Michael Savage: Bernie Sanders' Wife 'Looks Like Stalin's Housekeeper'

On his radio program yesterday, after predicting that Sen. Bernie Sanders will turn into a violent dictator if elected president, right-wing radio host Michael Savage blasted the Vermont independent’s wife, Jane O'Meara Sanders, for “looking like Stalin’s housekeeper,” unlike Donald Trump’s “beautiful” wife Melania.

Savage told viewers that he “can assure you that Trump will be president” while Sanders will “be thrown into the dustbin of history.” He said that under a Trump presidency, “people will again walk around proudly in this country” and “we will see Iranians crying and begging for their life when they are captured by the Americans.”

“We’ll have America back again,” he declared.

While criticizing Sanders as a “jealous loser,” Savage hailed Trump’s family: “When I saw the beautiful Trump family on the stage last night, I said, ‘America is back again.’ I said, ‘Camelot is back again.’ I said, ‘My God, wouldn’t it be beautiful to have a first lady like Mrs. Trump? Wouldn’t it be beautiful to have a first family like the Trump family?’”

“Can you imagine what this county would look like if Bernie Sanders became president?” he said. “His wife looks like Stalin’s housekeeper. And if you want an America with a first lady that walks around looking like Stalin’s housekeeper, well my friends, vote for Bernie Sanders.”

'First They Came For The Rich': Michael Savage Predicts Bernie Sanders Will Start Killing Americans

Yesterday, conservative talk radio host Michael Savage voiced his rage over Pope Francis’ upcoming visit to the U.S.-Mexico border and the growing popularity of Bernie Sanders.

Savage called for Francis to be “deported if he arrives in America again,” while insisting that “the pope should be sitting in jail for his crimes against children worldwide.”

Savage, who has frequently railed against the man he calls “Lenin’s pope,” said that the Catholic Church — along with Sanders and Hillary Clinton — is bringing a communist revolution to America.

He then put his own spin on Martin Niemöller’s Holocaust-era poem, “First they came for the socialists…”: “First they came for the rich, but you were not rich and you did not stand up for the rich; then they came for the middle class, but you didn’t stand up for the middle class because you were not even of the middle class; and then when they started to come up for the poor there was no one else to stand up for you because everyone else was taken out.”

Then Savage said that Sanders intends to use state-sponsored violence in order to finish the communist takeover of America that President Obama started.

“Obama is pure evil,” he said. “But he’s nothing compared to what Bernie Sanders would do.” Savage predicted that Sanders would impose “naked communism in this country” and “use the street gangs that burned down Baltimore, the street gangs that burned down Ferguson, they will use them as government enforcers as sure as I’m sitting here, they will deputize them, they’ll give them green uniforms and they’ll be used to intimidate the middle class as sure as I’m sitting here.”

He went on to warn that the government has already started its communist killing spree:

Isn’t it odd that Russia has now come to America? Not even the Russia of today but the Russia of yesterday has come to America. Isn’t it odd that it would be a street radical from New York, Bernie Sanders, one of the most dangerous men in political history — oh, I know, ‘He’s a simple old man and he’s not dangerous,’ you are wrong. Watch his snaky eyes when he speaks. He’s extremely smart. Bernie is very smart. Bernie is also a streetfighter. Bernie will fight for what he believes in. In that sense, he is a true revolutionary. And if you want to see friends dragged away by the secret police — my friends, you say it can’t happen here, I’m telling you it is happening here.

You say, ‘What are you talking about? That could never happen here, we have a media that would never permit that to happen.’ Well it just happened two weeks ago in Oregon. They shot a man dead in Oregon, the thugs from the federal government — or was it the Oregon state police? — killed a man who was protesting on federal land and no one in the media covered it. You say it can’t happen here, it is happening here. It is happening here, little by little by little. Police are being shot like bowling pins throughout the country by you know who, do I have to spell it out for you?

Savage added that people who attempt to kill police officers “have been empowered by Al Sharpton and the White House.”

Alex Jones: Bernie Sanders 'Is The Final Plague' Upon America

Yesterday, InfoWars broadcaster Alex Jones once again lit into Bernie Sanders and his supporters, this time warning that the Vermont senator represents “the final plague” that will bring down America.

