Michael Brown Defends Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Law As Necessary To Fight HIV/AIDS

Religious Right talk show host Michael Brown said yesterday on Line of Fire Radio that Americans shouldn’t oppose the new Ugandan law which makes being gay a criminal offense warranting life imprisonment.

Brown said that the law is necessary to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS and combat pedophilia, arguing: “Uganda has some very strong reasons for having issues with homosexual practice.”

Brown added: “What Uganda said is we are against gay propaganda in the schools, we are against kids being indoctrinated into these things or being told that this is normal and acceptable, we are against open homosexual practice and you may have some laws that seem harsh and draconian, it’s also part of African law and African culture.”

Cathi Herrod: Soldiers Fought Wars To Preserve Right To Discriminate Against Gays

The president of a right-wing Arizona group that’s advocating for the state’s gay segregation bill said yesterday that the extremist legislation is simply an expression of the religious freedom that American service members fight to preserve.

Speaking withto Family Research Council president Tony Perkins on yesterday’s edition of Washington Watch, Cathi Herrod of the Center for Arizona Policy accused the bill’s opponents of “incredible hostility to religion.”

“Our first freedom, our ability to live out our religious belief as our founders intended, as wars have been fought for our right to live out our religious belief, that is what is very much under attack,” Herrod said, adding that she is shocked that people would oppose the right-to-discriminate bill. “This was non-controversial until the last four or five days.”

She told Perkins that listeners should “pray for a miracle and to pray for an intervention” for the governor to sign the legislation.

ADF: Religious People Will Become 'Second Class Citizens' If Gay Segregation Bill Isn't Signed Into Law

In an interview yesterday on Line of Fire Radio, Alliance Defending Freedom counsel Joseph La Rue defended the Arizona gay segregation that bill the ADF helped craft.

La Rue insisted that religious people will be “treated as second class citizens by their government” if the legislation — passed by both houses of the Arizona legislature — isn’t signed into law, and preposterously claimed that the bill “is not about denying service.”

“Comparing it to Jim Crow is just beyond the pale,” he said.

Truth In Action Ministries: Grammys Sign Of God's Judgment On America

Truth in Action Ministries spokesmen John Robe and Jerry Newcombe are lashing out at this year’s Grammy Awards show for featuring a mass wedding celebration that included same-sex couples. While discussing the Grammys on Sunday’s edition of Truth That Transforms, Newcombe asked: “How low can we go?”

“It’s as if we’ve gone as far as we can go now,” Rabe said, adding that he was offended that the wedding service included a church background and choir.

Rabe said the ceremony was proof that we’re in “a culture under judgment,” while Newcombe worried that people from around the world will think “Americans are into” gay marriage.

Wiles And Son: Pat Robertson Attacked Young Earth Creationism Because He Wants To Fit In

On yesterday's TruNews radio program, End Times broadcaster Rick Wiles brought his son Jeremy on to push back against Pat Robertson's recent assertion that Young Earth Creationism is "a joke."

As Jeremy Wiles explained, we could not possibly know that the earth is billions of years old because Noah's flood would have washed away all the evidence. Thus, the reason that Robertson is making this claim, Wiles asserted, is because "he doesn't want to feel like an outcast" and is trying to make the Bible fit in with the secular scientific worldview.

But that is a losing strategy, he explained, because history has always shown that the Bible is one hundred percent scientifically accurate, which is why Christians have always known that the earth is round while it was the scientists who believed that the world was flat:

Jeremy Wiles: I think Pat is trying to fit the Bible into modern scientific  thinking. I really think that he feels the pressure from the scientific community, not so much because there's evidence to support billions of years but rather because he wants to conform to the idea so that he can have a more acceptable worldview. He doesn't want to feel like an outcast, but history has shown the Bible is scientifically accurate time and again.

Scientists once thought the world was flat. Columbus faced opposition in his attempt to find a western route to Asia because people thought the earth was flat. But the Bible told us He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth. The Bible is teaching us the earth is a globe, it was round, it was a circle, a sphere.

