American Family Association official Sandy Rios claimed on her radio program yesterday that women who have had an abortion end up either “brokenhearted” and suffering “tremendous guilt” or get “hard as nails” and become “mean and evil and angry.”
Rios, who made the comments while promoting rallies protesting Planned Parenthood, concluded that this is because women who have had an abortion have “violated the very core of who they are as women, and that is mothers, mothers who give life.”
The right-wing response to the Supreme Court’s marriage equality decision has been, quite literally, apocalyptic.
It’s only been five days since the court issued its ruling, but conservative pundits have already predicted that gay marriage will ultimately be responsible for natural disasters, terrorist attacks and the destruction of freedom.
While there haven’t been any terrorist attacks against the U.S. since the court’s ruling, whenever there are, anti-LGBT activists will know who to blame: gay people who want to get married.
“They have thumbed their nose at God’s design for man, a man and a woman designed from the beginning of time and creation, and it will not, it will not stand,” she added. “While we’re under such terrible terror threats, you know, our protections have been lifted and that’s what they don’t understand.”
Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, also warned that “God’s hand of protection will be withdrawn as future actions from external and internal forces will soon make clear. I will do all I can to prevent such harm, but I am gravely fearful that the stage has now been set.”
“America’s elite leadership have taken the side of the enemies of God, and He will take notice,” WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah warned, claiming that such divine judgment “could come in the form of an attack on our country from foreign power or terrorist group.”
Rick Wiles, host of the End Times radio program “Trunews,” similarly predicted that God will now “lift His hand of protection from this nation” and “permit America’s enemies to attack this nation.”
Cliff Kincaid of the conservative group Accuracy in Media was a little more tame in his reasoning but came to the same conclusion: “A country that descends to the bottom of the barrel morally and culturally will not be able to defend itself against its foreign adversaries and enemies. Indeed, we have the evidence all around us that, as the culture has degenerated, our ability to defend ourselves has simultaneously been weakened.”
2)Forced gay sex
The right-wing warnings of “forced homosexuality” are now coming true, at least according to one pastor. Tim Brooks of the Christian Ministries Church told one conservative radio program that gay people, just like the men of Sodom who tried to rape angelic visitors, “are trying to force their lifestyle on him, come out and have sex with us, have to participate.”
Record-breaking floods have inundated Washington, D.C. just days after the Supreme Court decided they knew better than God. I seem to remember another time in history when there was a record-breaking flood.
God painted the sky with rainbow colors after that flood. This go-around - Obama painted the White House with rainbow colors.
Anybody got an ark?
Heavy rain may not be the only result of same-sex marriage (besides equal marriage rights for gay people), as some Religious Right pundits also believe that divine wrath will come in the form of food shortages and drought.
Wiles warned that “God will cut off America’s food supply and this nation will be hit with disease, pestilence, drought, natural calamities and a great shaking.”
“Nothing grabs the attention of the distracted faster than the complete removal of all creature comforts and extravagant wealth,” Christian Post columnist Michael Bresciani said. “Crops will fail, stores will close and commerce will come almost to a complete stop. It will not be pretty. Add to that, attacks from our enemies and natural disasters rising to meet the pride of the sinners’ right where it hurts the most.”
Five years ago, Religious Right leaders confidently predicted that prison cells and court rooms would fill up with pastors after the passage of the 2009 Hate Crimes Act. Of course, such events never occurred, but now the same anti-LGBT activists are making the samefalseclaims about the supposed consequences of same-sex marriage.
“Pastors who refuse to perform gay marriage and preach from the Bible should prepare for hate crime charges,” Starnes said. “All dissent will be silenced.”
Richard Land, a former leader of the Southern Baptist Convention’s political arm, was a little more cautious, explaining that pastors will indeed face prison if they refuse to officiate same-sex couple’s weddings, but only after the government takes a few “intermediate steps.”