Jones claimed that both Sanders and Hillary Clinton are pawns of the global elite, which he said intends to “enslave” all of humanity, before railing against their supporters as “jackasses,” “fools,” “scum” and “the dumbest, stupidest, most pathetic servile trash the world has ever seen.”

“You won’t learn from history,” he said. “You won’t learn from the nightmare of socialism and collectivism and communism when it puts all these nobodies on top of you who revel in black uniforms and checkpoints and making your wife have sex with them so you can have a job.”

Alex Jones: Bernie Sanders Voters Need To Have Their 'Jaws Broken'

Last week, InfoWars broadcaster Alex Jones went into yet another rant about Bernie Sanders, alleging that the Vermont senator and Democratic presidential candidate “wants us to live under the heavenly socialist-communist system like China.”

He said that Sanders’ campaign is catching on because “stupid, snot-nosed, crud” liberals adore Mao Zedong while they “live off the backs of everybody that fought Nazism and communism.”

“You need to have your jaws broken,” Jones said. “But don’t you worry, reality is going to crash in on you trash who lowered our defenses, who brought the republic down. Oh, we’re already gone and you celebrate it like you’ve joined the globalists, mounting America’s head on the wall, your great victory.”

Jones then depicted Sanders and his “pathetic scum” supporters as mentally disabled, before arguing that Sanders voters are “the ultimate chumps, the ultimate buffoons, the ultimate schmucks” who will “burn in the camps.”

Alex Jones: Bernie Sanders Supporters Like Nazis Clamoring For Adolf Hitler

Conspiracy theorist radio host Alex Jones, broadcasting from a dim, bunker-like studio yesterday, pleaded with Bernie Sanders supporters to abandon their candidate, telling them that Sanders is aiding a scheme devised by “European royalty” to “scapegoat the free market as the problem and to sell communism and socialism and wealth-redistribution as a solution.”

As Jones puts it, the super-super-rich intend to use socialism to seize the wealth of the regular rich, thus consolidating their power.

Jones later added that Sanders fans are like the Germans who supported Adolf Hitler: “This is the most ganged-mentality, dumbed-down, it’s like, ‘We want to elect Hitler, he says he’ll invade France and give us free stuff.’”

The InfoWars broadcaster previously said that Sanders wants to throw people him into forced labor camps.

Alex Jones: Bernie Sanders Will Throw Us In Forced Labor Camps Like Mao Zedong

Earlier today, Alex Jones spoke with InfoWars reporter Richard Reeves about the upcoming Iowa caucus, with Reeves saying he’d “love nothing better than to see Bernie Sanders take a victory here in Iowa.”

“I agree, he would be great to defeat,” Jones responded. “But I don’t want to be put in his forced labor camp. I don’t want to be ruled over by that piece of crap.”

Jones continued: “It’s so creepy to have a hardcore commie who wants to put me in a forced relocation camp like Mao Zedong.”

“If Bernie Sanders somehow were to become president, I suspect that you and I would become illegal immigrants somewhere,” Reeves added.

Donald Trump: 'Communist' Bernie Sanders Will 'Destroy The Fabric Of What We Are'

Yesterday, far-right radio host Michael Savage spoke with Donald Trump about how he would defeat Bernie Sanders in a potential general election matchup and “overcome the poor and immigrants who hate the rich.”

Trump told Savage that he “would be very happy” if Sanders won the Democratic nomination, saying that the Vermont senator is “probably a communist” who will “destroy the fabric of what we are.”

“I just can’t believe that this country is ready for socialism or communism, because it’s pretty close to communism, some of the things he wants to do,” Trump added.

Savage, in turn, said he is praying for a Sanders nomination because “it’d be the greatest landslide in history,” predicting that Trump would take 85 percent of the vote.

Hillary Clinton Lays Out Her Vision For the Supreme Court

In an op-ed today in the Boston Globe, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton takes on what may be the biggest issue at stake in the 2016 election: the future of the US Supreme Court.

The court’s decisions have a profound impact on American families. In the past two decades alone, it effectively declared George W. Bush president, significantly weakened the Voting Rights Act, and opened the door to a flood of unaccountable money in our politics. It also made same-sex marriage legal nationwide, preserved the Affordable Care Act not once but twice, and ensured equal access to education for women.

