Franklin Graham Drops Bank Over LGBT Rights Stance, Joins Bank That's Sponsoring A Pride Event

Upset that Wells Fargo is running an ad which includes the story of a lesbian couple learning sign language before adopting a child who is deaf, Franklin Graham announced last week that the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association will no longer do business with the bank.

Graham spoke with Craig James of the Family Research Council, which is cheering on Graham’s announcement, on yesterday’s edition of “Washington Watch,” where he explained that he will be switching to BB&T, another North Carolina-based bank.

Graham may not have done much research, as BB&T has received an 80 percent score in the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index and this year is the sponsor of the Miami Beach Gay Pride Parade, along with the chief sponsor of Miami Beach Gay Pride’s “Legacy Couples” program, which celebrates same-sex couples in “committed relationships of 10 years or longer.”

A bank spokesman said the company hopes to “support the individuals and organizations that broaden our perspectives and strengthen the diverse fabric of our communities. That’s why BB&T is proud to be a part of this day of pride and celebration of the 2015 Legacy Couples.”

In fact, BB&T hosted a same-sex couple’s wedding reception earlier this year “in a makeshift chapel at event sponsor BB&T Bank South Beach branch.”

Graham added that anti-LGBT Christians should also boycott Starbucks, Tiffany’s and Nike since they “promote the gay lifestyle.”

Ted Cruz Picks Tennessee Sharia-Hunter As State Campaign Chair

Last month, we noted that Sen. Ted Cruz had picked Lee Bright, a state senator with a record of stoking fears of a new civil war, to co-chair his presidential campaign in South Carolina. Cruz has now made a similarly revealing choice in Tennessee, according to the AP, picking Tea Party activist and former Williamson Country GOP chairman Kevin Kookogey to lead his campaign in that state.

Back in 2012, Tennessee Republican Gov. Bill Haslam faced a backlash within his own party. His offense? Picking a Muslim American woman who had previously built expertise in Sharia-compliant finance — helping Muslim business owners arrange for loans in ways that don’t run afoul of religious restrictions on paying or collecting interest — to a top economic position in the state.

Egged on by anti-Muslim activist Frank Gaffney, who warned that “ the financial jihadists will soon be targeting the Volunteer state for infiltration and influence operations,” a number of county GOP committees passed resolutions condemning Haslam for his hire. One of those resolutions was spearheaded by Kookogey, who told Talking Points Memo that Haslam had neglected to “consider that, perhaps, those bent on destroying Western Civilization might just be infiltrating our institutions.”

“It is not like this has never happened before,” he continued. “The Muslim Brotherhood is following the blueprint of the Communists, who infiltrated the highest levels of government and society in the 1950's. Shariah, however, is an even greater threat, because it has cloaked itself under the auspices of a religion, thus confusing the uninformed."

Kookogey also used his position as county GOP chairman to warn that Agenda 21 — a nonbinding UN sustainable development resolution signed by President George H.W. Bush — “ is, in fact, an insidious strategy of environmental totalitarianism”:

Of course, the choice of Kookogey as a top state official isn’t a huge surprise coming from Cruz, who himself has claimed that “Sharia law is an enormous problem” in American life and warned that Agenda 21 is a scheme to abolish golf courses.

Sandy Rios 'Grieved To The Bone' That Gay Pundit May Destroy The Conservative Movement

Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, spoke to American Family Association’s Sandy Rios on her talk show “Sandy Rios in the Morning” this week about the danger of growing support for gay rights within the conservative movement.

Rios began the segment by discussing her concern regarding Guy Benson, a conservative commentator for the Salem Media Group-owned who recently came out as gay in a footnote to his new book, End of Discussion, coauthored by Mary Katharine Ham. Rios is not the only AFA affiliate to speak out against Benson, as American Family Radio’s Bryan Fischer also issued a statement calling for Benson’s replacement. Rios played a clip in which Megyn Kelly of Fox News tells Guy Benson on her show, “You are in a safe place here.”

Rios, who hired Benson to be the producer of her previous radio program, responded to Benson’s announcement by sharing that “when he came out last week it was a great shock to me, and very sad, very sad.” For Rios, “it’s not just a matter of Guy coming out; it’s that they’re coming out endorsing gay marriage. That’s not the main part of their book but it’s, it’s a huge part of their book. They’re both mainstream conservative voices.” Rios warned that “even though Guy smiles and is very sweet, I fear for the repercussions of this.”

“Guy Benson’s professed homosexuality is not a mere footnote, Sandy,” LaBarbera added. “And that’s the temptation of the new, I guess I’d call it soulless, conservatism.” LaBarbera explained that identifying as a gay Christian “makes no more sense, Sandy, than someone being a so-called porn-using Christian, or substitute any other sexual sin, and that doesn’t make a positive identity.”

