He said that the Obama administration is “intentionally” aiding terrorists: “This administration, I believe, is treasonous.”
Guandolo claimed that Obama has an Islamic-Marxist worldview and has put likeminded people — “the children of communists, enemies of the United States” — into high-ranking government positions.
“I think whoever the next president is, whether it’s Mr. Cruz or Mr. Trump or somebody else, they are going to have to literally purge, and I’m going to use the word ‘purge,’ the system,” he said. “They’re going to have to clean house in the bureaucracy for communists, Marxists and jihadists that are inside our system.”
The Obama administration, Guandolo lamented, is ignoring all the people threatening the United States because government officials agree with their anti-American views.
Not only should such officials who “aid and abet the enemy” be purged from office, Guandolo said, but they should also be thrown in jail for treason.
Lipkin told host Rick Wiles that the plan to bring 100 million Muslims to America “imminently” is on track as God destroys Israel’s “enemies” one by one, predicting that more people will flee the Middle East after God annihilates not only Syria and Iraq but also Turkey, Egypt and Iran.
“It’s an invasion,” he said. “They will use Agenda 21 to confiscate land to prepare for pure Islamic cities throughout the United States.”
When Wiles asked him if Muslims will exploit the “millions of foreclosed homes in the United States,” Lipkin affirmed that “Muslims will buy them all up,” or receive the properties for free from the government or Muslim organizations.
But on the bright side, Lipkin said that the U.S. economy will improve thanks to the upcoming “building boom” to house the tens of millions of refugees, although it would “make America a Muslim country” in the end.
Lipkin also told Wiles that “Muslims are a very, very big segment in every prison in the world,” including every single black inmate in the U.S.
The two then agreed that President Obama seeks to close the Guantanamo Bay prison in order to let terrorists recruit American prisoners.
Last month, Donald Trump appeared on “The Alex Jones Show,” where he told the right-wing pundit that he has an “amazing” reputation, unlike other journalists, whom Trump commonlyrefers to as “scum.” Among Jones’ many wild conspiracy theories is his belief that the massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, which took place three years ago today, was “staged” by the Obama administration.
Trump has not faced any criticism from his fellow Republicans for going on Jones’ program or for touting his work, despite the fact that Jones has been instrumental in pushing the harmful Sandy Hook conspiracy theory.
A 2013 Fairleigh Dickinson University poll found that “a quarter (25%) of Americans think that facts about the shootings at Sandy Hook elementary last year are being hidden and an additional eleven percent are unsure” and that “Republicans are more likely to think that the truth about Sandy Hook is being suppressed, with 32 percent agreeing.”
Sandy Hook truthers, who largely believe that the attack was faked as part of a government plot to push strict gun laws, are not alone in delivering twisted responses to the mass shooting. Others have used the massacre to attack gay marriage, the separation of church and state and, of course, gun laws.
WorldNetDaily columnist Erik Rush said that Sandy Hook shooter Adam Lanza “positively reeked of what intelligence operatives I know would call the tell-tale signs of recruitment and conditioning,” and wondered if Lanza was the target of a government scheme to recruit “vulnerable individuals for psyops” to advance “their diabolical agenda.”
Renew America’s Austin Miles similarly suggested that the massacre was “purposely orchestrated” to “disarm all Americans to retard resistance,” writing that Lanza and others were “brainwashed into carrying out such deeds that would prove a point about private gun ownership and the threat to all families as a result.” Then, he said, there would be no opposition to Obama using an “Executive Order to declare himself president (dictator) for life.” Fellow Renew America pundit, Laurie Roth, claimed Obama “staged” the attack because he’s on a “mission to take assault weapons from the people.”
Radio host Rick Wiles stated that “Sandy Hook was timed to coincide with the political agenda of the socialist Democrats such as Barry Soetoro [Obama], Chuckie Schumer, and Dianne Feinstein to pass stringent federal gun control laws,” alleging that “the shooting event was timed to coincide with the gun control initiative.” Another conservative radio host, Bradlee Dean, likened the Sandy Hook killings to Adolf Hitler “attacking his own Reichstag to start a world war” and said that it was orchestrated to pass an arms control treaty.
