Farris: Obama Wants To 'Crush Religious Freedom,' Would Have Deported The Pilgrims

UPDATE: After trashing the Obama administration, Farris announced today that "a Supervisor with the Department of Homeland Security called a member of our legal team to inform us that the Romeike family has been granted 'indefinite deferred status.'"

Fox News commentator Todd Starnes is furious that the Romeike family, a family that left Germany for Tennessee over disagreements with German homeschooling laws, has lost its petition for asylum. And of course, Starnes and Michael Farris, who has been representing the Romeike family, blame President Obama.

The Supreme Court yesterday denied an appeal by the Romeikes of a Board of Immigration Appeals ruling that found that they are not eligible for asylum.

The Sixth Circuit ruled against the Romeike’s petition last year, with Judge Jeffrey Sutton — a George W. Bush appointee — finding that “the German authorities have not singled out the Romeikes in particular or homeschoolers in general for persecution.” Conservative legal commentator Eugene Volokh notes that a ruling in favor of the Romeike family would effectively give asylum to anyone who disagreed with their home countries’ laws.

But Farris isn’t having any of it, claiming that the Obama administration seeks “to crush religious freedom” and would have deported the pilgrims: “Had this administration been waiting at Plymouth Rock, they would’ve told the Pilgrims to go back home.”

Starnes, meanwhile, seems to think that undocumented immigrants in America, unlike the Romeike clan, do not want legal status in the US: “There are nearly 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. You’d think the Obama administration could find a place [sic] eight immigrants who want to live here legally.”

“I think this is a part of the Obama administration’s overall campaign to crush religious freedom in this country,” said Michael Farris, chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association. His organization is representing family.

“The Obama administration’s attitude toward religious freedom, particularly religious freedom for Christians is shocking,” he told me in an exclusive telephone interview. “I have little doubt that if this family had been of some other faith that the decision would have never been appealed in the first place. They would have let this family stay.”

Had the family stayed in Germany, where homeschooling is illegal, they would have faced the prospect of losing their children. Like the Pilgrims, they fled their homeland yearning for a place where they could be free.

Farris said the religious bias perpetrated by the Obama administration is “palpable.”

“It’s a denial of the essence of America,” he said. “The Pilgrims left England to go to Holland to seek religious freedom. They came here to seek religious freedom and parental rights for their children. Had this administration been waiting at Plymouth Rock, they would’ve told the Pilgrims to go back home.”

There are nearly 12 million illegal immigrants living in the United States. You’d think the Obama administration could find a place eight immigrants who want to live here legally.

Farris said the Supreme Court’s decision not to hear the case sends a chilling message to Americans who currently home school their children.

“This administration thinks it’s a privilege to home school – not a right,” he told me. “We’d better buckle down and be ready to fight them every step of the way.”

Please, Mr. President, have mercy on this Christian family. They came to our shores longing to be free. They left their homeland to escape religious persecution. Please, sir. Welcome them to our land with open arms. Bestow upon them a small measure of grace so they might be able to raise their children in the land of the free, the home of the brave.

David Barton's Bizarre Definition Of 'Theocracy'

During his recent discussion with Mike Jacobs, David Barton made a bizarre assertion that fear that the Religious Right seeks to implement a theocracy in America is "stupidity" because  "as long as you have elections, you'll never have a theocracy."

Barton asserted that "this far left stuff that says if Christians get involved, they're trying to make a theocracy" is nonsense and is just something that "wackos on the left and secularists and progressives try to use to keep us intimidated, to make us ashamed of our faith and our values."

"As long as we're having elections," he declared, "there is no possibility of a theocracy":

Well, Iran has elections, so apparently that means it is not a theocracy.

But let's take a moment to examine Barton's logic on this issue. You'll notice that in the middle of his argument, Barton specifically cited Exodus 18 as proof that God wants America to have elections. Ignoring Barton's intentional misrepresentation of this passage, if we take the statement at face value, we have to point out that passage he cites comes as the Israelites are wandering in the desert at a time when they are literally being governed by God. God was physically present among them and all of the laws that Moses set out in Exodus and Leviticus came straight from God, with whom Moses was directly communicating.

This is the literal definition of a theocracy but, according to Barton, it was not a theocracy at all because the Israelites were allowed to have elections.

Michael Farris' Ironic Plan To Remake The Supreme Court

Homeschooling advocate Michael Farris has a new campaign, the Convention of the States Project, which seeks to introduce a constitutional convention to “stop the federal spending and debt spree, the power grabs of the federal courts, and other misuses of federal power.”

He told WorldNetDaily yesterday that the federal government “will most certainly destroy American liberty relatively soon,” and that states must be able “to impeach federal officials from their states.”

Farris also said that the Supreme Court should be replaced by a system of “50 justices and have the states appoint the justices for a specific term (six or eight years) with no right of reappointment” that is modelled after the European Court of Human Rights.

