Fighting the Right

Pro-Akin Bus Tour to Feature Advocate of Violent Insurrection

The Family Research Council is organizing another Religious Right bus tour to bolster Todd Akin’s campaign for Missouri against Sen. Claire McCaskill. The “Repeal and Replace McCaskill Tour” will feature prominent conservative figures like Mike Huckabee, Tony Perkins and Phyllis Schlafly and lesser-known activists like Stephen Broden.

The Faith, Family, Freedom Fund, a super PAC associated with Family Research Council Action, is bringing a statewide bus tour through Missouri, October 28th - November 2nd, with one clear message: Senator Claire McCaskill’s policies are harmful to Missouri families .

Come help us cheer on the Repeal & Replace McCaskill tour as the bus stops near you! We must fight to bring the truth to the people of Missouri!

The Fund is joined in this effort by other prominent leaders and groups such as Phyllis Schlafly, Governor Mike Huckabee, Ken Blackwell, Tony Perkins, Pastor Stephen Broden, The Honorable Marilyn Musgrave, Susan B. Anthony List, Eagle Forum PAC and several more.

Broden is a failed Republican candidate for Congress who garnered national attention when he floated violent insurrection against the Obama administration.

While Akin seeks to distance himself from his past support for militia groups and radical anti-abortion rights groups and their leaders, the inclusion of Broden on the bus tour only highlights Akin’s close relationship with the most extreme elements of the far-right.

The GOP Pays the Big Price for Bashing Latinos

Losing the Latino vote "spells doom for us." - Mitt Romney, April 15, 2012

"Should I win a second term, a big reason I will win a second term is because the Republican nominee and the Republican Party have so alienated the fastest-growing demographic group in the country, the Latino community." - President Obama, October 26, 201 2

At last, bipartisan agreement! You don't need a degree in political science to know this: demonizing and alienating the fastest-growing group in the country is no way to build long-term political success. Pair that with the fact that demonizing any group of Americans is un-American and just plain wrong. But in recent years, Republicans, and especially party standard-bearer Mitt Romney, just haven't been able to help themselves. In an effort to win over a shrinking and increasingly extreme base, Romney and team have sold their souls to get the Republican presidential nomination. And they went so far to do it that even their famous etch-a-sketch won't be able to erase their positions.

As Mitt Romney knows, the slipping support of the GOP among Latinos is no mystery. We've seen this movie before, in 1994, when Republican California Gov. Pete Wilson pushed anti-immigrant smears to promote California's anti-immigrant Prop 187 which in turn buoyed his own tough re-election campaign. It worked in the short term - both the ballot measure and Gov. Wilson won handily - but what a long term price to pay as California became solidly blue for the foreseeable future.

We're now seeing what happened in California at a national scale. Harsh anti-immigrant rhetoric helped Romney win the Republican primary. But in the general election, it may well be his downfall.

In case you tuned out Romney's appeals to the anti-immigrant Right during the primaries, here's a quick recap. He ran ads specifically criticizing Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina Supreme Court justice. He says he'd veto the DREAM Act , a rare immigration provision with overwhelming bipartisan support. He took on anti-immigrant leader Kris Kobach, architect of the draconian anti-immigrant measures in Arizona and Alabama as an adviser , then said his immigration plan was to force undocumented immigrants to"self-deport." He even endorsed Iowa Rep. Steve King, who suggested building an electric fence at the Mexican border, comparing immigrants to "livestock" and "dogs." Romney's new attempts to appeal to Latino voters are clearly empty - he's already promised the Right that he will use their anti-immigrant rhetoric whenever it's convenient and shut down any reasonable attempts at immigration reform.

If President Obama wins reelection, however, we have a real chance for real immigration reform. He told the Des Moines Register last week that if reelected he will work to achieve immigration reform next year. Beyond incremental steps like his institution of part of the DREAM Act by executive order, real comprehensive immigration reform would finally ease the uncertainty of millions of immigrants and the businesses that hire them. It's something that George W. Bush and John McCain wanted before it was thwarted by extremists in their own party. It's something that Mitt Romney clearly won't even try.

