Larry Pratt Tells 'Sovereign Citizen' That Most Federal Laws Are Unconstitutional Anyway

Gun Owners of America director Larry Pratt has a long history in the far-right fringes of the anti-government movement, so it is hardly a surprise that members of the radical “sovereign citizen” movement — who believe that they are not beholden to U.S. laws —are now courting his favor.

Pratt was a guest on VCY America’s “Crosstalk” program on Tuesday when a listener called in identifying himself as a “sovereign” from Wisconsin and asked him, “I just wondered if somebody of your stature would stand up and scream from the rooftops that these 60 million codes and regulations don’t apply to us, only to U.S. citizens.”

While Pratt didn’t address the “sovereign citizen” movement directly, he told the caller that most federal laws are unconstitutional anyway and “should be stricken.”

“Well, I think you can make the same point with another argument, that the body of, the corpus of law and regulations you’re pointing to, almost none of it comes under the Constitution,” he said. “It gives powers to the federal government that were not given to the federal government in the Constitution. They should be stricken.”

This led the show’s host, Jim Eliason, to bring up the upcoming Supreme Court arguments about marriage equality, which Pratt agreed is “not something for the federal government or the federal judiciary to be sticking their nose into.”

“God bless Judge Roy Moore,” he added, praising the Alabama Supreme Court’s chief justice for defying a federal court ruling striking down the state’s marriage equality ban.

Senator Chaps? Gordon Klingenschmitt, Colorado's Premier Demon-Hunting Legislator, Announces Bid For State Senate

Just two days ago, Colorado's demon-hunting gay-exorcising state Rep. Gordon "Dr. Chaps" Klingenschmitt had his seat on House Health, Insurance and Environment Committee restored after having been stripped of it last month amid the controversy stemming from his statement that a brutal attack on a pregnant woman in the state was due to the "curse of God upon America" for legal abortion.

Klingenschmitt eventually apologized for his remarks, suspended his daily television program, played the victim by lashing out at the media, and then generally kept his head down in the ensuing weeks in an effort to simply wait out the controversy. And now that it seems to have passed, Klingenschmitt held a town hall meeting last night to triumphantly announce that he is now running for a seat in the state Senate:

What was billed as a town hall meeting turned into a half-hour tease for Rep. Gordon Klingenschmitt's announcement that he plans to run for a state Senate seat.

Klingenschmitt, R-Colorado Springs, went through a list of his accomplishments in the state Legislature Wednesday at the Airplane Restaurant. He also discussed his attempts to "fight for Republican principles" that didn't make it through the Democrat-controlled House. He took a small handful of questions limited to constituents in House District 15, teasing his "plans for 2016" along the way, before announcing he plans to run for Senate District 12.

The seat is held by Senate President Bill Cadman, who will reach his term limit in 2016.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 captured video of Klingenschmitt's announcement:

Donald Trump: Obama Letting In Drug Lords To Help The Democratic Party

While speaking yesterday with conservative talk show host John Fredericks, Donald Trump said that Central and South American countries are sending immigrants “they don’t want” to America while “keeping their good.”

“The ones we are getting are the drug lords, we’re getting the gang members, and we’re getting some people that are fine, but we’re not getting the best and finest from South America, believe me,” Trump said. Trump accused President Obama of deliberately keeping the border unprotected because he wants to “build up the Democrat [sic] Party.”

He also went after Jeb Bush, whom he repeatedly referred to as “George Bush,” and Marco Rubio, for their stances on immigration. “All of them are weak, Rubio was very much in favor of letting them come, letting come and now all of the sudden he’s trying to toughen up,” Trump said. “They say he’s the new John F. Kennedy. Give me a break, this is not the new John F. Kennedy.”

Trump also went on a rant about Bowe Bergdahl, claiming that the U.S. “should send him back” and “drop him right in the middle of those characters and they will take care of him.” “In the old days you’d execute Berghdal, when this country was strong and powerful and meant something, you would execute Berghdal,” he added.