“And yet,” bemoaned LaBarbera, “look what Megyn Kelly says. She says ‘you’re so brave.’ Why is it brave? You can tell there’s an approving tone when you watch the interview. It’s just bizarre that we’ve come to this point that somebody professes homosexuality and a quote ‘gay’ identity, which puts a really sort of nice face on it, is brave and that’s a sign of being honest, when actually it’s merely publicly embracing a sin.”

Rios, seemingly personally offended by Kelly’s “safe place” remark, responded, “Where did that, I mean, what could have been unsafe? I mean, Guy worked with me for years, and he’s still, he may not be happy with me discussing this publicly, but he would not be surprised, and certainly when he was working with me he was in a safe place. My love for him has not changed, but I am grieved to the bone, that he is, that this is an issue in his life.”

Rios added that she felt compelled to speak because, from her perspective, Benson’s coming out will have “detrimental, terribly detrimental effects on what it means to be a Christian conservative because it muddies the lines. And it’s also, if Salem does not care about this, Salem the Christian communications company, and if Heritage, who is fighting gay marriage, doesn’t care that they’re premiering a book that, you know, the authors, Mary Kathrine Ham has her own big following, are supportive of gay marriage, the lines are just being erased.”

Rios, still reeling from her grief, said, “Surely he must know that if the Supreme Court comes out and legalizes gay marriage all over the country people will be breaking the law if they oppose it in any way. So, uh, the normally clear-thinking guy is not thinking clearly, and neither is Megyn.”

“Yeah. I agree with you,” LaBarbera responded. “He also came out for nondiscrimination laws in the BuzzFeed article and those laws have been the basis for the persecution of people who oppose homosexuality.”

Comparing Benson with the “small number of openly homosexual people” who are against marriage equality, LaBarbera said that by embracing LGBT equality, Benson has joined a “radical” and “revolutionary” movement that “is all about normalizing homosexuality.”

“He says he’s standing on the shoulders of gay activists,” LaBarbera said, “and when I saw that I was like, ‘Well, which ones?’ Are you standing on the shoulders of the 1970s gay activists who scream in politicians’ faces? What about the homosexuals who will harass people, harass the psychologists to have them supposedly normalize homosexuality in the APA, the American Psychiatric Association, the direct-action homosexuals who use far-left techniques? I know he said he’s not with the far left, but, I mean Sandy, this is a movement that is all about normalizing homosexuality. That was a radical, a revolutionary goal. So which homosexual activist is Guy Benson standing on? That’s kind of troubling to me.”

Rick Wiles: Obama Will Use Jade Helm 15 To Seize Power In 2016

On the Friday edition of “Trunews,” Religious Right broadcaster Rick Wiles interviewed “the mother of a toddler who prophesied that the ‘King is Coming!’” The mother, Chelsea Hansen, who said that she has been “following End Times for about four years,” told Wiles that she has had her own prophetic dreams, including one about how President Obama is “distracting” Americans from knowledge of God’s imminent judgment.

That’s all it took to convince Wiles, who said that Hansen’s dream is proof that Obama will soon “solve the Middle East crisis” to distract Americans.

Naturally, Wiles is very insistent that Obama is about to do something big. He told listeners that the military exercise Jade Helm 15 “is intended to get the American public accustom to seeing troops and tanks on the streets and helicopters landing in cities.”

“A military presence in our streets will be necessary next fall when the people realize the country is over,” Wiles said. “Obama has another year in power. He’s not going to seize power illegally this year. He’ll wait, he’ll save it until next year as his term comes to an end.”

Mike Lee: Supreme Court Marriage Decision Would Be 'Disruptive Of The Constitutional Order'

Sen. Mike Lee of Utah joined Phyllis Schlafly on her “Eagle Forum Live” radio program last month, where he took a call from a listener who asked if he agreed “that the original Constitution didn’t give the Supreme Court the power to rule anything about marriage” and that even Justice John Marshall, who established the principle of judicial review, “never said that the court could change the definition of marriage.”

“Where did the Supreme Court get the power to change the definition of marriage?” the caller asked. “And all the justices, all nine of them, even though they disagree, they all seem to think that they have the power to make that decision.”

“They don’t have that power, the Constitution didn’t give it to them,” Lee responded.

“There are a few who appear to take the position that something in the Constitution, something in the 14th Amendment in particular, gives them this power,” he said. “I strongly, strongly disagree with that viewpoint. I don’t think it does, and I think they are mistaken in that conclusion. And it think it’s wrong, I think it’s disruptive of the constitutional order for them to take a debatable matter and take it beyond debate, to take a state matter and take it to the federal government, not just to Congress, but to the Supreme Court, to a group of nine lawyers dressed in black robes who are not elected, but who are appointed for life. And I think that’s a big problem.”

