2nd Hearing Confirms Case Against Priscilla Owen

Conclusion

The unprecedented renomination of Justice Priscilla Owen to a lifetime position on the federal court of appeals remains deeply troubling. The second hearing held for her on March 13 to “set the record straight” did no more than the first to dispel the serious concerns that have been raised about Justice Owen’s record. Those concerns are as valid now as they were six months ago when the Judiciary Committee appropriately rejected Owen’s confirmation. Justice Owen’s record is clear, and the unprecedented effort to confirm her should be rejected once again by all appropriate means.