'Clinton Cash' Author Previously Involved In Discredited Shirley Sherrod Smear Campaign

Former Bush speechwriter Peter Schweizer’s new book, “Clinton Cash,” which alleges that Hillary Clinton used the State Department to do favors for Clinton Foundation donors, is coming under close scrutiny for its unsupported claims and Schweizer’s long history of conservative advocacy.

That advocacy includes an episode in 2010 when Schweizer and his then-colleagues at BigGovernment.com led a racially charged smear campaign against Shirley Sherrod, at the time an official at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The smear effort started when BigGovernment.com’s late founder Andrew Breitbart posted a video of Sherrod speaking at an NAACP event, which the site edited to make it appear as though Sherrod admitted to mistreating a white farmer due to racist feelings. Breitbart’s video left out crucial details where Sherrod said that she actually learned that such feelings were wrong and helped the farmer in his struggle. The farmer in question also disputed claims that she acted in a racially prejudicial way. But that didn’t stop conservative media from picking up the video, ultimately leading to the USDA firing Sherrod.

After his video was exposed as deceptive, Breitbart tried to pivot by claiming that he was really more interested in the Pigford case, a civil rights class action suit involving the historical discrimination against black farmers seeking government loans, in which Sherrod was a plaintiff.

Breitbart alleged that Sherrod was really fired as part of a government cover-up of some sort of under-the-table-reparations-vote-buying scheme for African-Americans in which the government was handing out Pigford settlement money to unjustified claimants. His allegation about the real reason for Sherrod’s firing — like the edited video — was without merit, but it gave him a new way to attack Sherrod and the Obama administration at the same time.

In 2011, Schweizer, a BigGovernment.com contributor, appeared on End Times conspiracy theorist Rick Wiles’ “Trunews” program to discuss the allegations, defending Breitbart’s role in the Sherrod affair and repeating discredited talking points about a supposed cover-up and a black-vote-buying scheme championed by Obama.

Schweizer defended Breitbart by saying the conservative media star “didn’t see the original” video of Sherrod’s remarks and “apologized for that,” adding that “the principle was still there, that there was selective justice taking place.” He also agreed with Breitbart’s false claim that the administration only “went after” Sherrod as a result of the Pigford episode: “What we believe happened is that when Sherrod became the public figure as a result of this incident, it gave people a peek at Pigford.”

“Why was there this amazing reaction to this incident? Why was Shirley Sherrod such a hot figure, as it were, that the White House itself intervened and wanted to drop it so quickly? And we believe it was because they did not want attention given to Pigford,” he said. Several months before the interview, the Los Angeles Times reported that USDA emails at the time show that the deceptive video and the resulting conservative media firestorm were the causes of Sherrod’s ousting.

Schweizer also wondered why Obama, then a “senator from Illinois where there are only, as far as we can tell, maybe a handful of black farmers, and of course he comes from an urban background, he’s not a rural senator,” had such a “long and personal interest in Pigford” and wrote letters “to the USDA telling employees to shut up about the fact that they believed there was widespread corruption.”

“It led us to believe and led us to the conclusion that there was a huge political element to Pigford that involved Barack Obama and involved basically buying votes,” he said.

Schweizer told Wiles that then-Sen. Obama tried to “shut up” Pigford whistleblowers: “That’s really because Barack Obama and others see this for their benefit as a way to buy votes. They are passing out $50,000 checks to people who they believe, and I think he’s correct, will ultimately be voting for him. So it’s wealth redistribution, it’s passing the money around to your patrons and it’s sticking taxpayers with a bill that to date is more than $2 billion.”

Scott Lively: Only 'Pitchforks And Torches' Can Stop Gay Marriage

Anti-LGBT pundit Scott Lively argues in a column today that the only way to stop the legalization of gay marriage is to form an “angry mob” that will take to “the streets, pitchforks and torches held aloft, ready to tear down Frankenstein’s castle with their bare hands if need be.”

“The only way to deter the elites is with the threat of the mob,” Lively writes in a piece posted in the right-wing outlets BarbWire and WorldNetDaily. “They need to see the pitchforks and torches to know they’ve gone too far and need to back down. That’s where we are today in America. The elites want to eliminate the natural family to create a better class of serfs: state-bred children for the factories and the battlefield — easier to control, dulled by drugs and sexual promiscuity … and bread and circuses.”