If President Obama wins, and especially when he wins with the help of Latino voters turned off by the GOP's anti-immigrant politics, he will have a strong mandate to create clear and lasting immigration reform. And Republicans will have to think twice before hitching their futures on the politics of demonization and exclusion. Whereas George W. Bush won 44 percent of the Latino vote in 2004 and John McCain 31 percent in 2008, Mitt Romney is polling at just 21 percent among Latinos. That's no coincidence.

My group, People For the American Way, has been working to make sure that the GOP's anti-Latino policies and rhetoric are front and center during the presidential election. We're running a comprehensive campaign aimed at the large Latino populations in Nevada and Colorado and the rapidly growing Latino populations in Iowa, Wisconsin, Virginia, and North Carolina. In each of those states, we're strategically targeting Latino voters with TV and radio ads, direct mail, internet ads and phone banking to make sure they hear the GOP's message about their community. In Colorado, we're going up against Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS , which knows just as well as Romney that the loss of Latino voters "spells doom" for Republicans. In all of these states, higher turnout among Latinos motivated by Mitt Romney's attacks could swing critical electoral votes.

This is a battle where the right thing to do and the politically smart thing to do are one and the same. Republicans have embraced racially-charged attacks against Latinos, pushing English-only laws, attempting to legalize racial profiling by immigration enforcement, dehumanizing immigrants, and even attacking the first Latina Supreme Court justice for talking about her heritage. They deserve to lose the votes of Latinos and others for it. This presidential election is a choice between right-wing scare tactics-- the last resort of those fighting to return to an imaginary America of the past-- and policies that embrace and celebrate our growing Latino population as an integral part of what is the real America.

Beck: 'When the Navy Seals Called the President, He Let Them Die'

As Hurricane Sandy was bearing down on the East Coast last night, Glenn Beck covered the story by interviewing a representative of the NRA so he could tell viewers that government officials are not allowed to confiscate their guns during a state of emergency ... and then talking about Libya.

After mocking New Yorkers who, instead of stockpiling food, watch "The Daily Show" and just expect the government to rescue them, Beck found a way to tie to incoming storm to what he believes is the Obama administration's cover-up of the attack in Benghazi, laying out his theory about what really happened and declaring that "when the President called the Navy Seals, they killed Osama bin Laden.  When the Navy Seals called the President, he let them die":

The Right to Vote Under Attack, 2012 Update

Here we detail, as of October 6, 2012, except where otherwise noted, the latest efforts across the country to suppress the vote, as well as some encouraging successes in expanding the franchise.

Truth In Action: America is Turning into Nazi Germany

Truth in Action Ministries regularly produces slick documentary-like videos filled with Religious Right leaders warning that activist judges are destroying the country, gay rights is turning America into a "lawless" nation, and how the United States is on the road to becoming just like Nazi Germany.

In fact, warning that America is turning into Nazi Germany seems to be Truth in Action's favorite scare tactic, which explains the organization's newest video, "Tyranny: The High Cost of Forgetting God," which "looks at Christians who stood against Hitler's tyrannical rule, and modern day Christian 'heroes' fighting for righteousness in America today."  In the video, Tony Perkins, Richard Land, and Wendy Wright explain that things like banning prayer in schools, legalizing abortion, and kicking God out of the public square all signal that the United States is following the same path that led to the Holocaust:

Extremist Steve King is Congress's King of Nepotism

A new report today reveals that approximately one of every ten dollars spent by Iowa congressman Steve King’s re-election campaign goes to him and his family members, who have together collected close to half a million dollars out of his $5.5 million campaign war chest. The review of his campaign expenditures, conducted by CREDO Action, found that King, along with his wife, son and daughter-in-law, have been paid handsomely by his campaign. This lucrative nepotism is nothing new: Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington points out that King's family members have received tens of thousands of dollars during the last two campaign cycles. And when King isn’t using campaign money to boost himself and family members, he is using taxpayer dollars to help his own business.

Such nepotism isn’t exactly surprising coming from King, who often appears to be more concerned with making headlines with shocking statements than actually proposing meaningful legislation.

Just this year, King has accused President Obama of breaking his oath of office and destroying the Constitution while claiming that a Romney election would be a victory for God; lamented that states cannot ban contraceptives and doubted that rape can lead to pregnancy; defended dogfighting, compared same-sex marriage to desecrating the Eucharist; and sat on a panel with White Nationalists Peter Brimelow and John Derbyshire, who was subsequently fired by the National Review for his racist writings.

