Ted Cruz Adds Birther, Anti-Muslim Conspiracy Theorist To His Campaign

Ted Cruz has continued to reach out to extremists that even other Republicans wouldn’t dare touch, today appointing Frank Gaffney, an activist so bizarre that even the American Conservative Union issued a blistering report criticizing him for making outlandish claims, to his campaign’s foreign policy advisory board.

Gaffney, who heads the Center for Security Policy, has alleged that “there is mounting evidence that the president not only identifies with Muslims, but actually may still be one himself,” calling President Obama “America’s first Muslim president.”

Indeed, Gaffney believes that Obama may not just be a secret Muslim but also an Islamist bent on aiding “Islamic supremacists” and instituting “the Sharia blasphemy agenda of our enemies” in the U.S., comparing the president to Osama bin Laden.

Among Obama’s secret Islamist crimes? Gaffney once claimed that what was clearly a rocket on a redesigned Missile Defense Agency logo was actually an Islamic crescent that was created on orders from Obama. He claims that the president wants to overturn the Citizens United decision in order to ban anti-Muslim speech and believes that Obama is trying to give control over the Internet to an Islamic group.

He told one radio host that “the Obama administration is … well, they’re playing for the other team” and “providing aid and comfort to enemies of the United States. And that is the definition, as you know, of treason.”

It shouldn’t be surprising that Gaffney had his fingers all over the smear campaign targeting Hillary Clinton aide Huma Abedin for supposedly being a Muslim Brotherhood agent. He even accused New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie of committing “misprision of treason” for appointing a Muslim to a state judgeship.

If this smells like a McCarthyist push against Muslims serving in government, you’re right, as Gaffney has called for Congress to establish a House Anti-American Activities Committee to investigate those in government who are secretly aiding Islamists.

It is a bit ironic, though, that Gaffney would join the Canadian-born Cruz’s presidential campaign, since Gaffney has pushed the birther conspiracy theory that Obama was born abroad and is therefore ineligible to serve as president.

One of Gaffney’s colleagues, Clare Lopez, who also joined Cruz’s campaign team, is such a conspiracy theorist that she can’t decide whether Obama is a secret Sunni Muslim radical or a secret Shiite Iran-lover. Also joining the Cruz campaign is Andy McCarthy, who defended Donald Trump’s ban on the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims from entering the U.S. by stating that Islam is not a religion.

Of course, Cruz has echoed many of Gaffney’s own claims, baselessly asserting that the Obama administration imposed a “ban on anti-Muslim rhetoric” and secretly aids terrorism. Cruz also spearheaded a McCarthy-esque campaign against then-secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel, joining Gaffney in wondering if Hagel was an agent for America’s enemies.

And that’s what is truly scary.

Donald Trump: Virtually 100 Percent Of Mosques Preach Hate Against America

Following last night’s debate, Chris Cuomo of CNN asked Donald Trump about his nonsensical claim that “Islam hates us.”

When pressed by Cuomo if he believes that all Muslims are “part of the hatred,” a characteristically vague Trump said that “if you look at the mosques and you go to various places and you look at what’s going on there and it’s virtually 100 percent. Certainly you can say radical Islam is a disaster right now, it’s causing tremendous problems worldwide, not just here. But the question was asked about Islam and there’s a great hatred, there’s no question about it.”

Trump, who wants to ban the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims from entering America, added that Americans must “run our own place” rather than worry that such comments would alienate Muslims across the globe, noting that many people in the audience seemed to like his idea.

“There is animosity like I’ve never seen before and hopefully we can straighten it out,” Trump said.

Louie Gohmert: Obama's 'Hate Crimes' Against Christians Invite God's Judgment

Yesterday on “Washington Watch,” Rep. Louie Gohmert railed against “the hate crimes by this administration” against conservative Christians, such as the nuns of the Little Sisters of the Poor.

The Texas Republican and radio host Tony Perkins, the president of the Family Research Council, falsely claimed that the Obama administration refuses to offer religious groups an exemption from the Affordable Care Act’s contraception coverage requirement.