This is more than a little ironic since Farris regularly criticizes the Supreme Court for citing international law, including cases from the European Court of Human Rights. But Farris himself is now proposing “reconfiguring the Supreme Court after the model of the European Court of Human Rights” in order “to ensure a constitutional government.”

“If we allow Washington, D.C., to continue on its current course of big government, it will utterly destroy American liberty. Debt is the most tangible method of destruction. But big government complete with spying on the American public, the improper use of executive orders, over-regulation, etc., etc., will most certainly destroy American liberty relatively soon.”

“State legislatures currently have no power to impeach federal officials from their states. This is not a viable option. This would, however, be a proper amendment to suggest at the Convention of States we are proposing. I like the idea of giving the state governments the power to impeach congressman and senators from their states,” Farris said

Another possibility?

“The federal courts regularly refuse to rule on constitutional issues they want to avoid by calling them ‘political questions’ or by claiming that no one has standing to sue … One of my ideas for an amendment would be to automatically grant state legislatures standing to challenge any action of the federal government as violating its constitutional limitations,” he said.

There also could be a fix to the problem of an entrenched Supreme Court.

“I [would] propose reconfiguring the Supreme Court after the model of the European Court of Human Rights. There are 46 nations in that court’s jurisdiction, and every nation appoints one judge. We should expand the Supreme Court to 50 justices and have the states appoint the justices for a specific term (six or eight years) with no right of reappointment. That one change would do more to ensure a constitutional government than anything I know,” Farris said.

WND: 'You Can Make A Black Woman The First Lady, But That Doesn't Mean She Will Have Any Class'

WorldNetDaily’s Mychal Massie writes today that the new nutrition facts label championed by Michelle Obama is proof that she’s a “bigoted, racialist” first lady who is “usurping authority and inflicting additional financial injury upon an already suffering people.”

Massie claims the cost of the program will add “more unnecessary financial burden” to families; in fact, the New York Times reports that in total, “the health benefits could eventually be as much as $30 billion.” Citing an article from the tabloid the National Enquirer about the first lady’s “disgusting” and “privileged position,” Massie writes that Michelle Obama should “stick to doing jumping-jacks and writhing around on the floor of Ellen DeGeneres’ set, much to the delight of DeGeneres.”

“It proves that you can make a black woman the first lady, but that doesn’t mean she will have any class,” he concludes.

Michelle Obama was not elected to office, and while, by definition, her husband did not usurp the position he dishonors, his bigoted, racialist wife is usurping authority and inflicting additional financial injury upon an already suffering people.

…

Now she is adding more unnecessary financial burden to already suffering families. The cost of implementing the sweeping labeling changes she is responsible for is well over a billion dollars, and that is just a low-ball estimate to silence the critics. The final cost of implementing the labeling changes she is forcing the FDA to make, I submit, will be north of $2 billion – all of which will be passed back to you and me, the consumers.

As the wife of Obama, the first lady is able to enjoy the spoils of his position, but, as I pointed out in a previous column, the DailyMail.com reported a top source “told the National Enquirer that [Michelle is] disgusting. Michelle is taking advantage of her privileged position while the most hardworking Americans can barely afford a week or two off from work.” (See Michelle Obama: First Lady of Spending Taxpayer Money,” Jan. 31, 2014.)

…

It would be barely tolerable if Michelle Obama would stick to doing jumping-jacks and writhing around on the floor of Ellen DeGeneres’ set, much to the delight of DeGeneres. After all, who wouldn’t want the first lady of the United States wallowing around on the floor of their nationally televised talk show? It proves that you can make a black woman the first lady, but that doesn’t mean she will have any class.

American families do not need the additional financial burden her labeling edict brings. The American people need for the Obamas to be gone.

After Refusing To Run For Office, David Barton Lectures Everyone Else On The Importance Of Running For Office

Recently, David Barton sat down for a discussion hosted by Mike Jacobs, co-founder of Generals International along with his wife, "respected prophet" Cindy Jacobs, as well as Mark Herr and Mishelle Perkins of the Center for Self Governance.

During the course of the program, Barton went on at great length about the need for conservative Christians to run for political office because "everything we call the 'culture war' comes from policies the government has passed because we've lost control of our country."

Barton lectured all those who complain about the direction the nation is going but then find all sorts of excuses for why they personally cannot run for office, saying it is exactly the people who don't want to run for office who need to run because they make the best leaders.

Citing the Parable of the Thornbush from Judges 9, Barton asserted that America has bad rulers in office today "because all of the good people say 'I don't want to do any of that, I don't want to get involved, boy, that's corrupt'; well, it's corrupt because all of the good people got out of it":

Allow us to point out that just a few months ago, Barton rejected a high-profile effort to get him to run for office in a race that he publicly stated he could have won because he had better, more important things to do:

The solution to our current American crisis will come from the basic actions of our citizens studying the Constitution, voting and campaigning for good candidates, and helping reduce the size of government by personally helping those around us who are in need.

