Paranoia-Rama: Gay Ebola And The Coming Anti-Obama Coup

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

While secretly plotting to use foreign forces to impose martial law on America, President Obama is also unleashing Ebola on Americans. Or maybe that’s just God punishing us for letting gay people be free. Either way, it may be too late for America because we all failed to listen to the wise words of Keith Ablow and Steve Stockman.

5) Gays To Blame For Ebola

It was only a matter of time before someone blamed the gays for Ebola, and North Carolina pastor Ron Baity was happy to be that brave person.

Back in 2012, Baity helped spearhead the campaign to pass a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage and civil unions in his state. When that ban was struck down by a federal court this week, Baity connected it with something else he was seeing in the news, predicting that God will punish America with the Ebola virus because of the fall of same-sex marriage bans and laws criminalizing homosexuality.

“We are bringing the judgment of God on this nation,” Baity said in a sermon captured by Jeremy Hooper. “As sure as Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed, don’t be surprised at the plagues, don’t be surprised at the judgment of God. You think Ebola is bad now? Just wait.”

4) Obama To Blame For Ebola Because He Hates America

Fox News therapist Keith Ablow believes he has the distinct ability to speak from “deep inside the president’s psyche.” And in that psyche, Ablow finds a bitter, racist man who wants to bring Ebola to America.

Eric Hananoki of Media Matters reports that during an appearance on Fox News Radio this week, Ablow reported that that while treating Obama over the TV, he discovered that the president hates America and “has it in for us.” According to Ablow, Obama’s “affinities” are with the people of Africa and he subsequently sees it is a matter of “fairness” that more Americans contract Ebola.

In his make-believe examination of Obama, it turns out Ablow also found a collection of right-wing memes from the 2012 election: “Let me speak as though I’m coming from deep inside the president’s psyche. You miserable people have destroyed so much in the world in terms of good things, and now you're going to build a wall? Really? To insulate yourself from things that are devastating other nations when your gains are ill-gotten? And the very fact that you can build a wall — you’re using wealth that you never should have had to build it. This is just another manifestation of you didn't build that, business. Right? You didn't build the right to make yourself immune from something that is devastating a country with lesser resources.”

Phyllis Schlafly also speculated this week that President Obama wants to bring Ebola to America to make the country more like Africa: “Obama doesn’t want America to believe that we’re exceptional. He wants us to be just like everybody else, and if Africa is suffering from Ebola, we ought to join the group and be suffering from it, too. That’s his attitude.”

3) Obama To Blame For Ebola Because He Hates Freedom

Rep. Steve Stockman thinks something is fishy about the U.S. response to the Ebola outbreak, and the Texas Republican is just going to put it out there that maybe Obama is sabotaging the government response because he wants the virus to spread, giving him an excuse to seize dictatorial power.

“It’s just bizarre there’s not enough action up front and I’m wondering if that’s — I’m not saying this — but I’m wondering if that’s intentional in order to create a greater crisis to use it as a blunt force to say, well in order to solve this crisis we’re going to have to take control of the economy and individuals and so forth,” the actual member of Congress told End Times soothsayer Rick Wiles. “It’s just a strange non-response, a strange way of handling it and I think that if it does go forward and we do not control it, there may be an overreaction where the government starts taking away the rights of those that aren’t that necessarily involved or need that to happen.”

After all, Stockman explained, “this current government uses crisis to advance their philosophy and their agenda” and Obama already gave himself the authority to exercise “emergency powers to take over control of the economy and everything.”

Stockman insisted that he was “not saying this,” just asking the question!

2) Why Hasn’t The Military Staged A Coup?

When a GOP official in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri, wrote a Facebook post this week asking why the military hasn’t yet staged a coup to overthrow the Obama administration, she made sure to use the “just asking the questionframing we see so frequently from conservative pundits and politicians who are trying to escape any responsibility for their statements.

Debbie Dunnegan Waters, Jefferson County’s recorder of deeds, an elected office, wrote on Facebook: “I have a question for all my friends who have served or are currently serving in our military … having not put on a uniform nor taken any type military oath [sic], there has to be something that I am just not aware of. But I cannot and do not understand why no action is being taken against our domestic enemy. I know he is supposedly the commander in chief, but the constitution gives you the authority. What am I missing?”

See, she wasn’t saying the military should overthrow Obama, just asking why it hadn’t.

