AFA: With DOMA Decision, America Is 'Shaking Its Fist at God,' Christians Will be 'Crushed'

American Family Association president Tim Wildmon and radio host Sandy Rios have maintained a miserable mood on American Family Radio today after the Supreme Court’s decision on DOMA. Rios argued that the gay rights “freight train” will compel Christians “to bow the knee or to be crushed.” “This is going to get rough,” Rios said, “they are going to infringe on each of us, our children [and] our jobs.”

Later, Wildmon said that “this is a very sad day in our country” because “this is America shaking its fist at God almighty.”

Watch:

Wildmon, who yesterday wondered if opponents of gay marriage will soon be “hauled off to jail,” warned in a statement that “persecution” is imminent:

We are deeply saddened by today’s decision to not only allow but encourage same-sex marriage in our country—a country that was founded on biblical principles. We mourn for America’s future, but we are not without hope.

Our next line of defense is to vigorously protect our religious liberty. The homosexual lobby and agenda is running rampant across America, and is even pervading our elementary schools. The judicial activism that is being demonstrated is deplorable as the Supreme Court is imposing its will on the people and legislatures of the fifty states in our United States of America.

Now, we must warn against the coming persecution, the barrage of criticism and the aggressive action of the homosexual agenda to indoctrinate and change the thoughts and convictions of Americans to accept this lifestyle as the new normal. In addition, the trend of classifying statements that have a biblical foundation as ‘hate speech’ is one that AFA will do everything in its power to prevent.

Perkins: Gay Marriage Ruling Will Undermine Court's Legitimacy, Freedom in America

Family Research Council head Tony Perkins yesterday chatted with Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association on Today’s Issues to discuss the Supreme Court’s imminent decisions on Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act. Perkins warned that if the Proposition 8 is overturned, then the “legitimacy of the court” will be called into question.

Despite all evidence pointing to overwhelming support for marriage equality among young voters and heaviest resistance among seniors, Perkins said in reference to gay rights advocates that “time is not on their side.”

“They need the court to impose this on the entire nation, because the more time that it takes them to push their agenda, the more Americans will realize the unintended consequences of it,” Perkins claimed. “It’s going to be a clear and present danger to the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion in our country.”

After Perkins bizarrely argued that marriage equality supporters are in a race against time, Wildmon wondered if opponents of gay marriage would be “hauled off to jail” in a few years. Perkins added that anti-gay activists may be “prosecuted by our government” soon as marriage equality eviscerates freedom.

Watch:

Perkins: I would think they’re going to be hard-pressed to overturn California’s Prop. 8. That would have serious ramifications, I think, for I really think the legitimacy of the court to undermine what the voters of California did.

Perkins: There’s this idea that this is inevitable, that’s what they want to present, this idea that this is inevitable, I think certainly to influence the court and the American people. The reason they’re trying to make it appear to be inevitable is because time is not on their side. They need the court to impose this on the entire nation because the more time that it takes them to push their agenda, the more Americans will realize the unintended consequences of it. This is not just about the marriage altar; this is about fundamentally altering America: religious liberty, parental rights, free speech, all of that goes by the wayside if we embrace this notion of redefining natural marriage.

Wildmon: For the next year or two, three years perhaps, in terms of the Christian community in this country that wants to defend natural marriage and believes in Romans 1 among other biblical verses that homosexuality is sin, are we going to be able to believe that teaching anymore without being hauled off to jail?

Perkins: Well you certainly can believe it. I do think there is coming a choice, whether or not that happens immediately, that we have to choose between not only believing scripture but living according to it and being prosecuted by our government, the time frame in which that happens I’m not certain. But clearly we’re already saying those who hold to a biblical view of morality are being marginalized and stigmatized with the intention of silencing them in the public square. It’s going to be a clear and present danger to the freedom of speech and the freedom of religion in our country.

Starnes: America Becoming '1930s Germany' Under Obama

In an interview with American Family Association head Tim Wildmon today, Fox News correspondent Todd Starnes claimed that America is transforming into “1930s Germany” under President Obama’s leadership.