On Election Day, three of the current justices will be over 80 years old, which is past the court’s average retirement age. The next president could easily appoint more than one justice. That makes this a make-or-break moment — for the court and our country.

That’s true. As People For the American Way recently laid out in our Judgment Day report, virtually every single important issue—from voting rights to guns to reproductive freedom to workplace fairness to the environment and beyond—will be at stake before the Supreme Court. And because the Justices most likely to retire in the next few years come from both sides of the bench, our country has the opportunity to pull the Court from its dangerous rightward lurch of the last decade—or to solidify a far-right majority for a generation.

But just as important as preventing the next president from appointing more Justices in the mold of Scalia, Thomas and Alito, we need to elect a President who will appoint extraordinary jurists who understand the profoundly progressive nature of our constitution. In her op-ed, Senator Clinton lays out what that looks like.

As president (and a lawyer and former law professor), I’ll appoint justices who will protect the constitutional principles of liberty and equality for all, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or political viewpoint; make sure the scales of justice aren’t tipped away from individuals toward corporations and special interests; and protect citizens’ right to vote, rather than billionaires’ right to buy elections.

Secretary Clinton isn’t alone in laying out a progressive vision for the Court. Senator Bernie Sanders has spoken repeatedly about the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United and how we need to "overturn this disastrous decision.”  And Governor Martin O’Malley has promised to “appoint judges who don't think corporations are people.”

All of this is good news for progressives—and why People For the American Way has been pushing so hard for more conversation about the importance of the Supreme Court as we head into the 2016 election. But it’s not enough.

In the coming weeks and months we’ll continue to push candidates of both parties to make clear what kind of judges they’d appoint to our nation’s highest courts, because, as Secretary Clinton says, “There’s a lot at stake in this election. Nowhere is this clearer than in the US Supreme Court.”

PFAW Statement on Sanders Plan to Fight Big Money in Politics

WASHINGTON – Sen. Bernie Sanders has released an agenda for addressing the influx of big money in our democracy. His plan outlines reform measures including a constitutional amendment to overturn decisions like Citizens United and Buckley v. Valeo, small donor public financing, and increased transparency in political spending. His agenda also includes measures to strengthen voting rights, such as expanding early voting and restoring the protections of the Voting Rights Act, which were gutted by the Supreme Court’s Shelby County decision in 2013.

People For the American Way president Michael Keegan issued the following statement:

“Bernie Sanders has been consistently speaking out about the problem of big money in politics throughout his campaign, and he should be commended for releasing a plan highlighting the solutions.

“Americans are of one mind on the issue of money in politics. Across the board, voters think Citizens United should be overturned and want to see elected leaders put policies in place to fix our broken campaign finance system. Sanders should be applauded for putting the issue front and center in his campaign.”

Sanders’ plan includes numerous policies outlined in the “Fighting Big Money” agenda, a comprehensive platform that People For the American Way and 12 other organizations released in July and have called on every candidate to endorse and prioritize.

Rand Paul: Bernie Sanders' Socialism Will 'Eliminate' Critics

Rand Paul repeated his mantra that Bernie Sanders could turn into a murderous dictator if elected president, this time in an interview yesterday on the conservative network Newsmax.

While speaking with host Ed Berliner, Paul said that he “spends quite a bit of time on Bernie” during appearances at college campuses to let students know that “there’s nothing sexy or cool about socialism.”

The Kentucky senator said that “socialism is anti-choice” and deadly. “If you choose to challenge the state,” he said, “they have to get rid of you, they have to arrest you or they have to eliminate you.”

Michael Savage: Bernie Sanders Is A 'Liberal Weasel Jew' Who 'Hates America'

Michael Savage is not a fan of Bernie Sanders. Last week on “Savage Nation,” Savage again attacked Sanders, whom Savage said “sets off comedic shockwaves” but also makes him “sick.”

Savage said that he knows Bernie Sanders’ “type,” which is apparently a “liberal weasel Jew” who hates Christians and America.

Savage went on to say that Sanders may as well be working for Hillary Clinton “because by espousing the stupidity that he espouses, it makes her look like a centrist even though she’s a leftist. So he may as well be just a front man for her, a warm up act.”