Rick Wiles: And I think about Obama, when he wants to mock Christians or conservatives, he'll refer to them as the Flat Earth Society. But the Christians were not the ones who were saying the earth was flat, it was the scientists. The Christians knew the earth was round because they read the Bible and they believed the Bible.

For the record, the idea that most people believed the earth to be flat is a myth as "no educated person in the history of Western Civilization from the third century B.C. onward believed that the earth was flat."

National Religious Broadcasters: Boehner, GOP Leaders Agree Government Will Try To Shut Us Down

In an interview with the American Family Association’s Tim Wildmon at the National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) convention yesterday, NRB president Jerry Johnson said that the FCC or the IRS will try to shut down religious television broadcasts as a result of “de facto Sharia law” and the issue of same-sex marriage.

“I think there is a de facto Sharia law effect, where we’re not under Sharia law but broadcasters feel like they can’t talk about Jesus and the Quran, Jesus and Mohammad,” Johnson warned. “The government has a new view of marriage, they are pushing it down and increasingly broadcasters and folks in industry—we’re seeing industry censorship.”

Later in the interview, Johnson said that he recently told Speaker John Boehner, Republican senators and congressman. and an FCC commissioner that “it won’t be long” until the FCC threatens broadcasters’ licenses or the IRS scrutinizes their tax status over their stance on same-sex marriage. “This threat is coming and I want to say all of these men agreed with me, all of them.”

We can assure Johnson that every day we observe broadcasters—both secular and religious—criticize same-sex marriage and Islam without limits on their speech.

Robertson: 'Un-American' To Oppose Anti-Gay Segregation Bills

Today on the 700 Club, Pat Robertson criticized Attorney General Eric Holder’s latest announcement on gay rights and defended the efforts of lawmakers in states such as Arizona and Kansas to legalize anti-LGBT discrimination. Robertson unbelievably claimed that such right-to-discriminate bills won’t hurt anybody: “What we’re looking at here is a basic fundamental right of American people to conduct their business in ways they want to as long as it doesn’t hurt somebody else.”

“There’s something un-American about forcing a bakery to bake a wedding cake for a couple they don’t like,” Robertson said. “If they don’t like the people, that’s the way it is.” He said that such businesses are merely following the leadership of the “Soup Nazi.”

“This is ridiculous.”

History 101 With The AFA: Vladimir Lenin Was A Tsar

Pediatric surgeon and conservative media star Ben Carson sat down with American Family Association president Tim Wildmon today for a discussion of the Marxist plan to take down America. Carson told Wildmon that Karl Marx and Vladimir Lenin wanted to “overcome” the U.S. “from the inside” by working to “destroy their family structure.”

“Lenin was the Tsar of Russia,” Wildmon added — quite incorrectly — before complaining about incidents when conservatives seem ignorant and unintelligent, which Carson said are part of a secret Marxist plan of attack devised by none other than Saul Alinsky.

Carson and Wildmon agreed that the Marxist offensive is upon us. “What you just described is modern day America, that’s what’s going on,” Wildmon said. “We’re living it.”

Fischer: Gay Activists Are 'Jack-Booted Homofascist Thugs'

Last week, the Arizona legislature passed a bill that would allow businesses to legally discriminate against gay customers in the name of "religious liberty."

Predictably, Bryan Fischer has come out strongly in support of the law on the grounds that gay activists are "jack-booted homofascist thugs" who are trying to force Christian business owners to engage in sin.

"They are jack-booted homofascist thugs," Fischer said "who want to use the totalitarian and tyrannical power of the state to send men of faith to jail. That sounds far more like Nazi Germany than the United States of America":

Starnes: Government Will Attempt To Criminalize The Bible 'Within Our Lifetime'

In was on Bryan Fischer's radio show last week where we first heard the absurd right-wing theory that the FCC was planning on stationing agents in newsrooms all over the country in order to "monitor" what sort of stories they ran. The entire thing turned out to be total nonsense, but the Right threw such a collective fit that the FCC pulled the plug on the study.

