Fischer: Mary Cheney Is An 'Intolerant Lesbian Bigot'

Back when Liz Cheney announced her intention to challenge Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi in the Republican primary, Bryan Fischer declared that Cheney was not a patriot because she was insufficiently anti-gay and had, in fact, been compromised because her sister Mary is a lesbian.

But now that Mary and Liz are publicly feuding over Liz's opposition to marriage equality, Fischer has come rushing to her defense, declaring that Liz is the paragon of Christian tolerance while Mary is an "intolerant lesbian bigot."

"It's very clear here that Liz Cheney is not the intolerant bigot," Fischer said, "it is Liz Cheney's sister who is, in fact, the intolerant bigot."

'Swallowed By Satan': The Case Of The Demon Discharge

Warning: This post contains graphic language.

Yesterday, Bryan Fischer brought Joseph Sciambra onto Focal Point to discuss Sciambra’s new book, Swallowed By Satan, which is a tale of his journey out of homosexuality, neo-Nazism, and Satan worship. Like other ex-gay activists, Sciambra offers harrowing accounts of early sexual trauma, drug abuse and risky sexual behaviors, including public sex and flashing men.

While Sciambra says he identified as gay, he also claims he was obsessed with female pornography (describing it as a “succubus”) and regularly frequented female sex workers and brothels. Sciambra explains that he began to sleep with men because “women did not have the physical strength for the type of abuse I needed,” and as a result he fell into Satan’s digestive tract until “my continued presence in his bowel became an irritant [and] I was passed out”:

Satan swallowed me whole. I would spend a decade in his gut. Miraculously, a protective layer prevented my full destruction in the digestive tract of the devil. When my continued presence in his bowel became an irritant, I was passed out onto the street. To be stepped upon and washed away into the gutter.

Much of the book is dedicated to graphic accounts of Sciambra having brutal sex with other men; he claims that he hears different voices, which he seems to think are demonic spirits, that tell him to engage in activities such as sadomasochism and pornography. He even writes about having sex with demonic figures.

In one story, he goes to a club to get “gang-banged” and during sex “conceives” a demon in his anus. After sex, the demon “gushed from my body” in his discharge and “would grow and pitilessly hover about me. Sometimes, it spoke.”

All I could think about were the magical claims by [occultist] Alester Crowley that anal sex unleashed a rare form of demonic spirit. In fact, he taught that these devils would be conceived within the anus during sodomy. I believed this wholeheartedly. I wanted these entities to take me over.... Then, with no warning, a rush of liquid gushed from my body. It was slimy and mixed with blood. I gave birth to the devil I prayed for. In the coming years, it would grow and pitilessly hover about me. Sometimes, it spoke.

He warns readers that he opened himself up to occult practices by innocently using a Ouija board as a child and contends that part of homosexuality is a “pseudo-religion [that is] certainly Satanic.”

The voices in his head told him to “debase” himself through sex in order to get closer to Satan: “[I]n my debasement, I received a congratulatory elevation from the devil. I was doing his work. My pain was only alleviated in evil.”

“I think my further descent into hell started with an occult sex ritual that I engaged in” with “a gay cabal of male witches,” where he had group sex with a man with “the head of a goat or ram.”

“I knew that what I would be drinking upon was the darkness of hell,” Sciambra writes while describing a different account of sadomasochistic group sex. “They had prepared my walking remains for the final immolation. I was on the altar, the knife was raised, and I was ready to go.”

Finally, injured by all the group sex, Sciambra went to the hospital with his mom and he saw demons appear over his hospital bed: “Then, a huge empty space opened up behind the bed’s headboard. An immense open and salivating mouth breathed a stinking and moist heat upon the back of my neck. I was being pulled up and outwards. I heard a voice say, ‘Open-wide.’”

Right Wing Leftovers - 11/13/13

  • Hawaii has become the latest state in which marriage equality is now the law.
  • Liberty Counsel says it will file an appeal against the law banning "ex-gay" therapy for minors in New Jersey after a court tossed out its lawsuit.
  • Didn't Jesus drink wine
  • Religious Right activists are hosting a symposium addressing the question: "Family Policy Lessons from Other Lands: What Should America Learn?" As in, what can we learn from Russia's crackdown on gays that can be applied here.
  • Finally, Bryan Fischer continues to insist that Christmas is found in the Constitution: "By dating the foundational document of the greatest nation in history to the birth of Jesus Christ, the Founders essentially celebrated Christmas as they signed their names. Since the Declaration was also dated from the first Christmas, you can even say that the two most important political documents in history are in the nature of Christmas cards from the Founders to us."

