AFA's McCullough: Putin Invaded Crimea As A Result Of Military Drag Show, US 'Sissification'

Apparently, Benghazi didn’t cause the Ukraine crisis after all. American Family Association radio host Kevin McCullough said yesterday that Russian president Vladimir Putin decided to seize Ukraine’s Crimean peninsula as a result of a drag show fundraiser on a US military base in Okinawa.

McCullough said Putin feels he can “get away” with his invasion of Crimea “because of what he has seen disintegrate culturally right in front of everybody’s eyes in the US” along with “the sissification of our military.”

“Putin looks at the US and we’re having drag shows on our bases,” McCullough continued. “Do developments like this have anything to do with making our military leaders look less impressive in the eyes of the world? For instance, does Mr. Putin sit there and go, ‘Yeah, I’m not going to do anything Obama says because number one, he can’t keep his word, and number two, your military is now having drag shows on its bases.’”

Will American Religious Right Groups Go Ahead With Their Kremlin Summit?

As President Obama and world leaders debate whether to go ahead with this year’s planned G-8 meeting in Sochi after Russia’s military incursion into Ukraine, American Religious Right leaders are facing a diplomatic dilemma of their own.

In September, social conservative leaders from around the globe, including representatives of several major American Religious Right groups are planning to hold the annual World Congress of Families gathering at the Kremlin. The gathering is supported by political leaders in Russian Orthodox Church and will include a joint session with the Russian parliament.

American social conservatives have rallied – with varying levels of enthusiasm – to support Russian President Vladimir Putin as his government has passed aseries of anti-gay laws and joined with the church to take up other “family values” issues. These activists, in praising Russia’s renewed push on issues such as gay rights, have largely chosen to ignore the role that social issues are playing in Putin's larger plans.

Issues such as gay rights, abortion rights, and population growth aren't a side project for Putin – they're closely entwined with his tightening grip on power and what Julia Ioffe calls his “appetite for expansion.” For instance, as Buzzfeed's Lester Feder has reported extensively, Russia and its allies in Ukraine and throughout Eastern Europe have riled up anti-gay sentiment as part of a larger agenda of fomenting distrust of the EU and the West. Putin’s anti-gay crackdown has also been useful in promoting nationalist sentiment within Russia and to provide a useful scapegoat as he tightens his grip on power.

When Larry Jacobs of the Rockford, Illinois-based World Congress of Families gushes that “the Russians might be the Christian saviors of the world” or when former Fox News producer Jack Hanick, who has been active in anti-gay causes in Russia, says that “God called on” Russia to “stand up for traditional values,” they are playing into Putin’s own narrative.

In October, leaders from major U.S. Religious Right groups including the National Organization for Marriage, Alliance Defending Freedom and Focus on the Family traveled to Moscow for a planning meeting for the upcoming conference, where they met with Yelena Mizulina, a member of parliament at the head of the Kremlin's social conservative push and coauthor of the infamous "gay propaganda" bill.

In addition, nearly every major Religious Right group in the country is an official paying “partner” of the World Congress of Families; groups including the Family Research Council, the American Family Association, Concerned Women for America, Alliance Defending Freedom, Focus on the Family and the National Organization for Marriage, pay an annual $2,500 fee to support the organization, which is an offshoot of the Illinois-based Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society.

The American Right has found Putin's Russia to be an ally of convenience as they work to build an international movement opposing gay rights, choice, and religious pluralism. But how far are they willing to take the relationship?

Fischer: Opposition To Arizona's Legal Discrimination Law Is Jim Crow Discrimination Against Christians

On his radio program today, Bryan Fischer offered up another defense of the Arizona law that would allow businesses to legally discriminate against gay customers in the name of protecting "religious liberty," declaring that opposition to the law is itself an effort to institute Jim Crow laws that discriminate against Christians.

"Yeah, Jim Crow is back," Fischer said, "but it's because of the work of Big Gay and their allies, including the NFL."

Claiming that the NFL has threatened to move the Super Bowl from Arizona if Gov. Jan Brewer does not "bow the knee to the God of Gayness" and veto the legislation, Fischer asserted that the NFL is essentially trying to segregate Arizona from the rest of society.

