Todd Akin, Darling of the Religious Right, Wins Senate Primary

Missouri congressman Todd Akin eked out a win last night over  two rivals in the Republican primary for U.S. Senate, adding to a list of Religious Right backed candidates winning competitive primaries, including Richard Mourdock of Indiana and Ted Cruz of Texas. Akin is more than just a dogmatic conservative-- he's a darling of the Religious Right, earning perfect 100% ratings from the Family Research Council, National Right to Life and Concerned Women for America . Akin has also worked Religious Right with activists Tony Perkins, Janet Porter, Rick Scarborough, Tom DeLay and David Barton, who even recorded an ad on his behalf.

Akin gained notoriety after he told Perkins on his radio show that “at the heart of liberalism really is a hatred for God,” a remark he refused to apologize for.

The congressman is also a virulent opponent of LGBT rights, pushing a ban on same-sex unions of any form in the military and as Think Progress noted, has co-sponsored nearly every piece of anti-gay legislation in the current House session. He thinks that “the liberal agenda has infiltrated our military” due to the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and tried to overturn Washington, D.C.’s marriage equality law.

He took to the House Floor in 2006 with a warning that “anybody who knows something about the history of the human race knows that there is no civilization which has condoned homosexual marriage widely and openly that has long survived.”

In a documentary for Truth in Action Ministries, he claimed that the left “will snuff out the light of freedom” by “rewriting the history of America,” and warned that the health care reform law is “an unbiblical threat” that violated the Ten Commandments. Akin even believes that Medicare is unconstitutional, wants to eliminate the Departments of Education and Energy and the Environmental Protect Agency, wants to impeach judges for “making decisions not based on the U.S. Constitution,” and likens student loan reform to “stage three cancer.”

Akin said that Thanksgiving should be remembered as a day to renounce “unbiblical” socialism and that the U.S. should use the Pilgrim society as a model because the Pilgrims used the Bible as a “blueprint” for economic, education and government policies.

He consistently pushes anti-choice legislation and even said that legal abortion is the reason for illegal immigration: “If you think about it we’ve aborted however many – 40 million – Americans through abortion. If those Americans had not been aborted, we might have more laborers here. Consequently, America is not reproducing itself in terms of our own internal repopulation of having a bunch of kids.”

Akin thanked God and Mike Huckabee for his primary success in his victory statement:

First, I want to give thanks to God our Creator who has blessed this campaign, heard your prayers, and answered them with victory. Through the months, we have seen frequent instances of His blessing and are reminded that with Him all things are possible!

I also wanted to thank Governor Mike Huckabee, who was with us from the start, stayed by our side, lifted us up in prayer, and tonight celebrates with us in victory. Governor Huckabee – I thank you, my family thanks you, and our volunteers thank you for your dedication to our campaign and devotion to saving the America we love.

From the depths of my heart I want to thank every single volunteer who served in our campaign and brought our winning message to the people of Missouri. Tonight one campaign ends…tomorrow another begins.

Barber: Gay Activists are 'Deceived by the Enemy of the World, Satan'

On Friday, Matt Barber called in to "AFA Today" with Buster Wilson to discuss the success of Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day as well as efforts by gay activists to organize "kiss-ins" at Chick-fil-A restaurants across the country.

The latter efforts, Barber explained, were being done because "homosexual activists are in rebellion against God" and they are trying "dampen the internal turmoil [and] confliction in their soul" because they know they are engaging in "abominable" behavior.

As such, they lash out with "this disgusting, vile offensive behavior" and do so be "they are deceived by the Enemy of the World ... Satan":

Linda Harvey: Boycott Everybody!

The Religious Right has claimed that the protests over Chick-fil-A’s anti-gay stances amount to an attack on freedom, religion, and all things good. Of course, many of the groups making that charge, like the National Organization for Marriage and the American Family Association, are simultaneously leading aggressive boycott and pressure campaigns against companies they don’t like because of the company’s views on gay rights. Yet they seem oblivious to any double standard. Today, Mission America president Linda Harvey made our point for us when she went on to list just a handful of the companies, such as Starbucks, Home Depot, JC Penney, Target and Macy’s, which have faced the ire of anti-gay groups:

‘We are committed to being a store for all Americans,’ that’s the quote from a spokesman for JC Penney who told the Wall Street Journal this was the company rationale for recently launching several highly visible pro-homosexual marketing campaigns. The problem is, it’s not true. JC Penney is apparently no longer a store for all Americans and has now become a store only for those who aren’t offended by in-your-face support of just plain deviance. There are plenty of Americans who see the JC Penney choice of Ellen DeGeneres as a spokeswoman to be a blatant insult, a bad role model for families, and an endorsement of homosexual political goals.

The pro-family group One Million Moms has called for a boycott of JC Penney because the retailer, not resting with the Ellen DeGeneres move, also featured a lesbian couple in a magazine ad in may for Mother’s Day and two homosexual men in a June catalogue for Father’s Day. Starbucks recently donated and verbally supported the push against marriage in the state of Washington. So a group that supports traditional male-female marriage, National Organization for Marriage, has started a website called DumpStarbucks.com. Now Target is selling same-sex wedding cards featuring ‘Mr. & Mr.’ even though most states have rejected homosexual so-called marriage, Target is selling them nationwide. And of course there is a long history now of pro-homosexual actions by Home Depot, so much so that the American Family Association is calling for a Home Depot boycott. Then there’s Macy’s who showed where their loyalties lie by firing a female employee last Fall who turned away a man from the woman’s dressing room. The man claimed he was a transgender person, a guy dressing as a woman, and unbelievably Macy’s supported him rather than side with their brave of employee who was acting on her religious rights. No, in a head to head match up these days, the rise of homosexuals and cross-dresses is winning in some companies instead of decency, common sense and morality,

Harry Jackson: Gays 'Want to Recruit Your Kids,' Conservative Christians Must 'Steal Back the Rainbow'

Speaking at Glenn Beck’s Under God Indivisible Conference, anti-gay Bishop Harry Jackson unleashed a screed against marriage equality and called upon Christians to unite against gay rights in a new ‘rainbow coalition’, saying that religious leaders must “steal back the rainbow. We can’t let the gays have it.” Jackson was apparently not referencing the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, a civil rights organization founded by Rev. Jesse Jackson.