Former Gay-Satanist-Nazi Was 'Swallowed By Satan' But Now Straight Pal Of Bryan Fischer

Joseph Sciambra is the author of a book called Swallowed by Satan, which depicts his life as a pornographic film actor, Satanist and neo-Nazi…until he became straight and left it all behind.

Sciambra’s YouTube page includes a biopic, “Death in Room #122,” and video commentaries such as, “How to Stop Masturbating,” “Gay Marriage: A Satanic Ceremony” and “Former Gay Porn Star Tells of His Possession by Demons and Deliverance from Satan” (Parts 1-5).

Seeing that Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association frequently claims that gay people are Nazis and demonic, it is not a surprise that Fischer read Sciambra’s book and invited him onto his show today to discuss the typical gay life…of a gay Nazi Satanist porn actor.

Fischer said Sciambra was “devoured by the Prince of Darkness” when he “entered the homosexual lifestyle,” which Sciambra described as a “scary” experience.

“Part of the lie of Satan is to use the media and other voices to try to convinced people that homosexuality, homosexual conduct is some sort of benign alternative to heterosexuality, ” Fischer said. “If somebody believes that lie and begins to act on that lie, that homosexuality is something normal and a healthy alternative to heterosexuality, they are really opening themselves up to some very dark and dangerous powers.”

Sciambra advised kids against coming out as gay, warning that they “have no idea what’s waiting for them.”

Later, he urged gay people to “stop the silliness, stop the lies and stop the deception because how high does the body count have to get before we will admit that the gay lifestyle has been a disaster?”

Fischer Can't Support Chris Christie Because He Appointed Gays And Muslims As Judges

On his radio broadcast today, Bryan Fischer told a caller that he had serious reservations about New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and could not vote for him if he ran for president.

Not only is Fischer concerned that Christie has "capitulated on same-sex marriage, capitulated on the homosexual agenda" but he's also "concerned about his judicial appointments."

And why is Fischer concerned about this issue?  Because, as governor, Christie "has appointed active homosexuals to be bench" and even "appointed Muslims to the bench":

Fischer: Gay Activists Are Trying To 'Desensitize' People To Pedophilia, Just As They Did With Homosexuality

Last week, Bryan Fischer appeared on theDoveTV to promote the bogus AFA claim that the American Psychiatric Association had reclassified pedophilia as a sexual orientation.  During the interview, host Perry Atkinson asserted that it was all part of an effort to desensitize people to the issue of pedophilia in order to normalize it ... just as they did with homosexuality, Fischer responded.

"That's exactly the strategy that homosexual activists pursued with homosexuality," Fischer said. "Talk about homosexuality all the time; don't let people think about the behavior itself because that will turn people off, but just talk about it all the time, get it into ordinary conversation, use that term over and over again because it desensitizes people to it.  If they hear it often enough then, like you're saying, they begin to think of it like something, well that's just a normal part of conversation and then it's not long before they start thinking well, that's a normal behavior, that's a normal sexual orientation. So it's very deliberate on their part to kind of desensitize the American public on this issue":

Fischer: Love Your Gay Child By Telling Them They Are Going Down 'A Road Of Destruction And Death'

After televangelist Pat Robertson gave “advice” to a parent of a gay son, Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association was asked today by a caller what he would do if one of his children came out as gay. Fischer said that he would “love them unconditionally” and would not “toss them out of my life;” however, he would tell them that being gay is a “decision that is self-destructive.”

“I would love them unconditionally; I would appeal to them to make different choices with their sexuality; I would appeal to them not to go down that road because it’s a road of destruction and death but I would love them unconditionally.”

Fischer's Fantasies: Democrats Might Impeach Obama In Order To Win Re-Election In 2014

On his radio broadcast today, Bryan Fischer said that even though there are countless reasons for Congress to impeach and remove President Obama from office, it won't happen because Democrats in the Senate will never go along with it ... unless, he speculated, they realize that Obamacare is dragging the entire party "to the bottom of the sea bed."