As noted in People For the American Way’s report Meet The Leadership , King has made stunning assertions about immigrants, progressives and gays and lesbians.

King claims that his first priority in the 112th Congress will be to abolish birthright citizenship, a right plainly established in the 14th Amendment of the Constitution. He said that his legislation will attempt to end what he calls the “anchor baby industry” and that if his bill is ruled unconstitutional he will move to amend the Constitution to repeal birthright citizenship.

King, who has appeared with violent vigilante groups, defended his proposal to have electrified wire on border fences by saying on the House floor, “We do this with livestock all the time.” He erroneously claimed that illegal immigrants kill 25 Americans each day , and referred to all immigrants as criminals and disease-carriers. King compared illegal immigration to a “slow motion Holocaust” and a “slow-motion terrorist attack on the United States.” Opposed to a pathway for citizenship for illegal immigrants working and residing in the country, hesaid that he would only support comprehensive reform if “every time we give amnesty for an illegal alien, we deport a liberal.” He defended profiling by asserting that police officers should be able to distinguish illegal immigrants from citizens “from what kind of clothes people wear – my suit in my case – what kind of shoes people wear, what kind of accident [sic] they have, um, the, the type of grooming they might have.”

After the deadly earthquake in Haiti, King resisted plans to give Haitian refugees temporary protection status, instead suggesting that deporting refugees already in the U.S. would help Haiti since the country is in “great need of relief workers.” King also fought legislation that would give protective status to translators from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and provide legal status to service members who don’t have citizenship and their families.

In 2005, King successfully marshaled opposition to naming an Oakland post office after former Oakland city councilwoman and activist Maudelle Shirek because he believed that Shirek was “un-American.” After Democratic Congresswoman Barbara Lee accused him of McCarthyism, he said, “If Barbara Lee would read the history of Joe McCarthy she would realize that he was a hero for America.”

On the House floor, King blasted the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional Hispanic Caucus as “separatist groups,” and suggested that a “very, very urban senator, Barack Obama” provided “slavery reparations” through the USDA Pigford II settlement with black farmers.

During the presidential election, King maintained if Obama won that Al-Qaeda “would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror.”

King said that it was “bizarre” for Obama to say his middle name “Hussein” during the inauguration, and asserted that the President “has a default mechanism in him that breaks down the side of race - on the side that favors the black person.” He also dubbed the President a “Marxist” who “doesn’t have an American experience” and is in “violation of his oath of office.” When asked at a rally in support of Arizona’s draconian SB 1070 immigration law if Obama was “bringing small quantities of Muslims into this country,” King replied that he “wouldn’t be surprised that that is the real factual basis.”

Just days before Obama’s victory at the polls, he warned Americans, “When you take a lurch to the left you end up in a totalitarian dictatorship. There is no freedom to the left. It’s always to our side of the aisle.” Earlier this year, he said that Democrats were similar to “Pontius Pilate” and would have supported the Pharaohs of Egypt over the enslaved Israelites in the Bible. On Glenn Beck’s show, King declared that Democrats were trying to “take away the liberty that we have right from God” by having members vote on the health care reform bill on a Sunday.

A fierce opponent of LGBT equality, King strongly opposes the Uniting American Families Act, which allows U.S. citizens and legal residents to petition for their permanent partners (including same-sex partners) to obtain U.S. residency or citizenship. He told the Family Research Council that gay Americans should stay in the closet if they wanted to avoid discrimination, and equated gay rights with rights for “unicorns and leprechauns.” After the Iowa Supreme Court said that the state’s ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional, he claimed that Iowa could soon become a “gay marriage Mecca due to the Supreme Court’s latest experiment in social engineering.” King has compared homosexuality to incest and described marriage equality as “a purely socialist concept.” While addressing a rally of supporters of the successful effort to remove three Iowa Supreme Court judges from the bench, King said that gay marriage will lead to the breakdown of the family, religion, and the Constitution:

I think that if we can’t defend marriage, that it becomes very hard to defend life. So, if we lose marriage — for instance, if our children are raised in warehouses, so to speak. There have been civilizations that have tried to do that. The Spartans did that. They took the children away and taught them to be warriors. It’s a good way to defend a country, but not much of a way to run a civilization.