Starnes’ proof? He mentioned a 2009 story about how administration officials under then-social secretary Desirée Rogers debated whether to have a crèche at the White House, ultimately deciding to do so. But in Starnes’s retelling, President Obama personally tried “to get rid of the nativity scene.” Starnes also referred to a brief statement made by Sen. Mark Enzi about a call he received from a constituent who said the IRS requested membership lists from his church. Enzi did not offer any further information.

Apparently all of this means that America is one step away from Nazism:

Starnes: I write about how the President, first Christmas in the White House, wanted to get rid of the nativity scene, that is not exactly the move of a faith-friendly president. I do think that it is a combination; I think that there are a lot of liberals and a lot of secularists that are serving in federal government positions and those folks see the opportunity to crack down because they know no one is going to say anything about it and their behavior is going to go on unchecked. It should frighten every person listening us to know that the IRS told a church in Wyoming that they had to turn over their membership rolls. This is not 1930s Germany gentlemen, this is the United States of America, and unless people of faith stand up and put a stop to this, we very well could be facing a 1930s Germany here.

Wildmon: We need some defenders in the Congress to help us and help average Americans out here against this oppression, against this abuse of power by the IRS.

Stemberger: 'Anything That Has the Word 'Gay' on it [is] Inappropriate for Kids'

Religious Right activist John Stemberger is continuing his fight against a proposal to end the Boy Scouts of America's ban on gay members, telling Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association that "anything that has the word 'gay' on it in our culture ... [is] guaranteed to be inappropriate for kids."

Wildmon asked why gay activists don't just start their own Gay Scouts of America program instead of forcing this sort of change on the Boy Scouts, which prompted Stemberger to respond that gay activists want to "flaunt their sexuality [and] promote political, social agenda" to children, which is just utterly inappropriate.

"You look at anything that has the world 'gay' on it in our culture," Stemberger said, "a gay magazine, a gay blog, a gay website, a gay parade, you name it, it's gonna be guaranteed to be inappropriate for kids. And that's what we're talking about; we talking about injecting hyper-sexuality and a leftist political agenda right into the veins of the Boy Scouts and it will utterly devastate it":

Sandy Rios Likens Boston Attack to When Nero 'Burned Rome' and 'Blamed Christians'

Sandy Rios on her radio show today was joined by her boss, American Family Association president Tim Wildmon, to discuss the bombing at the Boston marathon, and said the attack “reminds” her of when the Roman emperor Nero “burned Rome” and then “blamed Christians.”

“It’s that psychological process of blaming people that you hate so that they will take the blame for something and it solves two problems for you,” Rios claimed. “So this is nothing new.”

Rios accused the Obama administration of trying to stop security officials from referencing Islam while supposedly identifying conservatives, like gun owners and AFA radio listeners, as “enemies on equal footing with Islamists.”

She said that this alleged policy makes America “less safe” while Wildmon criticized the media for saying that the bombing could have been an “anti-government” attack when he thinks it was almost certainly an act of “Islamic jihadism.”

Wildmon: These Islamic jihadists, the extremists, they are here among us now and we’re going to have to be vigilant, we’re going to have to keep our eyes open. I don’t know, you’re not going to prevent everything; something’s are going to happen like what happened in Boston yesterday. Again, we’re saying this not knowing for certain that this is what happened that is that it was an act of an Al Qaeda type group or jihad, but that’s what I’m thinking it is, that’s my default position because of all the attacks that have taken place around the world by these groups.

Rios: There’s a good reason why these terrorist strikes have been thwarted because our guys have been working 24/7, our security forces, our FBI, all of these really good guys who are really disconnected from what’s happening at the top but things are changing. The military training manuals, the FBI manuals, all of the people fighting Islam within and without, the manuals have been scrubbed, they don’t dare speak of Islam, they don’t dare speak of jihad. I have to tell you, that’s going to have a correlation to our safety, it can’t help. If we’re now saying, ‘oh it’s probably people who listen to AFA who are right-wing in their politics, they want to keep their guns, they are probably—’ if we broaden the scope that those are the enemies on equal footing with Islamists we are going to be less safe because our resources are going to be spread thin.