Jackson, a key figure in the Religious Right’s outreach to African American Christians, has previously said that gay rights advocates are trying to recruit young people “just like during the times of Hitler,” and that gay marriage is part of a “satanic plot” to destroy the family.

Watch:

If marriage is redefined, then the family is redefined, is redefined, who has children and how that operates is redefined, if the family is redefined then education is redefined. That’s how you “Heather has two mommies” being taught to 2nd graders and eight-year-old kids in Massachusetts and California, and folks who cannot reproduce want to recruit your kids. What we’re facing is a radical force of people that want to change the way America looks for the next twenty years and we’re going to have to stop this thing now.

It’s gonna take a black and brown revolution, us working together in a broader, what I want to call, a rainbow coalition, a new rainbow coalition. We need to steal back the rainbow. We can’t let the gays have it. We’re the rainbow coalition. We’re the army of god. We’re the covenant people of god. We have got to break the division that has tried to keep us apart. I guarantee you if we united in this generation, we’ll unite in this season, nothing shall be impossible to us, the church of the living god, and we are going to take back America in the name of the lord Jesus Christ. Yes! Come on let’s say it, ‘yes we can, say it yes we can!’

Sheldon: Glee is Working to 'Desensitize Americans to the Genuine Risks of the Homosexual Agenda'

Last month, Charisma posted and edited an article by Alan Chambers of Exodus International that he has since disavowed about the “gaying of the United States.” Now Charisma has posted an article by Louis Sheldon, the founder of the Traditional Values Coalition entitled “The Plan for a Gay (Domi) Nation,” where he lamented that young evangelicals Christians have become more open to gay rights and don’t see homosexuality and the Christian faith as incompatible. He also warned that the gay community is using shows like Glee to “desensitize Americans to the genuine risks of the homosexual agenda.”

Last year alumni from Wheaton College—what used to be the heart of conservative evangelicalism—made headlines for forming an organization to not only support the gay community, but also to promote the belief that homosexuality and Christianity are compatible. As on Christian college campuses throughout the United States, they have once again succeeded in convincing believers that Jesus’ command to “love your neighbor” means turning a blind eye to what the Bible explicitly calls an “abomination.”

“They” aren’t just Wheaton alumni or those who have formed similar groups—both official and unofficial—at Baylor, Harding, Samford, Seattle Pacific and a host of other universities and colleges. They would be the activists who have masterfully driven the gay agenda for more than 30 years and, with remarkable success and precision, changed our nation’s cultural mindset on homosexuality.

From kindergartens to city councils to churches to the Supreme Court, the mainstreaming of homosexuality has reshaped everything in America. And one of the most powerful vehicles by which the gay agenda has accomplished this is media. The first television network program to feature a homosexual character in an ongoing role was the soap opera One Life to Live in 1992. By 1999, there were 25 sitcoms or daytime dramas with homosexual characters. Without exception, these characters were portrayed as witty, clever, lovable and just a little quirky.

It’s perfectly clear what the Hollywood writers and producers were doing—grinding away at public morality, using comedy as a vehicle to overcome the natural resistance of adults, and playing on the curiosity and credulity of children. By sheer persistence, the gay-friendly media have been forcing Americans to accept homosexuality as a normal and natural choice, whether they believe it or not.

Today, based on the large number of primetime TV shows that currently feature openly gay characters, you have to believe that the most favored and most protected type of sexuality is homosexuality. Over the last decade, overtly pro-gay programs such as Will and Grace, Queer as Folk, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, The L Word and Glee have been designed to desensitize Americans to the genuine risks of the homosexual agenda. Again, homosexuals are invariably portrayed as funny, sensitive and caring individuals.

At the same time, critics of homosexuality are portrayed as bigoted and ignorant homophobes who have to learn to accept homosexuality as a valid lifestyle choice. Yet behind the scenes, how many people realize that organizations such as the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation actually have veto power over many of these scripts and can actually force directors and producers to rewrite dialogue that casts an unflattering light on homosexuals?

Linda Harvey: Lady Gaga, Office Depot Partnership 'Endangers the Welfare of Children'

Last week, we noted that despite their feigned shock at gay rights’ groups Chick-fil-A boycott, Religious Right groups boycott companies all the time, and today, Mission America president Linda Harvey added her name to a pressure campaign against Office Depot backed by the American Family Association and the Florida Family Association, protesting the chain’s partnership with Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation. According to Harvey, selling products with messages like “Be Brave,” “Be Kind” and “Be Yourself” is a “deceptive” scheme “to link children to homosexuality, which is deeply wrong.” She urged listeners to boycott Office Depot until it stops “corrupting our kids” by “misleading kids to accept this harmful behavior.”

There’s another business parents need to avoid these days, especially for back to school shopping. Office Depot has decided to team up with Lady Gaga and her new pro-homosexual, non-profit group. Office Depot will be pushing rainbow colored products with messages that encourage the deviance of homosexuality while giving untruthful information to kids. Just to give some background, Lady Gaga has become quite a supporter of the homosexual political agenda, including the many ways children and teens are being deceived about these lifestyles. She jumped on board in a big way with a song called Born This Way and then followed up by starting the Born This Way Foundation. The goal, the group’s website says, is to ‘foster a more accepting society, where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. The Foundation is dedicated to creating a safe community that helps connect young people with the skills and opportunities they need to build a kinder, braver world.’ It sounds noble but the reality is that they want to link children to homosexuality, which is deeply wrong.