“Something innocent and simple got twisted into a disaster because it’s an election,” she explained after her Facebook post attracted national attention. “I meant no ill intent toward the president. I meant no ill intent toward anybody.”

Well, that settles that!

1) Vets Must Prepare For A Coup!

Alex Jones knows why the military hasn’t staged a coup yet, and the answer may surprise you!

The “Infowars” host said on Wednesday that whenever he goes out and about, military service members and police officers keep approaching him to sing his praises and confirm his fears about fluoridated water, FEMA camps and Agenda 21.

While speaking with survivalist James Wesley Rawles on Wednesday, Jones reported that the government has been brainwashing service members with messages that “Christians are bad, gun owners are bad, the founding fathers were bad. It’s like something you’d expect to see in the Red Dawn movie when they show the reeducation camp at the sports stadium with the movie screens going ‘George Washington was a pig, gun owners are bad, capitalism is bad.’”

Fortunately, Jones thinks that as a result of his show getting the truth out there, such moves have turned the military against the government: “The propaganda of the people running things is so horrible it makes you think they’re inept because this is the stuff bad guys would tell the military. I think their attempt to demonize the liberty movement has totally backfired on them and is strategically one of the biggest defeats they’ve had.”

Rawles confirmed that service members “have woken up, they have done their homework, they can see what’s really going on and they are no longer falling for the lies the administration is trying to push,” thus thwarting Obama’s plans to impose martial law: “It’s very encouraging because if they ever tried to institute martial law, they’re not going to be able to do it with American troops, they’ll have to bring in overseas troops to try to institute martial law in this country because the American military is not going to put up with it.”

Even better, Rawles noted that once there is a “situation where there is a war of resistance in America,” then “all those returning veterans are going to form the core cadre of resistance.”

Jones, however, cautioned that the Hitlerian military now treats veterans as “enemy number one.”

GOP Congressman: Obama Wants Ebola To Spread So He Can 'Take Control' Of Everything

Rep. Steve Stockman yesterday chatted with End Times broadcaster Rick Wiles, telling the “Trunews” host that President Obama may be delaying the government response to the Ebola epidemic because he wants the virus to spread. Once it spreads, Stockman argued, Obama will use the Ebola outbreak as a justification to declare emergency powers.

The Texas Republican lawmaker insisted that was simply just asking the question: “It’s just bizarre there’s not enough action up front and I’m wondering if that’s — I’m not saying this — but I’m wondering if that’s intentional in order to create a greater crisis to use it as a blunt force to say, well in order to solve this crisis we’re going to have to take control of the economy and individuals and so forth.”

“It’s just a strange non-response, a strange way of handling it and I think that if it does go forward and we do not control it, there may be an overreaction where the government starts taking away the rights of those that aren’t that necessarily involved or need that to happen,” he said. “I hope that’s not that case, but as you know this current government uses crisis to advance their philosophy and their agenda.”

Stockman also raised long-discredited claims about an executive order that he said could lead to the president “using emergency powers to take over control of the economy and everything.”

Wiles was naturally receptive to the Texas congressman’s remarks, as he has previously alleged that Obama may intentionally infect soldiers with Ebola and use the outbreak to persecute Christians and “round up patriots.” Wiles also suggested that the epidemic may be a positive episode for the country since “Ebola could solve America’s problems with atheism, homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, pornography and abortion.”

Wiles: I assumed all these years that when we have a pandemic these emergency measures were going to be put into place right away and that’s why I’m really puzzled by the ineptness, the slowness of what’s taking place. This isn’t the bird flu, this is Ebola. Are you hearing any talk in Washington that at some point in the near future the U.S. government will simply be compelled to implement certain emergency measures?

Stockman: Well, I think, what was it, executive order 1332 or 33, where Obama has laid out — it’s a great Forbes article too, you can read about it — but he talks about using emergency powers to take over control of the economy and everything. Of course our friends at ‘snoops’ [Snopes.com] say it’s false, then you read about it and it turns out to be true. I think, I don’t know, their terminology is there’s always a crisis which they want to use to their benefit, I would not be surprised that the reason that you see a lack of response is so that it becomes a real crisis and things can be used to correct the crisis, you know.

