Brian Brown: Gay Rights Activists Reviving Jim Crow With 'Anti-Christian Bigotry'

In a conference call in February about Arizona’s proposed “right to discriminate" bill, National Organization For Marriage president Brian Brown counseled fellow Religious Right activists to turn accusations of anti-gay discrimination around and accuse gay rights activists of “anti-religious” and “anti-Christian bigotry.”

Brown was the guest on a weekly call held by Staying True to America’s National Destiny (STAND), an organization run by former Virginia GOP lieutenant governor nominee E.W. Jackson.

Noting that opponents of Arizona’s bill – which was later vetoed by Gov. Jan Brewer – pointed out its similarities to Jim Crow laws, Brown said, “in fact, it’s the reverse” and that gay rights opponents are the ones facing systematic discrimination.

He advised the activists on the call to claim that opponents of gay rights are the real victims: “So, when they bring up discrimination, we need to turn it on its head and say, this is about anti-religious, specifically in some cases, anti-Christian religious bigotry, and there’s no place for this in this country. The discrimination is there, but right now what’s happening is the discrimination is coming from those that want to punish, repress and marginalize individuals and organizations that stand up for their religious beliefs.”

Whether it’s being forced to photograph a ceremony that you don’t agree with, forced to create a same-sex marriage wedding cake, whatever it is, that’s a very different thing than saying this is somehow Jim Crow all over again. In fact, it’s the reverse. What proponents of same-sex marriage are attempting to do is to coerce Americans to leave their faith at the door when they enter the public square, leave their faith at the door if they own a business.

So, when they bring up discrimination, we need to turn it on its head and say, this is about anti-religious, specifically in some cases, anti-Christian religious bigotry, and there’s no place for this in this country. The discrimination is there, but right now what’s happening is the discrimination is coming from those that want to punish, repress and marginalize individuals and organizations that stand up for their religious beliefs.

And what they’re trying to do is to constrain religious liberty to a new term: freedom of worship. Well, our founders didn’t die and come here for freedom of worship, they came here for religious liberty, to practice in the public square, not only within their houses of worship what they believed, but to go out into the community and act on it. And this is one of the important points when we debate this, is to not accept this new language of quote-unquote ‘freedom of worship.’ We believe in religious liberty, we believe in freedom of conscience. We don’t accept the idea that people should be punished in the public square for trying to live out the Gospel call.

E.W. Jackson: Gays and Lesbians are 'Very Sick People Psychologically, Mentally and Emotionally'

In his second interview with Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality and pastor John Kirkwood, Bishop E.W. Jackson launched into another blistering tirade against gays and lesbians. The anti-gay activist said that gays and lesbians have “perverted” minds and are “very sick people psychologically, mentally and emotionally,” and bigoted against African Americans and Christians. He went on to say that gays and lesbians seek societal approval because “they’ll never feel satisfied because in their heart of hearts” they know “it is immoral, it is perverse, it is degenerate” and will ultimately never “feel at peace.”

Their minds are perverted, they’re frankly very sick people psychologically, mentally and emotionally and they see everything through the lens of homosexuality. When they talk about love they’re not talking about love, they’re talking about homosexual sex. So they can’t see clearly. Jesus said ‘when the eye is dark the body is full of darkness.’ Let me come back to this whole issue of their using the black community because here again some of the most vicious attacks ever leveled against any black conservative or black Christian for that matter has come out of the homosexual community.

This is what they do, they lie because they need—look, I am convinced of this, this is not ultimately about civil rights, it’s not ultimately about not being bullied or being tolerated, this is ultimately about legitimacy. They need it because inside they don’t have it and they’re hoping that if the can ultimately get everybody to approve then they’ll finally feel satisfied that this is really okay but the reality is they’ll never feel satisfied because in their heart of hearts there will always be that place that God put there that says this is wrong, it is immoral, it is perverse, it is degenerate, and there is nothing they can ever do to overcome that so they got to try to change the culture hoping that it will make them feel at peace.

Jackson added that homosexuality “poisons culture, it destroys families, it destroys societies” and will lead to God’s judgment, agreeing with Kirkwood that homosexuality is a “super sin” since gays seek to “sexualize” children.

Jackson: Homosexuality is a horrible sin, it poisons culture, it destroys families, it destroys societies; it brings the judgment of God unlike very few things that we can think of.

Kirkwood: It is a super sin because it reaches far beyond the bounds of what happens between two men or two women in their bedroom, it’s crushing our Constitution and it’s stripping us of our religious freedom, that sounds pretty super to me.