"In other words, what the NFL is saying to Arizona [is that] if you don't bow the knee to the God of Gayness, you cannot sit at our lunch counter. Now that, ladies and gentlemen, is Jim Crow":

Right Wing Leftovers - 2/25/14

  • FRC is bizarrely claiming that George Soros was behind the proposed FCC study.
  • The anti-transgender group Privacy for All Students has come up short in securing enough signatures to try and repeal California's anti-discrimination bill.
  • An atheist group that wanted to have a booth a CPAC has now been kicked out of the event.
  • The AFA warns about "the marginalization of biblical Christianity, the erosion of hard-won liberties, the acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle in every area of our culture, gay marriage accepted everywhere, and certain cults (we will leave them unnamed here) to be seen as part of Orthodox Christianity."
  • Finally, what is Robert Knight even talking about? He says "it’s getting harder every day to be a liberal" because of things like "the Ukrainians sullying the Olympics for Mr. Obama’s friend, Vladimir Putin."

Fischer: The US Should Only Accept Christian Refugees

On his radio broadcast today, Bryan Fischer read from a post by Pamela Geller warning that hundreds of Muslims refugees fleeing the civil war in Syria were arriving in the United States, a development which Fischer vehemently opposed because the only refugees that the United States should accept are Christians who are fleeing Muslim persecution.

Arguing that nobody is vetting these Syrian refugees in order to determine"if they've been involved in jihad," Fischer asserted that "if we're going to bring refugees from the war-torn nation of Syria, it ought to be reserved for Christian refugees who are fleeing Muslim persecution":

History 101 With The AFA: Vladimir Lenin Was A Tsar

Pediatric surgeon and conservative media star Ben Carson sat down with American Family Association president Tim Wildmon today for a discussion of the Marxist plan to take down America. Carson told Wildmon that Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin wanted to “overcome” the U.S. “from the inside” by working to “destroy their family structure.”

“Lenin was the Tsar of Russia,” Wildmon added — quite incorrectly — before complaining about incidents when conservatives seem ignorant and unintelligent, which Carson said are part of a secret Marxist plan of attack devised by none other than Saul Alinsky.

Carson and Wildmon agreed that the Marxist offensive is upon us. “What you just described is modern day America, that’s what’s going on,” Wildmon said. “We’re living it.”

Fischer: Gay Activists Are 'Jack-Booted Homofascist Thugs'

Last week, the Arizona legislature passed a bill that would allow businesses to legally discriminate against gay customers in the name of "religious liberty."

Predictably, Bryan Fischer has come out strongly in support of the law on the grounds that gay activists are "jack-booted homofascist thugs" who are trying to force Christian business owners to engage in sin.

"They are jack-booted homofascist thugs," Fischer said "who want to use the totalitarian and tyrannical power of the state to send men of faith to jail. That sounds far more like Nazi Germany than the United States of America":

Starnes: Government Will Attempt To Criminalize The Bible 'Within Our Lifetime'

In was on Bryan Fischer's radio show last week where we first heard the absurd right-wing theory that the FCC was planning on stationing agents in newsrooms all over the country in order to "monitor" what sort of stories they ran. The entire thing turned out to be total nonsense, but the Right threw such a collective fit that the FCC pulled the plug on the study.

So naturally Fischer invited serial fabricator Todd Starnes on to his program today to talk about the issue. During the discussion, Fischer asked Starnes if he agreed with his conspiracy theory that the FCC will eventually start shutting down anti-gay radio programs and Starnes conceded that that was a very real possibility, adding his own prediction that the government will actually attempt to outlaw the Bible.

Since the opposition to homosexuality is rooted in the Bible, Starnes said that he suspects that "we are going to see, within our lifetime, an attempt to outlaw or criminalize parts of the Bible or even perhaps pulling out parts of the Bible that have to deal with those issues":

Lively: Putin Will Restore Tsarism, Defeat 'Marxist' United States And 'Global Homosexual Agenda'

While Vladimir Putin’s government is hostile to evangelical Christians in Russia, U.S. Religious Right leaders are fawning over Putin in response to his crackdown on his country’s gay community. On Friday, American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer chatted with right-wing pastor Scott Lively about his anti-gay activism in Russia, and the two hailed Putin as a hero.

Lively said that Russia is rightfully returning to Tsarism: “They’re reaching back to the Tsarist model when the Russian Orthodox Church was very strong and they had Christian values in their society, and I think it’s a positive thing for the whole world.”

Putin also won accolades from Fischer, who said that “the leader of Russia now sounds more like somebody who supports and embraces Christianity than the President of the United States, which has always been a Christian country.”

“Our country is far more Marxist” than Russia, Lively insisted. “It’s like a role reversal and I think that if other countries in the world adopt the Russian policy, we can build a barrier against this global homosexual agenda and perhaps even start to roll it back here at home.”