The Tea Party-aligned National Liberty Foundation insisted that the “staged” massacre showed just “how far your president went to get your guns”: “He wants to be a dictator, he doesn’t want to get out of the White House and he loves spending your money.”
Many of their assertions relied heavily on discredited claims that “crisis actors” posed as grieving family members at the school and that one of the young victims later met with President Obama (she didn’t, it was her little sister).
One Republican congressman, Louie Gohmert, however, told a fan of his that he would watch a Sandy Hook conspiracy theory video because he’s “always learning new things.”
Religious Right’s Reaction
Several Religious Right activists responded to the Sandy Hook shooting by warning that the massacre was a sign that God is no longer protecting America, removing his hand of protection due to supposed societal ills such as gay marriage, abortion rights and the separation of church and state.
“Millions of people have decided that God doesn’t exist, or he’s irrelevant to me and we have killed 54 million babies and the institution of marriage is right on the verge of a complete redefinition,” Focus on the Family founder James Dobson lamented. “Believe me, that is going to have consequences too. And a lot of these things are happening around us, and somebody is going to get mad at me for saying what I am about to say right now, but I am going to give you my honest opinion: I think we have turned our back on the Scripture and on God Almighty and I think he has allowed judgment to fall upon us.”
“We’ve taken God our of our school, we’ve taken him out of our government and now we seem shocked at all of these things,” Franklin Graham stated following the attack. “Why are we shocked? We shouldn’t be shocked. This is what happens when a society turns its back on God.” Author Joel Rosenberg said the shooting was one of the tragedies America is “reaping as a result of a society that increasingly ignores God,” specifically blaming comedian Jon Stewart for waging a “war on Christmas” and mocking conservatives.
One pastor said that a “gracious,” “merciful” and “loving” God decided not to intervene to prevent the shooting because it would “bring us back to our senses” and make people realize that God’s judgment “has really come by our turning away from the Lord.” Bryan Fischer of American Family Radio specifically blamed legal abortion and the lack of state-sponsored prayer for the attack, stating that God is a “gentleman” who “is not going to go where he is not wanted.”
Blocking background checks
Ted Cruz has proudly boasted of his role in successfully blocking a bipartisan Senate measure to expand background checks on gun purchases following the school shooting, bragging that unlike Republican “squishes,” he stood firm in opposing universal background checks. The Sandy Hook-affected families who supported the efforts, he said, were being used as “political props.”
National Rifle Association board member and musician Ted Nugent blamed the shooting on America’s “politically correct culture” and “‘anything goes’ value system” which “vilifies, condemns and mocks traditional societal values and customs at every opportunity,” while NRA executive director Wayne LaPierre delivered an unhinged speech against gun control measures, lashing out at the group’s critics, the entertainment industry, video games, the media and a lack of guns in schools.
But while nearly nine out of 10 Americans, including nine out of 10 gun owners, support more background checks, Republican lawmakers care more about the support they receive from groups like the NRA, and have done next to nothing to tackle the issue of gun violence in the wake of tragedies like Sandy Hook.
Instead, Republicans claimed that the government should focus on mental health and thentried to block access to mental health services.
Few if any of the GOP presidential candidates are offering any meaningful gun reform proposals, outside of their unwavering dogma: More guns.
This week on “TruNews,” Rick Wiles and his team discussed President Obama’s involvement in restraining ISIS. According to Wiles, rather than working to destroy ISIS, Obama is legitimizing the group and attempting to expand an ISIS controlled caliphate. “There’s a reason Obama says ‘ISIL,’ not ‘ISIS’… He is saying the Muslim caliphate will extend to Israel,” Wiles claimed.
“Obama is setting up an Islamic caliphate in the Middle East,” Wiles declared. “He’s doing it from the White House.”
Wiles was so confident in his analysis that he stated that his account is irrefutable. “My critics, all of the left wing media, they will not challenge me on this issue,” he said. “Oh, they’ll make fun of me, they’ll mock me about every other thing, but they will not challenge me on this issue that Obama is a Muslim building a caliphate in the Middle East. Because it’s true. It is the truth.”