Just days prior to the Supreme Court’s marriage ruling, Glenn Beck said that if the court were to decide in favor of same-sex couples, then the Bible would be outlawed as a “hate book.” Just hours after the decision came down, Beck offered another dire warning: He will lose his show.
“This could mean the end of radio broadcasts like mine,” Beck said, insisting that he will be taken off the air simply because he is “for traditional marriage.”
7)Taking kids from their parents
Chicago-based pastor Erwin Lutzer believes that parents who oppose same-sex marriage may lose custody of their children following the Supreme Court’s marriage ruling, predicting that “parents that homeschool children, religious parents, will be diagnosed as culturally intolerant and personality intolerant. And therefore, as a result, their children will be taken away from them.”
Rios, the AFA official, even warned that children may be forced to spy on their parents like in the Soviet Union.
8)This means war
Conservative legal activist Larry Klayman denounced the marriage equality ruling as a “harbinger to revolution,” urging Americans to take to rebellion like the Founding Fathers did.
“If evil despots have compromised even our Supreme Court, the ultimate protector and ‘decider’ of our rights, then what choice is left to us?” Klayman asked. “John Adams, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin certainly know, from their own experience with King George, and from their graves they see what now again lies ahead and what must be done to restore freedom to our shores.”
One conservative pundit, Bill Muehlenberg, told readers that “a major proper response for Christians and others” to the Supreme Court’s ruling “is massive civil disobedience and defiance of this homo-fascist decision.”
9)Pedophilia now legal
Former House GOP Majority Leader Tom DeLay, who promised that “all hell is going to break loose” if the Supreme Court decided to strike down state bans on same-sex marriage, declared that he has uncovered a “secret memo” from the Department of Justice that reveals plans to legalize “having sex with little boys,” along with bestiality and polygamy.
The website run by West, the former congressman, even claimed that pedophilia supporters celebrated the Friday ruling. As the myth-busting website Snopes notes, the blog post on West’s site was “lifted almost entirely from an article published in 2011 and in no way reflected a claim prompted by a June 2015 Supreme Court decision regarding same-sex marriage.” They add that the 2011 story “originated with a writer who has been asserting for years (less than accurately) that the push for gay rights is manifestly setting the stage for legalized ‘pedophilia rights.’”
Perhaps the blog post’s author received this news from David Barton, the right-wing pseudo-historian who just days before the court issued its ruling alleged, falsely, that pedophilia became “legally protected” following the passage of the 2009 Hate Crimes Act.
10)Criminalization of Christianity
The most prominent claim coming from the Religious Right in response to the Supreme Court’s decision has been what Family Research Council President Tony Perkins has called the government attempt to “eliminate” religious beliefs that oppose gay rights.
“In one appalling decision, the Supreme Court has effectively opened the door to the criminalization of Christianity when it comes to the marriage issue ... and not just Christianity, but every major religion that supports God’s model for marriage and family,” warned Penny Nance of Concerned Women for America.
Right-wing pundit Matt Barber made a similar claim: “The goal of ‘LGBT’ activists and secular progressives has long been to pit the government directly against the free exercise of religion – Christianity in particular – and to silence all dissent.”
One FRC official, Craig James, said that conservatives who oppose the same-sex marriage decision should respond to the coming persecution and ridicule “in love” … just like the families of the Charleston massacre.
In a discussion yesterday on American Family Radio’s “Sandy Rios in the Morning,” Rios and anti-gay pastor Erwin Lutzer warned that marriage equality will turn American into the Soviet Union as children in public schools who embrace “sexual confusion” will become informants on their parents who will eventually be carted off by the government.
Lutzer argued that with the rise of gay rights, children are “being indoctrinated in ways” equivalent to “Russia of years ago.” Because of this, “parents need to take that responsibility” to overcome “huge barriers” and “ultimate destruction” as “these children are gonna take their own sexual confusion into their families and into their relationships and it’s just going to exponentially multiply. The challenge is absolutely huge.”