In fact, the Little Sisters of the Poor is covered under its accommodation but refuses to fill out the form seeking an exemption.

Gohmert said that instead of focusing on America’s enemies, “they just choose to spend a great deal of their time going after Christians.”

“We’ve never had a religion permit the kinds of hate crimes that this administration is in going after them and bullying them,” he added, claiming that the administration’s “bullying” is “the worst in our history.”

After alleging that the ACA has “been used as a government tool to go after Christians and those whose religious beliefs are different from the president’s,” Gohmert went on to make the baseless claim that the White House tried to cut off aid to Ethiopia, Kenya and Nigeria until they legalized same-sex marriage. “This administration hasn’t confined their bullying just to this country,” he said.

Gohmert should not be considered an expert on hate crimes, as he once said the hate crimes law passed in 2009 would legalize pedophilia, necrophilia and bestiality while ushering in Nazism.

The two also blasted an Obama administration effort to fight hate crimes directed at Muslim-Americans. Gohmert dismissed concerns about such hate crimes while saying that the White House is ignoring crimes against Christians and Jews throughout the world because “we have a United States leadership that will not protect Christians [and] puts a real prize on protecting Muslims.”

He said that Muslim people should be more grateful to U.S. service members fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, claiming that the U.S. has only gotten terrorist attacks in return.

“It is absolute insanity that this administration continues to do great harm and persecute Christians for their religious beliefs,” Gohmert continued.

The congressman then quoted from the book of Hosea to suggest that America is facing God’s wrath because “nations are made to account when they put leaders in place that persecute those who are trying to follow the words of God.”

Perkins, for his part, said that Obama is only promoting religious liberty for Muslims. (In the past, Perkins has repeatedly said that Muslims are not protected under the First Amendment).

Donald Trump Repeats Lie Of Americans Using Bullets With Pigs' Blood To Massacre Muslims

Once again, Donald Trump praised the actions of a U.S. general whom he said massacred Muslim “terrorists” in the Philippines while using bullets covered in pigs’ blood.

While the account has been roundly debunked, Trump repeated the story at a rally today in Virginia, holding it up as a great way to fight terrorism while dismissing media criticism for using the story.

“We are going to have to get tough,” he said.

Jan Morgan Expects Rubio To Soon Announce Endorsements From Hamas And ISIS

During a Republican presidential forum yesterday, Marco Rubio condemned an Oklahoma gun range for refusing to allow an Army reservist to use the range because he is a Muslim, saying that such discrimination is "wrong" and "immoral."

Today, Bryan Fischer brought Second Amendment zealot Jan Morgan onto his radio show to get her reaction to Rubio's comments and she was predictably unimpressed.

Morgan, who has also infamously banned Muslims from her gun range, told Fischer that "Marco Rubio sounds like a mouthpiece for the Muslim Brotherhood front organization CAIR."

"Marco Rubio has made a grave mistake," she declared, "which is why Donald Trump is slaughtering him in his own home state of Florida ... If Marco Rubio thinks that training and putting guns in the hands of people who align themselves with a theocracy that commands them to kill innocent people, if that's his definition of immoral, then he needs to be running on another ticket and I expect, any day now, to hear him announcing endorsements from the Muslim Brotherhood, CAIR, Hamas and ISIS."

Michele Bachmann: Muslim Migrants Rape Women To Commit Jihad And 'Destroy Western Christendom'

Michele Bachmann spoke with End Times radio hosts Jan Markell and Eric Barger on Saturday about the migration of Muslims into Western Europe and the United States, calling it a “planned invasion” meant to destroy “Western Christendom.”

“This clearly is an invasion,” Bachmann said. “This is a planned invasion, not only in Europe but also in the United States, I believe for the specific purpose of destroying Western Christendom.” Bachmann said that countries with large Muslim minorities like France now experience “Islamic jihad 24/7, terrorist bloodbath attacks 24/7,” warning that the same thing is coming to the U.S. unless we decide to have “no more immigration into the United States.”