The American Family Association is asking people to call and email Office Depot and tell them to ‘leave our kids alone.’ I agree and I would add one more thing. Office Depot needs to stop trying to soft sell harmful, deviant behavior, and also stop using deceptive terms like ‘safe’ and ‘brave’ in connection to homosexuality. These kids are not victims, they all deserve respectful guidance away from these behaviors and people who oppose homosexuality are not unsupportive. Office Depot is implying that it’s brave to openly identify as homosexual: this is not simply untrue; it’s an idea that endangers the welfare of children. The campaign also implies that if kids don’t support their peers who are involved in homosexual behavior, they contribute to an unsafe environment and aren’t brave like the ones who do.

This is the worst kind of propaganda: pointing kids towards deviance and immorality while calling it courageous and brave. Parents need to keep kids away from such nonsense. Here’s where we stand: Mission America supports punishment for all incidents of bullying, period, for all reasons; at the same time, we absolutely reject the false and discriminatory idea that traditional morality somehow causes bullying. This is about as valid as saying that healthy nutrition programs cause the bullying incidents unleashed on kids who are overweight. No, troubled kids are the ones who bully and these incidents need to be punished when they happen.

Let’s expose the deceptive idea these people would lead kids to, and that is that schools should exercise viewpoint discrimination against Christians and conservatives, it’s deceptive hysteria to promote an agenda, one that is corrupting our kids. No one is born homosexual, there’s no credible evidence for this. Homosexuality continues to be unnatural behavior, no matter how many celebrities support it…. Tell [Office Depot] to stop misleading kids to accept this harmful behavior and be sure to shop for back to school items at a different store.

Thomas More Law Center Names Michele Bachmann to Advisory Board

After adding Rep. Allen West to its advisory board, the Thomas More Law Center has found another rabidly anti-Muslim member of Congress to join its group: Michele Bachmann. The group, best known for its unsuccessful lawsuit against Planned Parenthood and the Shepard-Byrd hate crimes law as well as its botched defense of a Pennsylvania’s school’s Intelligent Design curriculum, as of late has tried to appeal to anti-Muslim sentiments. The group believes that Islam is trying to “destroy America,” demanded a state investigation into the sale of a school to a Muslim group, and thinks that a school teaching Arabic will train kids to become terrorists. When not attacking the rights of Muslim-Americans, the group warns that Christians will soon be imprisoned due to hate crimes laws and that the “homosexual agenda” will cause America to “disintegrate.”

Seeing that Michele Bachmann has built her career on anti-gay advocacy and is currently smearing Muslim-Americans in the Obama administration by calling for McCarthy-like investigations, it is no surprised that she has decided to work with the group in their fight against “the internal threat to America posed by radical Islam.”

In accepting service on the Advisory Board, Congresswoman Bachmann stated, "I am pleased to join forces with the Thomas More Law Center. They are in the courts aggressively fighting the internal threat to America posed by radical Islam."

Congresswoman Bachmann is a member of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. As a member of that Committee, she has steadfastly advocated for peace through strength to ensure America's national security.

Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, commented, "We are honored to have the counsel of a tough, tested, true American patriot; a person who puts her country above politics, party and political correctness. She understands and shares our concerns about the internal threat to our nation posed by Stealth Jihad as well as maintaining the Judeo-Christian values that made this nation 'the shining city on the hill.'"

Michele Bachmann is the mother of five and the foster mother of 23. As a believer in the traditional values upon which this country was founded, she consistently defends traditional marriage, the importance of the family as the first unit of government, and the right to life for all Americans, including the unborn.

Bachmann expressed her strong commitment to America's Judeo-Christian heritage and values: "I am honored to stand with the Thomas More Law Center as they engage in the legal battles to uphold the Judeo-Christian values upon which our country was founded."

WND Columnist Warns Gay Rights Advocates will Bring About the Next Holocaust

WorldNetDaily columnist and regular Fox News guest Erik Rush warns that the protests against Chick-fil-A by gay rights advocates represent a reappearance of the Nazi Party's tactics against Germany's Jewish population. He said the left wants to use the issue of gay rights to distract from economic problems, turning Christians into scapegoats that are targeted for extermination: “the goal here is absolute power, the primary objective to supplant God with government. To achieve this, religious doctrine must be eradicated, and the chief impediment to that is Christianity.”

He claims that homosexuality is a tool to grow the size of government, arguing that “replacing normalcy with deviance and morality with immorality are simply methods toward disenfranchising Christians, resulting in the convenient byproduct of a populace that is governed by its basest instincts – and thus easily controlled. As we have seen, such populations become willing to tolerate – and even participate in – all manner of atrocities.” “It began with a boycott of their businesses” Rush writes, “and the rest is history.”

In April of 1933, the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (Nazi Party) in Germany began a nationwide boycott of Jewish businesses; this occurred shortly after Adolf Hitler became chancellor of that nation. The official program of discrimination was the first of many measures with which most Americans of my generation are familiar, and which ended with the Holocaust.

In keeping with the uncannily Orwellian tack American liberals have taken, the war on Christianity that has been in progress for decades (in earnest for the last several years) was denied with such vigor that even some conservative pundits questioned its existence. Lately, however, outrageously discriminatory, blatantly hypocritical campaigns against individuals and businesses professing Christian values have been initiated by those on the left. These have made it obvious to all but the profoundly dull that a war on Christianity is indeed in progress.

