Diana West: Military's Anti-Ebola Mission Shows 'Development Of A Totalitarian Government Structure'

Conservative columnist Diana West does not approve of the Obama administration’s decision to send U.S. troops to West Africa to help fight the Ebola epidemic at its source by building treatment centers and training medical personnel. In fact, West told Frank Gaffney on “Secure Freedom Radio” last week that the mission shows that the president does not have “an American agenda” and is instead embracing “a totalitarian government structure.”

Gaffney told West that the administration said it would not return service members to the U.S. for treatment if they were to contract the disease — a claim that seems to be based on a Brietbart headline that isn’t backed up by the source it references — while it might bring in some foreign patients for treatment.

“How could they possibly do that with some non-Americans and not enable American citizens in uniform to be returned here?” he asked.

“Well, I think this goes back to the original question which does have to do with the fact that we have leaders with a global agenda, not an American agenda, who have all the power at the moment and certainly act as if they do,” West said.

“It’s exactly this idea that there is nothing special about America or Americans,” she continued. “Another point to get to is the notion of a commander in chief with so little regard for his forces…that he sees them as pawns in a global game of ideological utopia.”

“This is where you start seeing the development of a totalitarian government structure,” she said.

Paranoia-Rama: CPAC Edition

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

This week, here at Right Wing Watch we have been monitoring the Conservative Political Action Conference, the American Conservative Union’s annual summit that has been packed with typical right-wing blustering over taxesBenghazi, Ronald Reagan, not to mention plenty of good old fashioned anti-government conspiracy theories:

5) Wayne LaPierre’s American Nightmare

NRA head Wayne LaPierre told CPAC attendees yesterday that “political and media elites” have conspired against gun owners and conservatives in general, working to “punish anyone who disagrees.”

“The media's intentional corruption of the truth is an abomination and NRA members will never, and I mean never, submit or surrender to the national media,” he said.

Even though crime rates have been falling steadily since the 1990s, LaPierre described his dark vision of an America in which happy and peaceful neighborhoods have been transformed into places of violence and death filled with “knockout-gamers.”

4) IRS Just As Bad As Deposed Leader Of Ukraine

Plenty of CPAC speakers have mentioned the crisis in Ukraine as a supposed failure of President Obama, but Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch went as far as comparing the Obama administration to the government of overthrown Ukrainian president and Putin ally Viktor Yanukovych.

Andy Kroll of Mother Jones reports that Fitton told attendees of CPAC’s “IRS Targeting Scandal: Protecting the Voice of the People” panel that Obama’s IRS, which has been falsely accused of targeting conservative groups, is operating much like how the Yanukovych government violently suppressed anti-government protesters: “People are dying in the streets in Ukraine. People being oppressed by the political regime. That's what the IRS was doing.”

3) Trump’s Immigration Solutions

Donald Trump seems to think Jimmy Carter is dead, and that the US may die too if Congress passes immigration reform. The real estate mogul told CPAC yesterday that immigration reform would mean that America would no longer exist, as immigrants flood into the country, destroy the GOP and “take your job.”

2) Muslim Brotherhood Infiltration of CPAC

Anti-Muslim activist Frank Gaffney hosted an alternative CPAC event yesterday, prompted in part by worries that the right-wing gathering has been infiltrated by the Muslim Brotherhood through Republican activists such as Grover Norquist and Suhail Khan. Gaffney joined other conservatives in denouncing Norquist and Khan as Muslim Brotherhood agents who are advancing “civilization jihad” and undermining America.

Diana West yesterday took to WorldNetDaily to warn CPAC that Norquist and Khan are “a pair of influential men with track records of working with America’s enemies – Islamic organizations the U.S. government has linked to the Muslim Brotherhood and larger world of jihad.” She claimed that they are allied with those who hope “to destroy the United States and transform what is left into an Islamic-ruled land,” and pushed the Muslim Brotherhood “straight into the inner sanctum of the Bush White House.”