Fischer: Attorneys General That Refuse To Defend Anti-Marriage Laws Must Resign From Office

On Friday's radio broadcast, Bryan Fischer declared that any state Attorney General that is unwilling to defend his or her state's anti-gay marriage laws or constitutional amendments ought to declare that they "believe in sodomy-based marriage" and resign from office.

Fischer wants any such office holder to declare "I think what people do when they have homosexual sex is perfectly normal, I think it's perfectly fine, I think it's perfectly healthy, I think we ought to celebrate that in our state" and then do the "honorable thing" and resign.

"You resign and say the honorable thing for me to do is to step down so that my office can be fulfilled by somebody who can fulfill the oath of office," Fischer urged. "I am violating the sacred oath I took before Almighty God to uphold and defend the laws of this state. I am in egregious dereliction of duty and it's not morally right for me to continue in office":

AFA Attacks Two Mississippi Towns For Passing Gay-Inclusive Diversity Resolutions

In the last month, two Mississippi towns have passed resolutions recognizing  "the inherent worth of all its city's residents" that specifically included members of the LGBT community and that is not sitting well with Bryan Fischer and the American Family Association, which used its OneNewsNow news website to voice its displeasure and call for the city council members who voted for these resolution to be removed from office:

Bryan Fischer with the Mississippi-based American Family Association says it's obvious the council members didn't check with the people they represent – or with the Centers for Disease Control about "how risky and dangerous homosexual behavior is."

"It's very clear that homosexual conduct is as risky to human health as intravenous drug use," Fischer tells OneNewsNow. "I don't think there's any way in the world that the Hattiesburg City Council is going to draft an ordinance that promotes intravenous drug use. Why? Because it's risky to human health. They should have taken the same position on homosexual behavior."

...

Fischer, AFA's director of issues analysis, laments the fact that similar decisions by city leaders are becoming more common in college towns – adding that it reflects those leaders' negligent attitudes toward unhealthy lifestyles. "... These city councils, I believe, are being grossly irresponsible in the signal that they're sending to vulnerable young men and women in their communities," he states.

The AFA spokesman also argues that the vote does not represent the beliefs of the majority of residents in Hattiesburg. He reminds those residents that members of the city council serve "at the pleasure of the citizens who can do something about it" – and he adds: "They should."

AFA's Love Letter To Phil Robertson

On Valentine’s Day, I found a stack of boxed “Duck Dynasty” valentines on the 50 percent clearance shelf at Food Lion. America seems to have moved on from December’s flap over offensive remarks by Phil Robertson – along with many of the show’s former viewers – but the American Family Association hopes that fond memories of the family patriarch’s anti-gay sentiments will encourage AFA’s contributors to dig deep.

A new fundraising letter from AFA’s Tim Wildmon is built around a postcard to Robertson that Wildmon asks people to sign and return to the AFA, along with a check. The postcard reads:

Dear Phil,

By simply expressing the truth of God’s moral law you have encouraged other Christians to speak out in opposition to those who would convince our society that homosexuality is morally equivalent to heterosexuality.

Following your example, I intend to be bolder and more active in defense of God’s truth.

I am praying for you and your family. May God bless you.

Wildmon’s letter, which recounts Robertson’s brief suspension by the A&E network, portrays the support for Robertson from Christian conservatives as an opportunity to “uproot the entrenched evil that’s killing the soul of our nation.”

Will Christians and other like-minded Americans seize the moment? Will we capture the energy Phil Robertson has generated and draw on that energy to confront the entrenched fortresses of error and sexual anarchy that now dominate our social landscape?

The homosexual lobby’s outrageous demand – and A&E’s capitulation – has awakened social conservatives from their slumber and brought them to the point where they’ve had it with being insulted, demeaned and deprived of their basic rights to freedom of religion and speech.

That being the case, we’ve got to harness the outrage of Christians and direct it at helping uproot the entrenched evil that’s killing the soul of our nation.

If we fail to do this, then all this righteous anger will dissipate and our cultural wasteland will remain just that: a cultural wasteland. On the other hand, using the support that you and other AFA ministry partners provide, we will act quickly and decisively to turn this attack on Phil Robertson into a victory for our nation and for those who are to come after us.

It’s worth noting that while sometimes, when AFA radio host and spokesman Bryan Fischer says something even more offensive than usual, he and the organization claim (unconvincingly) that he doesn’t speak for the AFA, Wildmon happily quotes Fischer’s defense of Robertson and his criticism of “Big Gay.”