In an interview with WorldNetDaily posted on its YouTube channel last week, Lee had a similar warning, saying that if a bill he has introduced allowing religious groups to discriminate against gay people doesn’t pass, a Supreme Court decision in favor of marriage equality could cause churches and religious organizations to shut down because of the government “retaliating against religious individuals or institutions.”

“I fear that what could happen is that the government could start discriminating against religious individuals and religious institutions that have a religious belief about the definition of marriage,” he said. “I don’t want that to happen. I hesitate to imagine what an America that would have that as part of its legal system would look like.”

Glenn Beck Prepares To Become The Modern Day Martin Luther King Of Fighting Gay Marriage

All last week, Glenn Beck promised that he would make a major announcement on Monday morning about some new campaign, saying "I believe my entire life has led to this point."

This morning, Beck made that announcement but, in typical Beck fashion, he first spent nearly an hour and a half delivering a long-winded and self-aggrandizing monologue full of references to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King and passages of Scripture as he railed about how America has gone completely off the rails, fuming that this nation only cares about things like Caitlyn Jenner, abortion rights, and transableism at a time when Christians are being slaughtered by ISIS in the Middle East.

"We are no longer a country that I recognize," he said. "We are no longer a people that I recognize. We are no longer a nation in which I care to call myself a member of. We've become a place where our citizenship is more of an indictment than an honor ... We are a country that has not only lost its way, but history will show that we have lost our ever-loving minds."

Eventually, Beck finally got around to announcing a new "Never Again Is Now" campaign to raise awareness of the crisis in the Middle East and a relief effort organized by his Mercury One charity to provide supplies and aid to those displaced and threatened by ISIS.

But there is more to the effort than simply providing relief to the victims of ISIS, as Beck is personally launching a speaking tour of churches in order to wake up Americans to the threat posed by things like gay marriage and to train them to carry out boycotts, civil disobedience, and nonviolent resistance ... and just like Martin Luther King, Beck will be kicking this effort off in Birmingham, Alabama.

"If you think there is trouble now, what happens when the Supreme Court decides to say that homosexual marriage is the law of the land?" Beck asked. "Will this administration then force our churches to comply? Will you be forced to violate your own faith? We must together wake the most powerful force on earth: the people of God."

"I'm going to begin," he continued, "where Martin Luther King began. On 8/28, I'm going to be in Birmingham, Alabama in a church just down the street from where Martin Luther King began his historic stand against Bull Connor ... We are going to begin to gather like-minded people and we are going to begin to train ourselves for non-violent resistance and civil disobedience. We're going to begin to train ourselves for boycotts and sit-ins. We're going to do all of the things that we thought were too radical or too hippy-like to do because we have to understand that we are now David and Goliath has all of the power. But we all know how that story ends."

Frankly, we are surprised that Beck has the time for this new effort since we assumed that he must still be hard at work building the $2 billion "Independence Park" libertarian utopia that he promised us over two years ago.

Peter LaBarbera: Caitlyn Jenner 'Promoting Evil Worldwide'

In an interview with VCY America’s “Crosstalk” program last week, Peter LaBarbera of Americans For Truth About Homosexuality attacked ESPN’s decision to give their Arthur Ashe Courage Award to Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, saying that rather than displaying bravery, Jenner is “promoting evil worldwide.”

“You know, it’s not bravery to embrace gender confusion and gender rebellion,” LaBarbera told host Jim Schneider. “And let’s, let’s be clear here Jim. First of all, I pity Bruce Jenner, and I need to pray for him, and you need to pray for him, and all the listeners should pray that he finds the Lord and he overcomes this confusion. But once he enters that realm of now saying, which he is, that he wants to be a role model to people all over the world, then he becomes a transgender activist and he’s promoting evil worldwide.”

Peter LaBarbera Encourages Callers Who Speculate The Government & Gay People Are Intentionally Spreading HIV

On VCY America’s “Crosstalk” program last week, Americans For Truth About Homosexuality’s Peter LaBarbera took questions from a number of listeners about the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to loosen the longstanding ban on gay men donating blood, including one caller who speculated that the government was using the new blood donation policy to “start spreading that HIV around” and another who speculated that gay men in San Francisco looked for young boys to infect with the disease.

“This blood donation thing, you know once they start spreading that HIV around, ah, they’re looking to get rid of people, and, ah, that’s one way to do it,” the first caller told LaBarbera, before moving on to criticize the Boy Scouts for considering lifting its ban on gay troop leaders.

LaBarbera seemed to agree, saying, “Yeah, absolutely. I think in this case this is something that should be approached very carefully. This seems like an incredibly radical shift to me, does it to you Jim? I mean from, since 1977, anybody who’s engaged in homosexual conduct, any man, since 1977, or a woman who’s had sex with such a man being banned to now just one year. That’s an incredible shift.”