1) President Obama Is George Wallace

When the Justice Department challenged Louisiana’s voucher scheme over evidence that the program would resegregate the state’s schools, conservatives were unsurprisingly outraged. At CPAC today, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Religious Right leader Ralph Reed likened President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder to segregationist Alabama governor George Wallace.

West: Norquist And Khan Helping 'Subvert' GOP And America 'From Within'

On Secure Freedom Radio this week, Frank Gaffney promoted a recent letter of support he received from a group of former officials including former congressman Allen West and Family Research Council vice president Jerry Boykin, backing him up in his ongoing feud with the American Conservative Union over whether or not prominent economic conservatives Grover Norquist and Suhail Khan are infiltrating the movement on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Gaffney discussed the letter with anti-Muslim activist Diana West, who agreed that Norquist and Khan represent “the successful civilization jihad of the Muslim Brotherhood,” adding that the United States and the conservative movement are being “subverted from within.”

We are undergoing civilizational change,” she warned, “And I think this letter is a very important step in our education, hopefully before it’s too late.”

Gaffney: Diana, does this underscore the concern that you’ve been expressing about what’s happening in our polity, that we’ve seen not only selective enforcement of the law taking place, but increasingly the successful civilization jihad of the Muslim Brotherhood taking advantage of it to take us down.

West: Absolutely. This is a very significant letter, and congratulations to you on receiving this endorsement, because this is so, so central to your own fight to warn America, to lay out the case that we are being suborned – that’s not the right word – subverted from within. And this becomes an extremely important marker, really a clarion call, to as Americans, as conservatives to examine these issues with a frank and logical eye.

We are being, in a sense, asked to dismantle our survival instincts, the instincts that tell us jihad, that Sharia, that material support, that all of these things that actually are connected are disconnected. And in some ways, much of what we’ve been undergoing is kind of this very notion of deconstructing our understanding of who we are, what we are, and how to stay that way, how to protect ourselves. By divorcing material support from jihad, from divorcing jihad from Sharia, from divorcing Sharia from Islam, from divorcing all of these things from any notion that we are undergoing civilizational change. And I think this letter is a very important step in our education, hopefully before it’s too late.

WND Pundits: Impeach Obama Before He Turns Into Kim Jong-un

Conservative author Diana West is out with a new WorldNetDaily column in which she warns that President Obama is turning America into a North Korean-style dictatorship with “one-party rule” and must face impeachment:

A few days ago, [Lars] Hedegaard wrote me with a new assignment:

“Would you write something about a disturbing phenomenon: the fact that Obama rules by decree and neglects the Constitution. How can this go on? Nixon was a complete amateur compared to this would-be Kim Jong-un. It looks like a coup d’etat. Nobody talks about it in Europe.”

Barack Obama, the government’s chief executive, is seizing powers that belong to the legislative branch. He’s not the first president to do so; not by a long shot. That’s also part of the ambivalence problem. Obama fits an accepted historical mode of abuse exemplified, for example, by the even more dictatorial FDR. Meanwhile, as Obama’s defenders correctly note, Obama, having issued 168 “decrees,” ranks on the low end among modern presidents. What distinguishes Obama’s fiats in our time, however, as Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, told CNSNews.com, is that Obama “has repeatedly made use of executive orders to change statute, to change law, to change legislation enacted by Congress.”

This is the formula for one-party rule. As such, it is outrageous, but it is just more static.

To be sure, some conservative Republicans – Sen. Mike Lee, as well as Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, for example – are speaking out against what Cruz calls the “imperial presidency.” But will their impassioned voices become static, too?

But Obama’s systematic assaults on constitutional governance require more than defunding, and more than static. They require, first and most urgently, a full airing. Impeachment, which may begin with an impeachment inquiry, is the means the Constitution provided us. It offers the way “forward,” as the president might say, to re-establish that America is a nation of laws, not men.

Not to be outdone, Alan Keyes claims that the “would-be dictator” Obama is getting help from the “GOP’s quisling leaders” in his movement towards “tyranny.”

He called on voters to back candidates who have “pledged to impeach/remove Obama and his collaborators,” warning that “if things just go on as they are, liberty will fail for lack of a party of liberty willing to battle against the elitist faction’s budding tyrants.”