Considering the perilous position whereupon our economy currently teeters, President Obama’s dismal record and his administration’s quiet communist coup, I do believe there is a certain diversionary component to this chicken-chain debacle. As with much of the sycophantic press’ dubious reporting in general, their imperative of redirecting voters’ attention from Obama’s wretchedness as a president is painfully evident.

The advent of socialist totalitarianism – as evidenced by the incremental persecution of Christians and other recent events – is, without question, a far more serious matter than where chicken chain executives’ sentiments lie regarding homosexuality.

Arguments over homosexual unions, like so many contentious issues advanced by the left, are diversionary by nature, apart from their current implementation for this election cycle. This is because the goal here is absolute power, the primary objective to supplant God with government. To achieve this, religious doctrine must be eradicated, and the chief impediment to that is Christianity.

Leftists continue to carp about Republicans, Christians and conservatives in general wishing to oppress gays, disenfranchise minorities, deny women’s reproductive rights, outsource jobs, reduce wages and benefits, empower Wall Street and the rich and, of course, institute a Christian theocracy. These charges might have been amusing to conservatives 20 years ago, but now they illustrate that we are now witnessing the sifting of the evil, the dangerously deluded and the grotesquely stupid. While the dangerously deluded and the grotesquely stupid among liberals may be hapless pawns, it is the evil with whom we should be concerned.

Replacing normalcy with deviance and morality with immorality are simply methods toward disenfranchising Christians, resulting in the convenient byproduct of a populace that is governed by its basest instincts – and thus easily controlled. As we have seen, such populations become willing to tolerate – and even participate in – all manner of atrocities.

During the 2004 campaign season, I recall video of entertainer and celebrated fag hag* Chér telling a predominantly homosexual audience that George W. Bush would ship homosexuals off to death camps in cattle cars were he re-elected. I do know that this did not actually occur, but that vast numbers of European Jews did suffer that very fate once upon a time.

It began with a boycott of their businesses … and the rest is history.

Pat Robertson Sticks up for Chick-fil-A, Says Gays Make People 'Feel like they are Unwelcome'

To mark “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,” Pat Robertson chided gay rights advocates on the 700 Club today for protesting the restaurant chain’s anti-gay activism. He said that he predicted that a group, in this case the gay community, will move from the “fringes” to the mainstream of society but ultimately “turn on the mainstream,” making those “who are traditionalists feel like they are unwelcome, and that’s exactly what’s happening.” Co-host Kristi Watts in her reaction to the controversy said “the Bible talks about in the later days the truth becomes a lie and the lie becomes the truth, and that really is the essence of what we’re dealing with right now.” Robertson warned that “the gays have just gotten the media megaphone and they’re shouting” at Chick-fil-A’s CEO for his anti-gay statements, “is it going to get worse? I hope not.”

Mike Huckabee and Conservative Activists Attack Democratic Party's Marriage Equality Stance

Joining televangelist Pat Robertson who earlier today said that same-sex marriage will be the “death knell” of the Democratic Party, Mike Huckabee and other leading conservatives have denounced the party’s decision to include marriage equality in its platform. Huckabee told Tim Wildmon of the American Family Association that the move is the “best thing that’s ever happened to the Republican Party” and “may end up sinking the ship.” He said that while people tolerate people who “choose to live in lifestyles that they don’t necessarily agree with or approve of,” they are “no longer going to support” President Obama or the Democrats for having “openly declared war on biblical marriage.” “It’s to me a very tragic day,” Huckabee maintained, “when we’re so interested in getting votes form a certain community and the contributions that they’re willing to forego their own principles and just throw them overboard.”

Watch:

William Owens of the right-wing Coalition of African-American Pastors and a liaison for the National Organization for Marriage at the National Press Conference today claimed that Obama has gone down “a disgraceful road” and compared homosexuality to pedophilia:

“The time has come for a broad-based assault against the powers that be that want to change our culture to one of men marrying men and women marrying women,” said Owens, in an interview Tuesday after the launch event at the National Press Club. “I am ashamed that the first black president chose this road, a disgraceful road.”

“If you watch the men who have been caught having sex with little boys, you will note that all of them will say that they were molested as a child…” Owens said. “For the president to condone this type of thing is irresponsible.”

At the Tuesday press conference, Owens questioned Obama’s commitment to black Americans, stating that the president is just “half-black, half-white” and has long “ignored the black press.”

He is “ignoring the people that put him in the White House,” Owens said.

Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council urged Romney not to “shy away from making a clear distinction with President Obama and the Democrats on this issue.”

Thirty-two out of thirty-two states where voters have weighed in on the issue have upheld marriage as the union of one man and one woman. If President Obama were to lose those 32 states, he would face an electoral debacle. In addition, while opposition to same-sex 'marriage' may have become politically incorrect in the Democratic Party at the national level, there are many Democratic members of Congress, and office-holders further down the ticket, who live in states and districts where it will be a serious disadvantage to be identified with 'the gay marriage party.'

Gov. Romney, who has signed a pledge to support a marriage protection amendment to the U.S. Constitution, should not shy away from making a clear distinction with President Obama and the Democrats on this issue.

As always, the American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer didn’t hold back in his column, warning that through its decision to “embrace moral perversion” it has “sealed its own doom and relegated itself to the ash heap of history” as its founder Thomas Jefferson “must be rolling over in his personal parchment copy of the Declaration of Independence.”

Rarely can you identify a moment in time at which a major political party sealed its own doom and relegated itself to the ash heap of history. Today is that day for the Democratic Party. The party of Thomas Jefferson, who once wrote a law calling for the castration of those who committed the infamous crime against nature, has now enshrined sodomy-based marriage in its party platform.