So naturally Fischer invited serial fabricator Todd Starnes on to his program today to talk about the issue. During the discussion, Fischer asked Starnes if he agreed with his conspiracy theory that the FCC will eventually start shutting down anti-gay radio programs and Starnes conceded that that was a very real possibility, adding his own prediction that the government will actually attempt to outlaw the Bible.

Since the opposition to homosexuality is rooted in the Bible, Starnes said that he suspects that "we are going to see, within our lifetime, an attempt to outlaw or criminalize parts of the Bible or even perhaps pulling out parts of the Bible that have to deal with those issues":

Beck: 'We're Not A Bunch Of Crazies'

Despite his belief that America is just the "stink on the crap pile" and a nation that is doomed to collapse, Glenn Beck has been on one of his optimistic upswings in recent weeks, mainly because God has massive miracles in store for his network that will bring him success beyond his wildest imagination.

And that was the message he delivered once again on his radio broadcast today, telling his audience that there is something really important taking place right now that he cannot exactly put his finger on, but "it gives me great and profound hope" because his audience of Tea Party activists cannot be dismissed as a "bunch of crazies" any more.

"You're not dismissed any more," Beck told his listening audience. "We used to be a bunch of crazies; we're not a bunch of crazies. We're a very powerful force and only getting stronger":

Ex-Gay Pride Leaders: 'Homosexual Activists' Fund Fred Phelps, Dumb Dads On TV Turn Kids Gay

Last week, Ex-Gay Pride Month organizers Christopher Doyle and Chuck Peters of Voice of the Voiceless spoke to American Family Association talk show host Sandy Rios about how strong women and “stupid,” “buffoon” dads on television are turning kids gay.

As a result, boys begin idolizing women and female celebrities while seeing “this caricature of men on TV,” which somehow makes them gay.

Peters: I split off that side of myself, the masculine side, the boyhood side. I thought ‘I’m not going to be a man, I’m going to be like a woman.’ So I way-over-identified with my mother. That’s why I believe a lot of gay-identified men really worship these celebrities, these strong women, like Madonna or Cher or Lady Gaga because these women are strong women, like the mom that I grew up with, that are very opinionated, have a chip on their shoulder, wear the pants in the family, and these are the women that I wanted to be like or I wanted to identify with because I didn’t have a man in the house who wore the pants, who would teach me how to be a man.

Rios: That seems to be the theme, Chris, so often.

Doyle: You see any straight heterosexual male on TV is now the buffoon.

Rios: Don’t I know it? All the dads are stupid and all the women are supermoms. I’m the antifeminist, if you want to complain about that you’ve came to the right studio. I just can’t stand what they’ve done to manhood.

Doyle: It’s absolutely damaging for kids. In so many minority cultures now it’s still an epidemic problem that the father is not in the home. Then they turn on the TV, which is basically where they have to go because they don’t have two parents in the house and dad’s not there, then they see this caricature of men on TV.

Doyle also seems pretty sure that Westboro Baptist Church pastor Fred Phelps is “funded by homosexual activists” to make anti-gay groups look bad.

He told Rios that he can’t explain how else Phelps “gets all that money to do all of that.”

Actually, the church makes its money through its family law firm, Phelps-Chartered, and by winning or settling cases surrounding its demonstrations.

Peters also decried bills limiting the use of ex-gay therapy, which he said will lead to deaths: “If you want to kill somebody and force somebody into suicide, take away hope. And that’s what these pending bills and that’s what the bill in California is doing and the bill that was passed and signed by Gov. [Chris] Christie is doing, the blood of these minors who commit suicide because they can’t go to a licensed therapist will be on the hands of Gov. Christie and Gov. [Jerry] Brown who both signed these bills into law.”

Shoebat: America Embracing 'The Spirit Of Antichrist' By Ensuring Rights For Gays, Muslims

Walid Shoebat, one of the conservative media’s favorite anti-Muslim commentators, yesterday posted a six-part series arguing that Turkey will emerge during the End Times as an “Antichrist nation” and may soon invade Egypt.