“It is huge,” agreed Rios. The prospect of sexual confusion also reminded Rios of “the old Soviet Union,” where children were “indoctrinated all day at school and then they go home and their parents can only whisper their true beliefs to the kids. And then the kids were asked to tattle, to report their parents if they were teaching anything other than what the state was teaching. And so, parental influence dwindled.” Fearing this Orwellian future for America, Rios warned that after the breakup of the Soviet Union, “the only reason people still knew about God was because their grandmothers had told them about God.”
“We’re going to be at war with our government and with culture around us,” Rios continued, “and our children are going to be so delusional – they already are – in culture that it’s going to create a huge line between us and our children. And it’s gonna be tough, tough.”
Arguing for the need for private schooling and homeschooling, Lutzer claimed public schools “are going to be deliberately so confused on this issue that it would be impossible, really, for a Christian child to go through a school without being infected by the terrible teachings that that child is going to receive.”
Recalling an article he had read years ago, Lutzer discussed the existence of “intolerant personality disorder,” and argued that “it’s not beyond reason to think that the time will come when parents that homeschool children, religious parents, will be diagnosed as culturally intolerant and personality intolerant. And therefore, as a result, their children will be taken away from them.”
Rios thought this was “certainly within the realm of possibility” because “we already know that this has been happening for a long time” with diversity training for corporate employees or, as she called them, “reeducation camps.”
“God is bringing judgement to the nation and ushering about the end of all things, really,” Rios concluded.
American Family Association official Sandy Rios warned on her radio program yesterday that the Obama administration’s decision to light up the White House in rainbow colors in celebration of the Supreme Court’s marriage equality decision was “an unbelievable affront to God” that will have “consequences.” According to Rios, God will lift His hand of protection from America in response to the court’s ruling and the celebratory rainbow images, thereby increasing the threat of terror attacks on the United States.
The rainbow, she said, “was God’s sign to mankind that he would never destroy the earth again by flood,” so if “you take his symbol and you use it for a sign of sexual behavior that is ungodly, unallowed,” it will have “some consequence.”
“My grief is for you, because you don’t understand what you just did. You don’t understand,” she told gay rights activists. “Again, now, to get more practical about this, the terror threat against this nation has gone up exponentially.”
Citing warnings about possible terrorist attacks in America over the July 4th weekend, Rios declared that, to make matters worse, “it is Ramadan.” Unlike Christians, whom Rios claimed understand the true meaning of the word ‘holy,’ Muslims use the holy month of Ramadan to “fast so that [they] can murder people,” she said.
Rios then pivoted to address gay rights activists, telling them that when you “ignore God” you “do away with his protection,” which is “why we fear for the country and we fear for you too.”
Meanwhile, she said, American Christians have “entered a new era” of persecution where they will be “like believers in Iran and Syria” or “first-century Rome, pagan Rome, China most recently, Russia before the breakup of the Soviet Union. We are entering a time of living in a hostile culture.”
“We’re gonna see a lot of things change,” warned Rios, “and those of you that stay strong in your personal convictions, you’re gonna have trouble at work, you may lose your jobs. This is a new era, so it’s not for the faint of heart.”
Religious Right legal activist Michael Farris joined Rios later on the program, telling her that after the marriage decision, “I really feel like I’m a stranger living in a strange land. They’ve stolen America from us, and they’ve stolen our heritage and they’ve stolen everything by a five-to-four vote.”
“I don’t think that’s an overstatement,” responded Rios. “The people that won on Friday don’t understand that they have lost terribly. We’ve lost protections of God for this country. We have thumbed our nose at him using his symbol, the rainbow, which was a personal, sacred symbol that he gave to a sign to earth that he would not destroy it again. They have thumbed their nose a God’s design for man, a man and a woman designed from the beginning of time and creation, and it will not, it will not stand. While we’re under such terrible terror threats, you know, our protections have been lifted and that’s what they don’t understand. And they are in the same boat that we’re in so it’s a — it is a sad day for America.”