It’s just bizarre there’s not enough action up front and I’m wondering if that’s — I’m not saying this — but I’m wondering if that’s intentional in order to create a greater crisis to use it as a blunt force to say, well in order to solve this crisis we’re going to have to take control of the economy and individuals and so forth. I don’t know. It’s just a strange non-response, a strange way of handling it and I think that if it does go forward and we do not control it, there may be an overreaction where the government starts taking away the rights of those that aren’t that necessarily involved or need that to happen. I hope that’s not that case but as you know this current government uses crisis to advance their philosophy and their agenda.

Steve Stockman: Obama's 'Brute Force' Oppresses Conservatives

Rep. Steve Stockman said today that conservatives “pay a heavy toll” simply for making reasonable demands like “calling for the arrest of Lois Lerner,” warning in a Newsmax interview that Republicans are going up against a president keen on exercising “brute force” to oppress his opponents.

Oddly, Newsmax described the Texas congressman as “Sen. Steve Stockman.” Stockman did run for U.S. Senate, but lost badly in the GOP primary.

The Right Wing's Immigration Hysteria: Round-Up

Here’s a round-up of last week’s Right Wing immigration hysteria:

PFAW

Steve Stockman: US Undermining Fight Against Boko Haram Due To Gay Rights Stance

Rep. Steve Stockman believes that the United States is refusing to help the Nigerian government battle Boko Haram because it disagrees with a recently passed anti-gay law which, among other things, makes it a crime for two or more gay people to meet in groups.

The Texas congressman told WorldNetDaily this weekend that the U.S. isn’t sharing information about Boko Haram with the Nigerian military due its objections to the law.

While the U.S. has pledged assistance to Nigeria, ABC notes that U.S. law prohibits the military “from helping foreign security forces guilty of human rights abuses.”

Nigeria’s forces have with a record of committing gross human rights abuses and top officers have collaborated with Boko Haram.

The United States is withholding information that could help the Nigerian government defeat the Islamic jihadist group Boko Haram, which utilizes murders, bombings and terror to pursue its goals, according to a congressman.

Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said the Obama administration is not sharing the information because it objects to Nigerian policy. He led a delegation to Nigeria June 12-16.

A source who insisted on anonymity told WND the “policy” is Nigeria’s determination to affirm traditional marriage and reject same-sex unions along with non-discrimination statutes that endorse homosexuality.

“We have information that would help the Nigerian military take back their country and get back those girls,” Stockman said. “The mistake on our side – the United States’ side – is that we have laws preventing us from sharing that information with the Nigerian military. And one of the reasons is that we don’t like some of the social policy of the Nigerian government.”

Paranoia-Rama: The Impeachment Scam, Obama Recruits Child Soldiers, And OFA Gives Away The Game

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

This week, we learn that Republican calls for impeachment are actually Democrats’ fault, see a major admission about Obama’s presidency, and explore the connections between environmental protection, the border crisis, Obamaphones, and the president’s private army.

5. Republican Calls For Impeachment Are A Democratic Plot.

We’ve always suspected that people like Bryan Fischer and Matt Barber are liberal plants sent to discredit and destroy the conservative movement from within, but we never knew how far the plot extended.

House Speaker John Boehner busted the scheme wide open this week when he declared that the idea of impeaching President Obama is “all a scam started by the Democrats at the White House” and that “this whole talk about impeachment is coming from the president's own staff and coming from Democrats on Capitol Hill” in an effort to make Republicans look extreme.

Of course, since the very beginning of Obama’s presidency, the GOP’s base has been clamoring to impeach him and remove him from office (although nobody can ever quite agree for what supposed crime).

Those calling for impeachment have even included a number of Republican members of Congress, including Rep. Steve Stockman, who distributed a book in favor of impeachment to every office on Capitol Hill .

And even after Boehner declared the whole thing to be a scam, prominent right-wing talkers including Rush Limbaugh and Mark Levin continued to call for impeachment.

So now, we suppose, multiple members of Congress,Fox News personalities, and major Religious Right organizations are all pawns of the Democratic impeachment agenda.

4. Team Obama Admits To Alinskyite Conspiracy.

WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah has found more solid proof that President Obama has launched an Alinskyite plot to destroy America: an Organizing For Action birthday card that calls the president the “Organizer in Chief.” Let Farah explain:

“Organizer in Chief”?

Isn’t that one of the derisive titles pinned on Obama by his harshest critics?

Isn’t that what Rush Limbaugh calls him?

Isn’t that what I call him?