According to Shoebat, Russia’s support for Syria’s brutal dictatorship — which Shoebat praises — and its plan to “eliminate the Sodomite movement including all mosques,” is proof that Russia will stand up against and fight Turkey and its Islamist allies such as the Muslim Brotherhood during the Last Days.

He adds that the US has been compromised due to its “tolerance to the homosexual agenda and to building mosques” and is now “advancing” the cause of “the spirit of antichrist,” with even American evangelicals joining “the ranks of the devil.”

Today, the Brotherhood is parking in Turkey after being overthrown in Egypt and the Turks will aid the Islamist movement in Egypt to rise against the secularists. The next few years will show this struggle intensify until Turkey invades Egypt. This does not pass without repercussions. Few focus closely to Daniel 11:44, that “news from the north” will trouble the King of the North (Turkey/antichrist).

Relative to current events, the alliance between Russia and secularist Egypt is strengthening, which is increasingly troubling to the Turks. The outcome of this battle between the King of the North (Antichrist/Turkey) and the troublesome news from north of it (Russia) will be a surprise—in verse 45, he (the antichrist) “shall come to his end, with no one to help him”. Russia will again defeat Turkey. History will repeat itself and it will be the Russo-Turkish Wars all over again. Other allies (Ezekiel 28:7-8) which the Bible says are the “most terrible of the nations” will also join in against Turkey (see Ezekiel 30:5, Lydia).

From a biblical perspective, Russia is against the spirit of antichrist while the U.S. is advancing its cause.

It is not new that such false teachers always take the side of the enemies of Christianity; supporting the rebels against Assad is the end of the Christians in Syria.

How is attacking Russia, Syria’s ally calling it “Gog and Magog” serves anyone’s interests but the liberals and the Islamists? What we see in the Middle East is not the end, but the beginning of an end. It is pre-mature to start making proclamations and judgments.

Putin also wants to eliminate the Sodomite movement including all mosques while the U.S. including many in the American church defend such policies of tolerance to the homosexual agenda and to building mosques.

Should Russia import evangelical pastors like New York’s pastor Timothy Keller who says “being gay doesn’t send you to hell”? Does Russia’s Orthodox Christianity have a Rob Bell, kissing up to the sodomites, calls sodomites “passionate disciples of Jesus just like I’m trying to be. So lets [sic] all get together and try to do something about the truly big problems in our world, that I believe would have us ban together and tackle together”?

Why then should my American evangelical brothers join the ranks of the devil? We must then defend Evangelical Christianity from being influenced by the workers of iniquity and work tirelessly to save Christians from death.

Such conservatism is misleading and Protestant nations will likely repeat history and support the Antichrist nation of Turkey in the future—as they do now—and as they did in 1571 during the Battle of Lepanto.

The absence of Muslim-Catholic wars from their awkward interpretations was simple to explain; such struggle was described as the suffering of a “whore” who drinks the blood of saints, while the Muslim was simply “doing God a service”, not realizing that Arabia’s Islam was the vampire who hadn’t had its fill of sanguine Christian blood. I was always astonished; how can killing Catholics serve Allah, the false God of Islam, and also serve the true God of the Bible?

To these Islam was not even on their radar. It mattered little prophetically when I explained how the Bible in Revelation 13:2 was speaking of the greatest threat to Christianity. It was Islam that became this threat (beastly nation) as predicted in Scripture that occupied the region that was prophesied by John: Lion (Babylon), Bear (Persia) and Leopard (Asia Minor).

Lively: Putin Will Restore Tsarism, Defeat 'Marxist' United States And 'Global Homosexual Agenda'

While Vladimir Putin’s government is hostile to evangelical Christians in Russia, U.S. Religious Right leaders are fawning over Putin in response to his crackdown on his country’s gay community. On Friday, American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer chatted with right-wing pastor Scott Lively about his anti-gay activism in Russia, and the two hailed Putin as a hero.

Lively said that Russia is rightfully returning to Tsarism: “They’re reaching back to the Tsarist model when the Russian Orthodox Church was very strong and they had Christian values in their society, and I think it’s a positive thing for the whole world.”