So, I’m afraid if that happened — if we lose the marriage, we lose the home, we lose the nuclear family then we can’t teach our values. We won’t be able to teach our faith. We won’t be able to teach life. We won’t be able to teach our Constitutional values either. That’s why I’m afraid it’s going to be very, very difficult to defend life.

King was also the only member of the House to vote against a plaque commemorating the slaves who helped build the Capitol, which he said was part of a plot “by liberals in Congress to scrub references to America’s Christian heritage from our nation’s Capitol.”

Linda Harvey Compares Homosexuality to Cannibalism

Mission America president Linda Harvey this weekend hosted ex-gay therapist Floyd Godfrey, who describes his own path to “healing” his homosexuality by befriending more men, going to the gym and getting a job at a gas station as a mechanic. Harvey and Godfrey claimed gays and lesbians were most likely abused as children or have such envy for same-sex peers that they develop sexual feelings for them… just like cannibals who eat their own leaders.

Harvey: What I’ve heard of is that part of that though is that you think that you could become what that person is by being close to them, which I don’t think the male-female you never—is that accurate in any way? Almost like a cannibalism kind of a feeling.

Godfrey: That’s true. Dr. Elizabeth Moberly had talked about homosexuality like cannibalism because we’re so hungry. And that is what it feels like to those who struggle with homosexual feelings, they’re so hungry they just want to eat it up, they want to assimilate, they want to eat what they don’t feel like they have. If you look at cannibals they would eat the leaders of the tribe, they would eat those that have the qualities they so admired. A young man with homosexual attractions is so envious, he’s jealous of other boys, he puts them on a pedestal, he might idolize them, he’s jealous of them, so he’s trying to assimilate what he feels like he doesn’t have. So that’s where that metaphor comes from.

Hurricane Sandy is God's Vengeance for Lisa Miller

Back at the very beginning of the Lisa Miller saga, a Facebook page called "Only One Mommy: The Story of Lisa and Isabella Miller" that had been created by Rena Lindevaldsen, Miller's attorney and a professor at Liberty University Law School suddenly went dark and an announcement was made it would be "replaced by a new group (still to be named) that will be created by Linda Wall."

Wall, an "ex-gay" activist and close friend of Miller's who was among those named in a RICO lawsuit filed by Miller's ex-partner Janet Jenkins, created a Facebook group called "Lisa and Isabella" where she occasionally posted updates on the Miller case along with prayers for all those involved.

On Saturday, with Hurricane Sandy closing in on the East Coast, Wall set off a bit of controversy when she posted this short message on the group's page:

That statement, understandably, did not sit well with some of the Vermont-based members of the group:

Now what I am seeing is people openly admitting to imprecatory prayer that God will smite my neighbors and me because of where we live. Not prayers that Vermont's politicians and judges will see the error of their ways and come around. Not love. Hatred. And the worst part is that it's not just hatred for enemies, but for innocent people. We must pay the price too solely because of where we live.

And then when I object to prayers FOR MY DEVASTATION (yes that's personal!), I'm met with self-righteous self-justification and excuses. I'm told that I need to do things that are not practical or else I deserve to be harmed.

But Wall was unapologetic, shooting back that "God's judgment is upon this country" and Hurricane Sandy was an example of God's vengeance:

I didn't expect most of you to agree with my statement. But I tell you this the tragedy here is that a little six year old Christian girl and her born again Mother had to flee America in order to obey God's Word.

And now a Minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ is facing imprisonment for helping protect a little child from being removed from her biological Christian Mother and turned over to a stranger.

Christians who loved and nurtured Lisa and Isabella through the six plus years are also being sued for obeying God's Word. So look in the mirror and decide where your commitment is.

Vengeance is God's and He does repay.

Not surprisingly, all the offending posts have since been removed.

Beck: 'Today Officially is the Day That I no Longer Recognize My Country'

It has become quite clear that the attack that killed Libyan ambassador Christopher Stevens in Benghazi is now Glenn Beck's primary obsession as both his radio and television programs are now dominated by the topic, prompting Beck to cycle between screaming outrage and heartbroken weeping, as he did on Friday when he unleashed his fury against President Obama for being so "arrogant" that he didn't really care what happened to his hand-picked ambassador; a realization that, in turn, caused him to break down in fear that America is going to "become a global terrifying force for evil" and declare that "today officially is the day that I no longer recognize my country":

People For the American Way Expands Latino Vote Campaign to Colorado

Washington, DC -- With a week to go before Election Day, People For the American Way has announced that it is expanding its national Latino voter campaign to run Spanish-language TV ads in Colorado, where the presidential race remains tight and the votes of Latinos will be critical. PFAW's message will counter that of Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS, which recently began running Spanish-language TV ads in Colorado.