Wildmon: You have like twenty acts of terrorism that are related to Islamic jihadism and then you have one Timothy McVeigh anti-government, and the media acts like, ‘oh we don’t know there are a lot of both out there.’

Rios: Chris Matthews weighed in on this last night too, sort of hinting the same thing. This reminds me Tim, do you remember when Nero was the Emperor of Rome? Remember that he burned Rome and what did he do? He blamed the Christians. So I’m just saying it’s transference, it’s that psychological process of blaming people that you hate so that they will take the blame for something and it solves two problems for you. So this is nothing new.

DeMint: 'Secular Socialistic' Obama Orchestrating Crises for Political Gain

Former U.S. Senator and current Heritage Foundation president Jim DeMint appeared on Today’s Issues with American Family Association head Tim Wildmon where he reiterated his “no compromise” mantra by arguing that President Obama and his allies are so extreme that there is no point in working with them.

When Wildmon asked if Obama even “has a conscience,” DeMint pointed to a 2008 quote by Rahm Emmanuel, whom DeMint mistakenly called “Raul Emmanuel,” about the financial crisis to suggest that Obama and his allies are deliberately creating crises in order to implement sweeping policy changes.

“What they understand on the liberal side is that the failures of their policies actually have empowered them to actually advance their policies,” DeMint told Wildmon, “A financial/economic crisis allows the president to reconfigure our whole economic and cultural system to redistribute the wealth the way he wants.”

After blaming the left for the 2008 financial crisis, DeMint argued that Obama has a “secular socialistic view” and that his “policies hurt people.” Consequently, people with a “faith and freedom view” shouldn’t even bother working with him.

Listen:

Wildmon: Overturning DOMA and Prop 8 May Lead to Hate Speech Laws

During the debate over the Shepard-Byrd Hate Crimes Prevention Act, Religious Right groups like the American Family Association warned that the law would “criminalize negative comments concerning homosexuality” and “take away our religious freedoms.”

Of course, none of that happened, but that hasn’t stopped anti-gay activists from making the exact same false claims again and hoping more people will fall for it.

Yesterday, AFA president Tim Wildmon appeared on The Janet Mefferd Show and alleged that if the Supreme Court overturned Proposition 8 and the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) then we will see “persecution against Christians” and restrictions on the freedom of speech.

Wildmon: You’re headed down the road of persecution against Christians who believe in the Bible as their standard for moral behavior. In Canada now they have different rules there where you can’t even criminalize the lifestyle itself or you’ll be charged with a hate crime. You know that’s the road we’re headed down if these laws, if DOMA is struck down, if Prop 8 is struck down, then you’re headed for control of speech, even if it’s religious speech.

Ironically, the AFA’s own legal counsel, Pat Vaughn, admitted that “the Defense of Marriage Act is probably unconstitutional.”

Is Satan Behind the Campaign to Let Gays Join the Boy Scouts?

With the Boy Scouts of America board planning to vote Wednesday on whether to allow local troops to accept gay members, Religious Right activists are ramping up their efforts to keep the ban in place. And Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel believes that Satan is the real culprit behind the potential shift in policy.

Barber blamed “spiritual pressure” from Satan — “the Prince of the Earth” — for the potential decision of the BSA board and claimed that Jerry Sandusky may soon “join the jamboree.”

The Prince of the Earth seeks to corrupt and ultimately destroy all that is righteous, honorable and good. It’s little wonder, then, that for years the Boy Scouts have faced a malicious and unrelenting assault at the hands of those “who call evil good and good evil.”

If the BSA, with its proud tradition of teaching millions of young boys how to become honorable young men, gives in on this, the organization is toast. Oh, it might limp along as something else – something entirely different, worldly and weak – but its long history as an upright, ethical and God-honoring safe-haven for boys will come to a disgraceful close.