Jefferson must be rolling over in his personal parchment copy of the Declaration of Independence, which celebrates the unalienable, God-given right to liberty, not licentiousness.

We know from data collected by the Centers for Disease Control that homosexual conduct is as dangerous to human health as intravenous drug abuse. Of all the men ever diagnosed with HIV/AIDS since the “epidemic” began, 90% contracted it either through having sex with other men (60%), injection drug use (22%) or both (8%). Thus the Democratic Party has made a noble virtue out of behavior that is immoral, unnatural, and unhealthy, and will destroy the lives of those who engage in it.

For the Democratic Party to enshrine the infamous crime against nature in its party platform is the final nail in the coffin of a party that in its history has defended slavery and racism (the KKK was a Democratic institution) and filibustered Civil Rights legislation in the 1960s. This move signals its permanent slide into political oblivion.

Every Democratic candidate for the House and the Senate needs to be pinned down by both the media and Republican opponents. The GOP needs to hang gay marriage like an anvil around the neck of every Democratic candidate for higher office. Any Democrat who tries to swim with that tied around his neck will find his candidacy seeking to the bottom of the sea. Republicans, force them to declare themselves, and either embrace moral perversion or reject their own party.

Liberty Counsel Jumps on the Boycott Hypocrisy Bandwagon

The anti-gay group Liberty Counsel has a history of supporting boycotts and organizing similar pressure campaigns, targeting companies like McDonalds, Pay Pal, Starbucks, Lowe’s and any retailer that doesn’t say the word “Christmas” enough. But much like their allies at the National Organization for Marriage and the American Family Association, LC now believes that boycotts and pressure campaigns are only acceptable if they are the ones organizing them. Objecting to protests against Chick-fil-A for its record of anti-gay advocacy and financing of anti-gay groups, LC now is running a petition denouncing potential boycotters.

LC’s Matt Barber, who led a news conference outside of McDonalds’ corporate headquarters protesting the company’s support for the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and declared that “anyone who supports traditional marriage should boycott McDonalds,” today attacked boycotters of Chick-fil-A while wondering if the Muppets are gay, linking homosexuality to pedophilia, and comparing same-sex couples to Christmas lights:

Forget about Bert and Ernie. I always thought Kermit the Frog was a little “light in the flippers,” if you know what I mean. Miss Piggy? Probably just cover (wink wink, nudge nudge, say no more). And, how about that perennial bachelor, Fozzie Bear? Wocka Wocka, indeed.

Or not.

I don’t know.

Still, a recent move by The Jim Henson Company makes you wonder. In a distinctly knee-jerk, anti-family development, the Muppet mogul has severed promotional ties with Chick-fil-A – the booming fast-food chain and American Cinderella story. The multi-billion dollar company has stirred the ire of left-wing extremists in recent days.

Cathy’s statement was all it took. The “progressive” establishment had a mouth-frothing, water-meets-Wicked-Witch-of-the-West meltdown. They’ve charged the battlefield with that characteristic slash-and-burn, seek-and-destroy style and grace we’ve come to expect.

“Boycott Chick-fil-A!” shrieked the ever-tolerant, oh-so-enlightened sexual-anarchist troglodytes. “Bigots! Haters! Homophobes!” (You know; same pointless pap, different day.)

That’s the thing about liberalism – about political correctness. It exists in the realm of fantasy. It’s a barrier to truth. “Progressivism” comprises a farcical assortment of pseudo-utopian ideals that reflect how postmodern leftists want things to be, rather than how things actually are.

They float the propagandist idiom “marriage equality” – choosing all the while to ignore objective “marriage reality.”

So-called “same-sex marriage”? A counterfeit. It’s like taking a rotten apple, spray-painting it orange, and then calling it an orange. “Gay marriage” is no more real marriage then a rotten apple is an orange.

It’s unavoidable. Marriage is, by definition, the joining of two complementary opposites – two “others.” Consider Christmas lights. When you string them together you necessarily “marry” the male end with the female end. It defies logic and physics to try and force a male-male or female-female connection. There can be no real connection. Sure, you can employ some artificial mechanism – say, superglue or duct tape – to create a mock connection, but the lights don’t work, and the duct tape eventually gives out. Not to mention that it’s aesthetically off-putting.

“Gay marriage” is mock marriage. It’s fantasy – a dead end. Even a child knows this intuitively and, in their heart-of-hearts, lefties and “gay” activists know it, too. That’s why they respond so violently when people snicker at it or, as in the case of Dan Cathy, even respectfully acknowledge that it’s not grounded in reality.

In the wake of the Penn State scandal surrounding Jerry Sandusky’s homosexual assault on dozens of young boys, the Boy Scouts of America moved to protect children by re-affirming its prohibition against scoutmasters who live a homosexual lifestyle. Although they didn’t expressly indicate that Penn State influenced their decision, there can be little doubt it did.

As with the Chick-fil-A debacle, libs lost their collective noodle. Apparently, the only thing they hate more than Chick-fil-A is a “morally straight” 12-year-old who strives for integrity and merit.

So here’s my proposal: Don’t let a bunch of uber-obnoxious, loud-mouthed liberal pansies intimidate you. They’re nothing but a wet paper tiger. On Wednesday, Aug. 1, have your kids wear their Boy Scout uniforms to Chick-fil-A. Scoutmasters, bring ‘em all.

Kevin Swanson Nostalgic for Time when Homosexuals faced Death Penalty, Wants 'Miss Piggy on a Bun' for Chick-fil-A Decision

Pastor and radio host Kevin Swanson of Generations with Vision earlier this month expressed nostalgia for the Pilgrims’ approach to homosexuality, when it was punishable by death. On his radio show last week, longed for a time when Christians “brought the death penalty upon homosexuality” and “for about 1,500 years that form of life had pretty much been eliminated except here and there.”