Fischer's Latest Conspiracy Theory: The FCC Will Shut Us Down

On today's radio broadcast, Bryan Fischer unveiled a new conspiracy theory alleging that the FCC would soon start rescinding the broadcasting licenses held by Religious Right broadcasters on the grounds that they were promoting "hate speech" by publicly opposing "the normalization of homosexual behavior."

Citing claims that the FCC will start placing researchers in newrooms all over the nation, Fischer warned that anti-gay activists who use their radio broadcasts to say that homosexuality ought to be discouraged and made illegal because "it's immoral, it's unhealthy, it's unnatural" will be accused of spreading hate speech for merely telling the truth.

When that happens, the government will side with gay activists, Fischer warned, and classify their views as hate speech, declaring that the public airways cannot be used to promote hate crimes, which will then justify a move by the FCC to "yank the license of any radio station that dares to criticize the normalization of homosexual behavior":

Creech: Marriage Equality Rulings Signal God's 'Impending Judgment'

Pastor Mark Creech, head of the American Family Association-affiliated Christian Action League of North Carolina, warns in a Christian Post column published yesterday that federal court decisions striking down marriage equality bans in Kentucky and Virginia are a “sign of the times” signaling God’s “impending judgment” on America.

“This is not the fresh air of new freedom that we smell; it is the smoke of Sodom,” Creech writes.
“[T]hese new legal precedents will essentially destroy the nation if not reversed,” he adds. “America must reclaim its sexual sanity or lose its life.”

In an irony of ironies, during the week of Valentine's, two federal judges overturned the marriage protection amendments of Kentucky and Virginia, single-handedly redefining romance and marriage.

Such court decisions are certainly a sign of the times – a sign that we are heading for an impending judgment. This matter burdens my heart greatly nearly every day, sometimes with tears.

John Phillips, the great preacher and Bible commentator once said concerning the story of Sodom's celebration of homosexuality and its ultimate destruction, the first sign of the imminence of God's judgment is a judicial blindness – an inability to make right moral judgment. Citing in Genesis chapter 19 how the angelic visitors struck the perverse mob pressing on Lot's door with blindness, Phillips writes:

"'Whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad,' said one of the ancient philosophers Not so! Whom God would destroy, He first makes blind. There comes a point in the rising tide of human wickedness, where God acts. In preparation [for His judgment] He blinds. The process takes various forms; in Pharaoh's case, God hardened his heart; in a coming day He will send a strong delusion so that they will believe 'the lie.' It is a dangerous thing to transgress with arrogance and persistence the laws of God."

The CP notes that Judge Heyburn said in the Kentucky case that the state "cannot impose a traditional or faith-based limitation upon a public right without a sufficient justification for it." Contrary to the erroneous assertions of many, the Constitution itself was based in the law of nature's God. The Scriptures declare the homosexual relationship "unnatural" (Romans 1:26-27), not in the sense of what is allegedly natural for the heterosexual and the homosexual, but natural in function.

Not only is the Constitution based in eternal verities that come from the Judeo-Christian ethic, but neither is there any legal basis for redefining marriage as a union of two people regardless of their gender. The Constitution provides no right to same-sex marriage and even the U.S. Supreme Court has declared the states have a pre-eminent duty for determining marriage's meaning. Nevertheless, radical activist federal judges are saying that whenever the state defines the institution as one man and one woman, it's discriminatory.

Well, if it's discriminatory to circumscribe marriage traditionally, then it's just another form of discrimination to deny marriage to polygamists, polyamorists, incestuous couples, and even pedophiles. Are we to believe such couplings often practiced by pagan cultures of the past, which were either incinerated or reduced to ruins for their sexual deviance by God's own hand, are somehow now in the best interest of our great Republic? Will we legally visit and remove the ban on these too? With rulings such as these, there is nothing to prevent it.

I suggest it is both madness and blindness. And these new legal precedents will essentially destroy the nation if not reversed. America must reclaim its sexual sanity or lose its life.

This is not the kind of judicial blindness represented by Justice with the blindfold over her eyes and the scales in her hand. Instead, it makes a mockery of it. This instead is a visionless Justice, groping her way through the darkness of peril.

Phillips writes, "If there is one thing that marks perversion, it is its deep-seated character. As a cancerous cell in a healthy body grows and spreads until it destroys the health of the whole body, so perverted lust entrenches itself and takes over the life."

If this legal trend continues, we are now seeing the beginning of a new era – an era of judicial sightlessness – the beginning of our judgment as a nation – the start of our end.