Now, Bachmann said, Muslim migrants are raping Western women as part of their religious terrorism.

“The more that come in, the more they act upon their religious convictions and their stated religious convictions,” she said. “The imams from the original countries that they come from, they recruit and send these guys to come in and to bring about this destruction. Right now in Europe it’s called a ‘rape culture’ that’s coming into Sweden and Germany and all across Europe for the specific purpose of Islamizing these countries, and they are falling.”

“Islamists have a plan,” Bachmann later added. “They have a plan to destroy Western Christendom. It’s called civilization jihad. By bringing Islamists into our country and destroying us from in, they don’t need to just have a nuclear bomb. If they send their invading army into our countries and if young men are doing what they did on New Year’s Eve in Cologne, Germany, and other places where they are literally sexually attacking and raping and groping women and causing them to fear, we are looking at a completely ramped-up level of invasion one like we have never seen before.”

“Not only is Europe getting that, the United States is getting that, but we need to recognize what is happening,” she said. “This isn’t unintentional. This is intentional and it’s meant to destroy Western Christendom.”

The former congresswoman and GOP presidential candidate then said that Muslim migrants from countries like Pakistan and Iran may pose as Central American refugees in order to enter the U.S., all thanks to Obama’s refugee policy.

Earlier in the same interview, Bachmann suggested that President Obama is an Antichrist-like figure bringing about the Last Days.

Bryan Fischer Says All Islamic Charities Are Merely Fronts For Funding Terrorism

On his program yesterday, notorious anti-Muslim radio host Bryan Fischer criticized President Obama for speaking at a mosque, asserting that there is no such thing as an Islamic charity because all such organizations are nothing more than fronts for funding terrorism.

"There's no such thing as an Islamic charity," he said. "That's just a ruse. That is a terrorist fundraising organization. You see any Islamic organization with the word 'relief' or 'foundation' or 'charity' in it, you are looking at an organization that raises money for terror."

When Christians start a charity, Fischer asserted, the motivation is to "provide charitable relief to needy people" but when Muslims start a charity, the true "purpose is to finance jihad."

"That is it's mission," he said. "That's why it exists and this whole business about it being a charity, being a foundation, that's just a cover to try to avoid suspicion."

Alex Jones: Liberal Women Seek Out Muslim Men To 'Slap Them Around'

Yesterday, Alex Jones of InfoWars chatted with Judicial Watch founder Larry Klayman about Klayman’s column naming President Obama 2015’s “Muslim of the Year.”

Jones, discussing cases of sexual assault in parts of Europe by migrants from North Africa and the Middle East, claimed that some liberal women in the West actually want to be assaulted by Muslim men.

“What is happening with the left?” he asked. “Not just here, but in Europe. I even found out that it’s a new fad where liberal women want to go out and find a very Sharia-law Muslim man to slap them around and dominate them but they hate their daddy from the liberal West who gave them all that freedom. Is this like some type of mass suicide culturally by the left? Who are these people?”

Klayman, for his part, said that Islam “is not a religion at all” and that Muslims constantly try to “kill each other.”

Later in the interview, Klayman praised Donald Trump’s proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the U.S.

End Times Radio Host Warns 'Islamic Males' Are Walking Down Streets

End Times broadcaster Jan Markell is very worried about something: “Islamic males” walking down streets…in America!

In an interview yesterday with the American Family Association’s Tim Wildmon on his “Today’s Issues” program, Markell said that while she doesn’t “want to scare people, apparently, Islamic males are kind of walking down some of the main streets of some of our cities.”

“They’re simply intimidating Americans,” she said. “Nothing has happened at this point but they seem to be taunting Americans, taking pictures of buildings and things like that. I have some eyewitnesses to that.”

Markell insisted while she isn’t “trying to blow it out of proportion, but I just think we have an enemy within and we need to be aware.”

Bryan Fischer Can't Stop Making Stuff Up

In a column this week defending Donald Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the country, Bryan Fischer of American Family Radio insisted that Japan has issued similar restrictions on Muslims, and that is why the country doesn’t face terrorism:

There is a simple reason we never read about jihadi attacks in Japan. There are no Muslims there. No Muslims, no terrorists.