"What matters to them in November of 2014 is getting re-elected," Fischer stated. "If they begin to think that President Obama represents a liability, that he could actually precipitate this massive, catastrophic defeat for them at the polls, they might be motivated to try to do something about that. We have got to remove this guy from office; we've either got to repeal Obamacare; if he won't go along with that, then we just may have to clean the slate for him":

Paranoia-Rama: This Week In Right-Wing Lunacy - 11/8/13

RWW's Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

This week, we learn more about President Obama’s secret gay past and Michelle Obama’s poor spiritual housekeeping, find out the real reason for Terry McAuliffe’s victory in Virginia, and are duly warned about the consequences of health care coverage and U.N. treaties.

5. Obamacare Will Force People to “Suffer and Potentially Die”

Texas Rep. Louis Gohmert, one of Congress’ most creative conspiracy theorists, told the residents of a nursing home in Texas this week that the Affordable Care Act would cut Medicare benefits, causing people to “suffer and potentially die.”

Gohmert’s claim that the ACA “cut $716 billion from Medicare,” repeated frequently by Mitt Romney in his presidential campaign last year, glosses over the fact that the cuts in costs – also recommended by Rep. Paul Ryan – would not affect Medicare benefits.

4. The United Nations Will Snatch Homeschoolers and Kids With Glasses

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee revived consideration of the United Nations Conventions on Persons With Disabilities this week, a year after a right-wing scare campaign managed to prevent the Senate from ratifying the treaty.

Taking the lead in the effort to sink the treaty was Michael Farris, director of the Home School Legal Defense Association, who claimed that U.S. ratification of the treaty would allow the U.N. to “get control” of children with glasses or ADHD and even lead to the deaths of children with disabilities. Invited to testify at this week’s hearing, Farris tried to convince senators that ratifying the treaty – which is based on laws already in place in the United States – would in fact lead to an American ban homeschooling. His only evidence for this fear was a completely unrelated immigration case .

The many right-wing conspiracy theories about the CRPD have been handily debunked by the U.S. International Council on Disabilities, as well as by former Republican senators Bill Frist and Bob Dole.

3. Michelle Obama Invited Demons Into The White House

The American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer was shocked to learn that First Lady Michelle Obama hosted a White House event this to celebrate Diwali.

By celebrating the Hindu festival, Fischer warned, the first lady was inviting “demons into the White House,” necessitating a “spiritual cleanse” of the building after Obama leaves office.

Fischer neglected to mention that George W. and Laura Bush had hosted the very same event. He did, however, later in the week provide a helpful how-to on how to rid a home of demonic spirits in case it ever comes to that.

2. Voter Fraud Won the Election in Virginia

Virginia attorney general Ken Cuccinelli thinks that President Obama won reelection through organized voter fraud , so it’s no surprise that some of his supporters were ready to cry “voter fraud” when he lost the gubernatorial election on Tuesday to Democrat Terry McAuliffe.

A full week before election day, Virginia conservative commentator Dean Chambers laid out how he predicted McAuliffe would “steal” the election through voter fraud. Meanwhile, Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber spent Election Day tweeting about how Cuccinelli would need to win by 7 points “to get within the margin of Democrat fraud.” And after the results came in, the white nationalist site VDARE claimed that McAuliffe must have relied on “black voter fraud” because it was not “plausible” that African-Americans would “turn out for New York Irish American Pol running for Governor with the same enthusiasm that they voted for a Black for President.”

In 2008, Virginia officials prosecuted 39 cases of voter fraud out of 3.7 million votes cast, none of which involved voter impersonation, the alleged target of Virginia’s pending voter ID law.

1. Obama Procured Cocaine Through Older White, Male Lovers

We already knew that during his student days President Obama was married to his male Pakistani roommate, the union from which he still wears a secret gay Muslim wedding ring , but we learned today via anti-gay activist Scott Lively that the president’s secrets go much deeper.

Lively linked on his website to an interview between crackpot preacher James David Manning and a woman named Mia Marie Pope, who claims to have been a classmate of President Obama's back in Hawaii in the 1970s.

Pope recalled how the future president was “very much within sort of the gay community” and “was having sex with these older white guys” in order to procure “cocaine to be able to freebase.”