Later in the program, Swanson and his co-host Dave Buehner talked about the backlash over Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy’s anti-gay statements, including denouncements from public officials and a decision by the Muppets to sever ties with the restaurant chain. They wondered if the Muppets support NAMBLA and if Kermit is “interested in another frog” instead of Miss Piggy and suggested that Chick-fil-A have a “frog filet” or a “Miss Piggy on a bun” to memorialize the Muppets’ decision to “take the sodomy route.”

Swanson: A Christian perspective ultimately brought the death penalty upon homosexuality between roughly 350 AD and roughly 1850 or so, for about 1,500 years that form of life had pretty much been eliminated except here and there, it was in the closet, but it was almost unheard of for over 1,000 years, until recently. Of course, now you have a massive, massive increase in this kind of thing.

Swanson: I say this is a really bad idea for somebody to stand up against the laws of God. Realize that this is a brave venture, this has been about a 30 year plan, a 40 year plan maybe, to completely consume America with a pro-homosexual agenda, and I just don’t think it’s going to last, I think you are going to see Jesus Christ coming up against this kind of thing, as we have said already about the Joe Paterno case.

Buehner: It’s pretty obvious to anyone who’s on looking that tolerance only runs one direction, you only can tolerate gays, you can’t tolerate those who don’t support gays.

Swanson: And Kermit the Frog is not eating Chick-fil-A either.

Buehner: No, they’re pulling out. Chick-fil-A had an association with the Muppets, a Happy Meals kind of thing. But Kermit the Frog doesn’t want to be there anymore, turns out that Kermit is not that interested in Miss Piggy, maybe he’s interested in another frog.

Swanson: Maybe Dan Cathy should consider doing a frog filet for one of the sandwiches.

Buehner: A frog filet?

Swanson: A frog filet, by commemoration of Kermit the Frog pulling out of his support for Chick-fil-A. Dave, you know that Sesame Street and the Muppets are going to take the sodomy route. I don’t know, do they support NAMBLA? I’m not sure, we should ask, we should ask if the Muppets support NAMBLA.

Buehner: I don’t think the frog filet will sell, just a little marketing advice, I think Miss Piggy on a bun, that’s a better bet, the winner.

Swanson: Miss Piggy on a bun, that sounds good, a fried pig on a bun.

Buehner: Sausage, a little bacon.

Swanson: Piggy on a bun. Well folks, it’s good news we have some organizations like Chick-fil-A.

Jeffress Warns that Homosexuality Leads to Pedophilia

Pastor Robert Jeffress has been making the rounds to defend Chick-fil-A’s anti-gay advocacy with claims that gays lead a “miserable lifestyle” and telling his congregants to support “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day”:

"The liberals have gone into a frenzy," said Jeffress. "Their first response was to try to stop the expansion of businesses with which they disagree. That should be of great concern for every American," he added.

The pastor, who last year made headlines for saying Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is not a Christian and Mormonism is a cult, also urged his church members to support the Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on Aug. 1.

"Let's go to Chick-fil-A this Wednesday to support religious freedom in America,'" said Jeffress. Supporters of traditional marriage and fans of Chick-fil-A are expected to head to their nearest chain restaurant on Aug. 1 to encourage Cathy.

His Pathway to Victory radio ministry also replayed one of his an anti-gay sermons on Friday, where he warned that homosexuals, since they are “perverse,” could begin to molest children since “if a person will sink that low” then “there is no telling to whatever sins he will commit as well.”

Jeffress: Amazingly, some gay activists don’t even try to hide the link between homosexuality and pedophilia. There are some who are right now are actively involved in trying to legalize sex between adults and children by lowering the age of consent or removing it altogether. In all fairness, it would be wrong to suggest that all homosexuals to pedophiles, it would be wrong to even suggest that a majority of homosexuals are pedophiles, but the truth nevertheless is there. There are a disproportionate amount of assaults against children by homosexuals than by heterosexuals, you can’t deny that, and the reason is very clear: homosexuality is perverse, it represents a degradation of a person’s mind and if a person will sink that low and there are no restraints from God’s law, then there is no telling to whatever sins he will commit as well.

Religious Right Leaders Pray for 'Healing for Those who Struggle with Same-Sex Attraction'

A number of prominent women leaders of the Religious Right have come together for the American Prayer Initiative, which is “designed to help draw ‘we the people’ of this nation back to the One upon whom she was founded.’ The group includes the National Day of Prayer’s Shirley Dobson and Vonette Bright, talk show host Janet Parshall, Liberty Counsel’s Anita Staver, Concerned Women for America’s Penny Nance, Susan B. Anthony List’s Marilyn Musgrave, activist Rebecca Hagelin and Susan Allen, wife of Virginia’s George Allen. The group offers members a specific prayer for every day of each month until Election Day, including prayers condemning homosexuality and the separation of church and state.

One message asks participants to pray for God’s “healing for those who struggle with same-sex attraction” and to “replace unnatural affections”:

We pray for healing and restoration of true manhood and womanhood in America. We ask for Your wisdom and protection against attempts to re-define our very identity as men and women.

We pray for Your design for abundant and fulfilled manhood, womanhood and marriage to gain preeminence in America.

We pray for a full restoration of the image and definition of manhood and womanhood in America.

We petition You, God for Your healing for those who struggle with same-sex attraction. May they come to know Your power, Your mercy and Your love as You replace unnatural affections with ones You Yourself designed.

Another is a prayer to oppose the legalization of same-sex marriage:

We pray that the union of one man and one woman will be embraced by all societies as the sole form of legitimate marriage and the proper basis of family.

We ask that the power of Your hand intervene to transform and heal the hearts of those who would attempt to re-define marriage.