Wiles then shifted the subject to Russia’s actions in the conflict. Wiles claimed that Putin, not Obama, is actually fighting back against ISIS in the Middle East, despite the fact that Russian airstrikes rarely target the terrorist group.
“I’m going to say something that’s going to shock a lot of American evangelicals,” he said, “but God is on Putin’s side. Did you hear what I said? The Almighty God is on the side of Putin and the Russians.” Wiles stated that God is supporting Putin because he is on the side of “justice” and is “preventing the genocide of Christians, which is being orchestrated by America’s Muslim caliphate, Mohammad President in the White House.”
Rick Wiles has warned of an upcoming World War on his show “TruNews” in the past, but this week he had an even more dire warning.
Wiles declared that “World War III has started,” which, he said, is all the doing of President Obama: “I also believe future historians will record that Barack Obama was the Adolf Hitler of the Third World War — a dangerous, mentally unstable madman who set the world on fire.”
He lamented that Obama was able to create the war while “the zombie-like public sat on their hands and watched.”
Yesterday, in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris, End Times radio host Rick Wiles returned to one of his favorite subjects, claiming that the Syrian refugee crisis is all part of “Jihad Barry” Obama’s plot to “lead an Islamic invasion of America.”
Wiles cited the words of Avi Lipkin, who has recently been spreading the rumor that there are ISIS plants in every church in America, saying that Lipkin told him as far back as 2011 that “Barack Obama was going to lead an Islamic invasion of America, that there was going to be chaos in the Middle East and it would be the cover to migrate millions of Muslims into the West.”
Wiles said that while, at the time, people “couldn’t imagine it,” recent events are bearing out Lipkin’s prediction.
“I’m telling you, this is what’s going on,” he said, “this mass migration is not an accident, it’s not the fruit of bad policy, it’s the fruit of deliberate policy. This is a man who is deliberately hitting beehives, going from tree to tree hitting a beehive with a baseball bat. He knows what he’s doing, and this is to create total confusion in the West. I’m talking about Barack Obama, this man is Jihad Barry. He is a jihadist.”
Although people might laugh now, he said, “I believe history will prove me to be right.”
One of the astounding things about Rick Wiles’ End Times radio program “TruNews” is that when he invites fellow right-wing activists for interviews they often end up sounding absolutely reasonable by comparison as they try to talk Wiles down from his latest conspiracy theory.
That was the case yesterday when Wiles invited Patrick Poole of the conservative PJ Media onto his program to discuss the situation in the Middle East and Poole had to spend his time trying to convince Wiles that President Obama did not actually secretly spend half a billion dollars creating ISIS.
“There is no war against ISIS, Patrick, he’s not killing — he funded ISIS, he armed ISIS,” Wiles insisted. “I mean, this is part of the lie, this is part of the narrative.”
Citing the failure of a $500 million program to train rebel fighters in Syria, Wiles insisted that that money had been instead been included in a “black op budget” to create ISIS. “They spent $500 million building ISIS!” he said.
“What do you think was happening at Benghazi?” he asked. “They were running guns through Benghazi to ISIS.”
When Poole asked him what proof he had for this, Wiles said, “I would say the destruction of Syria and the slaughtering of the Christians and the burning of the churches, that’s the proof.”
“That’s the proof,” he added later. “Syria’s on fire. Somebody set Syria on fire, and the United States government is behind it and Russia has stepped in to stop this madness and it’s going to lead to World War III.”
Last week, “Trunews” host Rick Wiles lashed out at Chick-fil-A for yielding to the “Obamanista homosexual communists” that “went after Chick-fil-A with a vengeance” several years ago over the company’s ties to anti-LGBT groups, calling events like “Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day” a mistake.
Wiles was especially angry that the restaurant sponsored a Pride Parade and LGBT film festival (the twoevents were sponsored by franchise owners, not the company itself), and that CEO and president Dan Cathy expressed regret about how the company became involved in the marriage debate.