Last week on “Sandy Rios in the Morning,” National Center for Policy Analysis president and former GOP congressman Allen West said that he supported South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley’s call to remove the Confederate flag from state capitol grounds. However, West denounced liberals who also called for the flag’s removal, joining Rios in comparing them to extremist groups like ISIS and the Taliban that have destroyed historical monuments.
“There is a seeming collusion between liberal progressive socialists and Islamofascists,” West said.
That the magazine Rolling Stone used a photo of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on its cover…for an article about Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
West continued: “The left has to be held accountable for the things that they’re doing and their hypocrisy has to be brought out. The Taliban destroyed the shrines and the statues of Bamyan provinces; ISIS has gone around destroying the artifacts there and religious shrines and memorials in Mosul and also Palmyra; and now we have the left in the United States of America defacing memorials and part of our history. So there’s a very interesting, I don’t want to say commonality, but it is something to be said about how these individuals want to erase history.”
American Family Association official Sandy Rios, speaking on her radio program last week, accused President Obama of “using” the Charleston church massacre “to try to whip people into an emotional frenzy about disarming the American people.”
Rios, who previously said that Obama “enjoyed” the shooting because it offered him an opportunity to “remove guns from the hands of the American people,” told a caller that the president is “dangerous” and “stirred a lot of this unrest up.”
She said that not only has Obama “made racial tensions much worse,” but he has also released tens of thousands of immigrant “murderers” and “robbers” onto “our streets.”
Rios also spoke to a caller who claimed that the Sandy Hook and Aurora massacres were false flag events designed give the government “another reason to get the guns,” blaming the Aurora movie theatre shooting on a government “mind control program” that peddled “reuptake inhibitors.”
“Mao did it, Lenin did it, Stalin did it, Hitler did it, Pol Pot did it, when they take the guns, it’s over,” he said.
Rios responded that “everything you said was true, I don’t know about the inhibitor part, but certainly what Mao did with the guns and the whole move to remove our ability to protect ourselves and that it is the only thing standing between us and tyranny.”
Sandy Rios, the American Family Association’s director of governmental affairs, attacked President Obama today for his response to the Charleston shooting, which she said is proof that he “enjoys” such incidents because it will give him another chance to “remove guns from the hands of the American people.”
Unlike the family members of the victims who offered messages of forgiveness, Rios said, “there are other people who seem to respond and fester and enjoy these problems and make the most of them, and I would include president of the United States, this of course he took as an opportunity to lay out his passion against allowing American people to carry guns.”
She accused Obama of “rushing” to link the shooting to weak gun laws, adding that “all the tragedies remind him that he wants to stop American people from having guns.”
Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, spoke to American Family Association’s Sandy Rios on her talk show “Sandy Rios in the Morning” this week about the danger of growing support for gay rights within the conservative movement.
Rios began the segment by discussing her concern regarding Guy Benson, a conservative commentator for the Salem Media Group-owned Townhall.com who recently came out as gay in a footnote to his new book, End of Discussion, coauthored by Mary Katharine Ham. Rios is not the only AFA affiliate to speak out against Benson, as American Family Radio’s Bryan Fischer also issued a statement calling for Benson’s replacement. Rios played a clip in which Megyn Kelly of Fox News tells Guy Benson on her show, “You are in a safe place here.”
Rios, who hired Benson to be the producer of her previous radio program, responded to Benson’s announcement by sharing that “when he came out last week it was a great shock to me, and very sad, very sad.” For Rios, “it’s not just a matter of Guy coming out; it’s that they’re coming out endorsing gay marriage. That’s not the main part of their book but it’s, it’s a huge part of their book. They’re both mainstream conservative voices.” Rios warned that “even though Guy smiles and is very sweet, I fear for the repercussions of this.”
“Guy Benson’s professed homosexuality is not a mere footnote, Sandy,” LaBarbera added. “And that’s the temptation of the new, I guess I’d call it soulless, conservatism.” LaBarbera explained that identifying as a gay Christian “makes no more sense, Sandy, than someone being a so-called porn-using Christian, or substitute any other sexual sin, and that doesn’t make a positive identity.”