My family and I have carefully prayed about and seriously weighed the encouragement from so many people we respect who have asked me to run for the Senate. But right now, I believe my role is to continue educating, equipping, and inspiring citizens through the work we do at WallBuilders.

It is a little odd to watch Barton lecture others about the need to follow the Bible and put aside their own interests in order to run for office when he personally refused to do so by literally engaging in the very sort of excuse-making that he now rails against as unbiblical.

Burress: Gay 'Bullies' Attack People Until Same-Sex Marriage Is 'Forced Down Their Throat'

Phil Burress of the Ohio-based Citizens for Community Values says that despite the attempts by gay rights advocates to "brainwash" people into support marriage equality and have the issue "forced down their throat," people intrinsically oppose same-sex marriage.

Burress, who encouraged Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH) to put his son in ex-gay therapy, of course would never support such brainwashing!

He told Mission America host Linda Harvey on Saturday that the polls, such as one showing a majority of Ohioans supporting marriage equality, are skewed because surveys may not be able to register the sentiments of people who oppose same-sex marriage but won't say so because they are afraid of getting "harassed" and "beat up on" by gay "bullies."

Burress insisted that people "know in their heart" that same-sex marriage is wrong, while Harvey added that they also "know that homosexual behavior is really, essentially, disordered."

Burress: This is a hard issue. That's why from 2004-2013, in just about every poll that I've seen there's only about 6 percent on average, 6 percent of the people that don't have their mind made up on this issue. People know in their heart that there's something wrong with this picture and they're adjusting their heart. The 6 percent are being swayed with TV ads, propaganda, radio, all the media, and I find it absolutely encouraging that after all of this time that's been going on and people have been brainwashed and this has been forced down their throat that they're revealing a poll that only 47 percent of the people support same-sex marriage.

...

Burress: In just about every election, we always do better at the polls than what the polls say when it comes to support of marriage of one man and one woman. I had a long conversation with George Barna last November out in San Francisco, I said: "George, when you do these polls, do you keep track of how many of these people refuse to answer a question?" I think you're going to have more people who will not answer a question about where they stand on same-sex marriage than other questions because they're afraid. They're afraid they're going to be harassed and they're going to be beat up on and they're going to be, you know -- that's their tactic, they're bullies Linda, they're bullies, that's how they got to where they are. You cannot win in the long term being a bully, it just doesn't work. You gotta to win with logic and you gotta change people's hearts and in their hearts they know that marriage is between one man and one woman.

Harvey: And they know that homosexual behavior is really, essentially, disordered.

A Week Late, Glenn Beck Bravely Calls For The US To Have Boycotted The Sochi Olympics

A week after the completion of the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Glenn Beck is now bravely declaring that the United States ought to have boycotted the games.

These games had been in the works for seven years and were the focus of national coverage for several weeks leading up to and during the actual games, and never once did Beck, as far as we can recall, ever call for a US boycott of the Winter Olympics.

But today, while discussing the crisis in Ukraine on his radio program, Beck blasted media coverage of the games for not adequately reporting on Russian President Vladimir Putin's totalitarianism and proclaimed that the United States should not have even agreed to participate in the games in order to give hope to oppressed peoples all over the world.

Responding to a point by co-host Pat Gray that boycotting the Olympics would mostly just hurt American Olympic athletes, Beck was utterly unmoved.

"Yes, it would hurt our Olympics. Boo hoo," he stated. "Cry me a river":

Keyes: Obama 'Is The First Anti-American Occupant Of The White House'

In a post for Tea Party Nation today, Alan Keyes warns that President Obama wants "to compel the reluctant majority of the American people down the path of failed and discredited socialist party dictatorship."

Keyes writes that Obama's "self-destructive" policies are proof that "he is the first anti-American occupant of the White House in U.S. history."

"The challenge is total, and the stakes are no less than our survival as a viable, independent nation," Keyes writes. "It is no longer a matter of politics, but of allegiance- to our Constitution, our nation, our liberty."

In every respect Barack Obama has repeatedly shown himself to be a fanatical ideologue. His words, policies and actions support the conclusion that he is the first anti-American occupant of the White House in U.S. history. Apparently the only power he does not want the Federal government to control is the power to defend the nation.

Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, many people go on assuming that Obama seeks somehow to serve the nation's good. He has rejected the moral premises, criticized the principles and undermined the authority of the Constitution. He has pursued fiscal policies that promise to destroy the good faith and credit of the U.S. Government and bankrupt its Treasury. He has pursued military policies with no rational strategic context or purpose, fruitlessly eroding the strength and morale of our armed forces. Ignoring the unequivocal lessons of history, he has pursued economic and social policies that assault the private sector, curtail individual economic liberty and aim to compel the reluctant majority of the American people down the path of failed and discredited socialist party dictatorship.