Fischer: Ban Homosexuality As 'A Hazard To Human Health'

Today, the FDA announced that it was taking steps toward eventually eliminating the use of trans fats in the United States, saying their use "remains a significant public health concern."

So, of course, Bryan Fischer seized on this announcement to declare that, if they were being consistent, the government would "ban homosexuality [because] it is a hazard to human health":

Fischer Explains How To Exorcise Your New Home To Rid It Of Demonic Spirits

Lately, Bryan Fischer's "Focal Point" radio program has started to look more and more like Pat Robertson's "700 Club" as Fischer has begun offering advice to his listeners on how to properly exorcise their new homes in order to rid them of any demonic spirits that may have been invited in by the previous inhabitants.

"You have no idea what was honored in that home," Fischer explained, "what was done in that home, the kind of values that were exemplified in the behavior of the people in that home, no idea what was honored in that place, what was watched on television, the kind of music that was played and filled the atmosphere in that home and how access or legal ground to dark spirits may have been given by the prior occupants of that house."

As such, Fischer recommends that his listeners walk the perimeter of their property, anointing the corners with oil and vocally commanding all demonic spirits to leave before likewise anointing the house and praying in every room and even over the furniture and appliances in order to rid the house of all unwelcome spirits:

Fischer: Obama 'Certainly Does Not Love America; I Believe He Actually Hates America'

As we have said before, some day America will have a Republican president again and when that day comes, Religious Right leaders will respond furiously to any comment that they feel is offensive and disrespectful to the President of the United States and the office of the presidency.

And when that day arrives, we will just be able to trot out video after video of people like Bryan Fischer saying things like "I believe that we have a president who has a visceral dislike for this country. I do not believe he likes America; he certainly does not love America. I believe he actually hates America as it was founded":

Fischer: Michelle Obama Is Inviting Demons Into The White House

Citing an article from CNS that reported that First Lady Michelle Obama would be "hosting an event on Tuesday to mark the Hindu festival of Diwali, or 'festival of lights,' to honor Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity," Bryan Fischer warned that Obama was inviting "demons into the White House."

"This is a counterfeit religion," Fischer said. "It is an Eastern religion. It is, in essence, an occult religion.  It's a counterfeit, a false alternative to Christianity.  It ultimately represents the doctrine of demons, that is what you have with Hinduism and now this is being celebrated in the White House."

Fischer concluded by renewing his call for America to elect a Christian president in 2016 who will bring clergy into the White House who will "spiritually cleanse" of all the demonic spirits after the Obama's leave:

We assume that Fischer called for the White House to be similarly cleansed after President George W. Bush left office, since he did the same thing.

PFAW Applauds Senate Cloture Vote on ENDA

WASHINGTON – People For the American Way today applauded the Senate’s vote to end a Republican filibuster on proceeding to consider the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would make it illegal to fire, refuse to hire, or refuse to promote employees because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. People For the American Way President Michael Keegan released the following statement:

“Today’s Senate vote is a huge victory in the ongoing fight to end discrimination in all its forms. Passing ENDA is simply common sense – no one should be fired because of who they are or who they love. These basic workplace protections are so in line with American values that most of the country believes that these protections are already the law of the land.

“Sadly, anti-gay extremists on the right have resorted to dangerous fear mongering and flat-out lies in their push against this important legislation. From American Family Association spokesperson Bryan Fischer’s declaration that ENDA would ‘represent the return of Jim Crow laws’ to Liberty Counsel chairman Mat Staver’s warning that ENDA would result in the ‘death of some individuals,’ their outrageous claims make clear just how far away their views are from those of everyday Americans.

“I trust that the Senate will soon pass ENDA. The question then becomes whether House Republican leadership will stand on the side of anti-gay extremists or on the side of common sense and decency by allowing the bill to be taken up and passed.”

For more information on the far right and ENDA, see People For the American Way’s Right Wing Watch round-up of the top ten Religious Right claims about the legislation: http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/enda-near-top-ten-religious-right-claims-about-employment-non-discrimination-act-updated

Fischer: 'We Should Discriminate Against People Based On Their Deviant Sexual Behavior'

On his radio broadcast today, Bryan Fischer spent several segments rallying his listeners to calls their Senators and urge them to vote against cloture on ENDA or, as he calls it, "The Jerry Sandusky Pedophile Protection Act."