“And yet,” bemoaned LaBarbera, “look what Megyn Kelly says. She says ‘you’re so brave.’ Why is it brave? You can tell there’s an approving tone when you watch the interview. It’s just bizarre that we’ve come to this point that somebody professes homosexuality and a quote ‘gay’ identity, which puts a really sort of nice face on it, is brave and that’s a sign of being honest, when actually it’s merely publicly embracing a sin.”
Rios, seemingly personally offended by Kelly’s “safe place” remark, responded, “Where did that, I mean, what could have been unsafe? I mean, Guy worked with me for years, and he’s still, he may not be happy with me discussing this publicly, but he would not be surprised, and certainly when he was working with me he was in a safe place. My love for him has not changed, but I am grieved to the bone, that he is, that this is an issue in his life.”
Rios added that she felt compelled to speak because, from her perspective, Benson’s coming out will have “detrimental, terribly detrimental effects on what it means to be a Christian conservative because it muddies the lines. And it’s also, if Salem does not care about this, Salem the Christian communications company, and if Heritage, who is fighting gay marriage, doesn’t care that they’re premiering a book that, you know, the authors, Mary Kathrine Ham has her own big following, are supportive of gay marriage, the lines are just being erased.”
Rios, still reeling from her grief, said, “Surely he must know that if the Supreme Court comes out and legalizes gay marriage all over the country people will be breaking the law if they oppose it in any way. So, uh, the normally clear-thinking guy is not thinking clearly, and neither is Megyn.”
“Yeah. I agree with you,” LaBarbera responded. “He also came out for nondiscrimination laws in the BuzzFeed article and those laws have been the basis for the persecution of people who oppose homosexuality.”
Comparing Benson with the “small number of openly homosexual people” who are against marriage equality, LaBarbera said that by embracing LGBT equality, Benson has joined a “radical” and “revolutionary” movement that “is all about normalizing homosexuality.”
“He says he’s standing on the shoulders of gay activists,” LaBarbera said, “and when I saw that I was like, ‘Well, which ones?’ Are you standing on the shoulders of the 1970s gay activists who scream in politicians’ faces? What about the homosexuals who will harass people, harass the psychologists to have them supposedly normalize homosexuality in the APA, the American Psychiatric Association, the direct-action homosexuals who use far-left techniques? I know he said he’s not with the far left, but, I mean Sandy, this is a movement that is all about normalizing homosexuality. That was a radical, a revolutionary goal. So which homosexual activist is Guy Benson standing on? That’s kind of troubling to me.”
On her radio program yesterday, Sandy Rios of the American Family Association said that Josh Duggar and Dennis Hastert, who have both been accused of sexually abusing minors, are the victims of a conspiracy against conservatives.
“What he did was wrong but I think maybe even the verbiage in describing it doesn’t describe the actual thing that happened,” she said of Josh Duggar. “It does seem very much to me that they are again the subject of targeting in order to completely destroy the family, it’s just an amazing thing.”
She added: “Something should go off in someone’s head about the way in which conservatives, social conservatives, are being systematically targeted. It’s going to happen and it’s been happening for a very long time.”
Rios also said that Duggar’s record was “leaked illegally,” when in fact his records werelegallyobtained.
“This is the kind of thing that is going to be happening to conservatives, just think of the Denny Hastert situation,” she said, citing the Duggar and Hastert abuse scandals as reasons that conservatives, whom she suggested are the targets of government surveillance, should oppose measures like the PATRIOT Act and the USA Freedom Act.
When Guy Benson of the conservative outlet Townhall publicly came out as gay, it was only a matter of time before American Family Radio’s Bryan Fischer issued a statement claiming that “Benson must be replaced” since he, as a prominent gay conservative, is “particularly dangerous to the conservative cause.”
Today, Sandy Rios, the American Family Association’s director of governmental affairs, told the AFA’s news service OneNewsNow that Benson’s presence at the upcoming Western Conservative Summit is “a serious problem” since he supports marriage equality, which she claims will lead to mass persecution “against Christians and social conservatives.”