Jackson: Amen, I could not agree with you more. Look, it also attempts to poison our children, divide them from their parents and the teaching of the church and basically turn them into pawns for that movement so that they can sexualize them at the earliest possible age. It really is insidious and I agree with you, it is a super sin.

He also warned that gay rights advocates have an “authoritarian, totalitarian spirit” and seek to put anyone who disagrees with them in jail. Jackson even claimed that supporters of gay rights “want to destroy” their largely Christian opponents but will ultimately have to “stand before Him in judgment for their rebellion.”

It’s an authoritarian, totalitarian spirit that has decided they know what’s best for everyone, they know that homosexuality is just great and just fine, forget about the Bible, forget about your faith, forget about what God has taught us, forget about what nature reveals to us and go along with them. If you don’t, you are the enemy and they want you declared a hate group, they want you declared a far-right-wing nut who needs to be perhaps even put in jail. This is one of the concerns I have with a party that is affiliated with this kind of extremism.

They’ve got to transform the culture in order to make their lifestyles fully acceptable to everyone. I used two words to describe what they’re trying to do: authoritarian and totalitarian, and I believe that. I believe that they are of a mindset that says we want to destroy in any way we need to anyone who dares oppose this agenda, that’s a very, very dangerous approach. They don’t just say tolerate us and you may think we’re wrong and that’s okay; no, it’s not okay for you to even think that or to believe that even if you do so because of sincerely held religious beliefs, you better either change your beliefs or prepare to suffer persecution and that’s just where they’re coming from. They are using every tool in the culture in order to get it done, every business that will go along with it, every TV show, they got plenty of support from Hollywood, they’re using literature, magazines, you name it, they are continuously telling us this is good, this is right, this is okay. But they got one little problem and that is that God has condemned it and there is nothing they will ever be able to do about that and they will stand before Him in judgment for their rebellion.

Jackson and LaBarbera later discussed CNN anchor Don Lemon, who LaBarbera once again argued is gay because he was abused as a child. Jackson concurred and said it is “tragic” that “people who have been hurt and wounded, instead of seeking deliverance from it, they perpetuate that wound and they transmit it to others” and “introduce [homosexuality] to young people the same way they were introduced.” He said that he wishes gays and lesbians could see how loving people like LaBarbera and himself are but they can’t “because they’re spiritually darkened.” Later, Jackson complained that gays have “recruited” so many young black men into homosexuality through abuse and fatherlessness that black women are complaining that most of the “nice looking men” are gay.

It’s a very sad situation that people who have been hurt and wounded, instead of seeking deliverance from it, they perpetuate that wound and they transmit it to others. This is why I am absolutely convinced that they want to inculcate youth with the idea that homosexuality is okay, I think what they’re often doing is repeating what has happened to them because it’s been introduced usually at a young age and early on in their lives and they want to do the same thing to others. So other than being a force for helping people to avoid it and to be delivered from it, they have instead become a force for trying to introduce it to young people the same way they were introduced and it’s really tragic. Look, they claim that we hate them and there is nothing we can do to persuade them otherwise because if you don’t go along with what they want to do they’re going to label you as a hater. But if they could see into our hearts and see the love of God that we have for them and the desire to see them set free they’d have a whole new picture but they simply can’t see it because they’re spiritually darkened.

I don’t have any data or study to give a definitive answer to this but I can tell you based on anecdotal observation and experience, I’ve heard a lot of young black ladies that a lot of young black men seem to be gay. I’ve heard them complain about it, they say ‘so many of these guys are homosexuals’ and they are frankly frustrated by it because they’re saying these are often nice looking men, they look like they can build a life for themselves but they’re not interested in a marriage to a woman, they’re interested in being with another man. There’s something that is going on in the community and I think fatherlessness has contributed to it greatly because if you haven’t been loved by your father, just like young ladies do, young men can do the same thing. They can make the mistake, particularly if they are recruited into it, they find a man who will love them and give them what they’re looking for but sexualize them then they end up for the rest of their lives end up looking for love in all the wrong places.

E.W. Jackson: God will turn Black Voters 'Overwhelmingly' against Obama and Democrats in November

Bishop E.W. Jackson of Staying True to America’s National Destiny (STAND) continues to tell (largely white) Religious Right leaders that black voters are about to move against President Obama in huge numbers to punish him for supporting marriage equality for gays and lesbians. While Jackson came in fourth place in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate in Virginia with less than 5 percent of the vote, he won accolades in the conservative movement for his new video comparing Democrats to salve masters.