"Karl Rove is telling lies to Latinos in Colorado, trying to hide Mitt Romney's extreme anti-immigrant record," said Michael Keegan, President of People For the American Way. "We're making sure Latino voters in Colorado know the truth about Mitt Romney. He said he would veto the DREAM Act, if given the chance. His immigration plan is to copy the extreme anti-immigrant policies of Arizona and Alabama, attempting to force undocumented immigrants to 'self-deport.' He has embraced his party's anti-immigrant extremists, taking on Kris Kobach as an adviser. Romney's plans aren't real solutions -- they are dangerous gifts to the anti-immigrant Right."

The PFAW ad running in Colorado, "DREAM Act," can be viewed here.

Joyner: Obama Administration Committing 'Serious Persecution against Christians'

Charisma Magazine has posted Rick Joyner’s weekly update where he claims that anti-Christian persecution in America has greatly accelerated under the Obama administration. Of course Joyner doesn’t have any real evidence to make such a specious claim besides arguing that the Shepard-Byrd hate crimes law “specifically targets Christians,” still insisting that the government is just itching to use the 2009 law to arrest pastors, ban the Bible and censor speech. He also warned that “serious persecution against Christians in America “will come from the U.S. officials who are committing acts of “treason” by trying to “subject Americans to international laws and the U.N. resolutions”; naturally, Joyner did not name specific international codes that will soon be imposed on America.

There are many ways that our federal government has overreached and has brazenly done what the Constitution forbids. In most of these, you can see an obvious agenda of suppressing Christianity. The same Constitution that forbids Congress from establishing religion also prohibits it from hindering its free exercise. I’m often asked if I think Christians in America will suffer persecution, and my response is that it has been happening for a long time. If our present trajectory is not changed, we can expect it to soon become official state policy. Right now it is unofficial state policy.

Under the present administration, there have been a number of ways that the ground is being laid for a far more serious persecution against Christians in America. Some of this is coming through legislation such as the “hate crimes” legislation that specifically targets Christians. Some is coming through attempts to subject Americans to international laws and the U.N. resolutions, another very blatant violation of the Constitution. Article 6 declares that the Constitution will be “the supreme law of the land.” To subject Americans to any law other than our Constitution would therefore be a basic attack on the Constitution.

Because every elected or appointed official of our government has to take a vow to defend the Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic, those who are promoting these agendas are leading us to a very serious constitutional crisis and could even be considered treason.

His fellow Oak Initiative board member Janet Porter also released a new video warning of anti-Christian persecution due to President Obama’s endorsement of marriage equality and, Porter suggests, support for Sharia law. “Sure it’s possible you can have freedom in a second Obama administration, but seeing as how they’re already arresting Americans for unpopular YouTube videos, I wouldn’t count on it,” Porter says, “If he’s allowed to do much more, we won’t have a country left.” If Obama is re-elected, “you can expect the internet to be regulated, the dollar to be worthless, the Constitution to be shredded and for the civilian military to show up on your door for speech violations.”

In 2008, Porter warned that Obama would appoint Bill Ayers to head the Department of Homeland Security, play the Muslim call to prayer from the Capitol and hold friendly meetings with Osama bin Laden.

Joel Rosenberg Warns of the Implosion of America

Joel Rosenberg, End Times fanatic and Christian author, recently spoke to Olive Tree Ministries leader Jan Markell about the imminent implosion of the United States, warning that if we do not change the course of our nation, we “could collapse economically, morally, and spiritually.” The best case scenario, according to Rosenberg, is if the Rapture comes prior to the forthcoming implosion so that “the Lord can remove [his] people [and] his church.” The one ramification of the Rapture that will truly lead to economic turmoil and the downfall of our nation, says Rosenberg, is foreclosure.

