Yesterday on Truth that Transforms, the radio program of Truth in Action Ministries, Liberty Counsel chairman Mat Staver maintained that pastors in America are experiencing legal punishment for preaching against homosexuality. Staver claimed that the “homosexual rights agenda” is “without a question, the most significant threat to religious freedom that we face in the future.” He argued that gays and lesbians do not care about “tolerance” and “coexisting,” saying that “it has always been about dominance.” He went on to repeat the falsehood that organizations are being classified as anti-gay hate groups because of their position on marriage equality, when in fact the Southern Poverty Law Center, whose hate group classifications do not have legal weight, clearly notes that “not one of them was listed because of their position on same-sex marriage.”

Staver told host John Rabe that American pastors, as they supposedly are in Canada and Scandinavian countries, are facing legal penalties for speaking against gay rights. As Kyle pointed out when discussing a similar claim from David Barton, the “Hate Crimes Legislation was signed into law in October 2009 and not one pastor, priest, or preacher has yet been charged with a hate crime for preaching against homosexuality.”

Carmen Pate: What would you see as the greatest threat to our religious freedom here in America today?

Mat Staver: Well I think the greatest threat is the prevalence of the apathy that we sometimes have and just simply the lack of knowledge of the threat being there, I think that’s certainly the base line. Beyond that though I think that there is a clash that’s coming and it is very significant, and it is the clash between religious freedom and the homosexual rights agenda. There will be a winner and there will be a loser. And it’s not necessarily because of those who advocate religious freedom, it’s because of those who advocate the homosexual rights agenda. It’s no longer about tolerance and it never has been about tolerance, it’s never been about coexisting and so forth, it has always been about dominance. The dominance is that the homosexual rights agenda trumps everything else and if you disagree with it or if you have a different view, say for example even on marriage, then you will be labeled and you already see labels being thrown out there as a hate group, a hater. Someone that does not have the same access to a public facility, to have the same opportunity as a Christian club on campus or any other public venue or benefit that is otherwise open to people of various viewpoint except for your viewpoint because of your religious viewpoint, particularly as it relates to homosexuality. I think, without a question, the most significant threat to religious freedom that we face in the future.

John Rabe: If you look in countries, like some of the Scandinavian countries, what you’ve actually had pastors in churches being disciplined for standing up and offering a biblical perspective on homosexuality, or preaching from the bible about homosexuality, you’ve had cases in Canada where people are called before hate crimes tribunals for offering the biblical perspective. Is that something that could happen in the United States of America?

Mat Staver: Well it’s something that is happening in the United States of America and it is something that could escalate to a more significant level.

It really should come as no surprise that there is no depth to which Bryan Fischer will not sink in his relentless assault against all things gay, as he is now openly promoting the idea that the HIV virus is not the cause of AIDS.

Fisher dedicated two segments on his program yesterday to interviewing Peter Duesberg, author of "Inventing the AIDS Virus," who asserts that the idea that HIV causes AIDS was a scheme concocted by scientists in order to get research grants and that the symptoms attributed to AIDS are really caused by massive recreational drug use among gay men.

And it is a theory which Fischer wholeheartedly endorses:

The International House of Prayer’s Mike Bickle, who emceed Rick Perry’s prayer rally The Response, claims that Christians who are gay are opening themselves up to attacks from Satan. Bickle, who is best known for claiming that Oprah Winfrey is the harbinger of the Antichrist and arguing that the “gay marriage agenda” is “rooted in the depths of Hell,” recently said in an interview about homosexuality that gays and lesbians must “declare war” against their sexual orientation or will face “flaming missiles of the Evil One.” He warned that gays and lesbians, along with heterosexuals who have sex before marriage, who “give up and give in” will ultimately begin “denying the faith,” which “opens the door to the demonic realm to touch them.”

As Iowa State Director for the Ron Paul presidential campaign Mike Heath claims to have visited close to three hundred houses of worship on Paul’s behalf, more evidence of Heath’s rabidly anti-gay background while a Religious Right activist in Maine is coming to light. Before Maine’s marriage equality law was repealed, Heath contended that the legalization of same-sex marriage led to bad weather because “our elected officials overturned a law of nature, and in its place paid honor to evil and unnatural practices,” and Warren Throckmorton, who first uncovered that Paul was boasting about an endorsement from a pastor who advocates for the death penalty for gays and lesbians, notes that Heath was also the Board Chairman of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality, one of the most fringe and virulently anti-gay groups in the country.