This is not the fresh air of new freedom that we smell; it is the smoke of Sodom.

God save us.

Pussy Riot's American Detractors

Two members of the feminist punk band Pussy Riot, who in 2012 were sentenced to two years in a penal colony for staging a protest in a cathedral, were detained again in Sochi, Russia, today. The two were released after a few hours, during which they say that they were beaten by police .

While people across the world have held up the Pussy Riot prosecution as an example of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s human rights abuses, the group has had some strong detractors in the American right. Just as with Russia’s recent crackdown on LGBT people, the ordeal of Pussy Riot has divided the American conservative movement. While Texas senator Ted Cruz, a Tea Party hero, last month criticized the prosecution of the band (whose name he nevertheless wouldn’t say), some of his allies on the Religious Right have cheered Putin on.

Shortly after the sentencing of Pussy Riot’s members, Janice Shaw Crouse of Concerned Women for America – also a board member of the Rockford, Illinois-based World Congress of Families – wrote a column arguing that the band was guilty of “religious bigotry” and should “accept responsibility for [their] actions.” At a World Congress of Families event earlier this month, Crouse repeated that she had “no problem whatsoever” with the Pussy Riot prosecution.

The Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute (C-FAM), a close ally of the World Congress of Families that works to oppose gay rights and reproductive rights advances at the United Nations, has repeatedly defended the Pussy Riot prosecution on its blog, calling them a "small group of female hooligans" and comparing them to 1960s political "terrorists."

Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan also defended Putin’s actions against Pussy Riot, praising the Russian president for “trying to re-establish the Orthodox Church as the moral compass of the nation it had been for 1,000 years before Russia fell captive to the atheistic and pagan ideology of Marxism.”

The American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer praised Putin’s supposed protection of “Christian values,” calling him a “lion of Christianity.”

As we discuss in our “Globalizing Homophobia” report, the anti-gay part of Putin’s agenda has caught the imagination of American social conservatives, who have rallied to support the Russian president’s defense of “Christian values.”

Putin’s targeting of Pussy Riot is closely linked to this crackdown on gay rights that has been enthusiastically embraced by American conservatives. Both are part of a broader campaign to stir up popular sentiment against minority rights: On the very same day that the Russian parliament passed its infamous “homosexual propaganda” ban, it also responded to the Pussy Riot controversy by imposing an anti-blasphemy law that imposes a three-year prison sentence for “offending religious sensibilities.”

AFA: Impeach Eric Holder Over Gay Rights Stance

The American Family Association is demanding that the House move to impeach Attorney General Eric Holder for the supposed crime of treating legally married same-sex couples ... as legally married.

United States Attorney General Eric Holder, this week, has again overstepped the boundaries of the law when he arbitrarily ordered that homosexual couples will now receive government benefits reserved only for natural marriage status. This applies even in states that have laws defining marriage as only between one man and one woman.

Taking a nod from the playbook of his boss, President Barack Obama, Holder wielded his own pen and paper, trampling on states' rights and disenfranchising voters in states defining marriage as only between one man and one woman.

It is time for Eric Holder to go!

...

It is the sworn duty of every member of Congress to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States. Allowing Eric Holder to remain in office unchallenged is a violation of that duty. Action must be taken to stop the abuse of power in the attorney general’s office.

Urge your representative to press for the impeachment of Attorney General Eric Holder for high crimes and misdemeanors.

In a sample email for members to send their congressmen, the anti-gay AFA claims that Holder's pro-equality move violates their "rights and freedoms":

There is no room for political corruption in government and when it is discovered, it is the duty of Congress to take immediate and swift action against it.

...

The American people desperately need leaders we can trust. Our district deserves representation that will firmly stand and defend our rights as citizens. And when rights and freedoms are being threatened through poor leadership at the Department of Justice, it is your sworn obligation to take steps necessary to protect our state and its citizenry.

Bachmann: Obamacare Will Be Repealed Because 'God Listens To His People' And Will Answer Their Prayers

Last year, Rep. Michele Bachmann told James Dobson that "God is going to answer our prayers" and bring about the repeal of Obamacare ... and it looks like she is maintaining her faith, asserting that if Christians will pray, God will deliver the Senate to Republicans in the midterm election so that the party can finally repeal Obamacare.

Speaking with the American Family Association's Sandy Rios, Bachmann declared that "God listens to his people and I think if believers humble themselves, confess their sins, and pray, I think God hears from us, hears our hearts and He moves, He moves in miraculous ways."