The Rapture seems like the best case scenario, that the Lord would remove his people, his church prior to the implosion of the United States, but I do think that if implosion of America hasn’t happened by the time of the Rapture that the Rapture will cause…you mention one example in your list was foreclosure, and the whole concept of foreclosure is that people can’t pay their mortgages, and therefore banks get stuck with debt when that happens in thousands, in hundreds of thousands of cases banks go under and this has a ripple effect on the economy. Well, imagine the foreclosure problems the day after the Rapture, when thirty million homeowners disappear—this is the end of the American economic system as we know it. And I go through a wider range of scenarios that would come with the Rapture here in the United States, but I think it’s possible that God might cause or allow the implosion of the United States to begin before the Rapture.

But our problems do not stop at foreclosure, cautions Rosenberg. He claims that legal abortion is worse than the Holocaust, stating that “we have killed ten times the number of human beings the Nazis killed among the Jews during the Holocaust.” Rosenberg declares that we must criminalize abortion or God will judge America like he punished Nazi Germany.

Americans are just getting very fearful that if we don’t change course, starting with the election, we could collapse economically, morally, spiritually…. I just want to point out one thing as we’re closing, I was at Auschwitz last fall, just after your conference last year, and to stand there as a Jewish young man in a gas chamber, and to realize that Hitler killed six million Jews during the Holocaust. Americans have killed 53 million babies through abortions since 1973, and we are heading toward 60 million. That means that we will have killed ten times the number of human beings the Nazis killed among the Jews at least during the Holocaust, and you have to say to yourself, we know what God did to judge the Nazi regime, what might he do to America if we do not repent, and I think that’s the real question and the heart of implosion.

Beck: 'I'm Sorry America, but Your President is a Liar'

On Wednesday night's program, Glenn Beck spent the entire hour laying out a rather confusing theory about how the Obama administration has systemically lied about the attack in Benghazi, Libya as part of an attempt to cover up the fact that it has been secretly arming Syrian rebels for the benefit of al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The entire program was an epic performance of conspiracy and delusion driven by an amazing lack of self-awareness as Beck said that someone who will so willingly and unapologetically lie to his audience must either "have deep psychological problems" or be totally insane, eventually getting very serious and quiet to declare "I'm sorry America, but your president is a liar" before dramatically walking off camera:

PFAW Ad Campaign Reaches out to Latino Voters

This week, the White House made public President Obama’s endorsement interview with the Des Moines Register’s editorial board. In the interview, the president is frank about what he thinks could be the deciding factor in this election – the votes of Latinos:

The second thing I’m confident we’ll get done next year is immigration reform. And since this is off the record, I will just be very blunt. Should I win a second term, a big reason I will win a second term is because the Republican nominee and the Republican Party have so alienated the fastest-growing demographic group in the country, the Latino community. And this is a relatively new phenomenon. George Bush and Karl Rove were smart enough to understand the changing nature of America. And so I am fairly confident that they’re going to have a deep interest in getting that done. And I want to get it done because it’s the right thing to do and I've cared about this ever since I ran back in 2008.

The president is right that as the United States’ Latino population has grown in recent years, the GOP has increasingly pushed Latinos aside. While John McCain and George W. Bush both to some extent supported bipartisan efforts at comprehensive immigration reform, Mitt Romney has embraced some of his party’s most extreme anti-immigrant rhetoric and policies. He touted the endorsement of Kris Kobach, the man behind draconian anti-immigrant measures in Arizona and Alabama, then took Kobach on as an adviser. He said he would veto the DREAM Act if it were to be passed by Congress. He says his immigration strategy is to make the lives of immigrants so miserable that they are forced to “self-deport.” He endorsed Steve King, the Iowa congressman who has compared immigrants to “cattle” and “dogs.”

Unsurprisingly, Latino voters haven’t been responding well to Romney’s record. Bush won 40 percent of the Latino vote in 2004, and McCain won 31 percent in 2008. Romney is currently polling at 20 -25 percent among Latinos.

Earlier this month People For the American Way launched a 5-week, $1.2 million campaign to remind Latino voters about Mitt Romney’s policies. We’re running TV ads in four states (Ohio, Wisconsin, Virginia and Nevada), radio ads in five (with the addition of North Carolina), and operating a direct mail program. Here are the three of the TV ads that we’ve run so far. English translations are available in the description of each video on YouTube.