Putin also won accolades from Fischer, who said that “the leader of Russia now sounds more like somebody who supports and embraces Christianity than the President of the United States, which has always been a Christian country.”

“Our country is far more Marxist” than Russia, Lively insisted. “It’s like a role reversal and I think that if other countries in the world adopt the Russian policy, we can build a barrier against this global homosexual agenda and perhaps even start to roll it back here at home.”

Fischer: Attorneys General That Refuse To Defend Anti-Marriage Laws Must Resign From Office

On Friday's radio broadcast, Bryan Fischer declared that any state Attorney General that is unwilling to defend his or her state's anti-gay marriage laws or constitutional amendments ought to declare that they "believe in sodomy-based marriage" and resign from office.

Fischer wants any such office holder to declare "I think what people do when they have homosexual sex is perfectly normal, I think it's perfectly fine, I think it's perfectly healthy, I think we ought to celebrate that in our state" and then do the "honorable thing" and resign.

"You resign and say the honorable thing for me to do is to step down so that my office can be fulfilled by somebody who can fulfill the oath of office," Fischer urged. "I am violating the sacred oath I took before Almighty God to uphold and defend the laws of this state. I am in egregious dereliction of duty and it's not morally right for me to continue in office":

WND: Obama, Democrats Will Burn In Hell For Imposing Marxism On America

Former Romanian communist Ion Mihai Pacepa defected to the US in 1978, and is now a pundit and author for WorldNetDaily. Today, Pacepa tells WND in an interview that Obama has a “craze for Marx’s utopian creed” and that the Democratic Party is “stealthily infecting the United States” with “undercover Marxism.”

Pacepa warns that if the GOP doesn’t expose Obama’s supposed Marxism, then the U.S. will become a communist country and “end up looking like trailer camps hit by a hurricane” with “Marxist leaders roasting in Dante’s Inferno.”

WND: And this disinformation continues now in 2014 in America?

PACEPA: Indeed. For example, who will now dare mention socialism? That term has become a scarecrow as well, and so we now have “progressivism” and, of course, its adherents – the “progressives.” I hope you’ll help to open America’s eyes that progressivism and progressives are code words for socialism and socialists, whether or not those who use such benign terms to describe themselves are even aware of this.

WND: So how do we frame the debate in this war being waged on all media fronts, and in living rooms, social gatherings and even boardrooms?

PACEPA: In my view, America’s infection with undercover Marxism should be the most important political topic of our day. In every country that became Marxist, the transformation process began with undercover Marxism, disguised as various kinds of free lunches.

I walked in undercover Marxist shoes over many miles and for many years, and I am convinced that if the Democratic Party has its way, it will use undercover Marxism to transform the United States into a socialist country in all but name.

The last century has proven beyond doubt that, in the end, the only thing that results from Marxism is countries that end up looking like trailer camps hit by a hurricane and Marxist leaders roasting in Dante’s Inferno.

I also ask this question to America: What did you expect to happen by voting to bring Marxism to power in the United States? I also hope that President Obama will abandon his craze for Marx’s utopian creed, “to each according to his need.” The first black American president should have a place of honor in our country’s history, not disgrace.

Next November the voters will decide whether to preserve America as the undisputed leader of the world, or to transform it into a permanently debt-ridden socialist realm based on Marx’s utopian precepts. Unfortunately, our conservative movement has so far focused this critical electoral campaign almost exclusively on an anti-Obama strategy. I fear our conservative movement will dramatically lose the 2014 elections if it focuses them exclusively on bashing President Obama rather than on defending our country from the noxiousness of Marxism – that is, effectively exposing the entire “progressive” agenda” – which is stealthily infecting the United States.

Robertson: US Should Have Taken My Advice About Killing Hugo Chavez

Televangelist Pat Robertson said today that the political crisis in Venezuela would never have materialized if the U.S. had only taken his advice about assassinating late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez.

Back in 2005, the 700 Club host urged the U.S. to kill Chavez, although he later apologized: “Is it right to call for assassination? No, and I apologize for that statement.”