A second caller, responding to the possible change in Boy Scouts of America’s policy towards gay members, told LaBarbera, “In San Francisco, the homosexuals that had AIDS were looking for boys to break in to give them the disease, purposefully, because that was like their throne, their crown, to do that. In Chicago, a thing there was, they had a homosexual parade where they were wanting for more people to become homosexuals, so they could, with AIDS, with AIDS, so they could get more money from the government.”

“Look how far we’ve fallen from God,” the caller continued. “Pray for the young people because they’re being indoctrinated every day at school, in the television, on the air through the songs, in the movies, to be bisexual, homosexual, sodomites, that’s what I call it, just what the Bible called it. So pray for our youth, please!”

Jim Schneider, the host of the program, responded to this prayer with an “Amen, Amen.”

LaBarbera then added his own scary story: “The homosexual movement does have a history of adult male sex with teenage boys. As I said, there was even a slang term, which I’m gonna be writing about on my website, where they call these boys ‘chickens’ and the older men were the ‘chicken hawks’ who sought sex with these young teenage boys, I’d say just 12 to 17, 18, something like that, Jim, and so there is this history in the homosexual male role.”

Ann Coulter: 'Get Used To Your Little Girls Being Raped' Due To Immigration

On Friday, Ann Coulter stopped by “The Eric Metaxas Show” to promote her new anti-immigrant book, “Adios, America! The Left's Plan to Turn Our Country into a Third World Hellhole.” Coulter blamed Mitt Romney’s 2012 election defeat on immigration, lamenting that there aren’t enough white voters in the U.S. and urging the former governor to make a third presidential bid to save America.

If the country doesn’t crack down on immigration, Coulter warned, the U.S. is going to transform into Uganda and will face gender segregation and mass sexual violence against women and children.

“Reagan got, I think it was 54 percent of the white vote, Romney got 59 percent of the white vote; the country in 1980 was about 90 percent white, now it’s about 62 percent white though still only 72 who can vote,” Coulter said. “If something drastic isn’t done right away, it is going to be George McGovern’s America, it is going to be La Raza’s America, it is going to be Uganda, basically. And get used to having segregated buses and subways, as they have in India and Mexico, because of the way women are treated and sexually abused there; get used to your little girls being raped and being pregnant; get used to not being able to go to your national parks because they are being burnt down, pot farms are being grown there, pesticides dumped all over.”

Coulter insisted that she was not using hyperbole, predicting that “if this book doesn’t work and change our immigration policy, that’s it, time to build the bunker and hire the cheap maids.”

Mike Huckabee: Obama Is 'Redistributing Poverty'

Iowa radio host Jan Mickelson is furious that Dubuque, Iowa, and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development have reached an agreement on the distribution of federally funded housing vouchers. In the future, the city will no longer give preferential treatment to people already living in the Dubuque area, which HUD said put people moving to the area “from predominantly African American areas” such as Chicago and Milwaukee “at a disadvantage.”

Mickelson spoke to Mike Huckabee, the Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas governor, about the decision on Friday. Huckabee shared Mickelson’s indignation, lambasting the “insane” decision.

“Nothing surprises me anymore about the Obama administration,” Huckabee said. “But what an interesting idea: the concept of not only redistributing income but now redistributing poverty so that his hometown is not going to experience it.”

Right-Wing Pundit: Obama Like A Nazi Doctor

Lord Christopher Monckton is out with yet another column in WorldNetDaily today insisting that climate change is a myth, this time disputing findings from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration that the earth is increasingly warming. Monckton calls such data “boloney” since “there is no global warming,” while dismissing Thomas Karl of the NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center as “Mr. Obama’s faithful poodle.”

“Tampering with scientific data ought to be a crime,” Monckton writes. “If it were, Mr. Obama’s poodle would go to doggy jail for a very long time.”

Monckton goes one step further, likening President Obama to Nazi doctors and Soviet officials who caused the deaths of millions: “Mr. Obama now stands in the dismal tradition of the Nazi eugenicists, who tried to tamper with science by declaring the Aryans and the Jews were a superior and an inferior race respectively, and of the Communist Lysenkoists, who killed 20 million Soviet citizens by starvation because instead of planting seed-corn in the autumn they tried to tamper with science by soaking the seeds in water and planting them out in the spring.”

Where is the missing heat coming from? Has the Obama administration inadvertently repealed the laws of thermodynamics?

There is nothing inadvertent about it. It is absolutely essential to the party line, leading up to the Paris pifflefest, to conceal the fact that there has been no global warming statistically distinguishable from zero since the U.N.’s disastrous climate panel first reported a quarter of a century ago.

Yet Mr. Obama, instead of rejoicing that there is no global warming, sullenly presides over an administration that cynically and conveniently rewrites all data that do not fit the party line.

