Final Thoughts

Judging from the reaction of voucher advocates, you'd think that the Zelman decision erased the evidence exposing the dangers and unfulfilled promises of vouchers. But as voucher proponents try to revive their movement, this evidence will continue to haunt them.

Moreover, contrary to their rhetoric linking vouchers to the cause of civil rights, virtually none of these pro-voucher groups has demonstrated a genuine interest in securing a quality education for every single child in America. If this were truly their goal, they would cease their costly and polarizing campaign, and lend their support to class-size reduction, teacher quality initiatives, after-school programs and other real reforms that have been proven to make a difference for children.