Still, under immense socio-political – indeed spiritual pressure, the Boy Scouts appear poised to play a very dangerous, self-deluded game of “the Scoutmaster wears no clothes.” They’re flirting with the queer idea of an about turn – of betraying both absolute truth and the very boys they serve.

Instead of teaching young men to stand up to the bully, they would model surrender – teach them that, when you reach an adversarial fork in the road, take the primrose path of least resistance.

But it’s much worse than all that. We mustn’t ignore the pink elephant in the room; the Penn State factor. Should the BSA cave beneath the weight of sexual anarchist intimidation, Scoutmaster Sandusky joins the jamboree.

Liberty Counsel joined the Liberty Institute and Alliance Defending Freedom in a letter to the BSA insisting that any change in policy will undermine their “religious liberty and First Amendment rights.” Meanwhile, the American Family Association said that “the homosexual machine will continue to attack” the BSA until no troops have bans on gay members.

Liberty Counsel’s posted a graphic on its Facebook page that says that Boy Scouts will compromise their ability to “participate in healthy activities without fear of predation or moral confusion.”

The Iowa-based Family Leader warned of “sexual abuse” in the Boy Scouts if the ban is lifted:

The Boy Scouts of America, under intense financial pressure from homosexual activists, are considering changing their 100-year old policy of not allowing openly homosexual Scout leaders and Scouts. This pressure tactic is an attack on religious liberty, would teach our youth the wrong lessons, and should put every God-fearing individual on alert.

The Scout oath includes promises to keep oneself “morally straight,” and to be courageous. If the Boy Scouts’ leaders compromise on moral principles under political and financial pressure, it will only teach boys cowardice, not courage.

The current policy is also designed to protect Scouts from sexual abuse. How will parents be able to entrust their children to the Boy Scouts if they trade the well-being of the boys for corporate dollars?

Janet Porter of Faith 2 Action also argued that the Boy Scouts will “put boys at risk” in her radio alert:

Will the Scouts put boys at risk by inviting homosexual activists to become the scoutmasters at their campouts in the woods?

While the Boy Scouts of America have for many years taken a protective stand against homosexual scoutmasters, they are inviting public opinion on whether to put impressionable boys at risk by changing their policy.

They are “discussing potentially removing the national membership restriction regarding sexual orientation.”

We need to call before their board meets and likely decides this week at 972-580-2000. Urge them to stand firm in the best interest of the boys in their care, rather than the interests of homosexual activists. Then, ask others to call at 972-580-2000.

The AFA’s Randy Sharp told the group’s leader Tim Wildmon that including gay Boy Scouts is “a very dangerous and unhealthy thing.”

Wildmon: Who is putting pressure on them?

Sharp: Mostly it’s the homosexual lobby in America, the Human Rights Campaign, groups like these that are trying to pressure the Boy Scouts into opening up their membership to open homosexuals to serve not only as leaders and mentors but also to boys who may be questioning their sexuality or have claimed to be openly gay. The Boy Scouts find that when you’ve got the homosexual leaders it’s a very dangerous and unhealthy thing.

Wildmon: That’s the reason they’ve always had the policy. That’s the Boy Scout pledge, isn’t it, “morally straight”?

Sharp: Absolutely, it’s in the oath.

Wildmon: That means “morally straight” sexually too and being homosexual would not be being straight.

Sharp: It’s not being very moral either.

Wildmon: Exactly.

Buster Wilson of the AFA last week went on a tirade against the Human Rights Campaign and maintained that “there is a day of reckoning that will come” to them for creating the “Boy Scouts of Gay America.”

Folks, in any other avenue in American life that would be called extortion. In any other venue of American existence that would be seen as villainous and as extortion. The Human Rights campaign, for all humans except those that are not gay, it’s a joke. They ought to be ashamed and there is a day of reckoning that will come.