Michael Savage: Liberals Are 'Insane' Because They Drink Seltzer

Michael Savage dedicated his radio program on Monday to attacking Bernie Sanders, whom he thinks is America’s Pol Pot. He said that Sanders is just another “red diaper doper baby” who was corrupted by marijuana, trips to the “communist camps in the Poconos” … and seltzer.

“I still think the seltzer has something to do with it,” Savage said. “If I had the time, I’d go back to my scientific background and I would do an epidemiological study of the use of seltzer and liberalism and the insanity of liberalism. I think that the high carbon dioxide content, the little bubbles of carbon dioxide poisoned the brains of millions of kids in Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. Seltzer bottles. It’s like toxic lead. It’s like Dr. Schuze’s X-ray machines on the feet, the cancer machines.”

Savage claimed that Sanders’ supporters are mostly young people who still live with their parents and are “morons” who shouldn’t even have the right to vote: “I don’t think you should vote until you are 45 in this country. I still think you shouldn’t vote if you don’t pay taxes, and a minimum amount of taxes too.”

States and Localities Fight Back Against Big Political Spending

Since the 2010 Citizens United decision, which opened the floodgates for record-breaking levels of election spending, Americans have pushed for a change. According to a recent New York Times poll, 85 percent of Americans agree that the campaign finance system needs reform, from “fundamental changes” to a “complete overhaul.” Now Americans are going to their state and local governments to spearhead efforts to get money out of politics.

Over 125 bills regarding campaign spending have been introduced in 33 statehouses in the last few months, even in the conservative stronghold Texas. Some of these efforts have been bipartisan; Montana’s Democratic governor Steve Bullock collaborated with a Republican-controlled legislature to pass a bill that requires nonprofit “social welfare” groups to disclose their political spending.

“When somebody's hiding in the shadows and gut-shoots you, you have a right to know who's taking a shot at you,” said Republican Montana state senator Duane Ankely.

Americans are already working to fix the problem of big money in politics. More than 150 organizations have supported the Unity Statement of Principles which articulates the values underlying key solutions to ensure a democratic system of government where everyone’s voice is heard, everyone follows the same set of rules, and where everyone is held accountable. One important solution to the problem of big money’s influence in politics is a constitutional amendment that would overturn the Supreme Court decisions like Citizens United and let the American people establish reasonable limits on election spending.

Sixteen states and more than 650 cities have passed resolutions urging Congress to adopt such an amendment. Activists in twelve states recently delivered petitions to their members of Congressmen asking them to support the amendment, and with 311,950 local petitions were delivered to district offices in California alone. Further, nearly three in four Americans support implementing a constitutional amendment. Presidential candidates, such as Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and even Republican Lindsey Graham, have all spoken in favor of campaign finance reform. The movement to get money out of politics already enjoys bipartisan support at all levels of government, and the stage is set for even more momentum, particularly around an amendment, moving into 2016.

We're Finally Talking About 2016's Most Consequential Issue: The Future of the Supreme Court

Yesterday, in a speech in Texas on the importance of voting rights, Hillary Clinton made one of the most important remarks of her campaign so far: "We need a Supreme Court who cares more about the right to vote of a person than the right to buy an election of a corporation."

Reuters Report: Voters Won't Let Billionaires Buy the Next Election

With the 2016 national elections upcoming, wealthy donors supporting both parties are gearing up to throw hundreds of millions of dollars into the races; billionaires David and Charles Koch have already pledged to spend $889 million. But a report from Reuters shows that Americans, frustrated by the overwhelming influence of big money in politics, are organizing to fight back.

In the Philadelphia mayoral race, three billionaires spent $7 million to elect Anthony Hardy Williams. In response, unions and community groups rallied around his challenger, Jim Kenney, organizing a march to stop the wealthy donors from “buying [their] next mayor.” Technological developments are making such organization easier: the creators of Crowdpac, an app that lets entrepreneurs gather funding towards donations, say that they want the app to be used to organize small donors to counteract the effects of billionaire spending.

This is reflective of a wider trend in public opinion. Americans are sick of letting big money influence their elections; 84 percent say that money has too much influence in political campaigns today and nearly 3 in 4 Americans support a constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United decision and limit campaign spending.

“There's growing public awareness about rich people trying to buy elections and that makes the task of winning all the more difficult," said Darrel West of the Brookings Institute.