While speaking to talk show host Janet Mefferd, Jackson claimed that his video is part of a larger move of God to move African American voters against Obama and other Democrats. He told Mefferd that black Christians are “overwhelmingly” supporting his mission to punish the Democrats for backing gay equality, saying that the party is “in rebellion against God” and lost the confidence of Black America.

Unfortunately for Jackson, polls show Obama receiving over 90 percent of the black vote, in line with past elections showing tremendous support for Democratic presidential candidates among African Americans.

Jackson: When the Democrat Party [sic] said we’re making same-sex marriage a part of our platform and the President came out in support of it I think those were straws that broke the camel’s back and people say ‘you know, we’ve had it.’ Black folks have voted overwhelmingly against these things when they’ve come up on state constitutional questions and now I think many are saying, ‘you know what I voted for this president the first time, I cannot vote for him again and I cannot support this party because it’s in rebellion against God.’

Mefferd: What has been the reaction, you have mentioned a lot of people have been reacting to your video and overwhelmingly you’ve had great support from black pastors, what about rank and file black Christians listening to what you’ve had to say, are they with you?

Jackson: I think overwhelmingly yes. I think there’s a generational issue here and people ask me, ‘how can the black community support people who just absolutely reject their most core values’ and I said because it’s not logical, it’s emotional. There’s a sense of fear, there’s a sense that this is what we’re supposed to do, but I think younger people are coming along. I noticed younger pastors, when I said younger I’m not talking about 20s and 30s I think in the 50’s they’re saying ‘you know what we need to take another look at this?’ I am finding that rank and file black folks have come up to me and they’ve said: how do I change my registration? I’ve voted for this party in the past, I’ve been a kneejerk Democrat, I’m never going to do that again. I’ve had people come to me in tears and say ‘thank you for waking me up.’ God is doing something Janet, it’s far beyond me and that video, I believe God is doing something to stir the hearts of His people as an eagle stirs a nest.

Later, while discussing the manufactured scandal regarding the New Black Panther Party case, Jackson said that the Justice Department has “turned loose their investigative powers on anybody who seems to question them” and that the Obama administration is “going to try to hurt you” if you stand in the way of their supposedly anti-Christian agenda.

Jackson: I complained when they intimidated voters during the last election and you can imagine what kind of response I got from Eric Holder’s Department of Justice, absolutely none. They ignored me. In fact if you press too hard apparently they have actually turned loose their investigative powers on anybody who seems to question them, they’ve done that on more than one occasion to people. So it’s just clear to me that we’ve got in a sense an administration that’s decided it’s not interested in God, the Bible, Christianity or any of that, it’s interested in pursuing its own willful agenda and if you get in the way, they’re going to try to hurt you. We just need to make sure that we are prayed up and we’re trusting in God because He is our ultimate protection anyway. Even though STAND does not endorse candidates, we’re standing on principle; I trust that the outcome of this election will at least begin to move the country back toward more traditional values, toward our Constitution, our Declaration and our Judeo-Christian principles.

E.W. Jackson: Pro-Gay Rights Liberals 'Have Done More to Kill Black Folks' than the 'Ku Klux Klan'

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality played host to failed Republican Senate candidate E.W. Jackson, who received a hero’s welcome over his new campaign calling on African Americans to ditch the Democratic Party over gay rights. While President Obama has a 94-0 lead among black voters, Jackson consistently insisted during the interview that Obama’s support in the African American community is collapsing. He also argued that Obama never would have been elected if he were white, accusing him of having close ties “with a lot of Communists” and showing “a lot of sympathy for even radical Islam,” and said no one should trust any person who supports abortion rights or gay equality because they are “in rebellion against God.”

If he were white with the associations that he’s had I don’t think he would have gotten elected, I think the American people would have said ‘no this guy is potentially too dangerous to put in the power of the presidency.’ With his association with Bill Ayers, with Jeremiah Wright, his association growing up with a lot of Communists and having this apparently very close relationship with Islam. I don’t think anybody fully knows just how close that relationship is yet, I think he downplays it, but clearly he grew up in a Muslim country, he knows the Koran and so he seems to have a lot of sympathy for even radical Islam, unwilling to call it terrorism, unwilling to deal with it. I think had he been white I think people would’ve said, ‘no I can’t, we can’t trust this guy.’ … If you don’t get the life issue right I don’t know why I should trust you with anything else. If you are going to be in rebellion against God, the Bible says rebellion is the sin of witchcraft, and you’re going to be in rebellion against God on His definition of the family but yet you want me to entrust you with power to represent me in the highest office of the land? No thank you.