On any assumption of goodwill toward America and its institutions, Obama's policies appear incoherent, disjointed, incompetent and self-destructive. On the assumption of hostility toward America's vital interests and its way of life, however, they resolve into the rational, coherent and indeed directly linear pursuit of its destruction.

...

Obama and his faction now threaten the future of America on all fronts. Those who wish to preserve the nation must come together in the realization that we do not face a challenge on this issue or that. The challenge is total, and the stakes are no less than our survival as a viable, independent nation. It is no longer a matter of politics, but of allegiance- to our Constitution, our nation, our liberty. We must reject the moral, economic and military disarmament of America. We must reject Obama, and all his faction and all its works.

Bill Johnson: Marriage Equality Leads To 'Chaos And Dysfunction'

Reacting to the legal challenge of Michigan's marriage equality ban, American Decency Association head Bill Johnson last week told the ABC affiliate WZZM that there will be divine repercussions for legalizing same-sex marriage and blamed the "mainstream media" for its "relentless" promotion of "this alternative lifestyle."

He added: "I believe that as we turn our back upon God and upon his standard, it opens this culture, it opens our families, it opens each of us as individuals to increasing lawlessness, chaos and dysfunction."

The ADA also said that gay "special rights" will lead to "despotism" and the end of freedom:

How things have changed since President Reagan so eloquently spoke of that first constitutionally guaranteed right – our religious liberty. What do we now see from our current president, his administration, and imperious judges? A commanded worship at the altar of political correctness. A mandated belief in special “rights” for homosexuals that supersedes religious liberty. A stripping away of freedom “to speak and act” on our beliefs and “apply moral teaching to public questions.”

...

Like dominoes falling, each day we see another example of lawlessness and despotism kicking at the legs of liberty.

Jack Hibbs' Bizarre Argument Against Providing Protection For Transgender Students In Public Schools

Brad Dacus and his Pacific Justice Institute have been leading the fight against laws designed to protect transgender students in public schools and Pastor Jack Hibbs has been very involved in the battle against just such a law in California.

Recently, Hibbs interviewed Dacus about the law and uncorked one of the strangest arguments against it that we have ever heard. Claiming that teenage boys will do whatever they can to "sneak a peek" at the girls in the school while they are in the bathroom or the locker room, Hibbs asserted that some kid will "pull a stunt" and claim to be transgender just so he can get access to the girl's locker room, which he will be allowed to due under the California law.

But after that happens, Hibbs predicted that word will spread around campus and "there's going to be young men that are going to target that kid and really, really lay it on him. It's going to make bulling worse."

"That's going to happen," he boldly declared, asking who will be held responsible when this kid has his teeth knocked out and winds up in the hospital:

Why Are Right-Wing Media Outlets Embracing Anti-Semitic Tabloids?

The neoconservative Middle Eastern Media Research Institute (MEMRI) is out with a new report about how Muslim Brotherhood supporters and critics alike have embraced an anti-Semitic narrative, driven in part by Egyptian tabloids that are frequently cited by American right-wing news outlets.

While it should be noted that MEMRI has a history of "twisting translations to portray criticisms of Israel and its driving ideology, Zionism, as anti-Semitic," in this case it is reporting on the widely-observed fact that several pro-government press outlets in Egypt have promoted the conspiracy theory that Israel is behind the Muslim Brotherhood.

"The pro-government press in Egypt," The Economist reports, has spread warnings about a "Zionist-American-Muslim Brotherhood plot" to "divide and weaken Israel’s most powerful Arab neighbours, one by one.... Here, the cabal of Israeli, Western and Islamist plotters set out to foment sectarian strife, and to install a Muslim Brotherhood government that would divide the country into two, perhaps four, weakened micro-states."

American conservatives have championed many of these same Egyptian media outlets because they are heavily critical of President Obama, with some even accusing the president of being an agent of the Muslim Brotherhood.

MEMRI found that Egyptian newspapers including Al-Wafd and Roz Al-Youssef have promoted anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. Al-Wafd claimed that the Muslim Brotherhood and Mohamed Morsi were tools of Israel and were implementing the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion," while Roz Al-Youssef claimed the Muslim Brotherhood is a "Masonic, Jewish, Zionist organization."

Right-wing publications in the US have heavily promoted the work of Al-Wafd and Roz Al-Youssef, despite the newspapers' anti-Semitic bents.