Dr. Mordechai Kedar, writing in The Jewish Press, offers some of the details (emphasis mine throughout):

This country keeps a very low profile on all levels regarding the Muslim matter: On the diplomatic level, senior political figures from Islamic countries almost never visit Japan, and Japanese leaders rarely visit Muslim countries. The relations with Muslim countries are based on concerns such as oil and gas, which Japan imports from some Muslim countries. The official policy of Japan is not to give citizenship to Muslims who come to Japan, and even permits for permanent residency are given sparingly to Muslims.

Islamic proselytization is forbidden in Japan, it is very difficult to import Qur’ans into the country, and there are very few mosques. In Japan, Muslim men are expected to pray at home, not in mosques or in the middle of the street as they do in France. Islamic organizations are not allowed, so the Japanese do not have to deal with the incessant stream of propaganda coming from pro-jihadi groups like CAIR. There is only one imam in Tokyo, a city of over 13 million people.

Virtually the only Muslims who are in Japan come as employees of foreign companies. And even that is the exception rather than the rule. “The official policy of the Japanese authorities is to make every effort not to allow entry to Muslims, even if they are physicians, engineers and managers sent by foreign companies that are active in the region.”

As the myth-busting website PolitiFact notes, the claim that Japan imposes special restrictions on Muslims emerged in a right-wing meme that consisted of nothing but false claims.

"The chain email is nothing but malicious falsehood," said Kumiko Yagi, a professor at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Graduate School who has written extensively about Islam and other religions.

Kamada Shigeru, a professor of Islamic studies at the University of Tokyo, agreed, saying that all four of the claims we spotlighted are wrong.

He said Japan doesn’t discriminate in permanent residency on the basis of religion and that "propagation" of Islam is not banned. He added that the Koran or other religious books in Arabic can be imported.

Meanwhile, there is nothing in Japanese nationality law that prevents Muslims from becoming naturalized citizens. The requirements concern length of residency, age, a history of "upright conduct," the ability to support oneself and a willingness to give up other nationalities. There is no mention of religion.

The graphic says that in Japan, "permanent residency is not given to Muslims," the "propagation of Islam" is banned, "one cannot import a Koran published in the Arabic language," and "Muslims cannot even rent a house."

Each of these four statements is incorrect, and the overall point of the graphic -- that Japan keeps itself free from radical Islam by discriminating against all Muslims -- is dramatically off-base. We rate these claims Pants on Fire.

Warren Throckmorton also points out that Japan’s own government claims that Muslims in Japan face less discrimination than they do in western nations.

In 2013, Fischer similarly relied on a right-wing meme to falsely claim that Japan has banned Muslims, the Quran, mosques and the teaching of Islam.

Apart from Fischer’s inaccurate description of Japan’s policies towards Islam, he also ignores the fact that Japan has indeed faced terrorist attacks ... but not from radical Muslims.

The extremist Aum Shinrikyo cult was behind a sarin attack on Tokyo’s subway system in 1995, an attack that “left 13 people dead, and more than 6,000 others suffering the effects of the nerve gas.” The group also conducted a deadly sarin gas attack in 1994.

The police found “hundreds of tons of chemicals in raids on Aum Shinri Kyo (Supreme Truth) doomsday cult,” including “extensive preparations for chemical and biological attacks.” The police also broke up other plots to conduct “guerrilla raids against parliament and prime minister's residence.” One subway cleaning woman later discovered bags in a subway station restroom with enough cyanide gas “to kill, in theory, 10,000 people.”

“Nearly 200 members of the cult were convicted in connection with the Tokyo sarin attack and a string of other terror attacks and assassinations,” the Huffington Post notes.

Japan also has a history of violent attacks from both far-left and far-right groups.

Perhaps Fischer may consider performing a simple Google search next time he wants to use his column to repeat right-wing myths.