But Jackson also commended LaBarbera over his article knocking Paul Ryan for stating that while Don’t Ask Don’t Tell should never have been repealed, he does not expect a Romney-Ryan administration to re-implement the discriminatory policy. Jackson said, in face of all the evidence, that “the military has been decimated” by the repeal of DADT. “It’s an abomination and it’s only going to weaken us militarily and they need to undo it and we need to keep the pressure on to let them know that that’s what we expect,” Jackson maintained.

We need to hold Republicans accountable the same way we hold Democrats or anybody from any party, small or large, hold them accountable for what they say they’re going to do and for the things that we believe in. So I’m glad you jumped on them, somebody needed to jump on them. The military has been decimated by this lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender policy that has now been implemented. It’s an abomination and it’s only going to weaken us militarily and they need to undo it and we need to keep the pressure on to let them know that that’s what we expect.

After LaBarbera brought up the HIV rate among young black gay men, Jackson said that homosexuality is “killing black men by the thousands” and that liberals who favor gay rights “have done more to kill black folks whom they claim so much to love than the Ku Klux Klan, lynching and slavery and Jim Crow ever did.”

Jackson: It just incenses me when they say ‘you’re haters,’ we don’t hate anybody, we don’t hate anybody, we disagree with them, we don’t hate them, we love them, we pray for them, but truth is truth, right is right. We’ve got to stand up because what they’re doing, what they’re promoting is killing people, and you’re right it is killing black men by the thousands.

LaBarbera: If the media cared more, if people actually cared more about these people, they would actually associate the behavior with the problem but it is like the elephant in the room, it is the one thing you can’t talk about, we see young African American men contracting HIV at astonishing rates and yet it’s not talked about at all as a problem of homosexual behavior, that’s the astonishing thing.

Jackson: If you talk about it you’ll be accused of being a racist just for bringing it up, which is so stupid. Liberalism and their ideas have done more to kill black folks whom they claim so much to love than the Ku Klux Klan, lynching and slavery and Jim Crow ever did, now that’s a fact.

E.W. Jackson: Democrats Have an 'Agenda Worthy of the Antichrist'

Bishop E.W. Jackson has embarked on a campaign following his failed Senate bid to convince black voters to reject the Democrats’ “anti-God” views and partake in a “mass exodus of Christians from the Democrat party.” Today in an opinion piece in the Washington Times, “Blacks are abandoning the Democratic Party,” Jackson asserted that African Americans will abandon the Democratic party over the issues of abortion rights and gay equality, incredulously asking how Democrats have “managed to hold on to black Christians in spite of an agenda worthy of the Antichrist?” “Mr. Obama’s commitment to the radical left’s anti-Christian, anti-God politics may cost him the election,” Jackson writes, “because a constituency he has taken for granted has awakened to the truth that being the first black president is not enough.” Of course, recent polling shows that Obama has a commanding 94-0 lead among black voters.

I was raised to be an FDR Democrat because my father was a young man during the Depression and credited President Roosevelt with saving him from starvation. “The Republicans only care about rich people,” I was told. This was more than 40 years ago. In spite of my childhood indoctrination, as a young man newly committed to my Christian faith, I had a crisis of conscience in the late 1970s. Massachusetts Democrat Barney Frank was pushing the homosexual agenda. How could I, as a Christian, be committed to a party led by Mr. Frank? In the end, I could not. My desire to be in a right relationship with God and my faith was greater than my desire to be approved by my father, my family or the black community. My wife and I, then Massachusetts residents, left the Democratic Party in 1980 and never looked back.

Democrats now have fully embraced an abortion policy that amounts to infanticide. They have also made the lesbian-homosexual-bisexual-transgender agenda their vision for America. How have they managed to hold on to black Christians in spite of an agenda worthy of the Antichrist? They have shown a ruthless willingness to frighten black voters with outright lies about the plans of conservatives and Republicans. Vice President Joseph R. Biden’s “they gonna put y’all back in chains” was not a gaffe. It is part of the Democrats’ strategy of using fear to keep blacks as a captive audience. I always have believed that such lies could not distract black voters forever or keep them from noticing the increasingly anti-Christian radicalism of the Democratic Party.