In Maine, Heath urged the legislature to re-criminalize homosexuality, saying it would “be prudent to reinstate Maine’s anti-sodomy law,” and worked to overturn the state’s marriage equality law, declaring, “Homosexuality has absolutely nothing to do with marriage. Homosexuality is a sickness.”

In an interview with AFTAH president Peter LaBarbera last year, Heath said that homosexuality is not only “inconsistent with the Word of God but it’s inconsistent with biology and common sense,” and that “there is only one position on homosexuality and it’s the one that we take”:

He also alleged that homosexuality will “erode the strength of our nation”:

Heath even claimed that gay rights is “evil” and “nutty,” writing that the “‘gay’ ideology is going to go the way of the Berlin wall” and pledging, “I want Maine to be the place where the ‘gay’ wall starts to crumble.” Heath said that he intends to “take back” the rainbow flag from gay right advocates, saying: “God gave us the rainbow long before the sexual disorientation mob stole it. The rainbow reminds us of His mercy. He will never destroy the world again with a flood. Let's just the tell the loud mouth ‘gays’ that the Rainbow flag belongs to us now. It is a symbol of God's judgment that will fall on them if they persist in their sinful ways”:

Years ago we said the "gays" were going to go after the children. Everyone laughed thinking we were nuts.

In August the Maine Supreme Court perverted a nineteenth-century definition of adoption. They unanimously ruled that nineteenth century Mainers imagined homosexual adoption and allowed for it in their definition. Maine state government is now placing kids in "queer" homes through both the foster care and adoption systems.

There was never legislative approval for any of this, I don't believe. It was all created by unelected Judges and bureaucrats. The entire Middle School System in Maine is now moving toward the provision of prescription contraceptives to 11 year old girls without parental knowledge. Don't think that the King Middle School incident is the end of the story. No way. That is just the beginning. The only thing that will turn that around is a lawsuit that may be filed this Friday. The people of Portland, Christians especially, don't care enough to do ANYTHING. So, guess what. The political and cultural pressure is going to grow and grow. The tyranny of "gay" ideology has already silenced the church of Portland. It is only a matter of time before the cancer spreads throughout Maine.

You think John the Baptist is the only one in history to be silenced by a tyrant? It happens all the time. It isn't supposed to happen here. It is, however, already happening because Christians voluntarily silence themselves. Portland, our largest and most influential city, is leading the way. In the early nineties I compared Portland to Sodom. Little did I know.

While the front line of this war seems to be the schools the front line is actually the heart of every Christian in Maine. The front line is not the mind of the Christian. We already know the difference between right and wrong. The front line is our hearts. Do we care? Do we have the courage to do something about it?

Taxpayers are funding re-education groups called Civil Rights Teams in most of Maine's public schools. These communist-lite groups intimidate Christian faculty and students into silence about sexual immorality in the name of "civil rights." It is insane, and it is working. Evil is like that.

If we care more about our dogs and cats than our God-given obligation to raise our children and grandchildren up in the way they should go then God must be thinking about vocal chords for rocks.

You might conclude that I am not hopeful about Maine's future. Nothing could be further from the truth. This "gay" ideology is going to go the way of the Berlin wall. It is only a matter of time. It can't come soon enough for me. One person told me the backlash would come in five or ten years. As far as I'm concerned the backlash is going on right now. I'll never give in to these people, these evil ideas. Most Mainers feel the same way I do. They are going to speak. They are going to react. It is only a matter of time. Only a sad and pathetic minority embraces these nutty ideas about sex.

I want Maine to be the place where the "gay" wall starts to crumble. How about you? Lets take the word "gay" back from them. How about the rainbow? Lets take that back also.

The Maranacook Community School in Readfield has a rainbow flag hanging in their lobby. It was placed there by the school's noisy and pathetic "gay" rights student group. Rather than ask that a Christian flag be placed next to it, how about we just take the rainbow back. God gave us the rainbow long before the sexual disorientation mob stole it. Summit Ministries founder David Noebel is out with yet another screed against LGBT rights, this time attacking the Obama administration for pushing back against attempts to criminalize and persecute gays and lesbians abroad. “Obama and his radical homosexual mafia plan to sodomize the world and make such perversion seem as wholesome as apple pie and vanilla ice cream,” Noebel writes, “In reality, such perversion cannot be printed in a family publication or broadcast on any FCC regulated TV or radio stations.”