If the Executive fails to carry out laws made by Congress (like the DOMA for instance), or takes actions not authorized by law (as Obama has with immigration and Obamacare), the legislature has two ways of compelling him to act, or to cease from unlawful action:

1. the power of the purse – cutting off money to the Executive branch; and

2. The impeachment/removal power – removing the vice president and the president, so that the succession provided for by law brings someone to office who will enforce the laws and respect the Constitution.

Absent active congressional discipline, Executive power always inclines toward dictatorship. Vaulting ambition aside, the pressure of events may feed this tendency even when nothing else does. We’ve had activist presidents before – Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Lyndon Johnson, to name a few. But only in the last generation or so has Congress consistently failed to use its constitutional power to curtail and rebuke unconstitutional Executive actions.

Even more culpably, since control of the U.S. House was restored to them by grass-roots voters in 2010, the GOP’s quisling leaders have collaborated with Obama’s radical socialist schemes, giving him mainly ineffectual, lip-service opposition. Thanks to this GOP collaboration, Obama has behaved in a more and more openly dictatorial fashion. Like other would-be dictators, at first he abuses power cautiously. When he is not called to account, his impunity leads others to fear him. Their fear encourages him to escalate his abuses. As those greater abuses also go unanswered, fear commences to predominate, until at last few if any are left courageous enough to stand against him.

Was Obama’s move against Dinesh D’Souza a kind of Rubicon, across which we must expect new and higher benchmarks of tyranny? However that may be, thanks to the quisling temperament of the GOP leadership, only a determined push from the grass roots will re-energize Congress’ constitutional power to thwart dictatorship. America needs a Congress willing and able to call Obama to account by way of the Constitution’s impeachment/removal provisions. Without that impetus, the political class will fall-in behind his bid to free the U.S. government’s power from all semblance of prior constraint (too many of them quite eagerly).

The political change needed to get this result must either overthrow the quisling leadership of the GOP, or else forge the basis for a national grass-roots voter mobilization poised to replace the now shiftless Republican Party. If things just go on as they are, liberty will fail for lack of a party of liberty willing to battle against the elitist faction’s budding tyrants.

To remedy this deficiency requires an appeal to the people. The upcoming general election offers the chance to make such an appeal, in order to elect a Congress capable of driving back the elitists bent on liberty’s demise. If people demand an impeachment/removal Congress; if they back up that demand with their votes; 2015 will bring on a Congress differently composed. Reformed by the presence of constitutional majorities pledged to impeach/remove Obama and his collaborators, Congress will have what it takes to defeat Obama’s offensive maneuvers against America’s constitutional liberty.

Diana West: Obamacare Will Turn US Into A 'Leading Outpost of the Caliphate'

WorldNetDaily’s Diana West is out with a new column entitled “Huma Abedin: Muslim Brotherhood Princess.”

Of course, since this is WorldNetDaily after all, she somehow managed to link this to Obamacare.

West maintains that the health care reform law means that the Communists were the real winners of the Cold War as the “totalitarian” law creates a “super-state” that will destroy the Republic.

She argues that the “cover-up” of Huma Abedin’s status as “a veritable Muslim Brotherhood princess” is part of a plan to shield Americans from the “Muslim Brotherhood penetration of the federal policy-making chain”: “[Michele] Bachmann was crucified, by Democrats and Republicans alike for asking urgently important questions about national security.”

With our guards down to the Marxist-Muslim conspiracy, Americans will become complacent to the supposed Islamic infiltration of government and the dangers of Obamacare: “don’t worry. We ‘won’ the Cold War. Obamacare, here we come. At this rate, we’ll declare ‘victory’ in the so-called war on terror and, before you know it, become a leading outpost of the caliphate.”

Nationalized health care was one of the first programs enacted by the Bolsheviks after they seized power in 1917. Nearly a century later, the U.S. enacted “Obamacare.”