Now black churchgoers are being told to suppress Christian conscience and remain beholden to a party that demands their loyalty while insulting their faith and blaspheming their God. For the first time in 50 years, there is a discussion going on in the black community as to whether their loyalty to the Democratic Party is deserved. Many black pastors are telling their members to stay home, rather than vote for a black president who has done more to advance the cause of homosexuality and abortion than that of black Americans.

We are hearing the rumblings of a fissure between black Christians and the Democratic Party. My organization, Staying True to America’s National Destiny (Stand), is calling for a mass exodus of Christians from the Democratic Party. We held a news conference at the National Press Club on Sept. 10 and produced several videos. This not only has prompted discussion, but perhaps has launched a movement. Mr. Obama’s commitment to the radical left’s anti-Christian, anti-God politics may cost him the election, because a constituency he has taken for granted has awakened to the truth that being the first black president is not enough.

E.W. Jackson: Blacks are Selling Themselves into Slavery By Supporting the Democratic Party

Last week we noted that E.W. Jackson has launched an effort to lead "a mass Exodus of Christians from the Democrat party" on the grounds that the party has turned its back on God.

Earlier this week, Jackson released a new video as part of this effort in which he blasted the Democratic Party for its ties to Planned Parenthood, which "has been far more lethal to Black lives than the KKK ever was," and for comparing the fight for marriage equality to the fight for civil rights, which Jackson called "an outrageous lie" and "an insult to human intelligence."

Jackson went on to declare that "our ancestors were sold against their will centuries ago, but we're going to the slave market voluntarily today" by supporting the Democratic Party which has "become anti-Christian, anti-church, anti-Bible, anti-life, anti-family, and anti-God."  As such, "it is time to come out of the Democrat Party and to refuse to support its candidates in their rebellion against God":

E.W. Jackson and Jerry Boykin Call for a 'Mass Exodus' of Christians from the Democratic Party

On Monday, fringe Religious Right activist and failed Senate candidate E.W. Jackson hosted a press conference to "call for a mass Exodus of Christians from the Democrat party."

And Jackson kicked things off by doing just that, declaring that all Christians and Jews must leave the Democratic Party because "it has turned its back on us; it is time that we turn our back on it."  As proof, Jackson cited the plank supporting marriage equality in the party platform, saying that by including this, the Democratic Party has declared that the Bible is a lie and the God is a liar:

Jackson was immediately followed at the podium by none other than Jerry Boykin, who declared that the fact that the Democrats even had to debate whether to include any mention of God in the platform "should be something that wakes us all up to realize that we cannot be part of that; we will stand and be accountable if we support that."  Boykin went on to say that he will never endorse a party that supports marriage equality because the idea itself is "evil":

E.W. Jackson Says Democrats are like 'Slave Masters' who have Black Conservatives 'Punished'

After badly losing his race for U.S. Senate in Virginia with just 5 percent of the vote in the Republican primary, Bishop E.W. Jackson is once again railing against the Democratic Party and told conservative radio host Steve Deace on Friday that Democrats are like slave masters. “I liken them to slave masters who brag about how good their slaves are and how well-behaved they are but let them try to be free,” Jackson maintained, “let them try to escape and then you find out that they don’t really think very much of them.” Jackson said if African Americans don’t “kowtow” to the Democrats and their supposed “hatred of Christians” then, just like slaves, they “will be punished.”

Listen

Jackson: They’re not just operating in disagreement with us, they’re operating in hostility. They are engendering a type of hatred of Christians, ‘Christians are bigots, Christians are narrow-minded, Christians are hateful people’ because we won’t endorse their ideas. I think that that atmosphere is part of what created the attack on the Family Research Council this week. We ought to understand, these folks aren’t just saying ‘well we just don’t agree with you’ they’re saying ‘we’re going to stop you, we’re hostile to you, we’re going to put you down.’ With regards to Joe Biden, look this is an indication again of the kind of paternalistic, condescending, supercilious attitude that these folks have toward black people and other minorities. They don’t love us. I liken them to slave masters who brag about how good their slaves are and how well-behaved they are but let them try to be free, let them try to escape and then you find out that they don’t really think very much of them. Well let somebody try to escape, let somebody try to say ‘you know what I don’t agree with the Democrat Party or with liberalism’ they treat you like a slave who would dare bite the hand that feeds you because they act like they are responsible for whatever progress black people have made in America and so therefore you owe them and you better kowtow to whatever they say or you will be punished.