If the Boy Scouts cave to the extortion-demands of the Human Rights Campaign through all of the corporate sponsors they’ve threatened then we will lose this venerable group for good. It will be a trophy on the wall of Big Gay and their agenda and we will see one more portion of moral American life gone.

If they wilt under the pressure of the Human Rights Campaign and they fold like a cheap tent they will cease to exist. Let me tell you what the Boy Scouts of America will become, if they change their ruling and they give into the pressure and the extortion of the Human Rights Campaign this is what’s going to happen: the Boy Scouts of America will falter and fall and become nothing in the end but the ‘Boy Scouts of Gay America’ because that’s the only folks that’ll support them.

Tim Wildmon Exposes Obama's Devious Plan to Collapse the Economy

American Family Association president Tim Wildmon appears to be convinced that President Obama is planning to destroy the economy in order to create “some kind of national emergency or something” that will allow him to take absolute power.

Wildmon wrote a column last week attacking Obama for seeking to raise taxes on top earners and chided him for ignoring the Simpson-Bowles plan. Of course, that plan calls for steep tax increases.

Speaking to fellow AFA radio host Dan Celia today, Wildmon contended that Obama wants to “see the economy collapse on purpose.” Celia added that Obama is a “radical Marxist” who “is desperate for more social control and power.” He further revealed his economic expertise when he struggled to describe Keynesian economics as he clearly has no idea what Keynesian economics is.

Wildmon: I’m just throwing the questions out there because the actions of the President lead me to believe he may in fact see the economy collapse on purpose. To what end, I’m not sure exactly, maybe so he can do something at that point. Probably about three to five percent of the American public actually believes what I suggested here. Do you have any logical explanation? There is something a “legitimate” economic ideology that’s taught in even schools, called Keynesian, is that what it’s called, Keynesian economics. I guess more people would say that’s what he subscribes to rather than this idea of intentionally trying to bankrupt the country. How do you explain his actions or inactions with all this?

Celia: I don’t disagree with when you look at the fruit, that’s what you see. I think it could be also that this is someone who is desperate for more social control and more power. Obviously one way you get that, the way that radical Marxists—which I believe he is—history shows that once you get everybody standing in a breading, you can accomplish pretty much anything you want with false promises or false ideology.

Wildmon: I’m just going on the facts that President Obama, his actions and his inactions lead me to suspect that he doesn’t have a problem with our country going bankrupt because then he can do things that he wants to do because of some kind of national emergency or something.

Right Wing Leftovers - 1/8/13

  • Without irony, Glenn Beck and crew attack Alex Jones as a lunatic fascist conspiracy theorist ... while claiming that his appearance on CNN was part of a conspiracy to make gun defenders look crazy.
  • Randy Thomasson says "Adolf Hitler and his henchmen would be proud" of California.
  • Peter LaBarbera has twenty resolutions for anti-gay activists in 2013.
  • Tim Wildmon is "not so sure that President Obama is not intentionally trying to bankrupt the United States of America."
  • Finally, Bryan Fischer bravely engages in a hypothetical conversation with a straw man:

Right Wing Leftovers - 1/7/13

  • WorldNetDaily has really outdone itself by attacking Neil Patrick Harris for starring in an ad for the Super Bowl…which must mean he is mocking Tim Tebow and pushing the “gay agenda”!
  • Absolutely stunned that Fox News deceptively edited a speech by President Obama to attack him on gun policy.
  • Just a mere eight percent of Americans identify as Tea Party members, but that won’t stop Tea Party groups and politicians from claiming they speak for the majority of Americans.
  • Gary Bauer says Chuck Hagel’s nomination as Defense Secretary proves “Obama is a leftist ideologue whose economic policies are socialistic and whose foreign policies are weak and pro-Islamism.”
  • Robert Knight writes in the Washington Times that Democrats have an “obsession with alternative states of ecstasy, extreme environmentalism, perverse sex, big government and confiscatory taxes.”
  • Mat Staver of Liberty Counsel warns there is a push to “criminalize speech by U.S. citizens on homosexuality.”
  • WND editor Joseph Farah says the End Times are fast approaching.