Right-Wing Activist Warns Foreclosed Homes Will Soon House 100 Million Muslim Refugees

In an interview yesterday on “Trunews,” Avi Lipkin added a new twist to his conspiracy theory that the Free Mason/Illuminati/Trilateral Commission members “who control the world” are part of a plot to bring 50 to 100 million Muslim refugees to America, where they will be housed in national parks.

Lipkin told host Rick Wiles that the plan to bring 100 million Muslims to America “imminently” is on track as God destroys Israel’s “enemies” one by one, predicting that more people will flee the Middle East after God annihilates not only Syria and Iraq but also Turkey, Egypt and Iran.

“It’s an invasion,” he said. “They will use Agenda 21 to confiscate land to prepare for pure Islamic cities throughout the United States.”

When Wiles asked him if Muslims will exploit the “millions of foreclosed homes in the United States,” Lipkin affirmed that “Muslims will buy them all up,” or receive the properties for free from the government or Muslim organizations.

But on the bright side, Lipkin said that the U.S. economy will improve thanks to the upcoming “building boom” to house the tens of millions of refugees, although it would “make America a Muslim country” in the end.

Lipkin also told Wiles that “Muslims are a very, very big segment in every prison in the world,” including every single black inmate in the U.S.

The two then agreed that President Obama seeks to close the Guantanamo Bay prison in order to let terrorists recruit American prisoners.

Bryan Fischer Defends Banning Muslims Because 'Islam Is The Ebola Virus Of Culture'

On his radio program today, the American Family Association's Bryan Fischer once again voiced his support for Donald Trump's call to ban all Muslims from entering the country, likening it to imposing a travel ban during the height of last year's Ebola outbreak.

"We have got to suspend Islamic immigration," Fischer said, "until we can figure out how to stop this toxic poison coming into this country. We're not saying all Muslims are carriers of this toxic poison, but the problem is we don't know who is a carrier and who is not. It's like the Ebola virus. Remember when the Ebola virus hit? We simply banned travel from any country where there was an Ebola outbreak. We just said we cannot take the risk. Well, Islam is the Ebola virus of culture."

Of course, Fischer's analogy might work better if the U.S. had actually imposed such a travel ban, but that never happened. Instead, the U.S. simply required travelers from affected West African countries to fly into one of five airports where enhanced screening Ebola protocols had been put into place.

Pamela Geller Hails Trump, Warns A 'Large Conspiracy' Is Bringing Down Civilization

While Donald Trump may not be a big fan of Pamela Geller, the anti-Muslim activist and blogger praised Trump’s plan to bar Muslim immigrants from the U.S. in an interview today with Breitbart News.

After host Stephen Bannon wondered if Trump’s plan was inspired by her blog, Geller said that Trump was right to launch “a conversation” about Muslim migration.

“Obama’s negligence and jihad-denial necessitates emergency measures,” she said. “In this he’s right.”

Geller also opined on Time Magazine’s decision to name German chancellor Angela Merkel “Person of the Year,” which she said showed that the media, along with political and academic leaders, are part of a massive conspiracy to destroy Western civilization by facilitating a “Muslim invasion.”

“They named Hitler ‘Man of the Year’ too, you know,” she said. “Merkel will go down as a key figure, a single figure, in the destruction of Europe. This is one large conspiracy we’re witnessing and the media and academia and political elites are responsible for the destruction of the West. What Merkel did was unforgivable.”

She continued: “It’s the marketing of evil. It’s the marketing of destruction.”

Bryan Fischer: Don't Just Ban Muslim Immigration, Pay Muslims Who Are Already Here To Leave

As we noted yesterday, the American Family Association's Bryan Fischer was years ahead of Donald Trump in calling for a ban on Muslim immigration to America, so he naturally took a bit of a victory lap on his radio program today in light of the fact that his radical position is now being championed by the Republican presidential frontrunner.

But Fischer took his position a step further, insisting that it is not enough to simply ban Muslims from entering the country and so the government should actually be paying Muslims who are already here to leave.