“He said, ‘Every leader goes through different phases of maturity, growth and development and it helps by recognizing the mistakes that you make, and you learn from those mistakes. If not, you’re just a fool. I’m thankful that I lived through it and I learned a lot from it.’ Well, we learned a lot about you too, Mr. Cathy,” Wiles said. “Personally, I think Chick-fil-A should add another meat to the menu: Yellow-bellied weasel.” AUDIO
Rick Wiles spent the second half of his “TruNews” radio program on Tuesday warning about the evils of Halloween. Wiles said that he refuses to celebrate Halloween because “it is not [his] religion” and “Satan is not [his] God.”
Since Halloween is “a religious holiday dedicated to death and the author of death, Lucifer,” he discourages churches from participating in the holiday. “There is nothing sadder than seeing Christian churches participate in this demonic ritual of death,” he said.
Later in the segment, Wiles expressed his disappointment that people all over the United States “worship” Satan. He described the time he spent in South America, “where the Catholic Church recognizes very paganistic holidays and practices,” and in “Third World and developing countries,” where he saw “bizarre” things, like people having parades in costume.
He admitted that he thought these people were “uncivilized, pagan barbarians,” but had sympathy for them because they are “spiritually lost” and “don’t know Jesus Christ.” Wiles went on to lament that he realized that you see “the same group of people” in the United States on Halloween. These are people who are “worshiping their God, their Father: Lucifer.”
Rick Wiles began his “TruNews” radio program yesterday by reading recent news items, including the recent developments in the South China Sea and in Iraq and Syria.
Wiles responded to the news that a U.S. destroyer entered disputed waters in the South China Sea and that the U.S. will begin action on the ground in Iraq and Syria by alleging that these moves will lead to “World War III” if Obama is not stopped.
Wiles declared that these actions are proof that President Obama is “mentally unstable” and that someone should “handcuff [Obama] and take him to a mental institution, before he starts World War III and a billion people die because of his madness.”
On Friday’s edition of “Trunews,” WorldNetDaily managing editor David Kupelian told host Rick Wiles that liberals are on the brink of throwing conservatives in jail for allegedly being insane, when it is actually liberals who “are the sick ones” driving everybody insane.
Kupelian, who was promoting his book “The Snapping of the American Mind,” said that “the social sciences are run by the left” and these liberal leaders will soon say that conservatives are “crazy” and therefore “can’t own guns,” when it is in fact liberals who are have increased rates of mental illness brought on by “crazy leftist colleges,” the sexual revolution and abortion rights, citing discredited claims that abortion contributes to mental health issues in women.
“Utopia is what we had before they came along,” he said of liberals. “America was the most wonderful, wealthy, there was more happiness per capita and more opportunity in America than any nation in history, they want to take that and fundamentally transform it. Those guys are the sick ones.”
Wiles had his own thoughts on the matter: “I believe, David, the reason they’re going insane is that God has turned them over to a reprobate mind.”
“I believe that too,” Kupelian said, before saying that he really just wants to bring Americans together.
Rick Wiles invited climate change denier and End Times predictor Cliff Harris on his “TruNews” program last week to talk about the climate change debate, which they agreed was a “hoax” being used to grow the size of government.
Wiles warned that leaders like Pope Francis, Al Gore and Bernie Sanders are part of a plan to “use global warming to impose global socialism” during which they will “take control of property, eliminate private property rights take control of natural resources.” Wiles said the pupose of this plan is to impose “a centralized global government controlling the activities of every human being on the planet. That’s what Al Gore and all those socialists are after, and they’re using the climate as the justification.”
Wiles also proposed that this is a sign of the second coming of Christ, “this is evidence of Jesus Christ coming back.” Harris offered that mass support for Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign is also evidence that the second coming is imminent.
Harris warned that a leader like Sanders would be disastrous because he would allow ISIS to infiltrate the United States “in a big wave” with Syrian refugees. “If we do not elect, in this country, in 2016, elect somebody that’s strong, somebody that’s godly… I believe we are in for a horrendous time in this country,” Harris said. “If people think things are bad now, they haven’t seen anything, Rick.
Inveterate conspiracy theorist Rick Wiles invited two prominent anti-immigration activists onto his “ Trunews” program yesterday to discuss attempts to resettle the millions of refugees from Syria’s civil war, but couldn’t get too far into the discussion before announcing that someone “orchestrated” the refugee crisis in order to destroy “the existing order.”