Who won the Cold War again? This is one of the questions I work over in my new book, “American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character” (St. Martin’s Press). Can we realistically claim liberty and free markets triumphed over collectivism when today there is only a thin Senate line trying to fend off Obamacare’s totalitarian intrusions into citizens’ lives? We see perhaps a dozen or so patriots led by conservative ace Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah, gallantly mustering forces to defund further enforcement of this government behemoth aborning. (Call your senators and ask them to join – or tell you why they didn’t at the next town hall.) How can we maintain that the republic endured when a centralized super-state has taken its place?

So, once more, who really won the Cold War? The question is better framed when we realize that the battleground where the Free World met Marx was also psychological. Consciously or not, we struggled against an insidious Marxist ideology that was always, at root, an assault on our nation’s character.

The most recent manifestation of victory over the American character shows through the Anthony Weiner-Huma Abedin scandal. This scandal is a paradoxical double whammy of both exposure and cover-up.

True, the barbs of Huma’s ambition – as naked as her husband’s dirty pics – have broken through the gauzy chatter. But cut off from context, they, too, end up perpetuating what is, in fact, the great Huma Abedin cover-up.

It is not enough to analyze Huma Abedin as a “political wife.” Abedin is also a veritable Muslim Brotherhood princess. As such, the ideological implications of her actions – plus her long and privileged access to U.S. policy-making through Hillary Clinton – must be considered, particularly in the context of national security.

If the Abedin-Muslim Brotherhood story rings any bells, it is probably because of Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn. Last summer, Bachmann, along with four other House Republicans, raised the issue of Huma Abedin among other examples of possible Muslim Brotherhood penetration of the federal policy-making chain. They asked inspectors general at five departments, including the State Department, to investigate their concerns, but nothing happened – nothing, that is, except that Bachmann was crucified, by Democrats and Republicans alike for asking urgently important questions about national security.

This made the entire subject, already taboo, positively radioactive – with Huma Abedin becoming the poster victim of this supposed “McCarthyism” redux.

End of story. Never mind facts. Never mind also that in his day, Sen. Joseph McCarthy was asking urgently important questions about national security, too.

But don’t worry. We “won” the Cold War. Obamacare, here we come. At this rate, we’ll declare “victory” in the so-called war on terror and, before you know it, become a leading outpost of the caliphate.

Anti-Muslim Activist Upset Huma Abedin Walks On Streets That Were In 'Ruins and Ashes and Smoke at 9/11'

Conspiracy theorists Frank Gaffney and Diana West yesterday took turns attacking Huma Abedin, the top Hillary Clinton aide and wife of New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, and insisted that the media is covering up her ties to Muslim terrorists. Gaffney and West, like other anti-Muslim activists, encouraged Michele Bachmann’s witch hunt against Abedin. The two have long engaged in baseless conspiracy theories; for example, both are birthers and Gaffney thinks Obama might be a secret Muslim

Yesterday on Secure Freedom Radio, West accused the media and government officials of orchestrating a “suppression of the facts” about Abedin…just as they supposedly repressed the truth about the “Communist penetration” of the government in the 1950s.

She went on to say that Abedin either “lied on her security clearance form or someone had to intercede” in order to gain a security clearance while working at the State Department.

West maintained that Abedin presents a “nightmare” scenario for the FBI and scolded her for having the gall to campaign in New York with her husband over a decade after 9/11 attacks.

“This is the kind of nightmare that an FBI agent looking at security form, his head would be exploding,” West told Gaffney, “but somehow this woman got into this position and now continues campaigning on the streets of New York City where over a decade ago we were in ruins and ashes in smoke at 9/11.”

Anti-Muslim Activists Apoplectic Over PFAW's Michele Bachmann Petition

On Monday, People For the American Way delivered a petition with 178,000 signatures to House Speaker John Boehner calling for the removal of Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. Bachmann, one of Congress’ leading purveyors of conspiracy theories, earned rebukes from Boehner and others last year when she accused several Muslim-American government employees, include top Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin, of being secret agents of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The petition, to put it mildly, hit a nerve among Bachmann’s allies in the anti-Muslim Right. FrontPageMag, an online outfit led by David Horowitz, has published a full three articles defending Bachmann and accusing PFAW of “smearing” the “vindicated” Bachmann by launching an “all-out war” on her.  In one article, Robert Spencer of JihadWatch argues, “If they really had any genuine concern for the American way, instead of calling for her removal from the Intelligence committee, the People for the American Way would be calling for Bachmann to be appointed to chair that committee.”