American outlets including WorldNetDaily, FrontPageMag and The Blaze have championed Roz Al-Youssef's conspiracy-laden "report" about Muslim Brotherhood agents in the Obama administration. FormerRepublican congressman and Colorado gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez and anti-Muslim activist Robert Spencer have also promoted the “report”; Spencer crowed that the publication's work "vindicated [Michele] Bachmann" in her McCarthy-esque hunt for Muslim Brotherhood agents in the federal government.

Al-Wafd, which has painted Obama as Satan , has found its reports accusing Obama of being a Muslim Brotherhood member highlighted in The Blaze.

Desperate to smear the Obama administration as ridden with Muslim Brotherhood agents, it seems that several US conservative outlets don't mind relying on publications that embrace anti-Semitism and hoaxes such as the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion."

Star Parker: Gays Forcing Christians 'Into The Closet'

At last year's Values Voter Summit, Star Parker attacked the gay rights movement, telling gay people to "keep it private."

Now, Parker is warning that "the 'gay rights' crusade" wants "to push Christian reality, once and for all, into the closet and to lock the door."

Parker writes in a WorldNetDaily column this week, entitled, "'Gay' Agenda: A Cultural War Against Christians," that the demise of Arizona's "right-to-discriminate" bill means that Christian-owned businesses will lose their First Amendment rights and be "put out of business."

The reality is that the “gay rights” crusade is not about a struggle for justice, but rather it is a cultural war.

Homosexual activists understand the ongoing erosion of traditional values as a pillar of our society and use this opportunity to push Christian reality, once and for all, into the closet and to lock the door.

The cultural script has been re-written such that Christians have been put in a position of either rejecting the precepts and prohibitions of their religion, or being faithful to them and being branded as against “equality.”

...

Christians have been put in the untenable position that being true to their faith means, by the new standards set in our society, being labeled a bigot and then being exposed to being put out of business.

Let’s keep in mind that the idea of religious freedom only means something as long as religion means something.

It is critical that Christians draw the line and continue the struggle and not allow religion or religious freedom to be compromised. Individuals or businesses forced to supply goods or services for activities against the precepts of their faith must refuse and call forth their protection under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Daubenmire: 'There Was A Day When We Used To Think That Being Gay Was A Mental Illness'

"Coach" Dave Daubenmire doesn't understand what is so "special" about homosexuality that people get so upset when he criticizes, since nobody gets mad when he criticizes other sins like alcoholism and lying.

In fact, it is not all that long ago, Daubenmire reminded his viewers, when homosexuality was widely considered to be a mental illness, just as "schizophrenic pedophilia" is considered to be one today. Be he didn't "want to even get into the debate because the gay bashers will get after me again" for even bringing up the issue.

"What is so special about that sin?" Daubenmire wanted to know. "Why is it there's a movement behind that that is one of the most aggressive movements out there attacking Christian values?"

At Grimes’ Fundraiser, Clinton and Kentucky Dems Call Out GOP Obstruction

Weighing into one of the most watched Senate races this election cycle, Bill Clinton spoke at a campaign event in Louisville on Tuesday putting his political weight behind Alison Lundergan Grimes, who is challenging Sen. Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Clinton took the opportunity to call out Republican obstruction in government, alluding to the “dumb way” the GOP has tried to run the country:

In the end that’s really what Alison is telling you: ‘Send me to Washington and I’ll do something that makes sense and if there’s a problem with it, I’ll fix it.’ And the other … choice is to just pout if … your party is not in the White House, and make as many problems as you can, stop anything good from happening, and if you can’t stop it at least badmouth it. And then … when there’s a problem do everything you can to make sure the problem is never fixed. … It’s a dumb way to run a country.

Speaking before Clinton, Democratic Rep. John Yarmuth held the Minority Leader accountable for his horrible record of big money in politics, putting it pithily:

[He] is the one who says money is speech. If you have money, he’ll listen.

Religious Right Leader With GOP Ties Under Investigation For Sexual Harassment, Abuse Cover-up

Another leader of the right-wing Quiverfull movement is now in danger of losing his post over a sex scandal. Homeschooling advocate Bill Gothard has been put on administrative leave from the organization he heads, the Institute in Basic Life Principles, in response to allegations from thirty-four different women that he engaged in sexual harassment and failed to notify Child Protective Services about abuse claims.

The allegations against Gothard are chronicled on the website Recovering Grace, which aims to expose the activist’s record of “emotional, spiritual, and sexual abuse.”

The revelations about Gothard’s alleged misconduct are another blow to the patriarchal, anti-birth control Quiverfull movement, which suffered a setback last year when Vision Forum head Doug Phillips resigned because of an extramarital affair.

Gothard’s Institute in Basic Life Principles has been championed by conservative figures including Rick Perry and Sarah Palin, who attended one of the institute’s conferences and adopted its “Character Cities” program as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska. Mike Huckabee has provided an endorsement of the group for its website: “As a person who has actually been through the Basic Seminar, I am confident that these are some of the best programs available for instilling character into the lives of people.” GOP mega-donor Jim Leininger was once a member of the IBLP’s advisory board.