Mr. Obama now stands in the dismal tradition of the Nazi eugenicists, who tried to tamper with science by declaring the Aryans and the Jews were a superior and an inferior race respectively, and of the Communist Lysenkoists, who killed 20 million Soviet citizens by starvation because instead of planting seed-corn in the autumn they tried to tamper with science by soaking the seeds in water and planting them out in the spring. Result: decades of failed harvests.

Tampering with scientific data ought to be a crime. If it were, Mr. Obama’s poodle would go to doggy jail for a very long time. His paper, at any rate, is barking.

Huckabee Stands By 'Commonsense' Transgender Locker Room Joke

Former Arkansas governor and GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee stood by a joke he made at the expense of transgender people, telling Iowa talk radio host Steve Deace on Friday that his off-color joke was a “commonsense answer to the insanity that’s going on out there.”

In a speech to the National Religious Broadcasters convention in February, Huckabee joked that when he was in high school he would have liked to have pretended to be transgender in order to shower with the girls in gym class. The comment gained national attention after the conservative website WorldNetDaily posted it on YouTube last month, shortly before Caitlyn Jenner’s introduction in Vanity Fair put transgender rights in the media spotlight.

When Deace asked Huckabee if the criticism of his locker room joke was an example of the media’s “misplaced priorities,” Huckabee responded, “It’s absolutely an example.”

“And by the way, Steve, I take nothing back from that speech,” he added. “I’m kind of glad it’s posted because people, if they watch the whole clip, what they’re going to see is that I’m giving a commonsense answer to the insanity that’s going on out there. Because I hear people, everybody wants to be politically correct, everybody wants to be loved by the media and loved by the left and loved by the elitists. But, you know, I know I’m not going to be, so let’s just get it over with. I’d rather be a commonsense candidate for people who did take their brains to work today.”

Paranoia-Rama: Gays In Space, Equal Marriage Refugees, And Terrorists In The State Department

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

This week, we learn that President Obama and Hillary Clinton are in cahoots with radical Islam, Caitlyn Jenner’s gender transition is a hoax, Ferguson has unleashed a wave of criminals, and gays continue to destroy the nation.

Obama’s Muslim Plot

Conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly explained in an interview with WorldNetDaily this week that President Obama is planning for the U.S. to take in Muslim refugees from war-torn nations such a Syria as part of his plan to wage “war on America,” knowing full well that Syrian refugees seek to “take over the world and establish their caliphate.”

“I don’t think he should let any Muslims in this country,” Schlafly said. “There is no reason why they should come in.” By permitting Muslim refugees to enter the U.S., Schlafly argued, “Obama is trying to absolutely change America by bringing in people who have no sympathy with what Americans believe.”

On her Eagle Forum blog, Schlafly also praised Ann Coulter’s new anti-immigrant screed “Adios America,” thanking Coulter for “alerting Americas to how Obama and the Democrats are destroying the land we love” by “diluting our population” with individuals “who commit all sorts of unspeakable crimes, in particular crimes against very young women and girls.”

Michael Savage joined in on the conspiracy theory, calling Obama a “con man shyster” who is attempting to destroy America by “injecting, like a virus, Muslims from Syria into all-white communities in America.” Obama, according to Savage, has also taken “infected children from Honduras and put them in every school district he could.”

Caitlyn Jenner

Plenty of right-wing activists are upset about Caitlyn Jenner’s transition. But some have looked beyond the headlines to reveal the true conspiracy that’s afoot.

Alex Jones, host of “InfoWars”, hypothesized that Jenner’s announcement was actually just a plot to distract Americans from Obama’s mischievous, scheming ways. Jones declared that he does not “like being force-fed constantly this weird, one agenda. The obsession, it’s got to be from like five, six years, because I cover media, with the trannies and transvestites.”

“What’s behind the agenda?” Jones asked, revealing that the true agenda of the media is to not only distract us from Obama’s civil war but to “make the coolest thing to be” a “tranny or a transvestite” and glorify a “creepy old guy.”

Jones is not alone in his suspicions, as Cliff Kincaid of the conservative group Accuracy In Media wondered in Barbwire if Jenner’s transition was just “a hoax” to promote her upcoming TV show.  Kincaid argued that the greatest threat is to children, criticizing Jenner’s supporters for sending an “extremely damaging” message. Kincaid made sure to warn us that “the nation may not survive, as it becomes a laughingstock before self-destructing or becoming easy pickings for a determined foreign adversary.”

While it may seem like Jenner is simply showing the world her authentic self, Kincaid urged us to question, “Where is the evidence that this is anything but a hoax?”