Yesterday, Horowitz launched his own petition, titled, ironically, “Stop the Witch Hunt Against Rep. Bachmann.”

Horowitz and Spencer aren’t the only ones coming to Bachmann’s defense. The Center for Security Policy’s Frank Gaffney, who was the source of the bulk of Bachmann’s accusations against Abedin, and conservative columnist Diana West discussed the petition on Wednesday’s edition of Secure Freedom Radio. People For the American Way, Gaffney suggested, is part of the “Red-Green Axis” and should be called instead “People For the Islamist Way”:

Gaffney: I wanted to turn to a woman who has probably understood this jihadist enterprise, most especially the civilization jihadist element of it, that is to say the so-called non-violent -- actually pre-violent form -- that we’ve talked about in the book that you contributed marvelously to, Sharia: The Threat to America, namely Michele Bachmann. She has been savaged now for almost a year for having actually raised an alarm about some of this. What’s going on with her at the moment and what should our listeners be thinking about it and doing?

West: Well, you have People For the American Way, a leftist advocacy group, actually putting together a petition asking to have Speaker John Boehner to remove Michele Bachmann from the House Intelligence Committee. Now this actually all ties in to what we were talking about already because FOX has also savaged Michele Bachmann, specifically going back to last summer when she and a few of her colleagues were raising questions about Muslim Brotherhood penetration into the United States government. Specifically, one of the cause celebre was the perhaps penetration, her question of the secretary of state’s office with her top aide being Huma Abedin, who we’ve spoken about before. And this is one of these…

Gaffney: Closely tied to the Muslim Brotherhood.

West: Correct.

Gaffney: I think what we’re really getting at here is Michele Bachmann is being vilified for having exposed some of that influence operation, penetration problem and she should be, if anything, lauded for it, not taken to task by the Red-Green Axis, as they call it, doing business under the form of People For the Islamist Way.

Diana West Warns Obama is Fostering 'Totalitarianism' and 'The End of Liberty'

Conservative columnist Diana West returned to Frank Gaffney’s show, Secure Freedom Radio, where the two agreed that President Obama is going to gut the Constitution in order to bring about a “dictatorship.” Gaffney pointed to an op-ed by Louis Michael Seidman which criticized the Constitution’s “archaic, idiosyncratic and downright evil provisions,” and then connected Seidman to…Obama. How you might ask? Well, they are both constitutional law professors, Gaffney explains, so they must share the same views on the suitability of the Constitution in today’s society and both support “a kind of post-constitutionalism.”

West agreed with Gaffney’s claim that Obama is putting Seidman’s take on the Constitution into practice and went on to argue that he is undermining the rule of law and promoting “totalitarianism.” Gaffney also warned that “freedom of speech” is “very much on the line.”

Gaffney: There’s a kind of betrayal being proposed at the moment, it’s been quite formally now advanced in the form of a column that’s getting a lot of attention but less formally it seems to be the practice of the Obama administration, a kind of post-constitutionalism. Louis Michael Seidman who is a professor of constitutional law at Georgetown University, the profession that of course our President had prior to entering public life at the University of Chicago, it was entitled back in December 30, 2012, “Let’s Give Up on the Constitution.” Do you think, Diana West, that’s in fact what we are doing now increasingly in the government of the United States under President Barack Obama?