Like the many other Religious Right activists who have fiercely denounced the human rights initiative, Noebel said that the policy reflects “insanity” and claimed that the “Democrat party espouses a shameless morality in the direct line of Rehoboam, king of Judah, who ‘did evil in the eyes of the LORD.’” Noebel goes on to say that no evangelical Christian should be able to “stomach his or her president traveling around the world preaching and praising ‘safe sodomy’ for every nation”:

While evangelicals are being told that social issues are off the table in this election cycle the leftists (communists, socialists, progressives) continue to preach their social agenda not only to America, but to the whole world.

According to their leaders, Barack H. Obama and Hillary Clinton, the United States is going to use "all the tools of American diplomacy to promote gay rights around the world!" (New York Times, December 6, 2011).

So America, already in the business of "queering" elementary school children (thanks again to Obama's appointing Kevin Jennings to czar-ship), has decided now is the time to make the whole world safe for sodomy, thanks to the radical homosexual establishment.

The Democrat party espouses a shameless morality in the direct line of Rehoboam, king of Judah, who "did evil in the eyes of the LORD" (I Kings 14:24f). His evil-doing was twofold: building pagan "high places" where sex was worshiped under the watchful eyes of Baal and Asherah, and allowing the sodomites to imitate "all the abominations of the nations the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel." Isn't it interesting that God tells Israel that He did not want to see any "unclean thing amongst them" including no daughter of Israel was to be a harlot and no son of Israel was to be a sodomite! (Deut. 23:14-17).

Yet with all this clear Biblical teaching 28 percent of evangelicals voted for Barack H. Obama, the most pro-homosexual, pro-abortion, and pro-socialist/communist president in the history of American politics. And for those doubting my "pro-socialist/communist" comment see Aaron Klein and Brenda J. Elliott's Red Army!

What rational evangelical could countenance voting for such an ethical tower of Babel? What evangelical could stomach his or her president traveling around the world preaching and praising "safe sodomy" for every nation? To what level of insanity have we arrived?

Yesterday on Crosstalk, Vic Eliason of Voice of Christian Youth America dedicated the program to fighting gay rights and reading from Linda Harvey’s “Top Ten Gay Abuses of 2011.” Eliason concluded the segment by calling on the church to prepare children to challenge “the Sodom and Gomorrah lifestyle” because children in schools are facing “repeated bombardment to their little minds of diversity and acceptivity and of course using the term ‘bullying’ to deal even with the acceptance of homosexual practice.” Eliason recently used his program to lash out against transgender rights, which he said would lead people to try to become animals, and to denounce the Obama administration’s advocacy of rights for LGBT people abroad as proof that “the inmates have taken over the asylum.”

Eliason: This is not a pleasant topic to deal with, but I would implore pastors, deacons, elders within your churches to take a serious look about addressing this issue very clearly about this sin of immorality, of perversion. You have boys and girls within your churches that are sitting 22-25 hours a week in school hearing time and time and time again the repeated bombardment to their little minds of diversity and acceptivity and of course using the term ‘bullying’ to deal even with the acceptance of homosexual practice. But there needs to be an effort in sharing biblical, moral views with children who are being pressured by the society, by teachers who by decree and by demands of the system are teaching, and in California even having to teach homosexual lifestyle in a positive sense. If there is ever a time when we within the church structure, within the family of God, need to take the time to prepare our young people for the Sodom and Gomorrah lifestyle that is hanging just—no it’s not right around the corner—it’s here, it’s right now.

Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality joined Janet Mefferd yesterday for an hour of attacking LGBT rights and urgently praying for gays and lesbians to be freed from Satan’s captivity. Mefferd dedicated to help “set LGBT people free from the sin and the bondage that The Enemy has them in” and prayed that gays receive her message so they don’t end up in Hell, which she called a reflection of her love for LGBT people:

Like other conservative activists, LaBarbera condemned the Navy for allowing Petty Officer 2nd Class Marissa Gaeta kiss her girlfriend, Petty Officer 3rd Class Citlalic Snell, after winning a raffle for the traditional first-off-the-ship kiss. LaBarbera claimed that the military was sanctioning “indecent behavior” and that a photo of the couple should be considered an “indecent photo,” lamenting the event as a “sad day”:

LaBarbera: As far as the lowlights, I have to say that the worse would be what’s happened in the military, we just saw the story—we were talking about it off air—of the traditional first kiss of a Navy ship just went to two lesbians intentionally. Under Obama’s Navy, lesbians get the first traditional kiss; the sailor comes off the boat greeted by his spouse which is a woman usually, man-woman, woman-man, but now under Obama this political correctness we’re going to pretend that homosexuality belongs in the military. And actually Obama posted the photo of these two women kissing on his Flickr page which to me is another first—a president posting an indecent photo on his Flickr page because homosexual sex and homosexual practice is still indecent. It doesn’t matter what the trends say what the political correctness says, it matters what the truth is, and we go by the word of God and that’s indecent behavior. And to see our president glorifying it and saying this is one of his greatest accomplishments is really a sad day.

Mission America president Linda Harvey today released her much-awaited top ten list of “‘gay’ abuses” (scare quotes hers), with the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell topping the list. Also on the list are same-sex parents who have a transgender child; the firing of a Macy’s employee who refused to follow the company’s policy on LGBT customers; the next five condemned California’s passage of SB 48, which ensures that history textbooks don’t exclude prominent LGBT figures, the Obama administration’s push to stop the criminalization of homosexuality and state-sanctioned violence against LGBT people around the world; and the anti-suicide “It Gets Better” video series and the decision by the Justice Department not to defend the unconstitutional Defense of Marriage Act. Many of these initiatives Harvey has already criticized.

The repeal of the discriminatory Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy is at the top of the list even though no incidents have been reported. Harvey warned that soldiers may be led by a “prancing drill sergeant” and people who have “truly lost their way, their shame, their innate sense of God's touch on and design for their lives.” Harvey warned that advances in gay rights will lead to America’s “decline into barbarism” and that they represent a “radical ideology” that is “purposely endangering families, children, our nation’s security, our economy and the religious freedom of all who don’t go along.”

Harvey goes on to caution that “God has warned us” about “this destructive agenda,” arguing that “these sinful impulses will end in catastrophe”:

And the No. 1 abuse of homosexual activism in the United States in 2011, was the implementation of the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," allowing open homosexual behavior in our military. No one can yet know how damaging the repeal of the ban on sodomy will be – we can only guess – but there's no question that it will damage the character of our armed forces and undermine their effectiveness. Dare I say the obvious? We need non-effeminate men in the military. Does anyone really believe that a prancing drill sergeant won't detract from readiness? Where women are serving, they should be women of high character, not those who embrace homosexual conduct and publicly declare a "sin" identity. These folks have truly lost their way, their shame, their innate sense of God's touch on and design for their lives.

Friends, this list is a call to action. We need to first understand the decline into barbarism that homosexual and sex-change activism brings. Then, we need to each be that person who gets it, who understands that these folks with their radical ideology are purposely endangering families, children, our nation's security, our economy and the religious freedom of all who don't go along.

God has warned us in the pages of Scripture that these sinful impulses will end in catastrophe. It's not true that this is just another way to love, but these activists, as you can see, intend to overturn the beauty of traditional sexual morality.

Please join me in pledging to speak out against this destructive agenda wherever possible during 2012.

The Family Research Council today announced a Family Policy Lecture with author and radio show host Michael Brown next month where he will address the “the homosexual agenda” and “a clear and Christian response,” because “if we don’t do what is right today, we will have to apologize to our children and grandchildren tomorrow.” “Forty years ago, most Americans said they didn't know anyone who was homosexual and claimed to know little or nothing about homosexuality,” the FRC said in a statement, “Today, there’s hardly a sitcom without a prominent gay character and even school children are learning the meaning of ‘Gender: Queer.’

Brown’s hostility to gays and lesbians will surely be welcomed by the aggressively anti-gay group, as he previously claimed that “gay activism” was to blame for the brutal murder of the openly gay California teenager Lawrence King and “hypersensitive” gays intend to throw Christians “in jail.” Hopefully, FRC will show the trailer to his book, A Queer Thing Happened to America, where a young boy enters the nightmarish world of having same-sex parents:

The FRC urges attendees to leave “retreat mode” and “stand up and be counted”:

At a time when it is more important than ever for Christians to stand up and be counted, many of us seem to be in retreat mode. We do not want to sound offensive or be considered "irrelevant." But retreat spells defeat, and when we willingly shut ourselves out of public debate, we reward intimidation.

The public debate about marriage and the homosexual agenda continues. But if we don't do what is right today, we will have to apologize to our children and grandchildren tomorrow.