Hillary Clinton And Her Radical Muslim Cronies

The right loves to hate Hillary Clinton, and the latest conspiracy theories paint Clinton as a supporter and friend of “murderous Islamic thugs.” Rick Wiles, host of “Trunews,” spoke to Christopher Farrell of Judicial Watch Tuesday about his group’s claim that the U.S. compound in Benghazi was “arming Al Qaeda” and coordinating arms shipments to Islamic terrorists in Syria. While this connection may force some to then question why Islamic terrorists attacked the Benghazi compound in 2012, this question did not concern Wiles and Farrell.

Wiles compared the end of Gary Hart’s presidential campaign due to a photograph surfacing “of him with a pretty blonde sitting on his lap” to the apparent “murderous Islamic thugs sitting on the lap of Hillary Clinton.”

While a Republican-led investigation by the House Select Committee on Intelligence found Judicial Watch’s allegations about arm ships to Syria to be as credible as Hillary playing Santa with Islamic terrorists, Farrell and Wiles are not the only ones to remain unconvinced.  David Horowitz, a far-right conservative activist, alleged in an interview with Newsmax TV on Tuesday that Hillary Clinton’s aide, Huma Abedin, leaked information to the militants who killed four American diplomats in Benghazi. Clinton “got four people killed in Benghazi,” Horowitz argued. “She, you know, disclosed her private emails to Huma Abedin, a Muslim Brotherhood operative that showed where Ambassador Stephens was all the time, making him a perfect target.”

‘The Ferguson Effect”

Manhattan Institute fellow Heather Mac Donald penned an op-ed for The Wall Street Journal last Friday titled “The New Nationwide Crime Wave” and the effect has been a week of media outlets sounding the alarm. Apparently, the civil unrest that began after the killing of Michael Brown has flooded the country, inspiring widespread crime.

What this theory lacks in nuance it makes up for in cherry-picked statistics that create a misleading image of increased violence and death. Switching between comparing shootings, violent felonies, and gun-related homicides, Mac Donald argued that the U.S. is “in the grips of a hysteria against cops” and that “cops have gotten the message that they should back off policing,” causing the flood gates to open and crime to wash over the nation.

This tsunami of crime, claimed Mac Donald, is the fault of the “mainstream media, the university presidents talking about assaults on blacks and of course the president and former attorney general.”

Anti-Gay Conspiracy Of The Week

This week in anti-gay conspiracies, gay men are exporting sodomy “to the entire universe” and the prospect of gay marriage will destroy America and cause millions to flee and/or demand secession.

Mike Heath, former head of the Maine Family Policy Council and current blogger on BarbWire, warned that the “[gay] virus is spreading rapidly. It won’t be enough to pervert the whole world with this evil anti-family worldview. Since the developed governments of the world aspire to colonizing planets we have to prepare for the export of sodomy to other worlds—to the entire universe!” Referencing the Apostle Paul, Heath pointed out that “you can tell when a nation has become a walking corpse when it has endorsed perverted sex.”

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, in an interview with CNS News, had a similarly dire warning, claiming that a Supreme Court ruling in favor of marriage equality would “literally cause the destruction of our country.” The court is “toying with something that’s like dynamite and will destroy our country,” he said.

If, however, by some stroke of luck America does not blow up following a ruling in favor of marriage equality, WorldNetDaily founder and editor Joseph Farah promises that it would be met by secession and mass emigration. Farah wrote that “we need a Promised Land. We need and Exodus strategy.” He asked if there are “any governors or legislatures out there among the 50 states willing to secede to offer a refuge for the God-fearing?” If governors cannot promise Farah this, he promised us there would be a “pilgrimage by millions of Americans” fleeing marriage equality.

CNS News posted an audio clip of part of the interview:

Tom DeLay: 'All Hell Is Going To Break Loose' If SCOTUS Backs Marriage Equality

Tom DeLay, the former Republican House majority leader, is still waiting for a massive revolt if the Supreme Court strikes down same-sex marriage bans, telling Steve Malzberg of Newsmax yesterday that “all hell is going to break loose” if the court makes such a decision.

DeLay said that anyone who “understands the Constitution” knows that the legislative and executive branches do not need to enforce a Supreme Court ruling, “and not only that, if the states would just invoke the 10th Amendment and assert their sovereignty, they could defy a ruling by the Supreme Court.”

“If this Supreme Court rules against marriage, all hell is going to break loose,” DeLay said, citing a pledge signed by politicians and activists, including Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, who have vow to defy such a ruling by the court. “We’re going to stand for marriage even if it takes civil disobedience.”

Michael Savage Blames LGBT Rights On Seat Belt Laws

Yesterday on “The Savage Nation,” Michael Savage continued his unhinged rant about Caitlyn Jenner, repeatedly referring to Jenner’s gender transition as a sign of America’s downfall.