Wildmon: Satan Carried Out the Shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School

American Family Association president Tim Wildmon offered up his thoughts on last week's tragic school shooting in Connecticut by saying that Satan literally took possession of shooter Adam Lanza and carried out the attack ... but "that doesn't exonerate the person of their responsibility" for what happened because Lanza knew what he was doing:

Wildmon: Obama Wouldn't Have Been Re-Elected if He Was White

The American Spectator's founder, R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr., was a guest on the American Family Association's "Today's Issues" broadcast this morning to explain how the thesis of his recent book, "The Death of Liberalism," was still valid despite the recent election results on the grounds that President Obama is not a liberal but rather a socialist.

In Tyrrell's view, Obama's win was just a demonstration of the fact that conservatism has big victories but then reaches a plateau before going on to even greater victories.  So while the 2010 midterm elections were proof that America is a conservative nation, the 2012 election results were just a temporary plateau before the 2014 midterms, which will be another blowout win for conservatives.

But AFA's Tim Wildmon had a simpler explanation of why President Obama was re-elected:  because he is black.

Arthur Goldberg Likens his Embattled Ex-Gay Therapy Group to Weight Watchers

Before founding the ex-gay therapy group JONAH, Arthur Goldberg was an investor convicted on felony charges and served time in prison for mail fraud and conspiracy. But the con man is being hailed as a hero by the Religious Right now that he is going up against the Southern Poverty Law Center in court, which is representing several customers of his New Jersey-based organization who are suing him for consumer fraud. Goldberg, however, will be unable to represent himself as he has been disbarred.

While speaking to American Family Association president Tim Wildmon and Family Research Council head Tony Perkins on AFA Today, Goldberg denied the SPLC’s claims that he defrauded customers by advertising that his group is able to “cure clients of being gay,” for example by instructing a group of men to “remove their clothing and stand naked in a circle” alongside a nude “counselor.”

Goldberg told Wildmon and Perkins that filing suit against an ex-gay therapy organization is like suing Weight Watchers for failing to lose weight through their program.

Wildmon: Obama Should be Impeached Over Attack in Libya

Frank Gaffney was the guest on AFA's "Today's Issues" radio program this morning to discuss the Right's ongoing obsession with the conspiracy that there has been a systematic cover-up of the attack in Benghazi, Libya back in September.  The conspiracy theory now runs so deep that it prompted Tim Wildmon to go off on an extended rant about how President Obama and his administration lied and "intentionally misled the American people" about what happened in order to protect him ahead of the election.  As such, Wildmon asserted, this "scandal" is worse than Watergate and that had this happened back in 1973, Obama would have been unanimously impeached:

Wildmon: There's Nothing GOP Can Do to Win Over Black and Hispanic Voters

This morning on AFA's "Today's Issues," Tim Wildmon took issue with the prevailing wisdom among conservatives and Republicans that the party needs to do a better job of reaching out to minority voters if it wants to win future elections, saying that there really isn't much point in trying to do so because African American voters will always vote Democratic and there is nothing the GOP can do to change their minds.

As for Hispanic voters, Wildmon asserted that most of them care mainly about getting amnesty for their fellow Hispanics ... plus, "they are used to a socialist form of government in Mexico, which is big government welfare programs, so that is what they're going to vote for":

Joseph Farah Compares himself to Martin Luther King over his Voter Fraud Conspiracy Theory

Naturally, the far-right fringe is blaming Obama’s election victory on voter fraud. WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah released a new column which started with the line, “I am not a conspiracy theorist.” Farah said that Obama must have won through fraud because he won in states with Republican governors and legislatures, and also claimed that Obama “welcomed foreign contributions,” including one donation under “the name Osama bin Laden.” The bin Laden donation hoax has been debunked before – the Obama campaign notes that while some contributions “may have initially appeared to have gone through when the donor completed the transaction,” they were later rejected.

Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association and his fellow staff members appear to believe any conspiratorial column which reaches their desk, and so he once again invited Farah onto his radio show to explain how voter fraud swung the election to Obama, since it is inconceivable to them that the majority of Americans would vote for him.

But Farah said that WND’s possibly illegal donation to Obama using bin Laden’s name is just like “what Martin Luther King did, sometimes you’ve got to actually commit civil disobedience to get people’s attention to the injustices that are going on.”

Later, Wildmon talked about the decision by UPS to pull funding from the Boy Scouts of America over the group’s ban on openly gay members, which is making the prolific boycotters at the AFA consider a pressure campaign. Farah said that the decision is proof that the “culture is deteriorating” and urged Religious Right activists “to figure out how to reverse this or stop this real fast.”

Wildmon: Have you heard about the Boy Scouts and UPS?

Farah: I saw that and it’s just astonishing. It’s harder to get packages delivered—

Wildmon: I know, pretty soon we’re going to have to move to the mountains and live off the land. It really is and that’s why we here at the American Family Association, we don’t call for boycotts very often despite our reputation, and when we do we’re serious about it and we’ve exhausted every means of appeal to a particular company, like we have done with Home Depot and their sponsorship of gay pride parades. At the same time it doesn’t hurt to inform people about what these corporations do, if you don’t call for a boycott just let people know because if they do business with these companies and they might say if you do any business with UPS just tell your driver or your local office, ‘hey guys, you realize what you did, and I will have to consider how much business I see with you because of this,’ and that moves up the food chain.

Farah: Tim, I want you to think back to twenty years ago and try to imagine that we would have corporations essentially declaring war on the Boy Scouts of America.

Wildmon: We live in the Twilight Zone.

Farah: Try to imagine going back twenty years and you’d have a real powerful movement for same-sex marriage, and it’s actually winning now on ballot initiatives in several states, this is how rapidly the culture is deteriorating. It’s not happening in a vacuum, it’s happening because there are people and forces, powerful forces, that are making it happen and we have to figure out how to reverse this or stop this real fast.

Wildmon: That’s exactly right.

The Men of the American Family Association Explain how George Clooney Swung the Election to Obama

American Family Association president Tim Wildmon and research director Ed Vitagliano today spoke to WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah about how they are all still astonished that Obama won re-election. Vitagliano apparently did his research into the Obama campaigns strategies, and figured out that “they hooked women to Obama through these Hollywood stars” like George Clooney and Sarah Jessica Parker. Vitagliano said that our “devolved” culture has made women voters simply think, “‘I love George Clooney, George Clooney loves President Obama, therefore I love President Obama.’” Farah concurred and said Hollywood is “bombarding” Americans with “unconstitutional” and “ungodly” ideas, and asserted that even law schools no longer teach the Constitution.

Vitagliano: They said ‘what Hollywood star do women love’ and they found that they love overwhelmingly George Clooney, so what they did is they went and got George Clooney to have a dinner with President Obama and then they had a big fundraiser and they said to women, ‘if you want to have dinner with George Clooney and President Obama here is how much you pay per plate for this big fundraiser.’ They did the same thing in the east with Sarah Jessica Parker, who was a beloved icon of many women. So what they did, and it’s brilliant even while cynical, is they hooked women to Obama through these Hollywood stars. These women were saying well ‘George Clooney loves President Obama,’ and a fair number of them I’m guessing said, ‘so I love President Obama,’ and the same thing with Sarah Jessica Parker. That to me, and this is obviously an overstatement, that to me is not what the Founding Fathers envisioned that when they were hoping for a well-informed electorate being advised of the issues and studying the issues, no, what we’ve devolved to is ‘I love George Clooney, George Clooney loves President Obama, therefore I love President Obama.’