West: Yes, I do. I think that this is another evolution that has been a long time coming; this is not a brand new development. However, the boldness and the frontal assault of such a notion is going to increasingly gain currency and what we are actually doing is watching the disillusion of rule of law and the increasing elevation of the rule of men, by men I mean women as well, but in terms of a rule of a person who is not bound by the law. This leads to dictatorship, it leads to totalitarianism, it leads to the end of liberty. It’s a terrible development and it’s dire. I can’t overstate the seriousness of this notion gaining currency, particularly in law schools. This is a tremendous threat and unless our legislators, unless our pundits, our people, our town halls, our tea parties get involved in such a matter it is going to sweep us over.

Gaffney: Not least, and this is an area I know you’re following very closely Diana West and we will discuss with you again in the weeks to come in 2013, the effect on some of our most fundamental freedoms. For example, freedom of speech, the ability to have this kind of conversation where it might give offense to Muslims, is very much on the line.

Gaffney: Obama Displays 'Hostility to the United States'

The Center for Security Policy’s Frank Gaffney dedicated Wednesday’s edition of Secure Freedom Radio to discussing the Benghazi attack and the resignation of Gen. David Petreaus with leaders of the anti-Muslim Right. He spoke first with conservative columnist Diana West, who in October claimed that the Benghazi attack was a “fortunate event” because it brought attention to the Obama administration’s “supporting jihad.”

West – who explored similar ground in a WorldNetDaily column yesterday -- told Gaffney that Petreaus’ extramarital affair was “apiece” with the entire philosophy behind the counterinsurgency strategy in Afghanistan, claiming that American troops are now being ordered to “revere the Koran” and “look the other way” at “polygamy, pederasty, abuse of dogs.”

“I’m not surprised to see the men who prosecuted this doctrine, Gen. Petraeus, Gen. Allen, and who else, we don’t even know how many others, showing such immoral leadership and such corruption of their own personal lives,” she said.

West: In a sense, we live in a COIN [counterinsurgency] world, because I think the doctrine that Christopher Stevens and the Bush administration and of course the Obama administration was pushing was this notion, if you do enough to please the Islamic world you can work with them. But in that process, you become part of the submission. You adopt so much of the Islamic worldview that you lose your own. And I think the counterinsurgency doctrine exemplifies this with guns. It’s a matter of appeasing Islamic masters, of satisfying Islamic norms in order, the idea is to win them over to your side. But you no longer have a side once you’ve given over freedom of speech, which the military essentially gave over in ordering men to revere the Koran and never speak ill of it, once you give over the notion of outrage over polygamy, pederasty, abuse of dogs, which the military institutionalizes in forcing our men to look the other way at these behaviors, which are norms in Afghanistan. You have given away yourself, you no longer have yourself, and as these men come home when these attitudes towards corruption – everything in Afghanistan is done with money, you know jizya, the amounts of, your persuading people to do things not because you’re right or according to the law, but because you pay them, these things are going to seep back into our society. And this tolerance of polygamy, pederasty, etc. is going to seep back in. These are dangerous things, we’re no longer ourselves.

West: The notion of protecting the populations of Iraq and Afghanistan, which is at the heart of COIN, over protecting American forces in the field, I believe is an immoral doctrine. And I’m not surprised to see the men who prosecuted this doctrine, Gen. Petraeus, Gen. Allen, and who else, we don’t even know how many others, showing such immoral leadership and such corruption of their own personal lives. I don’t think it’s far afield, I think it’s all apiece of a larger philosophy.

Gaffney: Symptomatic of a larger problem, one I think that those of us who revere the military and its place in our society as our defenders must take very much to heart.

Elsewhere in the program, Gaffney spoke with author Andy Bostom, who claimed that President Obama has adopted what he sees as the West’s “cultural self-loathing.” Gaffney agreed, adding that “it really speaks to the psychology of this guy… this hostility to the United States.”

Bostom: I think we’re coming to a phase in the West where this sort of cultural self-loathing. Our engagement now in these wars, the way we’ve conducted them, may be the apotheosis of this trend, this completely self-destructive self-loathing. And our president seems to have totally bought into this mentality that somehow, you know, all the ills of the world are due to western attacks, to hegemony and colonial…and this is all the detritus of the colonial empire, and we are a guilty people, we are a guilty civilization, and he is actualizing policies, it seems to me, based on this mindset. And al Qaeda’s a great example. On the one hand, they aren’t even Muslims, according to our president and his advisors, they’re some sort of vague manifestation of extremism that has nothing to do with Islam, that has nothing to do with Muslims, that’s a sui generis phenomenon or something, but we are incalculably wrong in almost everything we do.