A conservative activist and radio talk show host calls it troubling that an open homosexual will speak at an event featuring GOP presidential hopefuls.
Several GOP candidates will take part in the Western Conservative Summit 2015 scheduled for June 26-28 in Denver.
Also present at the Summit will be conservative author Guy Benson, the public editor at Townhall.com who recently revealed that he is homosexual and supports same-sex "marriage." Sandy Rios, director of governmental affairs at the American Family Association, calls it a mistake when social conservatives, especially Christians, embrace someone who supports gay "marriage."
"I think it's a serious problem," says Rios, "especially as we hurdle toward a Supreme Court decision where very likely the Supreme Court will decide against Christians and social conservatives, and very likely the persecution that will result from that decision will be exponential."
The schedule of events shows Benson is scheduled to appear at a Saturday luncheon to discuss the topic, "Why the Left wants to end discussion."
Rios says Benson is not the only summit participant with a problematical view of homosexuality. She says journalist Mary Katharine Ham also supports same-sex marriage and special rights for homosexuals.
Sandy Rios, the far-right host of American Family Radio’s “Sandy Rios in the Morning,” is unhappy with people expressing their happiness for Caitlyn Jenner. In fact, Rios laments that Jenner’s gender transition is “a human tragedy” and “probably one of the saddest stories on the news sites this week.”
Rios warned her listeners this morning that they would “see today, if you haven’t already, that the cover of Vanity Fair is the new Bruce Jenner, calling himself Caitlyn Jenner. It’s, uh, a photo spread done by Annie Leibovitz, who’s a very famous photographer.”
This sentiment, as well as the inability to use the correct pronouns, was echoed by evangelist Franklin Graham, who took to Facebook today to critique Vanity Fair’s coverage of Jenner, claiming that “the author talks as if Bruce and his newly chosen identity of ‘Caitlyn’ are two separate people. Bruce’s son Burt said, ‘I have high hopes that Caitlyn is a better person than Bruce.’ The article also says Jenner openly acknowledges mistakes made with his children as Bruce, ‘and expresses genuine regret.’”
But Graham has “news for them,” insisting that “changing the outside doesn’t change the inside. No man-made modification can fix what’s wrong with the heart. Only God can fix the human heart. If we ask for His forgiveness and accept by faith His Son, Jesus Christ, He will wipe the slate clean. The Bible says, ‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new’ (2 Corinthians 5:17).”
In Vanity Fair’s cover story about Bruce Jenner’s gender change, the author talks as if Bruce and his newly chosen...
Sandy Rios, the American Family Association’s director of governmental affairs, defended Dennis Hastert on her radio program today, wondering if the former House speaker’s indictment in an alleged scheme to cover up a sexual abuse scandal was “political payback” for his time in Congress.
Insisting that she was not defending Hastert’s alleged actions, Rios said that the FBI should instead be focused on prosecuting Bill and Hillary Clinton in the phony Clinton Foundation scandal. She added that she is just asking the question as to whether Hastert is the victim of “political payback” for his time as a Republican leader in Congress.
“I have to ask if this is political payback, you have to ask that,” Rios said, before comparing Hastert’s prosecution to the “outing” of politicians who vote against gay rights bills, saying: “The Right generally doesn’t out people, I’m not saying they never do but it’s usually the Left that does it, there was a whole squad of gay activists who outed closeted gay men who were not voting the way they thought they should, probably ten years ago it was very actively done…. You just wonder if this was about justice or if this was about ruining the man.”
On her radio program Friday, the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios predicted that God will send a “major shift or disaster” to punish the world for gay marriage.
Rios was responding to social media comments from an LGBT rights supporter named Peter, who pointed out that none of the countries that have legalized marriage equality have yet fallen to ruin because of it.
“There are some effects already early on, there are here in this country as well,” Rios responded. “But it’s too early to see any kind of major shift or disaster that I think most of us who believe that God’s word is true are predicting for the whole world, really, Peter, for the whole world. For God will not let us just continue to be debauched and ignore him.”
