPDATE II: AFR also said his comments were “un-Christian.”

AFA: 'Gay Gestapo' Moving Christians 'To The Back Of The Bus'

The American Family Association believes that the defeat of “right to discriminate” bills in states like Arizona is ushering in anti-Christian discrimination akin to Jim Crow, warning: “Christians, please move to the back of the bus.”

On Tuesday, the group posted a letter by AFA head Tim Wildmon, which warns that the “Gay Gestapo” is “using the law to punitively enforce their political and social agenda.” They also included a poll asking which organization —Southern Poverty Law Center, American Humanist Association, Human Rights Campaign, or Freedom From Religion Foundation — “poses the greatest threat to religious liberty in America today.”

Of course, this shouldn’t be surprising since last month AFA spokesman Bryan Fischer said that opponents of the Arizona legislation are “jack-booted homofascist thugs” who are bringing back Jim Crow.

Fischer: The Fight Against Homosexuality Is The Defining Battle Of Our Time

Bryan Fischer threw down the gauntlet on his radio program today, declaring the fight against homosexuality to be the defining battle of our time.

Asserting that America's future will be determined by "whether the forces of light or darkness will prevail in the battle over special rights based on sexually deviant behavior," Fischer asserted that "everywhere that Big Gay gains ground, Christ is forced into retreat."

As such, everything hinges on this battle and if the "forces of sexual normalcy" win, then America will once again become a beacon of morality and decency for the entire world. But, Fischer warned, "if the forces of sexual deviancy prevail ... every part of our culture will be corrupted, it will be contaminated beyond repair and America ... will plunge the world into a moral abyss of darkness and depravity":

Fischer: Pleading The Fifth Is An Admission Of Guilt

By now, it has been well-established that Bryan Fischer has a pretty warped understanding of the Constitution and what it means, so it didn't come as much of a surprise when he declared on his radio program today that by invoking her Fifth Amendment right not to testify when called before Congress, former IRS official Lois Lerner had essentially admitted her guilt.

As Fischer sees it, "by citing the Fifth Amendment, she is admitting that she's guilty ... What is Lois Lerner admitting when she invokes the Fifth? She is admitting that if she speaks the truth she will be a witness against herself, her testimony would be condemning, her testimony would be damning, her testimony would make her guilty under the law. So I believe Lois Lerner, when she invokes the Fifth in a situation like this, she's admitting her guilt and the guilt of the IRS":

AFA's McCullough: Putin Invaded Crimea As A Result Of Military Drag Show, US 'Sissification'

Apparently, Benghazi didn’t cause the Ukraine crisis after all. American Family Association radio host Kevin McCullough said yesterday that Russian president Vladimir Putin decided to seize Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula as a result of a drag show fundraiser on a US military base in Okinawa.

McCullough said Putin feels he can “get away” with his invasion of Crimea “because of what he has seen disintegrate culturally right in front of everybody’s eyes in the US” along with “the sissification of our military.”

“Putin looks at the US and we’re having drag shows on our bases,” McCullough continued. “Do developments like this have anything to do with making our military leaders look less impressive in the eyes of the world? For instance, does Mr. Putin sit there and go, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to do anything Obama says because number one, he can’t keep his word, and number two, your military is now having drag shows on its bases.’”

Will American Religious Right Groups Go Ahead With Their Kremlin Summit?

As President Obama and world leaders debate whether to go ahead with this year’s planned G-8 meeting in Sochi after Russia’s military incursion into Ukraine, American Religious Right leaders are facing a diplomatic dilemma of their own.

In September, social conservative leaders from around the globe, including representatives of several major American Religious Right groups are planning to hold the annual World Congress of Families gathering at the Kremlin. The gathering is supported by political leaders in Russian Orthodox Church and will include a joint session with the Russian parliament.

American social conservatives have rallied – with varying levels of enthusiasm – to support Russian President Vladimir Putin as his government has passed aseries of anti-gay laws and joined with the church to take up other “family values” issues. These activists, in praising Russia’s renewed push on issues such as gay rights, have largely chosen to ignore the role that social issues are playing in Putin's larger plans.

Issues such as gay rights, abortion rights, and population growth aren't a side project for Putin – they're closely entwined with his tightening grip on power and what Julia Ioffe calls his “appetite for expansion.” For instance, as Buzzfeed's Lester Feder has reported extensively, Russia and its allies in Ukraine and throughout Eastern Europe have riled up anti-gay sentiment as part of a larger agenda of fomenting distrust of the EU and the West. Putin’s anti-gay crackdown has also been useful in promoting nationalist sentiment within Russia and to provide a useful scapegoat as he tightens his grip on power.

When Larry Jacobs of the Rockford, Illinois-based World Congress of Families gushes that “the Russians might be the Christian saviors of the world” or when former Fox News producer Jack Hanick, who has been active in anti-gay causes in Russia, says that “God called on” Russia to “stand up for traditional values,” they are playing into Putin’s own narrative.

In October, leaders from major U.S. Religious Right groups including the National Organization for Marriage, Alliance Defending Freedom and Focus on the Family traveled to Moscow for a planning meeting for the upcoming conference, where they met with Yelena Mizulina, a member of parliament at the head of the Kremlin's social conservative push and coauthor of the infamous "gay propaganda" bill.

In addition, nearly every major Religious Right group in the country is an official paying “partner” of the World Congress of Families; groups including the Family Research Council, the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America, Alliance Defending Freedom, Focus on the Family and the National Organization for Marriage, pay an annual $2,500 fee to support the organization, which is an offshoot of the Illinois-based Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society.

The American Right has found Putin's Russia to be an ally of convenience as they work to build an international movement opposing gay rights, choice, and religious pluralism. But how far are they willing to take the relationship?

Fischer: Opposition To Arizona's Legal Discrimination Law Is Jim Crow Discrimination Against Christians

On his radio program today, Bryan Fischer offered up another defense of the Arizona law that would allow businesses to legally discriminate against gay customers in the name of protecting "religious liberty," declaring that opposition to the law is itself an effort to institute Jim Crow laws that discriminate against Christians.

"Yeah, Jim Crow is back," Fischer said, "but it's because of the work of Big Gay and their allies, including the NFL."

Claiming that the NFL has threatened to move the Super Bowl from Arizona if Gov. Jan Brewer does not "bow the knee to the God of Gayness" and veto the legislation, Fischer asserted that the NFL is essentially trying to segregate Arizona from the rest of society.

"In other words, what the NFL is saying to Arizona [is that] if you don't bow the knee to the God of Gayness, you cannot sit at our lunch counter. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is Jim Crow":

Right Wing Leftovers - 2/25/14

  • FRC is bizarrely claiming that George Soros was behind the proposed FCC study.
  • The anti-transgender group Privacy for All Students has come up short in securing enough signatures to try and repeal California's anti-discrimination bill.
  • An atheist group that wanted to have a booth a CPAC has now been kicked out of the event.
  • The AFA warns about "the marginalization of biblical Christianity, the erosion of hard-won liberties, the acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle in every area of our culture, gay marriage accepted everywhere, and certain cults (we will leave them unnamed here) to be seen as part of Orthodox Christianity."
  • Finally, what is Robert Knight even talking about? He says "it’s getting harder every day to be a liberal" because of things like "the Ukrainians sullying the Olympics for Mr. Obama’s friend, Vladimir Putin."