According to Fischer, it is good for a society to discriminate against "aberrant, deviant sexual behavior" and those who practice it. Just as convicted pedophile Jerry Sandusky was imprisoned for engaging in "sexually deviant behavior," so too should employers be able to fire gay employees because "it is entirely right and entirely appropriate that we should discriminate against people based on their deviant sexual behavior."

Fischer laughably went on to claim that ENDA grants special rights to gays, saying that "there's no protection in here for heterosexuals, none whatsoever ... they get no legal protections in the law." Apparently Fischer doesn't realize that ENDA would make it illegal to fire someone based on their sexual orientation ... and being straight is also considered to be a "sexual orientation":

Paranoia-Rama: This Week In Right-Wing Lunacy - 11/1/13

RWW's Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories and maniacal claims from the Right.

In our latest installment, we learn about new fake dangers of same-sex marriage, real dangers of falling for satire and the true perils of peering too closely into Bryan Fischer’s head.

5. Gay Marriage Leads To Self-Marriage

We have already heard that gay marriage will lead to dog-man, box turtle-man and Eiffel Tower-man marriage, but apparently person-on-self marriage is on the way too. In a last ditch campaign to block a marriage equality bill, Hawaii Family Advocates is playing up the slippery slope argument, warning that same-sex marriage may lead to a person marrying themselves. The group also warned of “polygyny, polyandry, bi-sexual marriage, group marriage, concubinage, beastiality [sic],” leading us to wonder if they understands what the word bisexual means.

Not to be outdone, the Hawaii Republican Assembly warned the “destructive wake of homosexual marriage” will force churches to marry same-sex couples and have five-year-old kids learn about “the gay and lesbian lifestyle.”

4. United Nations To Seize The Alamo

Shockingly, Tea Party activists in Texas and Alex Jones of InfoWars have been pushing a conspiracy theory concerning the United Nations, Democrats…and the Alamo. The conservatives warn that the designation of the Alamo as a UNESCO World Heritage Site will put the compound under the control of United Nations bureaucrats, all with the help of the Democratic Mayor of San Antonio Julian Castro. The Texas Land Commission notes that the UNESCO designation will change nothing about the Alamo’s ownership or operations, but such claims are nothing new: Texas’ junior senator Ted Cruz promoted claims that the United Nations, George Soros and various municipal officials are going to abolish golf courses and paved roads using Agenda 21.

3. Sharia Law In Dearborn…Again

The satirical National Report article, “City in Michigan First to Fully Implement Sharia Law,” has made such waves that the city it referenced, Dearborn, has had to issue a statement to reassure people that no, the city is not under Islamic rule. But people may just believe that Mayor Jack O’Reilly’s denial of an article from a spoof website is probably just a sign that he is practicing taqiyya, as anti-Muslim politicians continue to actually believe that the Michigan city operates under Sharia law. The mayor’s analysis is spot on: “The National Report’s misguided attempt at humor furthers the goals of some people who have tried to suggest that the city of Dearborn is anti-American because our population includes residents who are Muslim.”

In fact, the National Report article appears to be plagiarized from a very real article from The Guardian on Sharia law in the country of Brunei.

2. EPA Gun Grabbers!

Steve Benen flags this right-wing conspiracy about how gun activists claim that an EPA regulation on pollution is actually a backdoor plan to push “gun control behind the scenes,” pointing to the recent closure of a smelter in Missouri. Seeing that Gun Owners of America claims that health care reform was really just a big push to disarm Americans and send gun owners to concentration camps or electro-shock therapy, the claims that Obama will use the “the environment as a pretense to go after a lead smelter so bullets will be scarce and more expensive.” As Benen notes, however, the EPA enforced the rules against the smelter in 2008 under the Bush administration.

But as we all know time has a liberal bias.

1. Military Will Kill Christians

Over the last several years the American Family Association has been predicting that the military under President Obama will start going after Christians in US, and 2013 is no different as AFA spokesman Bryan Fischer last week charged that service members may begin to use “lethal force” on Christians and “turn [their] takes” on conservative organizations like the AFA. He even said “it would not be illogical next year at the Values Voter Summit in Washington D.C.,” referring to the annual Religious Right conference, “that military troops surrounding the Omni Hotel.”