At one point, a listener called in to share with Savage his theory that seat belt laws and restrictions on public smoking are meant to condition people for greater limits on their freedoms, Savage agreed, linking those laws to recent strides of the LGBT community.

“How did the gays and lesbians get us in such a lock-grip where we accept to whatever they do to us now as just another incremental destruction of our civilization? It started with the seat belt,” Savage said. “I grew up in a time where there were no seat belts, then there were seat belts but they were sort of optional because you had them around your lap and the cops couldn’t see if they were on you, then the government figured out a shoulder strap where the cops could see that they were on you. So everyone now automatically puts a seat belt on; automatically now everybody checks themselves no matter what the pervert says to them, no matter what the sick sisters in the colleges do to their children, they say, ‘I’m not going to say anything because I have to wear the seat belt around my mouth.’”

Ted Cruz Praises Radical Gun Group's Extremism, Credits It With Senate Win

A couple of weeks ago, we reported that Sen. Ted Cruz had agreed to participate in a “tele-town hall meeting” with activists from Gun Owners of America, an extremist gun group led by a far-right activist with a history of ties to militia groups and white supremacists.

GOA has posted audio of the call on YouTube, and it was quite the love-fest. Cruz thanked the “fighters” and “patriots” at GOA for endorsing him when he ran for Senate in 2012, and said that the group “played a critical part in helping get me elected.” Media Matters captured the comment:

Cruz specifically praised GOA’s extremism, saying, "I agree with Ronald Reagan who said we must paint in bold colors and not pale pastels, that's why I'm running and that's one of the things I love about GOA is GOA has never been accused of painting in pale pastels."

GOA definitely does not paint “in pale pastels.” For instance, the group’s executive director, Larry Pratt, is fond of saying that the Second Amendment exists for the purpose of putting the fear of assassination into politicians who disagree with him on gun issues. Just the latest example of this was in April, when Pratt declared, “The Second Amendment was designed for people just like the president and his administration” and “Democrats who want to take our rights.”

In March, he said he hoped President Obama would learn from the example of Charles I, who was executed for treason:

Pratt has even repeatedly said that he hopes Cruz’s colleagues in Congress maintain a “healthy fear” of assassination:

The love between GOA and Cruz is mutual. Pratt frequently sings the praises of the junior senator from Texas, saying that Cruz “ has not disappointed us and I’m certain that he’s not going to disappoint us,” and rejoicing that “everybody understands that Ted Cruz runs the United States House.” The New York Times has described Cruz as Pratt’s “key ally in the Senate.”

Ann Coulter Suggests Denying Citizenship To Blind People & People In Wheelchairs

Ann Coulter, who is on a media tour promoting her new anti-immigrant book “Adios America,” called in to Simon Conway’s talk radio show in Iowa yesterday, where the two got to discussing citizenship requirements and naturalization ceremonies.

Coulter told Conway that she was appalled that there is an exception to the English-language requirement for naturalized citizens for certain older people who have been legal residents for decades, who she implied don’t “love this country.” She also took exception to accommodations for citizenship applicants with disabilities.

“The INS has waived the English-language requirements for many immigrants, and it’s not just — that obviously goes to the heart of it, are you switching allegiance, do you love this country? — but beyond that, how about the wheelchair-only section? How about the section for the blind? Look, wish these people well, but we’re not running an international charity here,” she said.

Beck: We Have 10,000 Pastors Who Are Willing To Die Resisting Anti-Christian Persecution In America

Next week, Religious Right activist Jim Garlow will be hosting a four day conference at his California megachurch called the "Future Conference: What You Thought Was Coming ... Is Here Now." That sort of a dire warning perfectly matches up with what Glenn Beck has been saying for the last several months, so naturally Beck invited Garlow on to his radio program yesterday to promote the event.

Garlow's conference is coming at the perfect time, Beck said, because society is about to collapse and America needs passionate pastors who are willing to give up their lives if necessary in the fight against the coming persecution of Christians. Fortunately, the Black Robe Regiment that he and David Barton established a few years back has managed to cobble together at least 10,000 pastors who are willing to do just that.

"The number in the Black Robe Regiment is about 70,000 now," Beck said. "The number that I think will walk through a wall of fire, you know, and possible death, is anywhere between 17,000 and 10,000. That is an extraordinary number of people that are willing to lay it all down on the table and willing to go to jail or go to death because they serve God and not man."

Garlow was in complete agreement, saying that the necessity of being willing to die is "honestly where we are."

"We've come to that moment," he said. "People like you and me and, thank God, many others are digging in very deeply and laying the benchmark of where we're going to stand on these issues."

"You're going to see these 10,000 to 20,000 pastors begin to stand up," Beck promised, "and say 'it doesn't matter if I lose my church, it doesn't matter if I lose my building, it doesn't matter if I lose my life, I will not sit down!'"