Gaffney: That’s such a telling insight, Andy Bostom. It really speaks to the psychology of this guy, and we’ll be speaking momentarily with Dr. Paul Kengor about his sort of upbringing and influences that may have helped shape this hostility to the United States. But to the extent that it really is translating now into fundamentally misunderstanding the danger that’s being posed to us and therefore making absolutely impossible our success in contending with it, it really is a disaster of the first order and something that I pray we will have members of Congress addressing in the course of these hearings starting this week.

Diana West: Benghazi Attack was a 'Fortunate Event' Because it Helps Romney

Last time we reported on conservative columnist Diana West, she and Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy were agreeing that President Obama is ineligible to be president because his birth certificate is likely a forgery. Gaffney hailed West, who also collaborated with him on his “Team B II Report: Sharia: the Threat to America” [PDF], for her birther “research” and called her a “hero of the Republic.”

West appeared on Gaffney’s radio program once again this week to discuss the Obama administration’s response to the Benghazi attack. West said that the attack was a “fortunate event” because it is “grabbing people’s attention so that we can understand what’s wrong with the American ‘Arab Spring’ policy that Obama has been executing,” giving Mitt Romney an opportunity to criticize Obama’s “lies” and policies “supporting jihad, Muslim Brotherhood actors.”

West: As you and I have discussed, I strongly feel that Benghazi is almost in a strange way a fortunate event. Not obviously having to do with any of the actual killing and destruction and harm it’s done to our country, but in the sense of grabbing people’s attention so that we can understand what’s wrong with the American ‘Arab Spring’ policy that Obama has been executing. In a sense that’s what I would have wanted in a Republican nominee to use Benghazi as a teaching school, taking it down the line, whether it’s presidential lies, administration lies, whether it’s security failure and whether it’s sort of the über-theme, the failure of supporting jihad, Muslim Brotherhood actors across the Middle East and how it comes back to bight you every time.

Gaffney: Yes, you have written brilliantly about this.

Frank Gaffney Goes Birther

Anti-Muslim activist Frank Gaffney has served as an adviser to Michele Bachmann and on his talk show hosted Republican notables like Rand Paul, Allen West, Louie Gohmert, Peter King, along with many other Republican officials. Now that the GOP has all but embraced anti-Muslim views, his radical claims have not offended Republican leaders, except for his attacks against conservative leader Grover Norquist for supposedly aiding the Muslim Brotherhood.

Last week he hosted conservative columnist Diana West and lavished her “research” with praise, concluding that Obama is indeed ineligible to be president:

For her work on the birther issue, Gaffney hailed West as a “hero of the Republic”:

Gaffney repeated a fake, made-up quote that Obama supposedly admitted to not being born in the U.S. while running for U.S. Senate as fact, while West cited a baseless rumor about an omniscient mailman and another debunked hoax that Obama’s own grandmother said he was born in Kenya:

West went on to praise birther Sheriff Joe Arpaio, calling him an “American hero” and that “John Wayne could have played him,” and said that he proved that Obama’s birth certificate is a forgery. “We have the President of the United States and his support system pushing this document out as an authentic representation of the long form birth certificate,” Gaffney charged, “it certainly stinks to high heavens”:

The pair said that the government and the media were both actively suppressing the birthers’ “evidence,” with West maintaining that “we are not operating in a free society at this point” and that America is becoming an “authoritarian, dictatorial” society. Gaffney, of course, tied it all back to the supposed menace of Sharia law:

Gaffney said it was “reminiscent of how totalitarians suppress the truth,” much like in Communist societies, and then said it all goes back to Obama’s ties to Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Saul Alinsky…and Vladimir Lenin!

Again, this is supposed to be a leading “expert” on the Right.
