Another Conservative Defends Russia in 'Pussy Riot' Case

Kevin DeAnna of Youth for Western Civilization, now writing for WorldNetDaily, is joining Concerned Women for America in defending Russia for convicting members of the feminist protest band Pussy Riot for “hooliganism.” According to DeAnna, Pussy Riot’s protest inside a Russian cathedral was part of a larger effort “to promote degeneracy” and laments that while “Russia is certainly corrupt,” Russian president Vladimir Putin “has not gone far enough” in defending Russian nationalism. The real problem, DeAnna suggests, is that “imperialist, left-wing” activists are supporting the Muslim Brotherhood to weaken Christianity and America!

Russia is targeted precisely because it is conservative. The vast majority of Russians were outraged at P—y Riot’s stunt. As Putin himself noted, there’s a reason they didn’t target a mosque. The real audience was the left-wing American and European media, which never misses an opportunity to promote degeneracy when it is directed at Christian or Western targets.

Putin is not perfect, and Russia is certainly corrupt, though it was far worse before Putin’s takeover. Putin is simply a Russian nationalist, doing his best to strengthen his own country’s interests. Perhaps used to our own leaders deliberately sabotaging us, this may appear threatening to Americans. If anything, Putin has not gone far enough, making concessions to Islamists in a shortsighted attempt to try to hang on to Russia’s Muslim southern territories.

It’s probably not surprising that American conservatism has been reduced to defending free speech only for leftists and concealing its own powerlessness with swaggering bellicosity against media-approved enemies. The problem is that’s not where the enemy is anymore.

There actually is an imperialist, left-wing power that interferes with other countries. It pushes mass Muslim immigration on Western nations. It tries to displace traditional values in Christian countries. It hands over former American allies to the Muslim Brotherhood. It supports progressive activist organizations with millions of taxpayer dollars in collusion with far-left activists like George Soros. That country is the United States.

American conservatives should be angry about the subversion of their own country, not following the left’s orders yet again by bellowing attacks against the Third Rome.

Does Google Know It’s Sponsoring a Right-Wing, Anti-Gay Conference?

Bloomberg reported on Monday that Google, joining with the likes of the NRA and Heritage Foundation, will be a primary sponsor of CPAC, the right-wing conference kicking off tomorrow in DC. Google portrayed its sponsorship as just another way for the company to reach campaign professionals, candidates, and tech-savvy young adults:

The company says it will have a presence at both Republican and Democratic events during this year’s election season, including each party’s convention. Google also had a role in the Iowa caucus last month. The CPAC event was attractive because half the attendees are under 25 and heavy users of technology, Google said yesterday in an e-mailed statement.

“This event is a great opportunity for us to showcase Google.com/elections and tools like Google+, which we hope will be used by every candidate and campaign,” the Mountain View, California-based company said.
That would make sense if CPAC was just another GOP event. It’s not.

CPAC 2012 is as notable for who is coming as who isn’t. Peter Brimelow is a prominent white nationalist and founder of the racist and anti-Semitic website VDARE. He’ll be at CPAC 2012.

“Birther” leader Joseph Farah will be there. He has boycotted CPAC since 2009 when he was blocked from hosting a panel questioning the President’s citizenship. This year he’s being welcomed back with open arms.

Youth for Western Civilization’s founder was arrested in 2007 for karate chopping an African-American woman on the street while calling her “n****r.” They, like Google, are sponsoring this year’s CPAC.

Romney, Gingrich and Santorum will be there too, along with major Religious Right groups like the Family Research Council.

FRC boycotted last year’s CPAC to protest the participation of a conservative gay rights organization, GOProud. CPAC 2012 will be different. The gay group got the boot, and CPAC and the Family Research Council kissed and made up.

Google told Bloomberg that the company is “planning hangouts with top Republicans and well respected conservative journalists at CPAC.” That’s not all they’ll find at CPAC if they go through with their sponsorship.

Youth for Western Civilization: Apartheid Apologists

Last year at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), the group Youth for Western Civilization hosted a panel with anti-immigrant activist Bay Buchanan, former congressman and presidential candidate Tom Tancredo (R-CO), former congressman Virgil Goode (R-VA) and Pennsylvania congressman Lou Barletta (R-PA) which focused on the purported persecution and marginalization of white Americans due to what Tancredo called “the cult of multiculturalism” that is a “dagger pointed at the heart of Western Civilization.” It appeared that Republican leaders and CPAC had no problem giving credence to an extremist group with ties to European neo-fascists whose founder, Marcus Epstein, was arrested and pled guilty to a hate crime after karate chopping a black woman on a street while calling her a “nigger,” in fact, Youth for Western Civilization is a co-sponsor of CPAC 2012.

On Monday, Youth for Western Civilization announced a new campaign called, “Stop the Boer Genocide,” which claims that black South Africans and the South African government have “orchestrated the systematic slaughter of the white community.”

The group paints a rosy picture of the Apartheid system that was in place between 1948 and 1994 where a tiny white elite controlled the government and economy and violently repressed the country’s black majority, praising the racist government for efforts “against rampant gambling and homosexuality stopped the spread of moral decay” and for “promoting the family” and “strong Christian values.”

Youth for Western Civilization called Nelson Mandela, the first president of a democratic South Africa who won a Nobel Peace Prize for his anti-Apartheid activism, a “terrorist” who “has far more in common with the thugs behind the Rwandan genocide than the heroic freedom fighter he is touted to be.” “At the hands of mobs led by the ANC and murderers like Nelson Mandela who are hell bent on the rape and murder of every white in South Africa,” the group writes, “the Afrikaners are at a crossroads.”

While there are legitimate concerns about racial violence in post-Apartheid South Africa, Youth for Western Civilization is accusing the South African government of pushing the “extermination” against whites and applauding the old Apartheid system, which the group claims “gave an honest chance to the black majority to help build a republic that respected all human rights.” With such blatant nostalgia for the violent racist system, why are Republicans and CPAC continuing to give this group a platform to spew their nostalgia for apartheid?