"Let's use American resources to help these people find a home in the Muslim world," Fischer said. "I suggest that we assist Muslims in America with repatriation costs. Let's help them find a home in the Muslim world. They can live in a place that shares the values, that shares their religious principles, that shares their religious practice, that shares their cultural customs. They can be at home, don't have to chafe against our religious liberty, don't have to chafe against our Judeo-Christian values system. They can be at home and I believe we ought to be content to use our resources to help them get there."

Sandy Rios Hails Donald Trump's 'Common Sense' Ban On Muslim Immigrants

American Family Association official Sandy Rios doesn’t see how supporting Donald Trump’s call to discriminate against Muslims conflicts with the Religious Right’s supposed commitment to “religious liberty.”

You see, according to Rios, Islam is not a religion.

Rios, an American Family Radio host who also serves as the AFA’s director of governmental affairs, criticized Dick Cheney today for his condemnation of Trump’s plan, insisting on her radio program that Muslims are different from other groups of people because many, if not all, of them are “enemies of your country and of the Christian faith who are bound and determined to murder and destroy and to subjugate you.”

“Islam is a political system, it is tiny bit the worship of Allah and a whole lot a political system, much like communism,” she said.

Rios also told listeners this morning that it is only “common sense” to bar Muslim immigration to the U.S. until, in Trump’s words, “our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”

Urging congressional Republicans to specifically block the resettlement of Syrian refugees, Rios said, “Donald Trump, as far I’m concerned, is right. Until Congress can figure it out, we should have a moratorium on bringing more Muslims into the country.”

CBN's David Brody Urges Trump To Go All In With Attack On Islam, Quran

We have been critical of the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody for his fawning coverage of right-wing political figures and for acting as publicity agent for Christian-nation activist David Lane.  Turns out Brody was just warming up.

Yesterday, CBN's David Brody tweeted his admiration for Donald Trump’s “bravery” — later amended to “guts” and “moxie” — for arguing that the U.S. should stop all Muslims from entering  the country. And today, Brody takes his Trump promotion to a whole new level, setting aside his battered “journalism” hat and offering Trump advice on campaign strategy.

Brody taking a turn as a Trump political operative is less surprising than the content of his advice. Brody suggests — actually it’s more like pleading — that Trump turn his political campaign into a theological attack on Islam and its Holy Scripture, saying that “if Trump is going to come out with a statement like he did about all Muslims, then he might as well go for the whole enchilada, which is explaining the underlying theological problems with Islam and the Quran.”

Brody says Trump has “a real opening” to show leadership and “shed light in this area” the way he has on immigration.

And when it comes to evangelicals, Trump has a real opportunity here to thoughtfully delve into the taboo issues of what is in the Quran: that is, Sharia Law and Jihad. But it can’t be just shock value on stage. It can't be just for huge applause lines. To resonate with evangelicals, it will have to be deeper than that. He can forge a deeper connection with evangelicals if he’ll have the courage to be a truth-teller on the core issue, which lies in the teachings of the Quran. If he makes it about just banning Muslims into America then that is shortsighted and he will lose politically. But if he turns this into a movement to get Islamic leaders to denounce Sharia and Jihad (concepts that are in their own book) and moves the ball down the field in that regard, then he’ll resonate with evangelicals on this issue.

But Brody makes it clear that Muslims are not the real audience:

I'm not saying Islamic leaders will be listening to Trump on this because of his past statements but evangelicals are listening and they want to hear the unvarnished truth about the concerns regarding Islam spoken without a filter. Trump has no problem speaking without a filter, that's for sure.

The separation of church and state, which protects religious liberty in America, has taken plenty of hits from the Religious Right in recent decades. And we already know that Trump cares nothing for respectful pluralism or public discourse. That may be why it seems so shocking that Brody is urging Trump to ramp up his already rank religious bigotry. Brody’s call to turn our already divisive political climate into an explicit Holy War is an idea whose awful, terrible, badness cannot be overstated.