Today, however, he alleged that he was right all along about killing Chavez: “I warned on this program a couple of years ago and was pilloried across the nation for suggesting we ought to take out Chavez. My words have come true. Chavez died of cancer but nevertheless we should’ve hurried his demise a little bit along; it wouldn’t have been the problem we got now.”

Robertson then asked viewers to pray about the situation.

'Freedom Fighter' Paul Broun: Immigration Reform 'Disastrous For Anybody Who Is Freedom-Loving'

Georgia Republican congressman and Senate candidate Paul Broun has been trying to out-extreme his opponents on the issue of immigration reform, announcing in a debate this weekend that the only immigration law he wants is one “that makes English the official language of America.” In an interview with Tea Party Express earlier this month, Broun made the same policy recommendation, claiming that comprehensive immigration reform would be “disastrous for Republicans” and “disastrous for anybody who is freedom-loving.”

Later in the interview, Broun claimed that “both political parties today are domestic enemies to the Constitution” and that he is a “freedom-fighter” who is “fighting those people.”

I think if John Boehner were to press on with comprehensive immigration reform, it will be disastrous for Republicans, not only in this election, but for decades to come. And it would be disastrous for anybody who is freedom-loving and wants to reduce the size of government. I introduced the “No Amnesty” resolution, which says, “no amnesty for anyone with any immigration reform.” And we should not have amnesty. We should be a nation that is directed under the rule of law.

Until we secure the borders, nothing else matters. And then we have to start enforcing the laws that are on the books. There’s only one new law I would like to see passed. One, and only one. And that’s one to make English the official language of America.

We’ve got to go back to the limited government as our founding fathers meant it, and that means by golly we’ve got to go back to the Constitution. When I was sworn into the Marine Corps, when I was sworn into Congress, I swore to uphold the Constitution against enemies both foreign and domestic. Both political parties today are domestic enemies to the Constitution. I’m fighting those people. I’m a freedom fighter. I’m fighting for liberty and freedom.

Robison: 'All Manner Of Evil Is Going To Be Spewed Out On Our Nation' Due To Gay Rights

Televangelist Jim Robison yesterday wrote a post on “The Gay Challenge” in response to Michael Sam’s announcement that he is gay. Robison warned that soon “Congress and the courts will impose same sex [sic] marriage on the American people even though their numbers are small when compared with the total population,” warning that such marriages are “an assault not only on truth, natural acts, and marriage, but an attack on the very possibility that God gave His creation a reliable standard to follow.”

He included a message about Sam’s decision to come out of the closet from a pastor who “has ministered to those trapped by homosexuality,” which warned that greater acceptance of gays and lesbians “inevitably produces quarrels and wars.”

Robison concurred and told readers that “all manner of evil is going to be spewed out on our nation” while people “who really know and love God will become the most persecuted people on the planet.”

Redefining marriage is a far bigger issue than some may realize. It is in fact an assault not only on truth, natural acts, and marriage, but an attack on the very possibility that God gave His creation a reliable standard to follow. Before there were cities or governments, there was marriage. Marriage was there at the creation. In Genesis we read, “A man leaves his father and mother and cleaves to his wife and they become one flesh.” As long as there have been human beings, there has been marriage. It is the foundation for every other human institution.

It is highly likely both the Congress and the courts will impose same sex [sic] marriage on the American people even though their numbers are small when compared with the total population. The general public and the church will most likely be forced to accept the practice as if the people desiring the gay identity were born with unique attraction and they must not be held responsible for their choices or desires any more than a person would be for ethnicity or skin color.

My close friend Dudley Hall has ministered to those trapped by homosexuality and responded with the following:

It is true that we have overlooked serious behavioral issues in the NFL because we idolize the athlete. But even then, we did not celebrate their behavior. We tolerated it with hope for liberating change. My heart aches for Sam. In an effort to support his freedom of choice, we are confirming his false identity.