The refugee crisis, along with the “contrived, orchestrated, choreographed crisis” of unaccompanied Central American children fleeing to the southern U.S. border last year, he said, must be part of a grand plot run by “somebody with a lot of money.”
“I am convinced all of this is orchestrated,” he said. “Somebody with a lot of money wants a chaotic scene in the world, they want mass migration. It’s breaking down borders, sovereignty, culture, it’s destroying the existing order.”
Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies, who was making her second appearance on Wiles’ program, responded cautiously, saying, “Well, I don’t know if it’s orchestrated, but it is obvious that there are organizations with an ideological agenda who are certainly taking advantage of it to push their political and ideological aims.”
Refugee Resettlement Watch’s Ann Corcoran seemed more willing to embrace Wiles’ theory, saying, “I hope someday we will find out who it is behind this and who these powers are” but that in the meantime, she agrees with Vaughan.
Wiles declared that America is on the brink of destruction because its policymakers have embraced sin and persecuted people like Kim Davis. In retaliation, he said, God will send an "invading army" — possibly the "millions of Muslims" that President Obama "wants to bring into this country" — to conquer the U.S.
"We have institutionalized America's rebellion against God, it's now the law of the land and if you oppose it you are the criminal in this new paradigm," he said. "Now God's people are going to be punished for obeying God, as we saw with Kim Davis and we're going to see with a lot of people who are going to stand up and say, 'I will not disobey God,' and then they're going to say, 'Then you're going to go to prison, you're going to lose your job, you're going to lose your business.'"
Wiles added that eventually "there will be an invading army that will spew these people out of this land, this country will cease to exist as it has been for 300 years, there will be another race of people here, living in our houses, using our resources, dwelling in our cities, there will be another race of people here."
On Monday, "Trunews" host Rick Wiles sounded off against President Obama's Columbus Day proclamation, incensed that the president would dare mention how Columbus' expedition affected American Indians.
"The reason Barack Obama can't celebrate Columbus Day as a normal, patriotic American citizen," Wiles reasoned, is because "Christopher Columbus was a white, European, Italian. Mr. Obama is a racist. He is the most racist man ever to occupy the White House."
Wiles went on to claim that Obama also dislikes Columbus due to the explorer's Christian faith and "because Columbus knew that America would play a role in the war with Islam in the Last Days, and Mr. Obama is a Muslim jihadist. Mr. Obama is carrying out jihad against America."
Last month, “Trunews” host Rick Wiles interviewed fellow Religious Right activist Bradlee Dean about how God was sending Hurricane Joaquin to strike cities like New York or Washington, D.C., as divine wrath for government funding of Planned Parenthood. Of course, despite their predictions, Hurricane Joaquin ended up steering away from those cities.
He said that there would be a “window of extreme danger” in the financial system between September 13 and October 9, when there would be a major “financial plunge of the Dow Jones stock index, possibly thirty percent or more.”
It turns out that this prediction also didn’t materialize, as the Dow Jones actually went up in this “window of extreme danger.”
In an interview with far-right radio host Rick Wiles on Tuesday, Family Research Council Vice President Jerry Boykin blamed President Obama and his supporters for the recent mass shooting in Oregon and then suggested that we at Right Wing Watch encourage “lone wolf” attacks on Christians “using the exact same tactics” as ISIS and Al Qaeda.
Wiles spoke with Boykin about the massacre following a monologue in which the conspiracy-theory-minded radio host suggested that the shooting at Umpqua Community College was “staged” by a government “death squad” seeking to “build public support for disarming the American people of their firearms.”
While reports are mixed as to whether the Oregon shooter targeted Christians, Boykin portrayed him as a man who was inspired by the Obama administration’s purportedly anti-Christian policies.
“Right here in America, the church, the Christian church, has been so demonized and denigrated by the current administration and those that support this administration that I think that you have to expect this because there are enough crazies out there that when you constantly hammer the U.S. Christian church, you have to expect that there is going to be some reaction and that’s what we’re seeing,” Boykin said.