The group also sends a message criticizing the influence of judges and proponents of the separation of church and state:

We ask for leaders, a judicial system and judges who adhere to the original intent of our founding documents and their many connections to Biblical principles.

We pray for a true understanding of justice according to Your Word We pray for Your protection from attempts to redefine justice for political gain.

We ask You to convict, transform and protect those who are out of Your will. We ask You to encourage, strengthen and protect those who honor and follow You.

We ask You for judges who will follow constitutional principles rather than ruling according to pre-chosen outcomes or relying on international law.

We pray that courts will recognize parents’ fundamental rights to the care, custody and control of their children.

We ask for Your guidance for accurate rulings over first amendment issues, and an awareness in our country that the words, “separation of church and state” are found nowhere in any one of our founding documents. We ask for a reversal of rulings which have inaccurately established “separation” as a Constitutional principle.

There is even a prayer against a media looking “to bring our country down by bringing our culture down”:

We ask you, Lord, to open greater and greater opportunities for Your Gospel to flow freely across our airwaves.

We ask, Lord, for You to grant Americans the wisdom to discern truth from deception.

We pray for those in the entertainment industry that they may better serve the families of our country by creating programs and movies that are uplifting in nature and extol positive virtues.

We especially pray Your blessings upon those in media, entertainment, the arts and journalism who are driven by loyalty to You. We ask for favor and acceptance for their work.

We ask You to raise up, equip, and abundantly provide for Your true disciples in the media, the arts, entertainment and journalism.

We pray for honesty in journalism.

We pray for those who would intend to bring our country down by bringing our culture down.

We ask you to foil the plans of those who would bring others down in any form.

We ask for Your transforming power in the lives of those who would divide, deceive and destroy.

AFA's Buster Wilson: 'Chick-fil-A is Neutral in the Culture War'

On his radio show today, the American Family Association’s Buster Wilson tried to explain the AFA’s rather inconsistent view of boycotts. As we’ve reported, the organization is attacking gay rights supporters for boycotting Chick-fil-A even as the AFA itself is leading a boycott of Home Depot and countless other companies for backing “the pro-homosexual movement.” According to Wilson, “Chick-fil-A is neutral in the culture war” and is “not trying to influence the culture war, not trying to influence what’s going on in the culture”:

Oh really?

Besides Chick-fil-A’s anti-LGBT workplace policies and president Dan Cathy’s well documented anti-gay views, the company’s charitable arm has given millions of dollars to anti-gay groups. Organizations receiving money include openly and undeniably political, right-wing organizations like Focus on the Family, Eagle Forum, Family Research Council, the Alliance Defense Fund and Exodus International, an ‘ex-gay’ group.

To say that Focus, Eagle Forum, ADF, FRC or Exodus are neutral in the culture war is patently absurd.

In that case, Wilson’s own AFA must be “neutral” too!

Jeffress: Gays Lead a 'Miserable Lifestyle'

On yesterday’s edition of The Janet Mefferd Show, anti-gay pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Dallas labeled the message of liberals “hopeless,” and said that gay people lead a “miserable lifestyle” that is predisposed to “depression, or suicide, or alcoholism.” Jefress’s comments are the latest in a string of anti-gay screeds. He has previously implied that gay rights will result in the “inevitable implosion of our country” and that gays are using a variety of “brainwashing techniques” to “inject homosexuality” into our culture.

Jeffress: God’s plan for sexuality is one man with one woman in a lifetime commitment called marriage. Any deviation from that is sin. And of course, I’m always, the retort to that is 'oh! Are you pulling a Rick Santorum and saying that homosexuality is like bestiality, uh, incest, or pedophilia'? And I say 'Yes.'. It is just as immoral as those practices. But then I’m quick to add, it’s also just as immoral as adultery, pre-marital sex, or unbiblical divorce. Any deviation from god’s plan is sin.

Mefferd: Well, but so much of what they’re trying to do now is not just say “accept us and don’t be discriminatory in your beliefs”. But also, embrace it, see that the bible really was wrong in these passages, in Leviticus and Romans I and it’s really not commending homosexuality. It’s almost as if they’re trying to co-opt the bible and make it say what it obviously does not say.

Jeffress: Absolutely, you have to do so many hermeneutical gymnastics. But what you really have to do is just throw out the bible to get to the point that you say, that uh, it’s uh normal. There are two agendas that homosexuals have in order to gain acceptance. First of all they try to normalize their behavior but also to marginalize as bigots those of us who oppose homosexuality. Normalize and marginalize are the two tactics. And they are being extremely successful about it.

...

Jeffress: We’re the ones that have a message of hope. And the message of hope we have is you don’t have to stay the way you are. You can experience freedom. You can experience life as god intended you to have it, by trusting in Christ and following his plan. You know, it’s the liberals that have no message of hope. It is the liberal message; 'you’re born that way, and you have to stay that way until the day you die.' I mean, why is it that gays, and I talk about this in my book, you know, have such a more preponderance for depression, or suicide, or alcoholism. It is a miserable lifestyle. And that is why we, as preachers of the gospel and Christians, we’ve got the message of hope, and we need to quit being ashamed to share it.

Gay Marriage Brought the Flood

When the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality in 2008, one rabbi claimed that the sin of homosexuality is so egregious that it caused God in the times of Noah “to annihilate the world and start from the beginning.” The rabbi, who will be speaking at Glenn Beck’s upcoming Religious Right meeting, apparently is not alone in this view: yesterday, Pastor Aaron Fruh challenged American Family Radio listeners to “find any society in human history that ever tried that experiment and lived to tell about it, they’ve all been destroyed, because as [Chick-fil-A CEO] Dan Cathy said we’re shaking our fist into the face of God.”