When we normalize all behavior under the agenda of freedom of choice, we are preparing for war (James 4:1-6). Unbridled desire inevitably produces quarrels and wars. Mankind will oppress others to gain an advantage. We will use others and prostitute every good thing we have been given. We will work for money, worship ourselves, boast in our achievements, and manipulate all governmental structures for our own advantage. The oppressed will rise up, and there will be war. It is the judgment on a society that begins to define itself by its desires.

To be honest with you as a reader, if we do not have a supernatural spiritual awakening within the church where Christians begin to witness in the power of unconditional love, all manner of evil is going to be spewed out on our nation. Those who really know and love God will become the most persecuted people on the planet. The stage is set for this.

Scott Lively's New Anti-Gay Coalition: Governments Should Suppress LGBT 'Propaganda'

Anti-gay activists Scott Lively and Peter LaBarbera held a press conference today to announce the formation of a new Coalition for Family Values to fight the “destructive” LGBT agenda around the world. They were joined by “ex-gay” activist Greg Quinlan and Diane Gramley, president of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania. Linda Harvey of Mission America sent a supportive statement.

And don’t worry about calling these guys anti-gay. The rationale behind their new coalition seems to be that too many other Religious Right leaders will only speak out against marriage equality but not against homosexuality itself for fear of being labeled a hater or bigot. That approach, said Lively, is “unprincipled.”

The coalition’s statement says:

“…the vast majority of the people of the world do not accept the notion that sexual deviance should be normalized. It is time that these voices are heard on the world stage before the so-called elites of the Western powers impose their inverted morality on everyone through the manipulation of international law, which they clearly intend to do.”

To explain why a new coalition was needed – after all, it’s not as if there aren’t already plenty of groups pushing anti-gay policies overseas -- Lively said:

“We believe that the pro-family movement is not being well represented at the moment. Because most of the people that are in the leadership positions are afraid to speak the plain truth because of the media….We’re not against gay marriage and gay adoption because they’re just bad public policy. We’re against them because homosexuality itself is harmful to the people who practice it and to society.

The organizing statement written by Lively and signed by his new coalition partners says,

“Let us pray for healing for those who choose the LGBT path, and (within reason) respect their right to be wrong in their private lives. But let us not allow the LGBT political movement to transform the world in its own distorted image.”

For Lively, respecting “within reason” people’s right to be “wrong” seems to be limited to society not persecuting gay people who have sex in private. He says he doesn’t believe people should go to jail for what they do in their own bedroom, as long as they aren’t trying to move society away from what he believes is a biblical approach to sexuality – what he calls the “one flesh paradigm.” He said, “And that if you’re going to be engaged in that kind of behavior, then stay in the privacy of your home and not try to transform the mainstream culture according to your sexual values.”

Another point of the press conference was to praise Russian anti-gay laws. Says the coalition statement, “we want to praise the Russian Federation for providing much-needed leadership in restoring family values in public policy, and to encourage the governments of the world to follow the excellent example that the Russian government has set in 2013 and 2014 by banning LGBT propaganda to children and limiting the adoption of children to natural families only.” Peter La Barbera cited a poll saying that 74 percent of Russians say homosexuality should not be accepted in society, adding, “Good for the Russians.”

Lively said his goal is not the criminalization of homosexuality. But, he said, the government has “an affirmative duty to protect the natural family and to discourage all sex outside of marriage.” He says he’d like to return to the days “when adultery was a criminal act.” Such laws, he says, would be lightly enforced, but would help discourage sex outside marriage. What really bothers Lively, he says, is that pro-LGBT ideology has “infiltrated” the government; there needs to be a “separation of LGBT and state” so that the government is not allowed to advocate for “the homosexual perspective.”

Pushed by conservative activist Cliff Kincaid about the ways the anti-gay “propaganda” law in Russia is being used to suppress free speech and freedom of the press, Lively said he didn’t favor that. But he said he was “torn.”

“There is a zero sum equation here – that you’re either going to have society that believes that sex belongs inside of marriage only, or that it’s really anything goes within the principle of mutual consent. Those two ideas are mutually contradictory. In Russia, the Russian policy is to favor the pro-family perspective and suppress the speech of those who are against it. In the United States, it’s the pro-gay perspective that’s favored and anything against that is being suppressed.”