We look forward to Fischer making the exact same prediction for every remaining year of Obama’s term.

Fischer: America Needs A Christian President Who Will 'Exorcise The White House'

Responding to a story about how Presidents Reagan and Truman reportedly saw ghosts in the White House, Bryan Fischer tweeted that the White House needs an exorcism once voters elect a “Christian president.”

Maybe Fischer should talk to his pal Gordon Klingenschmitt, who on his TV show tried to exorcise a demon from Obama.

The ENDA is Near: The Top Ten Religious Right Claims About the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (UPDATED)

With the Senate expected to vote on the Employment Non-Discrimination Act before Thanksgiving, here’s a look at Right Wing Watch’s collection of recent – and classic – claims from the Religious Right about ENDA.  Because ENDA is common sense legislation that would make it illegal to fire, refuse to hire, or refuse to promote employees because of their sexual orientation or gender identity, the Right cannot gain much traction by opposing ENDA on its merits.  Instead, resorting to fear-mongering and lies, they contend that ENDA will lead to everything from the end of religious freedom to sexual assault and death. As the vote approaches, senators will have to choose whether they will cast their lot with anti-gay extremists or with common sense.

10. Matt Barber: ENDA And Hate Crimes Laws Will Be Used To Protect Pedophiles (October 2013)

Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel appeared on Sandy Rios In The Morning, where he told guest host Wendy Wright that hate crimes laws and the Employment Non-Discrimination Act will be used to protect pedophiles:

“When you have laws like ENDA, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, being pushed, hate crimes legislation, that are as you point out so well Wendy, that are very vague in their definition of what is sexual orientation, we will arrive at the point where you know these people who define their sexual orientation by a sexual attraction to children want to be lumped in among those who cannot be discriminated against based upon their sexual orientation.”

9. Steve Crampton: ENDA is Insanity (June 2012)

Speaking about a Senate hearing on ENDA, Liberty Counsel’s “Faith and Freedom” radio host Steve Crampton marveled that a transgender person was actually allowed to testify on behalf of the legislation and complained that ENDA is not about “equal rights” but rather “special rights” for gays and cross-dressers.

Crampton stated that if ENDA passed, he could come into work – “God forbid,” he said – wearing a dress and would be allowed to use the women’s restroom.  “In years past,” Crampton said, “we had another word for this: it’s called insanity.”

8. Rep. Louie Gohmert Misleads on ENDA, Criticizes Faith Groups that Affirm Gays and Lesbians 'Despite the Plumbing that God Created' (June 2012)

While speaking on Today’s Issues, the Texas congressman said the anti-discrimination legislation is “part of this administration’s ongoing war on religion, on particularly Judeo-Christian values,” and asserted that Muslims would also oppose the bill as well. However, Gohmert lamented the growth of Christian and Jewish denominations and organizations that affirm gays and lesbians and defend their rights, saying that they do so “despite the plumbing that God created.”

7. Mat Staver: ENDA ‘Will Harm Women and Children’ (July 2013)

Liberty Counsel head Mat Staver in a Freedom’s Call radio alert said that the ENDA bill is a “farce” that will “harm women and children.” How? Because employers “will be forced to hire cross-dressers,” whom Staver believes will go on to molest and assault kids.

6. Linda Harvey: Gays Deserve To Be Fired Because They ‘Insist On Displaying [Their] Lifestyles To Everyone’ (May 2013)

Mission America’s Linda Harvey stated her belief that schools, and employers in general, should have the right to fire LGBT personnel and urged them to exercise that right. She said that the only person to blame for getting fired is the LGBT employee who refuses to accept their employer’s “high moral standards” and “insist[s] on displaying these lifestyles to everyone and forcing their acceptance.” She said that “no one needs to be involved in homosexuality” and that the “homosexual lifestyle” is incompatible with being “an excellent employee” as it “shows a disrespect” to others.

5. Tony Perkins: ‘Totalitarian Homosexual Lobby’ Out to Destroy Religious Freedom with ENDA (March 2013)

“Like a B-grade 1950’s horror-movie, ENDA is coming back from the dead,” warned Family Research Council President Tony Perkins in a recent mailing. Perkins said President Obama is working with the “totalitarian homosexual lobby” to sneak ENDA into law, and if that happens, “Our freedom of religion will be destroyed.”