Americans have organized at all levels of government to get big money out of politics. Activists have held rallies and marches devoted to the cause and demanded that their representatives in Congress take steps to reduce big money’s influence. Five million of them have signed a petition calling for a constitutional amendment to limit the amount of money spent in politics. Sixteen states and more than 650 cities have already called for an amendment.

President Obama is on board, and presidential candidates like Hillary Clinton, Lindsey Graham, and Bernie Sanders have expressed support for a constitutional amendment. Clinton and Sanders have also emphasized the importance of nominating Supreme Court Justices who would restore balance to the Supreme Court and restore the American people’s ability to impose reasonable limits on money in politics.

The movement against big money in politics is gaining momentum as the election nears.

Third day of Senate debate to #GetMoneyOut

While America's foreign policy challenges and other critical issues dominated the Senate floor on Wednesday, debate on the Democracy for All amendment continued for a third day. Those opposed to getting money out of politics are even sounding like they're on our side. They ignore the fact that their points are very much among those that inspired Democracy for All in the first place.

PFAW and Allies Rally, Deliver 3 Million Petitions in Support of Amendment to #GetMoneyOut

On Monday afternoon People For the American Way joined partner organizations, Senators, and Representatives in a rally outside the U.S. Capitol in support of the Democracy For All Amendment to overturn decisions like Citizens United and get big money out of politics. As the Senate begins debating the measure, PFAW and ally organizations teamed up to deliver more than three million petitions in support of an amendment.

The rally was kicked off by People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker (pictured speaking above) and Public Citizen President Robert Weissman. Speakers included Sen. Tom Udall (N.M.), Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.), Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.), Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Sen. Al Franken (Minn.), Rep. Ted Deutch (Fla.), and Rep. Jim McGovern (Mass.) Rally footage was featured on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell and in the Huffington Post.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (Vt.)

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (R.I.)

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (Minn.)

Sen. Al Franken (Minn.)

Rep. Ted Deutch (Fla.)

Rep. Jim McGovern (Mass.)

At the rally, PFAW Executive Vice President Marge Baker said, “Today, more money than ever is flooding our democracy. But something else is also happening: everyday Americans are fighting back. Americans are no longer willing to settle for elections auctioned to the highest bidders.” You can watch her speech here.

The massive number of petitions delivered is just one of many indicators of the broad support for an amendment to get big money out of politics. Sixteen states, more than 550 cities and towns, and public figures including former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens and President Barack Obama have already voiced support for an amendment. Recent polling found that nearly three in four voters (73 percent) favor it.

Organizations contributing petitions included People For the American Way, MoveOn.org, CREDO, Daily Kos, Public Citizen, Public Change Campaign Committee, USAction, Common Cause, Democrats.com, Free Speech For People, Coffee Party, Center for Media and Democracy, Brave New Films, Progressive Democrats of America, Sierra Club, US PIRG, Communications Workers of America, Wolf PAC, Move to Amend, Food and Water Watch, Corporate Accountability International, Greenpeace, Public Campaign, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), the League of Conservation Voters, and the Story of Stuff Project.

People For the American Way's Marge Baker Stands With Congressional Leaders To Call For Amending the Constitution To Overturn Citizens United

This Tuesday at a press conference in the US Capitol hosted by Brave New Films and featuring Robert Greenwald’s latest documentary, “Koch Bros Exposed,” Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Bernie Sanders and People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker made a resounding call for amending the Constitution to overturn the Supreme Court’s egregious decisions like Citizens United and McCutcheon v. FEC.

“We need our voices heard… we need to change the status quo,” Majority Leader Reid stated after calling for an amendment.

“We need a government by the many, not a government by the money,” Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi echoed. She went on to declare, “the time to amend the Constitution is now!”

Comparing the amount the Koch brothers spent in the 2012 election cycle to the amount they made, on average, over the past three years, Sen. Sanders pointed out: “$400 million is not a lot of money when you make $11 billion a year.”

Following Sen. Sanders, People For the American Way’s Executive Vice President for Policy and Program, Marge Baker, took the podium and stated, “The time has come to discuss solutions.”  She highlighted the growing support for the amendment strategy, the momentum behind the small donor empowering Government By the People Act, the push at the state level for disclosure and campaign finance law, and the growing movement around the country of everyday citizens who are working to build a more democratic government.