When Kincaid challenged that claim, noting that Lively was holding a news conference and, unlike gay rights advocates in Russia, he wasn’t been arrested or beaten, Lively said, “I wish there was a good balance that could be struck.”

“I try to make all of my policies based on principle, and my principle is, the most important thing in dealing with this issue is that we need to affirm the biblical standard of one-flesh sexuality. All sex outside of marriage is harmful to society. Now, right now, the challenge to the Russians is how far are they going to let aggressive homosexual propagandists get a foothold in their society. And they’re looking at the United States, and they’re seeing what’s happening here.

When we started extending tolerance to these activists -- you know in the 1950s, Dale Jennings of the Mattachine Society said the goal of the gay movement was the right to be left alone – that’s a direct quote. And as soon as we extended tolerance, then they began demanding more, and more, and more. You give ‘em an inch and they take a mile.

If there were some balance we could have, in which people who want to live discretely in a gay subculture can articulate their views in context, in which it’s not going to be tearing down the fabric of society, then I’m all for that. But if the only choice is suppressing a harmful propaganda, and giving it free reign, I’m going to choose the suppression of the harmful propaganda. Because we’ve seen in our country the consequences of not doing that.

Lively complained about businesses being punished for refusing to provide services to same-sex couples. “This is what the homosexual activists do. They are the worst bullies in society. If you dare to stand up to them, even if all you say is that I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, they try to destroy you.”

Lively made a similar point about the anti-gay law in Uganda. He claimed to have encouraged parliamentarians there to focus on “prevention” and “treatment” of homosexuality rather than punishment, and said he believes the law is overly harsh. He even said he had turned down a Ugandan who wanted to join the new coalition. But, he said, he was asked, “If you could only choose between the Ugandan law minus the death penalty, or complete freedom for the homosexual agenda in Uganda, which one would you go with?” His answer: “And I said, well, I would have to with the restriction, because you have to put the children ahead of the adults. And that’s what Russia is doing…it’s the lesser of two evils.”

Both Lively and LaBarbera were contemptuous of the notion that same-sex couples with children could be considered a family. In response to a question about children with gay parents, Lively said he rejects the premise that they are a family.

“I think there’s a false premise in your question, that these are families. I don’t believe that they are families. I think when two people who define themselves by a type of sexual behavior put their own sexual interests ahead of the interests of children, that that is not a family.”

Lively said same-sex couples are “posing” as mothers or fathers.  LaBarbera denounced “the bizarre concept of subjecting innocent children to households that are intentionally motherless or intentionally fatherless.”

Gramley from the Pennsylvania AFA affiliate said that children exposed to “homosexual propaganda” in schools, books, video games, and entertainment are like “lab rats” or “guinea pigs.” Said Gramley, “We recognize the outcome of this war on the family will determine the very future of humanity itself.”

Linda Harvey’s written statement sounded a similar tone:

“To be a faithful Christian in many of today’s U.S. public schools means for many students that they walk into a daily atmosphere of sexual anarchy, institutional bigotry and widespread deceit….Our next generation in the U.S. is being deliberately corrupted through such wayward guidance from deviant adults. We applaud the steps Russia is taking to ensure this is not the path for their students, and we encourage more countries to make the same wise choice, to say ‘no’ to homosexual activism.”

Lively seems unwilling to entertain the idea that his years of travelling the world to denounce LGBT people as threats to children could be in any way responsible for violence against LGBT people. “We unequivocally condemn any violence against anyone, including homosexuals,” he said. LaBarbera chimed in to say neither Lively or other activists he works with have ever espoused violence or hatred. Really.

Lively said he only put out the word to get coalition members two days ago and that responses are flooding in from around the world. Among the recognizable Religious Right figures who signed up are Matt Barber, Tim Wildmon, Bryan Fischer, Gordon Klingenschmitt, Janet Porter, and Sally Kern. No haters there.