Rios also responded to “a very good point” that Peter made about “the sanctity of marriage and the divorce rate.”
She explained that while “God does hate divorce” it is “not a sin” and it is allowed under some circumstances. “But gay marriage is never allowed,” she said. “Gay marriage is a subject of a whole different matter, and it strikes at God and his design for man, creating male and female from the very beginning, giving women to man at the very beginning.”
On her radio program this morning, the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios got to talking about comments that liberals leave on her Facebook page, which she says she doesn’t mind because she knows that “this is a spiritual battle” and her critics don’t “understand who it is that they serve,” which is Satan and the “spiritual forces of darkness.”
“This is a spiritual battle and I don’t think people understand who they’ve signed up to serve, and it’s not God,” she said.
Rios then read an email from a listener who said, “Liberals don’t seem to be outraged about radical Islam but they hate Christianity. The only thing that I can figure is evil likes evil.”
“Yep,” Rios responded, “well, they have the same root, the same father, and that’s Satan himself.
After saying on her radio program today that President Obama has “pushed things so far back” in terms of race relations, the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios told a man who called in to challenge her statement that the media had made him an “angry black man” in its efforts to “whip the black community into a frenzy” over police shootings.
Rios wholeheartedly agreed with Lewis, saying that President Obama and former Attorney General Eric Holder “have pushed things so far back” in terms of race relations. “I hate that," she said. “I hate what it’s done to race relations. I hate that. It’s divisive. And that’s what the president’s all about, is dividing people by race, color, sex, it’s just amazing to me.”
Later in the program, a listener who identified himself as Charles from Columbus, Ohio, called in to challenge Rios on the point, citing the recent acquittal of a police officer in the shooting deaths of an unarmed black couple in Cleveland. “Unfortunately, sisters and brothers like yourselves and others just don’t get it as it pertains to basically to black America and the history of black America with regards to America,” he told Rios. “I get so discouraged when I hear you guys talk about the current situation with policing and black America.”
Rios told Charles that he was being duped by “people who want to whip the black community in a frenzy by misrepresenting facts” on police shootings, saying that he has to be careful with the facts just as the Right does in talking about Jade Helm 15 and other anti-Obama conspiracy theories (something that Rios herself does not exactly do).
“You do understand, Charles, that there are people who want to whip the black community into a frenzy by misrepresenting facts?” she asked. “You know, I was just the object of this, I have just been — people have been whipped into a frenzy over statements that I made about the train conductor. And what they’re saying is, they take a lot of what I said and twist it, and then it goes like a house afire. So I know how this works. Maybe you don’t. But I tell you there are people that benefit from twisting the story ever so slightly to get you whipped into a rage.”
“Look, ABC doesn’t care about giving you the whole story, neither does CBS, because they want you to be an angry black man,” she said. “Do you understand that?”
Today on “Sandy Rios in the Morning,” Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, said that the Obama administration’s prosecution of senior FIFA officials and investigations into law enforcement misconduct show that the administration is ignoring the threat of terrorism.
“We know with Nero, he allegedly fiddled while Rome burned,” Gohmert said. “America is being destroyed from within and instead of fiddling, this administration is going after people that don’t really make any difference to the ongoing of a free republic. It’s tragic.”
The Texas Republican criticized the Justice Department for “going after police forces all over the country,” adding: “This Department of Justice couldn’t find their rear end with both hands and yet they’re out there telling everybody else how they have to act.”
“This administration has coddled racism, reverse racism, all kinds of problems and discrimination against women,” Gohmert continued.
He also claimed that the administration is targeting “fantastic patriots” who “say this administration is allowing radicalized Islamists to get away with murder.”
“They will not go after the radicalized murderers, the potential radicalized murderers or the terrorists being led into the country. No, they will come after you,” he said.
