President Barack Obama

Tony Perkins Knows What's Best for Gays – and the GOP

The latest fundraising pitch from the Family Research Council’s Tony Perkins blasts “the national Republicans” whom he says are “running away from the natural and biblical definition of marriage, flocking to the radical side in support of same-sex ‘marriage.’”

Perkins’ letter insists that allowing same-sex couples to get married is dangerous to religious liberties, to the next generation, and “dangerous to civilization itself.” Perhaps worst of all is that Obama’s “machine” would benefit from the GOP alienating its conservative base:

Sacrificing our values, and their distinctives as a Party, will send millions of voters packing. One terrible side effect: President Obama’s machine will be stronger than ever. Their radicalization of American public policy will intensify.

But be assured that Perkins “cares deeply” about gay people:

Please understand: this is no vendetta. We care deeply about those who engage in either heterosexual sex outside of marriage or homosexual behavior in any context. Both are immoral and unhealthy. We want what is truly best for them and for our nation.

What is truly best for them is a lifestyle of biblical morality. (emphasis in original)

Perkins calls for a “massive outpouring of outrage from principled conservatives” and urges supporters to sign a petition to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. And, of course, to send a check.

Beck: 'I Have a Feeling We're Headed for a Monarchy'

On Tuesday evening, the President and the First Lady hosted the latest "In Performance at the White House" event which consisted of a tribute to Memphis soul music.

And Glenn Beck was reasonably outraged about it on last night's program, demanding to know why the Obama's are living like royalty when global economic and social collapse is imminent.  Beck even posted paintings of Barack and Michelle dressed like Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette while warning that "we're headed for a monarchy," only this time "maybe Marie Antoinette and King Louis keep their heads while all of their subjects lose theirs":

Staver: 'For The Very First Time in History [We Have] a President Who Does Not Love America'

On yesterday's "Faith and Freedom" radio broadcast, Matt Staver and Matt Barber were discussing the "unprecedented" attacks on religious liberty under the Obama administration, which Staver attributed to the fact that President Obama hates America.

"We had President Carter, we had President Clinton," Staver said, "they were liberal and leftist in their policies; I think they were wrong but at their heart and at their core, I think they still loved America.  They had different ideas of how America should work. But I think at his core, we have, for the very first time in history, a president who does not love America, who wants to completely remake it because he does not like America or the values and the founding principles upon which is was established":

Beck: Obama 'Is Trying to Send Us Into Civil War'

There is no doubt in Glenn Beck's mind that President Obama is seeking to incite a civil war in this nation and he sees the decision by the administration to release hundreds of illegal immigrants from detention facilities due to looming obligatory sequestration spending cuts as further proof.

For Beck, this move was nothing more than an attempt to provoke conflict, as he predicted that if any state were to go into rebellion, Obama will simply open up the federal prisons in that state and just let all of the prisoners loose in retaliation:

Fischer: 'President Obama Is Our Enemy'

Bryan Fischer dedicates the first segment of every program to a discussion of a reading from the Bible, followed by a prayer based on that reading.  In addition to his own family and friends and co-workers, Fischer regularly includes President Obama among those for whom he is praying and yesterday explained that he does so because Jesus commanded Christians to pray for their enemies and those that persecute them.

"Ladies and gentlemen," Fischer declared, "we should be under no illusions here; President Obama is not our friend, President Obama is our enemy":

Rick Wiles: President Obama Has 'Spiritually Sodomized' the Military and the Nation

Yesterday, Harry Jackson appeared on "Trunews" with host Rick Wiles where the two discussed the burning question of whether President Obama has "spiritually sodomized the nation."

Wiles clearly believes that he has, since he is the one who stated it repeatedly, while Jackson said he might not put it that way even though Wiles' description of what Obama has done is "clear, concise, and it's true":

Wiles: Last year, Barack Obama spiritually sodomized the US armed forces by compelling American generals to accept his demand that the military alter its code of moral conduct and permit homosexuals and lesbians to openly serve in the military.

Furthermore, he commanded the military to extend financial benefits to same-sex couples in the military.  Additionally, military chapels on US military bases were ordered to permit homosexual marriage ceremonies inside the facilities.

The Boy Scouts of America is the next target of the socialist Obamanistas.  Last week the Irving, Texas-based organization delayed a decision until May on whether the scouting organization will change its rules of conduct to allow homosexuals to serve as scout masters, troop leaders, and as Boy Scouts.

What will be the spiritual consequences of the American people allowing Barack Obama to spiritually sodomize the nation? Bishop Harry Jackson, Jr is on the telephone; I'm going to him that question.

Bishop Jackson, welcome to the program.

Jackson: Well Rick, I'm glad to be with you. You have quite a way with words.  That was an intense introduction.

Wiles: Am I being over-dramatic in saying that Barack Obama has spiritually sodomized the nation?

Jackson: In some ways.  Let me say it this way, your summary is clear, concise, and it's true but I would say it like this: his administration is, in fact, the culmination of the downward cycle, morally, that I believe our nation has been in for some time.

Fischer: Obama Is an Antichrist

Earlier today, we posted a clip of Bryan Fischer attacking President Obama for supposedly being "filled with arrogance" pride and hubris for believing that he knows better than God when it comes to issues like reproductive choice and marriage equality.