Doesn’t the origin of that term come from Obama’s devotion to Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals,” the bible of radical, left-wing community organizing?

In fact, doesn’t the new hit movie “America” by Dinesh D’Souza focus quite a bit of attention on Obama’s Alinskyite community organizing roots and how he has carried this brand of activism and incitement right into the White House?

Yes to all of the above.

So why would Obama’s very own political action committee be embracing the cheeky slur against the “commander in chief”?

It’s an admission. It’s immunization. It’s a contemptuous non-repudiation of the truth. It’s classic Alinskyism on display.

3. EPA Recruting Central American Kids To Love Big Government.

Infowars put two and two together this week, noting that the Environmental Protection Agency has solicited a contractor for “Hispanic Media and Public Outreach Support” and “English to Spanish Translation Services” around the same time that thousands of Central American children are fleeing to the United States…an obvious plot to hook them early on Big Government:

The Environmental Protection Agency is targeting Spanish-only speakers in an upcoming public relations campaign, raising concerns that bureaucrats are already encouraging illegal aliens from Central America – potential future voters – to support big government.

2. Migrant Kids Will Be Used For Medical Experiments….

Rep. Michelle Bachmann brought her trademark analysis to the crisis of children fleeing violence in Central America who have come in large numbers to the southwestern American border. In an appearance on “WallBuilders Live” this week, Bachmann suggested that the Central American children will be put into the foster care system and used for medical experimentation :

1. …Or Lured With Obamaphones To Become Child Soldiers.

What could be worse than using migrant children as unwilling guinea pigs for medical experiments? How about luring them with free phones to become child soldiers in President Obama’s private army that will impose tyranny on America?

William Gheen and Alex Jones have the scoop :

Steve Stockman: 'Third World' Obama Wants To Transform America's Culture

Rep. Steve Stockman claimed yesterday that President Obama is using the crisis of unaccompanied minors crossing the southern border as part of an effort to enforce his “Third World view.”

“Obama adopts a Third World view and demands not only we allow these people to remain, but suggests we should start teaching our children Spanish,” the Texas Republican told WorldNetDaily yesterday.

WorldNetDaily notes that Stockman was referring to remarks Obama gave at a campaign stop in 2008, where he was discussing the need for Americans, especially students, to learn more than one language. WND conveniently neglects to mention that Obama began his remarks by saying, “I agree that immigrants should learn English.”

And, of course, teaching children Spanish is nothing new — public schools across the country for decades have included Spanish classes in foreign language education.

Rep. Michele Bachmann, who spoke with WND for the same article, also skewered the Obama administration, alleging that officials “knew back then that this teenager invasion from Central America was on the way” and prepared a “school-in-a-box” to handle the young migrants.

Stockman is concerned Obama’s open-border policies, which have enticed a flood of unaccompanied illegal alien children to come to the border, are intended to push the United States toward a tipping point demographically.

“It’s a bizarre concept when you think about it,” Stockman told WND. “But what Obama is saying is that you have foreign guests in your house, and instead of them learning your language, you are expected to learn theirs.”

Stockman charged that Obama’s goal in allowing the current invasion from Central America is to change American culture fundamentally.

“Obama devalues the principles upon which this country was established,” he said. “He’s angered at Americans, as if we were the people causing the problems south of the border. So Obama adopts a Third World view and demands not only we allow these people to remain but suggests we should start teaching our children Spanish.”

Stockman questioned the political left’s insistence that compassion requires the U.S. to allow the unaccompanied minors to remain in the country even though they have crossed the border illegally.

Bachmann said she found evidence the Obama administration was anticipating the onslaught of young illegal aliens. The huge, DHS-contracted shelter facility operated by a nonprofit group was given was up and running in January.

“The facility was new, all decked-out, with classroom facilities and everything, and it looked to us like it was a ‘school-in-a-box’ prepared in January, evidently because the Obama administration knew back then that this teenager invasion from Central America was on the way,” Bachmann said.

Rep. Steve Stockman: GOP Wants To Arrest Lois Lerner Because She's 'A Word That Rhymes With Witch'

Rep. Steve Stockman is beginning to think that his plan to impeach President Obama might be bad politics, so is now moving on to the brilliant plan of arresting former IRS official Lois Lerner for being what he calls “a word that rhymes with witch.”