Sandy Rios, the governmental affairs director of the American Family Association, is in the camp that President Obama maybeasecret Muslim, and today on her radio program she claimed that he is helping Islamists win power in the Middle East.
“I think American people need to know: Our government is working against us in every single, it seems, situation,” she said.
“There is a plan, it always turns out to favor the Islamists, whatever the plan,” Rios said, claiming that U.S. intervention in Libya and supporting democracy in Egypt were moves intended to help Islamist groups.
“Maybe they just are overlooking things. You think? I don’t think so but you could say that, but we will look at their actions and their actions are absolutely disastrous.”
We will wait for Rios’ exposé about how the Bush administration invaded Iraq to help Al Qaeda and Iran.
Today on “Sandy Rios in the Morning,” Operation Save America’s Flip Benham said that the prevalence of violent crime and recent riots in cities such as Baltimore are part of God’s punishment for the legalization of abortion in the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision.
“There’s murder everywhere,” Benham said. “Just look in Baltimore and see what’s going on there, it’s just murder, it’s chaos, it’s anarchy. God is saying, ‘Listen, you shed the blood of the most innocent baby boy or girl, you go ahead and do that, that innocent blood has a voice that cries out to God.’ And we are now under the remedial judgments of God as a nation because of almost 60 million little baby boys and girls killed since January 22, 1973.”
He also spoke with Rios about the cancellation of a planned reality TV show starring his sons Jason and David Benham after their anti-LGBT political activism came to light. Benham said that his sons thought the show “was God’s answer” but that it was “all just taken away from them” after “Right Wing Watch [and] the homosexual community” reported on their extremist record.
“Yes they monitor the show, they’re listening now, hello Right Wing Watch,” Rios said. Benham added: “They and the homosexual community, I want so much for them to be free of that homosexual bondage, I want the very best for them.”
Rios agreed and claimed that gay people, who she “wants to be restored and whole,” are really at war with the “Creator of the Earth.”
Sandy Rios, the American Family Association’s governmental affairs director and host of “Sandy Rios in the Morning,” spoke with Fox News pundit Todd Starnes at yesterday’s “Watchmen on the Wall” conference about the supposed danger posed by the gay rights movement.
Rios declared that the newest frontier of the gay left is the Girl Scouts, who have “initiated a new transgender policy where little boys who think they’re little girls can now be in Girl Scouts.” Starnes was equally concerned with this new nondiscrimination rule, observing that “the indoctrination” from the gay left “is in every single thing.”
“It’s in television, schools, the Scouts,” he said. “It’s in many churches now…it’s just non-stop.”
Striking fear in the hearts of parents everywhere, Rios warned, “if you are slow to catch up with this, please remember your kids are not safe in the places that they join: the clubs, the schools, the homes they visit. These are dangerous times and you’re going to have to really step up and guard your children.”
She added that she has started confronting Girl Scouts who are selling cookies to tell them “what Girl Scouting is all about now.”
“Your kids are not safe in the places that they join, the clubs, the schools, the homes they visit,” Rios added. “These are dangerous times and you are going to have to have to really step up and guard your children.”
Rios explained that the “ultimate goal” of the “radical gay left” is to “deconstruct the family” by breaking down “every barrier when it comes to sexuality...so that we have absolute sexual chaos.” This is an undisputed truth that “goes way back to Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto,” she said.
Starnes concluded that “when you look at the overwhelming evidence out there, there is something afoot. There is something going on in the public school system where there is some sort of radical indoctrination underway. And it’s not just in the big cities. We’re looking at something happening like this in Bentonville, Arkansas. Small towns, big towns, North, South, it’s happening all over.”
Earlier this spring, the American Family Association led an unsuccessful campaign to demand that Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Elena Kagan recuse themselves from the marriage equality cases at the Supreme Court because they had officiated weddings for same-sex couples.
“We are living in lawless times where there really is no honor,” Rios said, “and for the left it’s the means to an end, you know the honorable thing to them is getting gay marriage legalized, it doesn’t matter how dishonorable they are in the process.”