On his program today, Fischer returned to the issue, this time declaring that Obama is an antichrist:

Barber & Staver: Obama is Pushing America Toward Civil War

2013 is the 150th anniversary of both the Emancipation Proclamation and the Gettysburg Address, and so Liberty Counsel has christened this year a "New Birth of Liberty." As Matt Barber and Mat Staver explained, President Obama is the antithesis of Abraham Lincoln and is systematically working to divide and weaken America and pushing the nation toward civil war:

Beck's New Year's Resolution: Anyone Who Mentions Obama is Fired

Glenn Beck returned from his lengthy holiday vacation to announce a new policy for his daily three-hour radio program: anyone who mentions the name of President Obama or plays any audio from him is fired:

'Barack the Destroyer': Bryan Fischer's Grand Unified Theory of Obama

On yesterday's program, Bryan Fischer responded to a caller who asserted that President Obama is "a very evil man" who wants to turn American into an Islamic state by laying out a wide-ranging theory about how Obama is not a Christian but rather a Muslim sympathizer who believes that the United States is fundamentally racist and evil and must be destroyed.  And that is exactly what Obama is trying to do, Fischer asserted, by entertaining ideas about capping tax deductions on charitable giving for high-income donors  because he wants to wipe out private charity so that people will become dependent on the government.

In fact, when companies lay off workers, Obama rejoices because "he wants to see America and Americans suffer" because "he is Barack the Destroyer; he is out to punish America for our misdeeds, to punish us for our racism, to bring us to our knees, to humble us in the dust so he can rebuild some kind of a socialist utopia on the ruins of what used to be the United States of America":

Beck: 'I'm Sorry America, but Your President is a Liar'

On Wednesday night's program, Glenn Beck spent the entire hour laying out a rather confusing theory about how the Obama administration has systemically lied about the attack in Benghazi, Libya as part of an attempt to cover up the fact that it has been secretly arming Syrian rebels for the benefit of al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The entire program was an epic performance of conspiracy and delusion driven by an amazing lack of self-awareness as Beck said that someone who will so willingly and unapologetically lie to his audience must either "have deep psychological problems" or be totally insane, eventually getting very serious and quiet to declare "I'm sorry America, but your president is a liar" before dramatically walking off camera:

Fischer: Obama 'May in Fact be a Closeted Muslim'

While taking calls from listeners yesterday, Bryan Fischer was asked by "Chip in Fitzgerald, Georgia" why nobody in the mainstream media was reporting on the fact the WND-based conspiracy theory claiming that President Obama's wedding ring proves that he is a Muslim.

While the obvious explanation would be that nobody has reported on it because it is nonsense, that was not the explanation that Fischer offered because he knows the real reason the media is not reporting on it is because it is evidence that Obama "may in fact be a closeted Muslim":

Fischer: If Obama is Re-Elected, 'America has no Future'

As is his usual practice, Bryan Fischer began his radio program yesterday with a Bible reading and discussion, in this case a passage from 2 Kings.  It is Fischer's belief that the Old Testament was preserved so that we can understand "the principles by which God deals with nations," and this reading prompted him to declare that if this nation re-elects President Obama in November "I sincerely believe that America has no future" as the decision "will either delay [God's] day of judgment or it will hasten that day of judgment":

Schlafly Screed on Obama's 'Hostility'

As RWW readers know, there is no end to the Religious Right’s dishonest campaign to portray Barack Obama as an enemy of faith and freedom.  The latest salvo from Phyllis Schlafly on the president’s “record of hostility to religion” is a litany of the Religious Right’s favorite horror stories, half-truths, distortions, and outright falsehoods, wrapped up in a sweeping assertion:
When Barack Obama promised to “fundamentally transform the United States” we could not have anticipated the extreme transformations he would seek. The evidence is rolling in that he is determined to transform America into a totally secular land where religion is permitted only within the walls of a church, but is banned in every public place, public gathering and public school….
Barack Obama is trying to morph our traditional religious liberty to the lesser scope of freedom of worship. That means worship only inside a church, or maybe a synagogue, but not any public affirmation of belief in God.
Schlafly must have missed Obama’s inauguration, not to mention the administration’s Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships and ongoing federal funding of religiously affiliated social service organizations.   Or perhaps she cares less about the truth than about convincing conservative Christians that Obama is their enemy.

AFA Promotes Barton's Christian-Persecution Bunk

The American Family Association describes itself as “a Christian organization promoting the biblical ethic of decency in American society with emphasis on moral issues that impact families.”  We know from AFA’s primary spokesperson Bryan Fischer that rank bigotry doesn’t seem to run afoul of AFA’s definition of decency.  So where does honesty figure in?

The July-August 2012 issue of the group’s magazine, AFA Journal, includes a two-page spread from David Barton, the “historian” whose lies and misrepresentations have earned him condemnation from actual scholars – including evangelical Christians. The article, “Evidence of executive enmity” supposedly summarizes the evidence that the “anti-biblical” President Obama “has an ax to grind with people of biblical faith.”  Barton complains about a range of Obama administration policies and recycles false and misleading claims that have been repeatedly debunked, as RWW’s Kyle Mantyla has noted repeatedly. Barton also claims that Obama demonstrated “preferential deference for Islam’s activities and positions.”

Among Barton's Christian-persecution claims is that retired Lt. Gen. William Jerry Boykin was disinvited from speaking at West Point “because he is an outspoken Christian.”  (In reality Boykin was disinvited after many faculty and cadets – most of them Christian – opposed Boykin as an inappropriate speaker given his inflammatory statements describing US foreign policy as a spiritual war against Islam.)

Also featured in the AFA Journal is a quote from “Catholic sociologist” David R. Carlin, Jr, asserting in Crisis magazine that “[T]he drive for same sex marriage is not simply about same sex marriage or the moral legitimization of homosexual behavior; it is also about the de-legitimizing of Christian morality” and that “those who are pushing for the institution of same sex marriage are ipso facto pushing for the elimination of the Christian religion.”  But what about all those Christians who support marriage equality? Carlin dismisses them: "The trouble with 'liberal Christianity' is that it isn’t Christianity."