Diana West: Benghazi Attack was a 'Fortunate Event' Because it Helps Romney

Last time we reported on conservative columnist Diana West, she and Frank Gaffney of the Center for Security Policy were agreeing that President Obama is ineligible to be president because his birth certificate is likely a forgery. Gaffney hailed West, who also collaborated with him on his “Team B II Report: Sharia: the Threat to America” [PDF], for her birther “research” and called her a “hero of the Republic.”

West appeared on Gaffney’s radio program once again this week to discuss the Obama administration’s response to the Benghazi attack. West said that the attack was a “fortunate event” because it is “grabbing people’s attention so that we can understand what’s wrong with the American ‘Arab Spring’ policy that Obama has been executing,” giving Mitt Romney an opportunity to criticize Obama’s “lies” and policies “supporting jihad, Muslim Brotherhood actors.”

West: As you and I have discussed, I strongly feel that Benghazi is almost in a strange way a fortunate event. Not obviously having to do with any of the actual killing and destruction and harm it’s done to our country, but in the sense of grabbing people’s attention so that we can understand what’s wrong with the American ‘Arab Spring’ policy that Obama has been executing. In a sense that’s what I would have wanted in a Republican nominee to use Benghazi as a teaching school, taking it down the line, whether it’s presidential lies, administration lies, whether it’s security failure and whether it’s sort of the über-theme, the failure of supporting jihad, Muslim Brotherhood actors across the Middle East and how it comes back to bight you every time.

Gaffney: Yes, you have written brilliantly about this.

Erick Stakelbeck: 'Imam Obama' is Aiding the Muslim Brotherhood

The Christian Broadcasting Network’s terrorism analyst Erick Stakelbeck has no credentials to report on security issues (he is a sports reporter), but that hasn’t stopped him from playing the role as “expert.” Stakelbeck appeared on The Janet Mefferd Show to repeat right-wing talking points to claim that President Obama is a failed leader. He said Obama is “using the bin Laden raid as his sole, only foreign policy talking point,” arguing that it doesn’t reflect “foreign policy” and that “anyone in their right mind” would have made the call to go into Pakistan to find bin Laden (unless you’re Mitt Romney). But then Stakelbeck claimed that mission didn’t really matter since bin Laden “was basically isolated and neutralized at that point anyway.”

He went on to talk about how Obama is “empowering and emboldening the Muslim Brotherhood,” “throwing Israel under the bus” and “appeasing the Iranians,” and even said that Obama may pull of an “October surprise” by making a deal with Iran or sending troops into Libya. “Who knows what else they have up their sleeve, I have to say these are people who are leftist ideologues, they are hell-bent in their words ‘fundamentally transforming America,’ and I don’t think they’re going to go quietly,” he said.

Stakelbeck also discussed with Mefferd the non-scandal in Benghazi, arguing that the President has turned into “Imam Obama” over his UN speech where he said: “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam. But to be credible, those who condemn that slander must also condemn the hate we see in the images of Jesus Christ that are desecrated, or churches that are destroyed, or the Holocaust that is denied.” Stacelbeck decried the speech and lamented, “This is an American president saying that in front of the UN? This is madness,” apparently forgetting that President George W. Bush made similar statements during the Muhammad cartoon controversy. He concluded that Muslim countries can never have democracy because “Islam and true democracy are not compatible.”

Stakelbeck: He goes in front of the UN two weeks later and blames this obscure YouTube clip that no one has seen that’s defaming Mohammad. Not only that, when he goes before the UN General Assembly in a stunning statement which the mainstream media also ignored, he says ‘the future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.’

Mefferd: As if we all accept him as prophet, right?

Stakelbeck: Thank you Imam Obama. Not ‘Islam’s prophet,’ ‘the prophet of Islam.’ This is an American president saying that in front of the UN? This is madness.

Mefferd: I know.

Stakelbeck: I don’t believe that Islam and democracy are compatible. I know that’s a very controversial thing to say but if history is a judge and the Koran is a judge, then I believe that’s a fact, that Islam and true democracy are not compatible.

Fischer: Obama 'May in Fact be a Closeted Muslim'

While taking calls from listeners yesterday, Bryan Fischer was asked by "Chip in Fitzgerald, Georgia" why nobody in the mainstream media was reporting on the fact the WND-based conspiracy theory claiming that President Obama's wedding ring proves that he is a Muslim.