“I can tell you that this is the fight of the future,” he added. “It’s not just about having to bake a cake or take photographs for a gay wedding, this is about literally about life and death for Christians in the future. It’s coming.”
Wiles then suggested that the shooter may have been inspired by reading Right Wing Watch, leading Boykin to claim that we use the “exact same tactics” as the Islamic State and Al Qaeda to encourage “lone wolf” attacks against Christians.
Wiles said that he wouldn’t be surprised if the shooter — who identified himself on a dating website as “conservative, Republican” and wrote about “his racial animus toward black people and general feelings of anger about being isolated and unable to make relationships” — was “a frequent visitor to Right Wing Watch.”
Boykin, for his part, said that Right Wing Watch and the Southern Poverty Law Center are “ultraliberal, anti-Christian and anti-American organizations,” adding that Right Wing Watch was established by the “Soros, anti-American, Marxist entity that is also anti-Christian” People For the American Way.
But they did have some good words for us: Boykin commended us for our accuracy, saying that we “actually in many cases print exactly what we said” and Wiles added, “They’ve never misquoted me, I’m not going to say that they misquote me but they definitely want to paint an image of people like you and I as dangerous wackos.”
“This is the tactics of Al Qaeda and ISIS,” Boykin added, “where they will call for people to take action against Western targets, against Christians and infidels and then these so-called lone wolfs will go out and perpetrate an act of violence which normally results in somebody’s death. So what we’ve got is we’ve got Right Wing Watch and Southern Poverty Law Center and People For the American Way all using the exact same tactics as these Middle East terrorist groups, as these Islamic extremist groups. It’s sad that that kind of thing happens in America. There is no dialogue. There is no debate. They are going to try and shut us down by striking fear into our heart.”
“Trunews” host Rick Wiles spoke with fellow Religious Right pundit Bradlee Dean last Thursday about the GOP’s attempt to deny federal funding to Planned Parenthood, with Wiles suggesting that the failure to defund the women’s health organization would cause God to punish America by directing Hurricane Joaquin towards New York.
“Congress will refuse to defund Planned Parenthood but God will defund the United States,” Wiles said. “Get ready, the big attitude adjustment is coming. And if you still have money invested in stocks, I think you’re down to a few days to get it out. There’s a potential Category 4 hurricane moving towards New York City, Joaquin, ‘God will judge.’”
“There’s a hurricane moving through the Atlantic today, Joaquin,” he said later in the interview. “Joaquin means, ‘God will judge.’ It appears that it’s going to be a Category 4, perhaps by the time this radio program is heard tonight across America it will be a Category 4, it’s headed towards somewhere between Washington, D.C., and New York City. Is anybody other than me putting this together that there is a hurricane named ‘God will judge’ headed towards New York City?”
Wiles and Dean also used the interview to criticize Planned Parenthood over false claims that the group sells fetal tissue for profit, with Wiles declaring that Planned Parenthood officials “should be in handcuffs right now” and “making license plates in a prison.”
“There ought to be state police raids in every state,” he said. “They’re killing babies, they’re chopping babies up. This is worse than the Nazis did in Germany.”
“I talked to Troy just a couple of weeks ago,” he added, “and to show you the totalitarian, authoritarian government in which we are dealing with which is un-American today, in the people’s White House, people need to understand that Loretta Lynch just brought forth a lawsuit against Troy Newman and those that actually produced the video of Planned Parenthood self-incriminating themselves concerning their crimes against the innocent in the womb.”
While we are unaware of any Justice Department action taken against Troy Newman and the CMP, Dean said that the failure to defund Planned Parenthood means that “judgment is on its way.”
RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.
While some conservatives are using the latest mass shooting as an opportunity to offer warnings about government conspiracies and Nazi tyranny coming to America, Religious Right activists continue to harp on old memes about government persecution and the dangers of LGBT rights.
5) The Black Underwear Prophecy
Televangelist Jim Bakker often invites his guests to offer their “prophetic” view of current events, like the California drought (a good thing!) and Jade Helm 15 (a bad thing!).
But sometimes, Bakker delves into prophecy of his own, like when he predicted that the U.S. would experience a massive financial crash or get hit with devastating natural disasters on September 13 of this year.