“In fact,” says Perkins in his letter, “under ENDA biblical morality becomes illegal.”

4. Andrea Lafferty Cites CT School Shooting to Rally Opposition to Non-Discrimination Policies (December 2012)

Andrea Lafferty of the Traditional Values Coalition used the school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, in order to bolster her campaign against ENDA. While speaking to Janet Mefferd about the Orange County, Florida, school system’s new non-discrimination policy that is similar to ENDA, Lafferty said that just as parents are upset about the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting and are concerned about keeping their children safe, they should also be worried about ENDA’s “devastating effects” as schools will have “people with some real issues playing out their personal problems in the classroom.”

Lafferty maintained that ENDA is part of the left’s “open season” on Christians on behalf of “fringe minorities and people that are truly sick.”  She warned that Chick-fil-A restaurants may soon be “forced” to hire “weirdos” seeking to undermine Christian businesses, warning that transgender people are committing “the ultimate act of self-hatred” and need “special medical treatment” rather than job protections.

3. Gordon Klingenschmitt: Under ENDA, ‘Christians Will Be Bankrupted’ And ‘Starve To Death’ (September 2013)

Dr. “Chaps” Gordon Klingenschmitt emailed members of his Pray In Jesus Name Project warning that Christians may face unemployment and starvation if the Employment Non-Discrimination Act passes.

“The Government is now ordering you: Forsake God or starve to death,” Klingenschmitt writes. “I pray that I would choose bankruptcy, starvation, even death, before disobedience to God.”

2. Bryan Fischer: Businesses Threatened by ‘Flaming Homosexual’ Job Applicants and the ‘Return of Jim Crow Laws’ (January 2013)

American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer warned in a blog post that “ENDA would represent the return of Jim Crow laws.” On his radio program Focal Point, Fischer warned that if ENDA is signed into law businesses will be faced with a barrage of “flaming homosexual” job applicants. “The homosexual lobby,” Fischer said, “will send a guy in there wearing stilettos, a dress and dangly earrings” in order to provoke Christian business-owners “not to hire him.”

1. Mat Staver: ENDA Will Result in the 'Death of Some Individuals' (June 2012)

Liberty Counsel chairman Mat Staver is ratcheting up the rhetoric in opposition to ENDA, even going so far as to say that if passed the legislation may lead to child molestation, sexual assault, and death. Staver told Jim Schneider of VCY America on Crosstalk that ENDA “will put individuals at risk and ultimately result in significant damage and even death of some individuals”:

Staver: “So you can go into these restrooms or changing rooms, if you’re a man, and want to go in and molest, or watch, or sexually assault young girls. So, I mean, the absurdity of this is just beyond understanding how someone could be in favor of it. This will ultimately, in addition to colliding with religious liberty, in addition to forcing a radical agenda on people, this also will put individuals at risk and ultimately result in significant damage and even death of some individuals.”

Bryan Fischer Will Not Have Sex With A Man!

Speaking yesterday with a caller who identified himself as a “non-practicing homosexual,” Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association reaffirmed his belief that homosexuality “is a matter of choice.” When the caller asked if Fischer “could have sex with a man,” Fischer was flummoxed and said he would never even begin to think about having gay sex.

When the caller pointed out the hypocrisy in Fischer’s position that gay men should simply just “choose” to see women, the AFA spokesman, still puzzled, said, “If an individual does not have a legitimate way to satisfy their sexual impulses, then the path that God has designed for them is the path of abstinence, chastity and celibacy.”

Watch:

Caller: Could you have sex with a man?

Fischer: I’m sorry?

Caller: Could you have sex with a man?

Fischer: Would I?

Caller: Could you?

Fischer: No.

Caller: I thought it was a choice?

Fischer: Sure it is, I’m just saying it’s emotionally, morally, mentally impossible for me—

Caller: But you just told me that you couldn’t do it?

Fischer: Yeah, I couldn’t do it, there was no way; there is nothing in me that would let me do that.

Caller: OK. How do you think I feel about women?

Fischer: I don’t know. How do you feel about women?

Caller: There ain’t no way.