While the obvious explanation would be that nobody has reported on it because it is nonsense, that was not the explanation that Fischer offered because he knows the real reason the media is not reporting on it is because it is evidence that Obama "may in fact be a closeted Muslim":

Fischer: If Obama is Re-Elected, 'America has no Future'

As is his usual practice, Bryan Fischer began his radio program yesterday with a Bible reading and discussion, in this case a passage from 2 Kings.  It is Fischer's belief that the Old Testament was preserved so that we can understand "the principles by which God deals with nations," and this reading prompted him to declare that if this nation re-elects President Obama in November "I sincerely believe that America has no future" as the decision "will either delay [God's] day of judgment or it will hasten that day of judgment":

Wilson: Obama is Leading a 'War on Christian People'

Lawsuits challenging the mandate for contraception coverage have not fared well in the courts, but American Family Association general manager Buster Wilson today said that the provision is clearly unconstitutional and is proof of the Obama administration’s purported hostility towards Christians. “There’s no war on women, that’s a fantasy,” Wilson said. “The war is on Christian people.” He later warned that the government may soon “cause you to hire homosexuals” and eradicate religious freedom.

There’s no war on women, that’s a fantasy. The war is on Christian people. The war is on the First Amendment. What does the First Amendment say, let’s just go back to basics, what does the First Amendment say? The First Amendment says Congress shall impose no law that prohibits the free exercise of religion. What is this mandate out of the Obamacare law if it is not a congressional imposition on the exercise of religion?

If they win this argument then we will lose other religious liberties. Here’s the way the argument will go: we have proven through the courts and otherwise that businesses don’t have the freedom to practice the religious liberties of the First Amendment so we can cause businesses to do anything. Next will be to cause you to hire homosexuals or next will be to cause you to pay into something else you don’t agree to. I mean it will just be one thing after another. And for all the folks out there from Right Wing Watch and all their entities that want to mock us for this, you just wait, one day something is going to come that is going to infringe on some Constitutional liberty that you cherish and you’re going to start screaming bloody murder too.

Harvey: Parents must 'Protect Their Children' from Schools with Transgender Teachers and Inclusive Policies

After urging parents to withdraw their children from schools which have bullying-prevention programs that cover anti-LGBT bullying, Linda Harvey of Mission America is now telling parents to consider keeping their children from any school with any LGBT-inclusive policy at all. Harvey on her radio commentary discussed the case of an Illinois school board that rescinded a measure, which had been approved with unanimous support, to ensure the safety of transgender students. While that board repealed their policy, Harvey warned that more schools “are starting to buy in to the monstrous idea that some children should be supported as they try to flip their biological genders,” who she said “need compassion and help, not a stamp of approval.” “These children need help, not an open door into this lifestyle,” Harvey claimed, and she went on to say that parents should look into removing their children from schools with transgender-inclusive policies and transgender teachers in order to “protect their children and if needed move them to an environment where they won’t be subjected to outright lies and corruption.”

Most of you are aware by now of the push to get our kids to accept homosexuality in our schools, in the media and even in some sadly misguided churches. But are you aware of how rapidly another agenda is moving in right behind this one? I’m talking about transgenderism, you know, boys dressing as girls, calling themselves by girls’ names, and vice versa. Amazingly, public school educators are starting to buy in to the monstrous idea that some children should be supported as they try to flip their biological genders. Instead of enabling this disordered behavior, we should be standing strong against such conduct and making it clear to all students that this is a path they do not want to travel. These kids need compassion and help, not a stamp of approval.

It’s truly sad when there are students are so confused and troubled enough that they want to challenge the very basis of their biology and anatomy, their genders. These children need help, not an open door into this lifestyle. But the homosexual lobby and the big teachers unions have convinced a growing number of educators that there is nothing wrong with this, in some schools there are even teachers who themselves are transvestites or who have had gender-change surgery. It’s troubling when people who so easily waffle on basic ethical questions are in charge of our children’s education. When moral anarchy threatens to become the new normal, it’s up to parents to protect their children and if needed move them to an environment where they won’t be subjected to outright lies and corruption. These bizarre trends will only end if we speak out where we can and vote in new leadership where needed in these tax-funded schools. Please pray friends about what God would have you do if this comes up in your community.