“So when it comes to civilization and society, God knew that the people of the earth were going to destroy themselves through same-sex marriage,” Fruh said, “so that’s why he brought the flood.”

Listen:

Florida Pastor: Gays Can't Handle the Truth

Jack Hakimian is a Florida pastor who is turning into something of a Religious Right martyr after the North Miami public schools rebuked him for delivering anti-gay screeds on school property. Today, Hakimian took his case to American Family Radio, where he complained of “censorship” by gay groups. He said gay rights advocates “know that if we keep debating from biology, from theology and from sociology that homosexuality is not a healthy lifestyle, it’s not God’s plan, we will persuade people’s minds,” and so those advocates “want to destroy our presence.”

Linda Harvey: Soldiers in Gay Pride Parade Brought 'Disgrace to the Uniform and to America'

As Republican leaders express their outrage at service members marching in a San Diego pride parade in uniform, Religious Right activists aren’t holding back either. In her radio alert yesterday, Mission America’s Linda Harvey accused the military personnel who marched in the parade of bringing “disgrace to the uniform and to America”:

Harvey: The San Diego homosexual pride parade on Saturday, July 21st, broke new ground. For the first time the Pentagon allowed members of the military to dress in full uniform at an event with a political agenda, and what an agenda it is. If you haven’t been to a pride parade recently, or ever, it’s not anything to be proud of. The uniform of our country was allowed to honor a display featuring men dressed as women, people in virtually no clothing at all and in your face advocacy of every aspect of homosexuality. How low will this present administration stoop before Americans say ‘we’ve had enough’? Here’s how the decision went down: there were concerns that some military members would march in uniform with or without permission so the big brass caved and said OK. Now think about that, because men and women who have taken an oath were planning to disobey standing protocol, their superiors decided to let them. The Pentagon says the exception is only for this parade but do any of us truly believe that?

This signals much more than an endorsement of deviance, it signals a breakdown of order. It’s also an exception that would not be extended to any groups but those on the left, could conservative soldiers appear in uniform at a Tea Party rally? Of course not, it’s only the homosexual lobby that gets this kind of deference. There were approximately three hundred service members signed up to march in this parade, that friends is a disgrace to the uniform and to America.

No debate about the military’s approach to gay and lesbian service members can be complete without a comment from Elaine Donnelly, who told Janet Parshall yesterday that participants wearing the uniform brought “discredit upon the Armed Forces”:

Later, Donnelly said the repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell undermined the military’s commitment to “selfless service”:

Donnelly: Connect the dots here, how far is the military going to go with this? Well, frankly, they don’t know. Because the administration is saying that LGBT equality is a paramount concern, it is actually a political concern, the President is trying to deliver on political promises to his LGBT base, the left if you will, and the Pentagon is helping him do it.

Parshall: So stunning that there has been a historic set of rules of deportment of where and when that uniform can be used, and it seems to me and you have made this point several times over the last few years, that we are kind of making it up as we go along.

Donnelly: This is a special interest faction. We don’t have in our military, we shouldn’t have, special interest factions. We don’t have labor unions either. You don’t have groups that are more interested in their own interests than they are in the selfless support for the institution, for the mission. Selfless service is what the military is all about. When you start dividing up into special interest factions that start saying ‘we want this and we want that and we are different from everyone else and we are more special than everyone else,’ that’s when you really invite problems. So Janet, this is just beginning, this is LGBT law in the military.

Religious Right's Chick-fil-A Chicanery

It always amazes us how Religious Right activists present themselves as fearless defenders of the truth, but constantly run away from and flat out deny statements that cause controversy.

Take the recent dispute over Chick-fil-A.

Not only does the company finance anti-gay groups, but CEO Dan Cathy has said that same-sex marriage is “inviting God’s judgment on our nation” because we “shake our fist at Him,” calling support for marriage equality a “tragic” a sign that God “left us to a depraved mind.”

Rather than defend these remarks, social conservatives groups are simply denying that Cathy ever uttered anything critical of gay rights or derogatory of the gay community.

American Family Association president Tim Wildmon yesterday maintained that gay rights supporters are only upset about the statement he gave to Baptist Press and ignored his earlier remarks:

Similarly, the Family Research Council’s prayer team claimed Cathy “said not one negative word about homosexuals nor homosexuality”:

Finally, you've probably seen reaction to Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy's declaration of support for Biblical marriage. He said not one negative word about homosexuals nor homosexuality. Rather, he said, "The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect - regardless of their belief, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender." Nevertheless, makers of the Muppets have withdrawn their partnership, and the mayor of Boston, has banned Chick-fil-A from coming to his city. Meanwhile, Internet monster Google has launched a worldwide "Legalize Love" campaign aimed at breaking down legal barriers to homosexuality in countries with moral objections. Also, J.C. Penney, which endorsed same-sex "marriage" has seen its stock go through the floor. Microsoft, which did likewise, has experienced its first quarterly loss in the company's history (Thigh will be Done, Come What Mayo, Irony of the Tolerance Police, Google). Please join us in celebrating Mike Huckabee's Wednesday, August 1, Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day. And thank you for praying!

Tea Party Nation president Judson Phillips endorsed “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day” by falsely asserting that Cathy “has not said at least publicly that he opposes gay marriage”:

The left is now making war in Chic fil A. They do not like it that the President of Chic fil A came out against gay marriage. Dan Cathy, like his father who founded Chic fil A is a devout protestant Christian and he supports traditional marriage and family values. He has not said at least publicly that he opposes gay marriage, only that he supports traditional marriage.

If conservative leaders are so proud and supportive of Dan Cathy’s views, then why are they so intent on avoiding any mention of his unambiguously anti-gay statements?