In an interview with Newsmax’s Steve Malzberg yesterday, the Texas Republican said that while he still thinks President Obama has “done impeachable offenses,” he now sees that the president is “trying to use people like myself” to start impeachment proceedings that would reflect poorly on Republicans.

So, Stockman said, he’s focusing his efforts before the summer recess on pushing a House vote to arrest Lerner, a move which he may be able to take without the approval of GOP leadership.

When Malzberg asked him whether he thinks his arrest motion would garner the support of his fellow Republicans, Stockman replied, “Well, they said some things about jail and a word that rhymes with witch sometimes to me.”

He went on to criticize Lerner for being “insolent,” “in no way compliant,” and having “total disrespect for Congress.”

Rep. Stockman: 'There Are More People Coming Across The Border Than We Sent In Invasion Of France'

Calling the influx of Central American child refugees at the southern border an “invasion of our nation,” Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) told WorldNetDaily yesterday that “there are more people coming across the border than those we sent in invasion of France” in World War II.

“There are more people coming across the border than invaded France in World War II,” he said. “That is an invasion of our nation.”

Stockman denied that the situation was a refugee crisis because “there are many U.S. cities that have a higher murder rate than Guatemala.”

Judicial Watch: Obama 'Engineered' Border Crisis To Force Vote On Immigration Reform

Yet another anti-immigrant activist is claiming that President Obama orchestrated the crisis at the southern border in order to push a vote on immigration reform.

Sean Dunagan of Judicial Watch tells the American Family Association’s OneNewsNow today that Obama “engineered” the influx of families and unaccompanied children in order to “make current immigration law look as cruel and inhumane as they possibly can to possibly build political support for some additional amnesty program”:

Dunagan suggests Obama is opening the floodgates to these young illegal aliens for purely political reasons.

"It seems to be that the administration is trying to make current immigration law look as cruel and inhumane as they possibly can to possibly build political support for some additional amnesty program," he says. "I absolutely believe that it's being engineered and exploited to try force action into bad policy decisions and bad votes on the issue."

Last week, Republican congressmen Steve King and Steve Stockman claimed that the influx of immigrants was part of an Obama administration plot to increase the Democratic vote . Anti-immigrant activist William Gheen has also claimed that the crisis was “orchestrated” by President Obama and George Soros.

On his program last week, Glenn Beck also claimed that the border crisis is part of a plot to pass immigration reform and to ultimately return Arizona to Mexico:

To his credit, Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies, one of the anti-immigration reform movement’s most prominent spokespeople, has pushed back on the conspiracy theory.

Steve King And Steve Stockman Warn 'Leninist' Obama Is 'Flooding The Border With Illegals'

Republican congressmen Steve King and Steve Stockman chatted with the far-right website WorldNetDaily yesterday, where they praised Eric Cantor’s GOP primary defeat and blamed President Obama for an increase in border crossings by young people, mainly from Central America.

King and Stockman agreed that Obama is using “a Cloward-Piven maneuver” to “flood” the country with immigrants in order to increase the share of the Democratic vote, particularly in Texas.

Stockman called Obama a “Leninist,” while King said that the U.S. could “send in George Patton and the Third Army” as in “the Battle of the Bulge.”

“I do feel this attempt to flood the border with illegals is a playing out of the Cloward-Piven theory,” said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa.

“If you don’t see them bring reinforcements down there to seal the border, that means that, yes, it’s a Cloward-Piven maneuver to flood the country until we get to the point where we are an open-borders country that welcomes everybody, legal and illegal,” he told WND.

Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, agreed that Obama – who studied the chaos strategy at Columbia, according to a classmate – “is trying to do a Cloward-Piven thing with the border.”

“Obama follows all the far-left, Leninist, socialist-type stuff,” Stockman told WND.

He said it’s “an open secret Obama is trying to flood Texas with illegals to make it into a blue state,” with a Democrat majority.

“If we lose Texas, and it becomes like California, then the Republicans lose the chance of ever getting a Republican elected president,” the Texas lawmaker warned.

King agreed that one of the aims of the illegal-alien flood is to turn Texas into a Democrat state.

“You or I could shut that thing down in less than a week,” he said. “Instead of busing and flying illegals out of Texas, you fly enforcement people in.”

King said that while the U.S. is spending $7 a mile to defend the border, “we need to take people to plug the leak.”