TLC’s Duggar family are also followers of Gothard’s teachings on homeschooling and Quiverfull families, which teaches that “the husband is the undisputed leader of the family.”

After Gothard’s close ties to Florida congressman Daniel Webster became an issue in a 2010 congressional election, Sarah Posner released an exposé on how the IBLP promotes marital submission and cult-like practices.

She quoted critics who said Gothard instilled a “culture of fear” and preached “the terrible picture of the chain of command in the family with the husband as the hammer, the wife as the chisel and the children as the gems in the rough... The ghastly picture is that he beats on her and she chips on them.” One woman who belonged to the movement said that Gothard taught that women “don’t have any rights.”

He also claimed that he had an “ability to heal ‘stress’ and cancer” and instructed men on how to guard against Satanic attacks on his family.

Gothard taught that homosexuality would lead to the End Times:

He used the graphic of a thermometer to illustrate the moral temperature of society. The lowest and healthiest temperature was the ideal characterized by a spiritually moral society guided by the Laws of God. The next level up showing a rising unhealthy temperature was the development of concupiscence where the soulical natural man with his sensual cravings had begun to dominate and suppress the spiritual. The next level up representing the highest and most dangerous threat to a vibrant society was blatant perversion or homosexuality. Gothard said “That when a society reaches the point of condoning perversion, God will destroy that society” (Israel and Rome are examples from the past).

This wouldn’t be the first scandal for the Gothard family either, as “Gothard’s own brother, who worked for IBLP, was dismissed from his organization after it was discovered that he was having sex with students.”

The Baptist website Ethics Daily reported on abuse allegations stemming from the institute’s “cult-like” and “abusive” practices back in 2007.

One woman who recounted her experience working for Gothard on Recovering Grace said that IBLP board members were well aware of complaints from girls as young as fifteen-years-old:

What I did not know was that in the Summer and Fall of 1997, after the San Jose conference and around the time I arrived at Headquarters, the father of one of the young men on the San Jose trip had approached the IBLP Board with a spectrum of concerns about Gothard’s conduct, particularly his penchant for taking young girls on road trips and conducting himself in a questionable manner with them while on those trips. I do not know what Gothard’s verbal or written response was to the Board when presented with these concerns, but I know firsthand that his conduct with me and other young women did not alter in the months after the Board asked him to change his behavior. The other girls and I were all between 15 and 24 years of age.

I stayed and worked at Headquarters because it was too late for me to start college that year, and because I wanted to make a success of my first job. I stopped explaining away Gothard’s creepy and invasive behavior with young women, although I believed myself powerless to do anything about it. I repeatedly saw him initiate long hand-holding sessions with various young women on staff wherein he would rub and massage their hands as he gazed into their eyes. I heard him praise two of my housemates effusively for their “discipline of figure” after one of them lost weight during a serious illness and the other started exhibiting all symptoms of full-on anorexia nervosa, while other girls were “reassigned” from Headquarters for becoming too heavy. I tentatively discussed Gothard’s hyper-tactile behavior with girls who were or had been in my place. I saw girls rotate on and off of Gothard’s roster of favored companions and stopped trying to convince myself that every brush of his hand against a thigh must be a unique accident. There were always between two and six girls on this rotation, and I couldn’t figure out how to get off of it.

Beck: 'Unbeknownst To Him,' Jonathan Turley Was Quoting The Bible

Earlier this week, George Washington University Law professor Jonathan Turley testified before the House Judiciary Committee at a hearing is entitled "Enforcing the President’s Constitutional Duty to Faithfully Execute the Laws." Turley has long been a critic of the expansion of executive power and it's encroachment onto the roles constitutionally designated to the other branches of government.

At the hearing, Turley testified that the encroachment of executive power has gotten worse under President Obama, which has made him a hero to Glenn Beck who explained on his radio broadcast today that something Turley said during his testimony came straight out of the Book of Isaiah, though Turley probably did not even know it.

In Turley's statement that "our system is changing in a very fundamental way, and it’s changing without a whimper of regret or opposition," Beck heard the words of Isaiah 10 in which God warns that he will pushing the nation of Assyria for the wickedness of its rulers:

And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

"Jonathan Turley," Beck said, "most likely unbeknownst to him was quoting Isaiah":

Klingenschmitt: Any Judge Who Rules For Marriage Equality 'Is A Domestic Enemy'

Gordon Klingenschmitt is aghast at the recent federal court rulings across the country in favor of marriage equality, telling members of his Pray In Jesus Name Project that “this is way beyond the point where it’s gotten out-of-hand.”

He calls on Congress to impeach and remove from office any judge who sides with pro-gay rights plaintiffs, since any such judge is “a domestic enemy of the Constitution.”