As such, Bachmann expects to "see a very strong election result this fall, both in terms of winning over the Senate and holding on to the House" and, most importantly, stopping Hillary Clinton from winning the White House in 2016.

But, Bachmann warned, "it isn't a guarantee; we've got to do a lot of work between now and then, particularly on our knees in prayer":

AFA Michigan Warns LGBT Nondiscrimination Ordinance 'Threatens' Women

Residents of Bay County, Michigan, are receiving robocalls from the state chapter of the American Family Association urging them to reject a proposed nondiscrimination ordinance that the group claims “threatens religious freedom and women’s privacy rights by giving special protections to individuals involved in homosexual behavior or cross-dressing.”

The Bay City Times has posted a recording of the robocall, in which AFA Michigan president Gary Glenn calls the LGBT-inclusive nondiscrimination ordinance a “discriminatory law.”

The ordinance would prohibit [pdf] the county government from discriminating on the basis of “race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, height, weight, marital status, physical or mental limitation, familial status, sexual orientation, or gender identity/expression.” It would not apply to private businesses, although Glenn has nevertheless fretted that it would require a Christian bookstore to “hire a man who comes to work wearing a dress.”

A public hearing on the ordinance is being held this afternoon. If it passes, Bay County will become the first in Michigan to adopt such an ordinance.

Rios: Gay Rights 'War Between People Who Love This Country' And Those Who Want to 'Destroy' It

The American Family Association’s Sandy Rios is, to say the least, upset about Attorney General Eric Holder’s recent decision to extend  many rights in the justice system to same-sex married couples. In fact, Rios tells the AFA’s OneNewsNow today, we are now in “a war between people who love this country and want to protect and preserve it and their children and future generations, and those who literally want to undermine and destroy its laws, its nature, [and to] fundamentally transform it."

Rios adds the executive branch "is out of control" by refusing to enforce laws passed by Congress and then granting rights to homosexuals.

"This is a fight over the survival of the country," she shares. "This is a war between people who love this country and want to protect and preserve it and their children and future generations, and those who literally want to undermine and destroy its laws, its nature, [and to] fundamentally transform it."

AFA Affiliate: US Should Adopt Russian 'Gay Propaganda' Law To Curtail GLSEN

Laurie Higgins of the American Family Association-affiliated Illinois Family Institute is a big fan of Russia’s “gay propaganda” law, and she writes today that the United States should impose a similar law here in order to restrict the work of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN).

She claims that GLSEN is behind the “censorship” of anti-gay views, because apparently bigotry is needed in schools for the sake of balance, and urges the US to adopt a Russia-style propaganda law in order to curb GLSEN’s “totalitarian” grip over schools.

Google’s recent “doodle” announces to the world that Google is gaga over homosexuality-affirming propaganda for minors. Google’s doodle pokes a virtual rainbow-colored flag in the eye of Russian president Vladimir Putin for signing into law a bill that protects minors from homosexuality-affirming propaganda. A financial blockbuster of a company with roots in the country founded to “promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty” pro-actively endorses the propagandizing of children while a corrupt totalitarian cockalorum opposes it. Curiouser and curiouser.

The fanciful notion that having “two mommies” is ontologically and morally indistinguishable from having a mother and a father is not a fact. Presenting that non-fact to, for example, five-year-olds in government schools is propaganda. And presenting this non-fact to children is not a loving act even if it “feels” good to “educators” who don’t think about or discuss the issue deeply.

Exposing minors to homosexuality-affirming propaganda is nowhere more troubling than in our public schools where neither children nor teachers are encouraged to study in depth all sides of issues related to homosexuality. Quite the contrary. Curricula and supplementary resources and activities are controlled by “progressive” dogma, the kind of dogma promulgated by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). (Privately, “progressive” teachers actually scoff at the suggestion that there are sides other than theirs worthy of study.)

Ask any conservative public school teachers if their colleagues or administrators ever present resources that challenge “progressive” ideas about homosexuality in professional development meetings. And ask them if they feel as free to express their moral and political beliefs in faculty meetings (or in the classroom) as their “progressive” colleagues do.

“Agents of change,” secure in their tenured positions in public schools, share a certain esprit de corps with totalitarian regimes. They all hatch plans sub rosa to control the beliefs of others. Unfortunately, those victims—I mean, students—happen to be other people’s minor children.

Until our publicly subsidized educators relinquish their white-knuckled grip on curricula with their de facto enforcement of censorship, perhaps we need an anti-propagandizing-to-minors law.