“It’s the Battle of the Bulge down there, and you send in George Patton and the Third Army to relieve the surrounded 101st Airborne,” King said.

King said the shocking primary defeat Tuesday of House Majority Leader Rep. Eric Cantor in Virginia was about immigration.

“The voters stepped up and supported a candidate who has done an excellent job of articulating how important it is to restore the rule of law as a component of American exceptionalism,” he said, referring to tea-party candidate David Brat.

Cantor has expressed support for the principles of Obama’s proposed DREAM Act, which would grant amnesty to illegal aliens who came to the U.S. as children.

“The establishment will try to spin this, but Cantor’s loss reflects a voter rejection of amnesty, and it should put the brakes on any effort to move amnesty legislation in the House,” King said.

Stockman said the “key to Cantor losing was that the conservatives – including talk radio – united behind one candidate instead of what happened in my race where you had different people on our side supporting different GOP candidates.”

Steve Stockman Suggests Obama Is A Secret Muslim And Terrorist Sympathizer

Speaking with NewsMax’s Steve Malzberg last week, Rep. Steve Stockman insisted that President Obama “has a grudge against the military and the American people” and a “propensity to fall again and again on the side of terrorists” in countries like Egypt, Syria and Libya.

“A lot of people say he’s not something, we can’t say it on the radio, but if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, I think it might be a duck,” he said, suggesting that Obama is a secret Muslim.

Lifting a joke from Sen. Rand Paul, the Texas Republican also suggested that the administration exchange National Security Advisor Susan Rice for a U.S. Marine held in a Mexican jail on weapons charges.

Right Wing Round-Up - 3/10/14

Stockman: 'We Have The Skill Set To Win Again, So We'll Be Back'

Rep. Steve Stockman lost badly in his primary election against Sen. John Cornyn yesterday, takingjust 19 percent of the vote. But the congressman told WorldNetDaily that he only lost as a result of Cornyn’s hefty financial advantage and promised that he would be back:

“It’s not what we wanted, but he had $14 million,” Stockman told WND just minutes after polls closed. “I don’t think we could honestly compete with that. We tried, though.”

But he told WND, “Quite frankly, we took on a huge challenge, and we did fairly well. We still have the skill-set to win again, so we’ll be back.”

Stockman added, “I’m a fighter. I’m not going to stand down. The difference between a winner and a loser is whether you get back up. And I’m going to get back up.”

Of course, Stockman ran a pathetic race ridden with dishonest campaigning, bizarre legal threats and fake endorsements. One Tea Party group called Stockman’s campaign the “laziest statewide campaign to date,” as the congressman didn’t seem to actually campaign outside of Twitter and misleading mailers.

The only real source of Stockman’s support seemed to be the far-right website WorldNetDaily.

When he announced his campaign, we dubbed Stockman ‘the congressman from WorldNetDaily’ -- he has embraced many right-wing conspiracy theories promoted by the site and sent copies of their book on President Obama’s impeachment to every member of Congress.

WND, in turn, went above and beyond to help Stockman.

WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi endorsed Stockman and produced a video attacking Cornyn as a “RINO.” He later wrote an article for WorldNetDaily called, “Famous Republican About To Fall Out Of Sight?,” that praised Stockman and harshly criticized Cornyn as a phony conservative.

Other pro-Stockman articles in WorldNetDaily included “Titanic Republican Shift In Key Senate Race” and “Conservative Launches ‘Cruz’ Missile To Torpedo GOP Bigwig.” And just look at how WorldNetDaily announced Stockman’s defeat: “This time, Goliath beat David.”

Maybe Stockman was so confident about his chances against Cornyn because his entire campaign seemed to exist in WorldNetDaily’s alternate reality.

The Tea Party Is Five Years Old: Here's What It Has To Show For Itself

The fifth anniversary of the Tea Party gives us an opportunity to look back not only at the many myths surrounding the movement, but also at what it has to show for its five years of political nihilism:

1) Government Shutdown

Many Tea Party activists seemed to be under the delusion that the GOP was pummeled in the 2012 election because Republican candidates weren’t conservative enough, and that voters really want more of their brand of uncompromising, ultraconservative, ideological politics. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz gave them just that when he convinced Republican congressional leaders to go along with him in forcing a government shutdown over the health care reform law.

The GOP and the Tea Party suffered a massive backlash from the public, but Cruz fixed things by “unskewing” the polls and insisting that the GOP was actually winning the shutdown battle.