“These lawless judges replace Democracy with dictatorship, abrogate the U.S. Constitution, flaunt the laws of God and nature, assume jurisdiction they don’t have, and overturn the overwhelming vote of good people,” Klingenschmitt writes. “May God have mercy on these tyrants’ souls, when they are judged in eternity.

This is way beyond the point where it’s gotten out-of-hand. The lawlessness on the federal bench requires a house-cleaning. We need a new President to appoint new judges. But until that happens, we MUST pressure Congress to intervene.

Christians do not lose their right to vote simply because they are religious. These lawless judges replace Democracy with dictatorship, abrogate the U.S. Constitution, flaunt the laws of God and nature, assume jurisdiction they don’t have, and overturn the overwhelming vote of good people. May God have mercy on these tyrants’ souls, when they are judged in eternity.

There is NO mention of sexual orientation in the Constitution, and any judge who imagines one is a domestic enemy of the Constitution, and should be impeached and removed from office. We must demand Congress hold the line, and protect the traditional definition of marriage FEDERALLY, like the Oklahoma people did by state.

Paulk: God Punishes Gays With Early Death, Disease

Last year, Anne Paulk and her husband, ex-gay poster boy John Paulk, separated after he announced that he is still gay and criticized the ex-gay movement.

But she is still very much the ex-gay activist and on Wednesday appeared on Religious Right broadcaster Janet Parshall’s radio show to “offer Biblical answers for those struggling with same sex attraction,” including her belief that gay men are punished with disease and early death for having sex with other men:

Our functionality of our bodies aligns with the intended functionality of our sexuality and put within parameters that are healthy and safe for us. Men having sex with men is medically unsound, it propels a man towards an early death by a disastrous disease. Romans 1 of course talks about that sort of thing occurring with those that do such things, ‘the due penalty for their error.’ That’s not quite what we’re after; what we’re after is repentance and rest for those who are struggling with their identity and for those who are thinking ‘am I gay?’

She later spoke to a caller who said that Satan haunted him through the night telling him he was gay, but Paulk said that since he resisted and “threw off the lie that he is gay,” he became a “whole man.”

Caller: I actually stayed up one night in college and at the time I wasn’t a Christian but I was under so much depression from previous relationships with other women that the Devil actually kept me up that night trying to tell me that ‘you’re gay, you’re gay, you’re gay’ because I was just that depressed and I was almost haunted and he was trying to make me believe that. I just kind of prayed it out because I had that biblical background and I woke up and I was like, ‘oh my gosh, it’s gone, thank the Lord.’ It’s really interesting.

Paulk: Thank you Dustin. Certainly homosexual feelings or behavior can happen and then if you come to the Lord and you repent, which means to turn away from, to change your mind about, and you repent, and you surrender to him and you his forgiveness, in 1 John 1:9 it says ‘He will forgive you and cleanse you from your unrighteousness’ and that’s exactly what happened with Dustin. You have to believe what’s true and that will set the course of your life. Dustin threw off the lie that he is gay and he is a whole man walking forward but that takes some battle, takes some fight.

Keith Fournier: Marriage Equality Will Be Just As Deadly As China's Cultural Revolution

Keith Fournier, the editor of Catholic Online and head of the Common Good Alliance, issued a warning today in response to the Texas marriage equality decision, predicting that same-sex marriage will lead to as much violence as China’s Cultural Revolution, which left millions dead.

In a post on Matt Barber’s website BarbWire, Fournier writes that marriage must be “liberated” from gay people who are ushering in “nothing less than a Cultural Revolution. I know that some of my readers do not like it when I use the term Cultural Revolution. They object because the term was identified with the reassertion of Maoism in China. That movement, which turned violent, caused extraordinary social turmoil. That is PRECISELY why the analogy is apropos.”

Encouraging readers to attend a National Organization for Marriage march in June, he hailed anti-gay activists as the “true liberators” and “advocates for a society of human flourishing and freedom” who are preventing the “cultural slide into the abyss of relativism.”

Like propagandists of the past, they attempt to frame public perception by calling those who defend marriage as being against what they call ‘marriage equality’. However, homosexual and lesbian partnerships are incapable of achieving the ends of marriage. The marchers in China, in France and all over the world are the proponents, the defenders, of true liberation. They are advocates for a society of human flourishing and freedom. They defend real marriage and thereby defend the rights of children to a mother and father. They promote the common good.

The marchers are a part of a global Marriage Defense Movement. This new counter-cultural movement is about to reshape history. It crosses racial, ethnic, socio-economic, religious, philosophical and political lines. The members of this Marriage Defense movement seek to defend and to liberate marriage from the propagandists and Cultural Revolutionaries who oppose it and are working undermine it. They seek to defend marriage.