Farah: That’s right. We think these decisions that America made on Election Day every four years or every two years but they’re really not; how does George Clooney become this icon to women? How does Sarah Jessica Parker become an icon? That’s the culture that is operating 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, it’s bombarding us with these immoral, unprincipled, unconstitutional, ungodly ideals. That has an effect. You can’t deny that it has an effect. Who is speaking for God in our culture? Who is standing up for God in our culture? Who is standing up for the Constitution in our culture? Is it being taught in our law schools? Come on, it hasn’t been for years.

Farah argued that America is now facing God’s judgment and it is “going to get worse” because “the little pockets of blue are dictating to the big swaths of red.” Apparently, Farah hasn’t figured out that those “little pockets of blue” evidently have more people residing in them than the “big swaths of red” and that geographical size doesn’t determine population. Later, Wildmon expressed utter amazement that Americans re-elected Obama, and Farah said a person randomly selected from a phone book should have been able to defeat the President.

Farah: When you look at that election map and you see the big swaths of red and the little pockets of blue and the little pockets of blue are dictating to the big swaths of red. This isn’t new, this isn’t just in 2012, this has been the case for many, many years, every election in my lifetime has been like this but it’s getting worse. So what’s the answer? I think there’s only a couple of things we can do, we’ve talked about them before together, I think it is very important that Christians get down on their knees and tremble before God for what has happened to this country, what we’re going to be experiencing for the foreseeable future here and really take a good look at 2 Chronicles 7:14. That is not talking about the whole country coming to repentance, it’s talking about the people who are ‘called by my name,’ it’s us, it’s the believers, if we do this, God will answer. I really believe that, I think we have got to embrace that view very strongly in the days ahead. I do believe America is facing judgment and I think we’re in the midst of it and I think it’s going to get worse.

Wildmon: This was history made Tuesday night in this respect: a fellow won re-election for president who was by all measurements a failure, an utter and complete failure.

Farah: It’s so unbelievable, unthinkable, inconceivable, by what standard of measurement do the American people use to evaluate this guy? I mean if he was running against just some guy you picked out of the phone book you would have thought they would’ve rejected Obama because he is a complete and total failure.

Election Night With the AFA: Obama Won Because he Harnessed People's Capacity for Envy, Hate, & Greed

Like Glenn Beck, the American Family Association also hosted a live election night broadcast which took on a somber and sour mood once it became clear that the conservative agenda was going down in defeat all across the board, prompting Sandy Rios to say that Elizabeth Warren was elected to the Senate because Massachusetts had been inundated by gays who destroyed the educational system as she watched in horror the breaking news that Todd Akin was being "blown out" in his bid for the Senate.

Morton Blackwell was then brought in to explain that President Obama was going to win re-election because he "did not underestimate the capacity of people to harbor envy and hate and greed for something for nothing," while Bryan Fischer suggested that perhaps we ought to just split the country in half and let conservatives run their half and liberals run the other ... with a massive wall in between, of course, to keep out all the liberals who would try to sneak in.

For Tim Wildmon, Obama's re-election could best be explained by the fact that he was re-elected by the states where people don't go to church before finally simply declaring that "it's a tragic night":

Kirk Cameron: Defeat Obama to 'Hold Back the Flood of Moral and Spiritual Evil that has been Pouring into the Country'

Kirk Cameron told his fellow anti-Obama activists Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association that Christians must use the election to “hold back the flood of moral and spiritual evil that has been pouring into the country and give moms and dads and grandparents the opportunity to begin rebuilding morality and spirituality.” Wildmon added that Obama must be defeated for “freedom to reign.”

Perkins, who once claimed Obama voters must “repent,” described a conversation he had with prominent conservative pastor Jim Garlow about how God will grant America a “reprieve” and delay judgment if Obama is ousted. “I see what could happen here today if we are successful in removing someone from office who has basically set themselves in defiance to everything that is biblically oriented in terms of the history of our country and the word of God,” Perkins said, “that it’s a reprieve, it’s not a solution.”

He claimed that voters in 2008 “chose the economy over the moral foundation of the country when we selected Barack Obama as president,” arguing that an Obama defeat now could allow the church to “begin focusing on the moral and spiritual condition of our nation.”