Sandy Rios: Duggar And Hastert Are Victims Of 'Systematic Targeting' Of Conservatives

On her radio program yesterday, Sandy Rios of the American Family Association said that Josh Duggar and Dennis Hastert, who have both been accused of sexually abusing minors, are the victims of a conspiracy against conservatives.

“What he did was wrong but I think maybe even the verbiage in describing it doesn’t describe the actual thing that happened,” she said of Josh Duggar. “It does seem very much to me that they are again the subject of targeting in order to completely destroy the family, it’s just an amazing thing.”

She added: “Something should go off in someone’s head about the way in which conservatives, social conservatives, are being systematically targeted. It’s going to happen and it’s been happening for a very long time.”

Rios also said that Duggar’s record was “leaked illegally,” when in fact his records were legally obtained.

“This is the kind of thing that is going to be happening to conservatives, just think of the Denny Hastert situation,” she said, citing the Duggar and Hastert abuse scandals as reasons that conservatives, whom she suggested are the targets of government surveillance, should oppose measures like the PATRIOT Act and the USA Freedom Act.

Kevin Swanson On Caitlyn Jenner: 'This Is The Bondage Of Satan, This Is A Pagan Culture'

Kevin Swanson, an anti-gay pastor and host of Generations Radio, is angry at his conservative brothers and sisters for “sporting this cover of Bruce Jenner” on conservative news sites, a reference to Caitlyn Jenner’s recent Vanity Fair cover. Swanson described to his listeners how “Bruce Jenner in drag is showing up on Vanity Fair, front cover, and I’m sure there are grocery stores all over America sporting Bruce in drag. And let’s just say it, Bruce Jenner looking like a prostitute on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine.”

“It’s sickening, sickening,” lamented Swanson, “to be on a website checking the news, your favorite conservative website,” and they “seem to be supporting him by putting his shameful, shameful picture on the front page of their news magazines online. And friends, I’m telling ya, this is shameful. ”

“I am not using the new first name,” Swanson declared. “He’s got a new first name where he’s trying to sport himself as a female. But, of course, this itself is an abomination.” What Swanson recommends to “those who are in a workplace working with those who are trying to transgender is to refer to them by their last name. Do not refer to them by their female name. Don’t play the game.” Swanson warned his listeners that this “is going to subject you to some persecution.” However, Christians have apparently “been persecuted for a very long time, so, for 2,000 years,” and this is just part of preaching God’s word.

Swanson also had advice for how to teach your children about gender identity: “Just say well, now, if your child is standing there next to you, ‘There is Bruce Jenner in drag. That’s a man, in drag.’ Now, I hate to have to bring that up to a seven-year-old, and for that reason I would encourage Christians out there to own grocery stores and do not sport magazines like Vanity Fair, this soft porn stuff, in your grocery stores.” Swanson also “would encourage you to not take your kids into the grocery store if they're sporting pictures of men in drag dressed as prostitutes on the front cover of Vanity Fair magazine right there at the checkout counter. ”

Swanson remarked that “Jenner has set a new Twitter record, at 1 million followers in just the last week or so, so Americans very excited about the latest abomination.” He continued by arguing that “a 64-year-old burned out athlete dressed up like a whore on the front page of Vanity Fair magazine is a rather shameful, embarrassing thing, and seems to me that from the most rational, sane perspective here we’re looking at chaos. We’re looking at God giving them up to a depraved mind here.”

Swanson described how Jenner’s transition “is the corruption of a cadaver, this is the bondage of Satan, this is a pagan culture.” Caitlyn, as Swanson refused to call her, is “dressing up a cadaver. He’s putting lipstick on a cadaver.”

In case you were wondering why Jenner is doing this, Swanson explained that this is due to “the spiritual death that is reflected in the soul of a man who is not regenerated by the spirit of God. And it eventually, all that inside cadaverness, expresses itself externally. And that’s what we’re seeing friends. That’s what we’re seeing in the destruction of sexuality, this sexual nihilism, of the modern world, of this modern, homosexual and transgender movement.”

Swanson’s guest, Adam McManus, elaborated that “when you reject God and you reject everything he’s about…the only thing you are left with are evil and death.” Swanson offered a solution to evil and death, calling on Christians to “take the gospel to this world, remind them they’re dead. Remind them they’re putting lipstick on a cadaver, then bring them to Jesus.” He urged that “we ought to treat our children, or train our children, as the missionaries did when they took their kids to the pagan lands in the 19th century.” There “they homeschooled their kids and they would put the big fences around the compounds in order that their kids would not have regular contact with some of the more edgy elements of pagan culture, so to speak.” According to Swanson, the problem is “we don’t consider ourselves missionaries to a pagan land anymore.” We have to join together to “bring the gospel to these people and teach them to observe whatsoever Jesus has commanded.”