Marriage ‘is what it is’, to use a popular expression. The effort to redefine the word and then use the mechanisms of the State to entirely restructure this institution inscribed in the Natural Law – and replace it – is what is at stake here. Those who advocate giving moral and legal equivalency to homosexual and lesbian relationships are the people who oppose marriage. Their intention is to entirely reorder civil society. They use the phrase ‘marriage equality’ in an Orwellian act of verbal engineering.

This is a propaganda ploy and a tactic aimed at nothing less than a Cultural Revolution. I know that some of my readers do not like it when I use the term Cultural Revolution. They object because the term was identified with the reassertion of Maoism in China. That movement, which turned violent, caused extraordinary social turmoil. That is PRECISELY why the analogy is apropos.

To state this bluntly is not to be ‘anti-gay’; it is simply to defend marriage and the common good. This is a noble cause. Those who promote and defend marriage are not bigots, they are the true liberators! Though the Marriage Defense Marchers represent every segment of society, and reflect a wide range of ages, ethnic identities and political persuasions, they were collectively labeled as conservatives in much of the international press.

There is a growing intolerance spreading which directly threatens our rights to free expression, association and political participation. This is reflected in a brazen effort to censor any speech which questions the cultural slide into the abyss of relativism. Efforts to prevent our vocal and public defense of the objective truth about marriage and the family are multiplying. However, they are not succeeding. The streets of Washington, DC need to be filled with hundreds of thousands of supporters of Marriage on June 19, 2014.

Paranoia-Rama: Obama's Homo Demons, President Satan & Arizona Penis Cakes

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

Apparently, Satan is going to install the next president, use gay people to destroy the black community and take over the world to bring about the Last Days. But at least we can enjoy “penis cakes” before the world comes to an end.

5) Obamacare Race War

Just as Ted Nugent isn’t actually sorry for calling President Obama a “subhuman mongrel,” the National Rifle Association board member and Republican surrogate also isn’t backing down from his statements likening President Obama to the Nazis.

When conservative talk show host Dennis Miller told Nugent he didn’t buy his Nazi comparison, Nugent insisted that the president is using the IRS and the health care reform law to spark a race war “like the brownshirts.” Media Matters grabbed the clip:

4) Satan Will Put A Witch In The White House

The Trinity Broadcasting Network considers Kim Clement a prophet, and so should you! The TBN host recently prophesied that Satan will “put a witch in the White House” who will advance the demonic spirit of “Jezebel,” and can only be stopped by a socialism-slaying politician.

3) Penis Cakes On The Way

Tea Party Nation head Judson Phillips is aggrieved that Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed her state’s ‘right-to-discriminate’ bill, a decision which he believes will lead to “tyranny,” “fascism” and “slavery.” In fact, he believes that bakers will now be forced to bake penis cakes:

Should a devote baker be required to create a cake for a homosexual wedding that has a giant phallic symbol on it or should a baker be required to create pastries for a homosexual wedding in the shape of genitallia [sic]? Or should a photographer be required to photograph a homosexual wedding where the participants decide they want to be nude or engage in sexual behavior?

We’re not sure what sort of weddings Phillips is used to attending, but we wish we had been invited.

2) The World Has Gone Gay

Scott Lively has been on a roll lately after launching a new anti-gay group, insisting that his fight against gay rights is literally a life-or-death battle against Satan. During an interview with Janet Mefferd where he explained why he believes LGBT equality is triggering the coming of the End Times, Lively said that there should be a “revolution” to defeat the socialist “conspiracy” aimed at “homosexualizing the whole world.”

1) Beware Obama’s ‘Homo Demons’

Far-far-right pastor James David Manning is at it again, this time hailing anti-gay leaders in Uganda, Gambia and Nigeria for resisting “this son of Satan Barack Hussein Obama” and his “anti-integrity, anti-life, anti-humanity, anti-universal understanding, anti-DNA” gay rights agenda.

Manning said that the decisions of Jason Collins and Michael Sam to come out of the closet are proof that “Obama has released these demons particularly upon the black males, this homosexual demon, hoping to influence as many black males to subscribe to ideas that are [as] homosexual, perverted, LGBT as possible.”

“Obama has released the homo demons on the black man; look out black woman, a white homo may take your man.” He said that under Obama’s direction, black men “are being scooped up by white homos,” thus destroying the black family.

The white homo is now moving into the black neighborhoods, looking for black men that have been converted into homosexuality. Black woman let me say something to you: You will have a very hard time competing against a white homosexual male, he’s usually got money, a white homo usually has an American Express card, he usually has an opportunity at the theatre, homos love the theatre, they love to go out to dinner parties, they love that kind of a thing. As a black woman you can’t compete not only with the financial strength of a white homo, black sister, this is devastating, black people need to rise up en masse and recognize the utter destruction that Obama is going in to destroy the black family with his homosexual statements and release of demons that he has done.