Of course, Republicans ended up getting nothing out of the shutdown, and Cruz is now desperately trying to claim that it was actually Obama and Senate Democrats who were responsible for it.

2) Debt Limit Fights

With Tea Party-aligned members of Congress acting like “lemmings with suicide vests,” Tea Party politicians and organizations have repeatedly pressured GOP leaders to engage in hostage-taking over the federal debt limit, warning that they may refuse to raise the debt ceiling unless President Obama agrees to their demands — even if that means throwing the economy into crisis. One problem is that many Tea Party leaders don’t understand how the debt limit works, or the dangerous consequences of their political strategy.

While GOP leaders have vowed not to follow the insane policy anymore, the Tea Party still has two debt limit crises to “celebrate,” and a third if they get their way.

3) Candidate Drama

Tea Party-backed candidates such as Sharron Angle, Christine O’Donnell and Richard Mourdock are best known for their spectacular ability to lose winnable races, not to mention their high entertainment value. But we shouldn’t be surprised that Tea Party activists are drawn to such candidates, as many take after more successful Tea Party leaders like Cruz and Michele Bachmann.

Just in case you thought Republicans had learned their lesson about fringy Tea Party candidates, Glenn Beck spent last year trying to encourage extremist figures including Rep. Louie Gohmert and pseudo-historian David Barton to take on incumbent Sen. John Cornyn of Texas in this year’s Republican primary. Ultimately, the equally far-right congressman Steve Stockman got in the race.

4) GOP Takeover

Despite much talk about “establishment” Republicans fighting back against Tea Party insurgents, very few Tea Party congressmen are facing primary challengers. After the 2013 shutdown and debt fights, business groups like the Chamber of Commerce announced that they would take on the Tea Party…but they made the same threat after the 2011 debt limit crisis, and ended up funding Tea Party-aligned Republicans anyway.

“Despite making statements and sending letters voicing their concern, the Chamber has failed to spend a single penny in advocacy against the Tea Party hostage-takers,” Lee Fang notes. “[A]fter helping the Tea Party seize the House and several governors’ mansions during the midterms, business groups pumped funds into an effort to gerrymander the Tea Party into permanent rule.”

Hardline activists have also taken over groups such as Heritage Foundation and empowered new organizations such as FreedomWorks, Senate Conservatives Fund and The Madison Project, who are now backing Tea Party challengers in GOP Senate primaries states like Kentucky, Kansas and Mississippi.

While there is a lot of fuss about fired aides and ad firms as signs of the GOP civil war, in the end Republicans have embraced most of the Tea Party’s agenda — if not their tactics — and the many Tea Party congressmen from deep red districts seem to be here to stay.

5) Obama’s Second Term

While the Tea Party is far from the only factor that helped President Obama win re-election, the Tea Party — along with their close allies in the Religious Righttalk radio and Fox News — moved the GOP and its leaders towards unpopular and extreme positions on issues ranging from immigration to Medicare.

The Tea Party “makers-and-takers” worldview was most infamously stated by Mitt Romney in his notorious remarks about the “47 percent,” a line that conservative activists actually loved.

A CNN poll [PDF] taken a month after the 2012 election found that a 53 percent of Americans believe the Republican party is “too extreme,” a seventeen-point increase from 2010.

Completely divorced from reality, few Tea Party supporters predicted that Romney would lose: Two months before the election, a whopping 84 percent of Tea Party members believed that “pollsters [were] intentionally skewing their polls to help Barack Obama.”

Stockman: Obama Administration Marriage Equality Stance 'Setting Up For A Dictatorship'

Texas congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Steve Stockman criticized the Obama administration’s position on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) during an interview yesterday with Religious Right talk show host Janet Mefferd.

Stockman said the administration’s refusal to defend DOMA “undermines the whole concept of our country” and insisted that people “should have pickets” in Washington. “You’re really setting up for a dictatorship,” he said. “It’s really pretty frightening for the children and grandchildren down the road, this is really a dangerous example to set.”

Of course, Obama is far from the first president to decline to defend a federal law the administration deemed unconstitutional.

Steve Stockman: Cornyn Just 'Sounds Conservative' Like Obama, Wendy Davis

Texas Republican congressman Steve Stockman, in his primary challenge to Sen. John Cornyn, has displayed a pretty loose relationship with the truth, from his easily disprovable denial that he was once arrested for felony drug possession to the very premise of his campaign, that Cornyn, one of the most conservative members of the Senate, is actually a liberal.