Of course, neither prayer nor the Bible are outlawed in schools, but the myth survives, with the help of a steady stream of debunkedstories about school officials disciplining students for praying over their lunches.
This week, Focus on the Family held its an annual “Bring Your Bible To School Day,” telling participants about a case in Broward County, Florida, where a student was allegedly banned from reading the Bible.
As Sarah Jones points out, “facts don’t appear to matter to Focus on the Family.” In reality, the student in question wasn’t disciplined for reading his Bible, but because he refused to read an assigned book. “The Broward School District claimed it was told Giovanni was reading the Bible when he should have been reading an assigned book, not during free-reading time,” CBS News reported. “The district stressed that any student may read the Bible, or any other religious book, during free time.”
3) Another Discredited Fox Report
Speaking of fabricated stories, Fox News recently jumped on an incident where a woman claimed that she was “kicked out of a sporting goods store after alerting a manager that a man had frightened her young daughter in the women's restroom.”
Naturally, Fox’s report used the claim to both knock the retailer, REI, and to demonize trans rights.
Seeing that the allegation came from the Pacific Justice Institute, a group that has pushed similar stories that have ended up on Fox News before being debunked, it came as no surprise when REI reported that after “reviewing relevant video footage,” it “found no evidence to suggest that a man entered the women’s restroom on the date in question” and also found no evidence that the customer was kicked out of the store.
But something tells us that this story will continue to percolate through the right-wing media, even after being exposed as false.
2)High Alert For Hitler
Ben Carson wants Americans to know that the stage is set for the rise of an Adolf Hitler-like leader in the U.S. as a result of the “control of thought and control of speech,” which he says is destroying this country.
He also sounded off on measures to prevent gun violence, claiming that Hitler and other tyrants only were able to carry out their actions because people didn’t have firearms, a notion rejectedbyresearchers who have actually studied such dictatorial regimes.
Right-wing commentators have been stepping over each other in the last week trying to havetheworstpossiblereaction to the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon, but the response from End Times broadcaster Rick Wiles truly was in a class of its own.
The “Trunews” host suggested that the shooting was actually the work of a “secret death squad” that goes around “this country staging mass shootings in order to build public support for disarming the American people of their firearms.”
As evidence, he cited “the mysterious appearance of similar looking persons at the scenes of recent mass shooting,” a claim he likely picked up from an online meme that merely shows four women with brown hair in tears.
On yesterday’s edition of “Trunews,” conservative radio host Rick Wiles had a just asking the question monologue about the Umpqua Community College shooting in Oregon.
Wiles, who regularly hosts Republican and Religious Right leaders onto his show and spoke with Family Research Council Executive Vice president Jerry Boykin later in the same program, latched onto the “crisis actor” conspiracy theory that has been roundly discredited to suggest that the Oregon mass shooting, along with those in Newtown, Connecticut, and Aurora, Colorado, were staged by government “death squads” in order to justify gun confiscation laws.
Several members of the ‘Trunews’ team and I were talking this morning in the office about the mysterious appearance of similar looking persons at the scenes of recent mass shootings. Could they be the same people? Could they be paid crisis actors and actresses? Is there a secret death squad at work in this country staging mass shootings in order to build public support for disarming the American people of their firearms? Are we living in the matrix of deception? Is it becoming increasingly difficult to discern what is real and what is fake? Are news events being manufactured for political purposes?
As the myth-busting website Snopes points out, conspiracy theorists have taken photos of brown-haired women grieving over news of a lost family member as proof that the massacres were some sort of government plot.
A popular meme that emerged following the Newtown shooting, Snopes reports, “was altered to include what was purportedly yet another appearance by the ‘same girl’ seen previously crying in photos from Aurora, Boston, and Sandy Hook. (Presumably, the high-level false flag planners didn’t have access to social media and remained unaware their schemes had been unraveled and revealed months earlier)…. All four women depicted were identified by name at the time they were photographed [and] none was transient to the tragedies with which they were associated or disappeared afterwards.”
Wiles went on to attack President Obama as a “Muslim jihadist” who was “clandestinely placed in the White House by foreign powers to dismantle the United States of America.”