Pat Robertson: Islam Is Not A Religion But A Military Group 'Bent On World Domination'

Today on “The 700 Club,” televangelist Pat Robertson said that people should not view Islam as a religious faith since it is a “political system masquerading as a religion” and is really “an aggressive, military, disciplined” group “bent on world domination.”

“It isn’t a ‘religion’ as such,” he said, claiming that unlike Christianity, Islam is obsessed with violently converting people throughout the world.

“We’re not dealing with a religion,” Robertson continued. “People say, ‘Oh, it’s just terrible, you shouldn’t discriminate one religion versus the other.’ Well, yes you can if one religion is actually a political system that is intent on dominating you and killing you. Christianity isn’t intent on dominating and killing you, it just isn’t.”

He said more people would agree with him once we start “telling it like it is.”

Right-Wing Activists Praise Trump's Plan To Ban Muslim Immigration

Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy, the group who put out the bogus poll of Muslim-American views that was cited by Donald Trump in his press release calling for a ban Muslim immigration, appeared on Breitbart’s Sirius XM radio show today to defend Trump’s proposal.

Gaffney, like Trump, promotes birther conspiracy theories along with bizarre claims that Muslim Brotherhood and Sharia law advocates are taking over the U.S. government and both political parties, touted his poll as “an insight into how the Muslims that we polled felt and it’s worrisome.”

“Fortunately, Donald Trump, like you, I’m not endorsing him, I’m not speaking of his fitness, I’m just saying that in response to events that have taken place in this country and elsewhere in recent months has recognized what I think most Americans recognize, that we don’t actually want more jihadists in this country,” he said, insisting that Americans “don’t think augmenting them willy-nilly in the name of some kind of sense that they are entitled to come here is a sound policy.”

He continued: “We have called for a moratorium on the introduction of still more Muslims, particularly from countries with a tradition of Islamic supremacism.”

Gaffney wasn’t alone. Fox News pundit Todd Starnes also defend the GOP presidential front-runner plan:

Ann Coulter joined in on the fun:

As did David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network, who lauded Trump’s courage:

American Family Radio host Bryan Fischer said Trump is merely advocating what he called for years ago:

Conservative columnist Diana West called it a “perfect” plan:

John Nolte of Breitbart offered a more unusual defense:

Trump: Ban Muslim Immigration To Make America Great Again

After floating the idea of mosque closures, being open to a government database to track all Muslims and making false claims about Muslim-Americans celebrating the 9/11 attacks, Donald Trump is now calling for a sweeping ban on all Muslim immigration to the U.S. Trump proposed the immigration ban in a press statement today, claiming that Muslims harbor a “hatred” of America and of human life.

To back up this assertion, Trump cited an unscientific online poll from the Center for Security Policy, a radical group led by conspiracy theorist Frank Gaffney, that the group claimed demonstrated anti-American views among American Muslims. Experts have dismissed the poll as significantly flawed and dishonest.

While Trump’s statement implies that he is interested in “preventing Muslim immigration,” his new plan may even bar tourism as it calls for the “total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”

His campaign manager Corey Lewandoski told the AP that Muslim tourists would also be barred from entering the country.

Trump’s GOP presidential rival Rand Paul made a similar suggestion on Glenn Beck’s program today, saying that “until we have a better handle on who is already here and whether the people here are obeying our laws, I’d just stop immigration from the Middle East.” Paul also called for increased scrutiny from European travelers because too many people who live in the continent are “against Western civilization.”

Read Trump’s statement here:

Mike Huckabee: Obama Must Resign For Protecting Islam Over America

At one point during Friday’s “Presidential Family Forum” in Iowa, the discussion descended into a debate over Ted Cruz’s call for Secretary of State John Kerry to resign because he, along with President Obama and Hillary Clinton, “served as apologists for radical Islamic terrorists.”

Naturally, Mike Huckabee tried to one-up Cruz’s stance, and instead said that President Obama should step down for supposedly being more concerned with attacking Republicans than defeating ISIS.

“I’d like for Barack Obama to resign if he’s not going to protect America and instead protect the image of Islam,” he said.