In an interview with WorldNetDaily published today, Stockman – apparently unfazed by recent criticism – continues to push his fuzzy version of the truth. First, he claims that Cornyn’s conservatism can’t be trusted because he “only sounds like a conservative.” “Wendy Davis sounds like a conservative,” Stockman observeds and “Obama sounded like a conservative when he was running.” Stockman also repeats his claim that Cornyn , who voted several times against the Affordable Care Act, actually supports it, and that the health care law is “going to absolutely destroy our nation.”

Stockman said that the GOP actually lost seats when Cornyn was chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee because he doesn’t advocate a conservative agenda. The congressman said the senator only sounds like a conservative when he runs for re-election.

“Even though his ads say he is a conservative, (Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate) Wendy Davis sounds like a conservative. Obama sounded like a conservative when he was running, if you actually listened to the rhetoric. But we have to look at his voting record and his positions. And it is abundantly clear that they are different than the mainstream conservative values.”

Illustrating his point, Stockman said “A vote for Cornyn is a vote for Obamacare.”

The congressman said Cornyn has supported Obamacare numerous times in the false notion that it’s going to help the Republican Party, adding, “That’s going to absolutely destroy our nation.”

Later in the interview, Stockman repeats his claim that he singlehandedly stopped both immigration reform and a gun violence prevention law in Congress, which as the Texas Tribune notes, is completely false.

And, he added, they didn’t like that he killed the amnesty bill (Sen. Majority Leader) Harry Reid (D-Nev.) had sent to the House.

“We did what’s called a ‘blue-slip.’ We declared it a tax, which it is because the Supreme Court ruled the fees in the health care bill are taxes. The Senate cannot create or generate any revenue. The Constitution gives that power strictly to the House. The House creates what’s called a blue slip, in that event, and I did that to both the immigration and the gun bills.”

Ben Carson: 'Gestapo' Obama Administration Hopes To Shut Down Fox News

Conservative leaders are continuing to rally around Dinesh D’Souza, who has been charged with making illegal “straw donations” to the campaign of a Republican Senate candidate, by claiming — citing zero evidence — that the prosecution is due to D’Souza’s right-wing activism.

WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah posted a story today featuring congressmen Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Steve Stockman (R-TX) denigrating the prosecution as political maneuvering by the Obama administration.

But the most incendiary rhetoric came from Ben Carson, who compared the Obama administration to the Gestapo and said that President Obama will not “be happy unless Fox News were shut down and there was no more criticism of his actions.”

Dr. Ben Carson, the brain surgeon turned popular political analyst, told WND Obama administration officials are “acting like the Gestapo” with the Justice Department indictment of Dinesh D’Souza coupled with the Internal Revenue Service’s political targeting of the administration’s critics.

“I believe we are dealing with an extremely corrupt administration,” he said.

Dr. Carson himself became the subject of an IRS audit after criticizing Barack Obama’s policies at the annual National Prayer Breakfast in Washington last year.

“What he said was that his administration was not guilty of any wrongdoing with regard to the IRS and he blamed Fox News for reporting it,” Dr. Carson said. “I don’t think he would be happy unless Fox News were shut down and there was no more criticism of his actions.”

Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., called the D’Souza indictment “100 percent” political.

“Of course it is,” she said. “It is payback from the DOJ. Plus, it sends a signal to anyone else for 2016 who may be thinking of producing a movie. It is up to the candidate to return the money. This should have been found when the FEC filing occurred. I don’t know the details, but this could cost Dinesh literally millions in legal defense fees, plus destroying his name and making him toxic to conservatives and Republicans. These are the goals of the political destruction machine at the DOJ.”

Likewise, Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, told WND, “Yes, I think it is political. It fits a pattern of abuse of power. As someone else said, President Obama is the president Nixon wanted to be.”

Stockman: GM Bailout Brought Fascism To America

Steve Stockman, the currently missing Republican congressman, gave a New Year’s Eve interview with “Let’s Talk Bitcoin” where he warned about growing fascism in America.

Stockman, who recently decided that his Senate campaign will accept Bitcoin contributions, said that “we do have some fascism” in America due to “government intervention” in the economy, such as the GM bailout.