Calling for liberals and conservatives to unite behind opposition to gay rights, he warns that marriage equality is akin to GMO foods or medication that is “destroying bodies” with “poisonous ‘remedies.’”

The battle today is for marriage, the core of the natural family. Every human being on this planet will be harmed if the elites are allowed to destroy it by mutation. It is no different than Monsanto destroying natural foods or seeds by mutating their DNA, or Big Pharma destroying bodies by flooding the health industry with artificial, often poisonous “remedies.” Our common paradigm in the grassroots for guiding society should be natural vs artificial across the board, including natural marriage and family: rejecting the counterfeit alternatives to the self-evident design of our ecology — and our physiology.

The natural family is the ecosystem of humanity! It must be preserved at all costs.

How? By a populist uprising! The elites need to see the angry mob — liberals and conservatives together — surging through the streets, pitchforks and torches held aloft, ready to tear down Frankenstein’s castle with their bare hands if need be. For Christians it’s Jesus and the money-changers time! Making a whip of cords like He did with His own hands, and letting these arrogant puppet masters know we mean to use it (metaphorically speaking).

The only way to deter the elites is with the threat of the mob. They need to see the pitchforks and torches to know they’ve gone too far and need to back down.

That’s where we are today in America. The elites want to eliminate the natural family to create a better class of serfs: state-bred children for the factories and the battlefield — easier to control, dulled by drugs and sexual promiscuity … and bread and circuses.

Rep. Steve King Introduces Court-Stripping Bill Written By Radical Anti-Gay Activists

Yesterday, Rep. Steve King announced the introduction of his "Restrain the Judges on Marriage Act of 2015," which would strip federal courts of the ability to hear any case involving the issue of marriage equality:

A Republican lawmaker is trying to keep federal courts from hearing same-sex marriage cases.

Less than a week before the Supreme Court plans to hear arguments in potentially one of the nation’s most influential cases on gay marriage, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) introduced the Restrain the Judges on Marriage Act of 2015 to preserve state bans.

“For too long, federal courts have overstepped their constitutionally limited duty to interpret the Constitution.” King said in a news release. “Rather, federal courts have perverted the Constitution to make law and create constitutional rights to things such as privacy, birth control, and abortion. These Unenumerated, so-called constitutionally-protected rights were not envisioned by our Founding Fathers.”

King’s bill strips way Article III of the Constitution, which gives federal courts the jurisdiction to hear or decide any question pertaining to the interpretation of, or the validity under the Constitution of, any type of marriage. The bill also prohibits federal funds from being used for any litigation in, or enforcement of any order or judgment by, any federal court.

King said his bill would stop the courts from “destroying traditional marriage.”

What is going unreported is fact that this bill is the result of a campaign backed by some of the most radical anti-gay activists operating today, including Peter LaBarbera, BarbWire, Vision America, Dr. Steve Hotze, and others.

The idea itself was the brainchild of Faith 2 Action's Janet Porter, a longtime anti-gay activist who, just yesterday, warned that gay marriage was responsible for Noah's flood.

Porter was also the driving force behind the recent anti-gay documentary "Light Wins," which featured a handful of GOP elected officials and presidential candidates along with dozens of hardline anti-gay activists warning that gay activists seek to criminalize Christianity:

Not too long ago, we produced an overview of just some of the insane things that Porter has said and done in recent years:

  • Claimed that pastors who won’t perform same-sex marriages will be “carried off into jail” in states with marriage equality laws.
  • Blamed gay rights for Noah’s Flood in a column entitled: “How Same-Sex Marriage Points To End Of The World.”
  • Claimed Jason Collins’ decision to come out of the closet will endanger freedom.
  • Warned that President Obama will use the Swine flu to “round up American citizens” and throw them in “FEMA concentration camps.”
  • Wondered if former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson is the Antichrist.

Right Wing Round-Up - 4/22/15

Right Wing Bonus Tracks - 4/22/15

  • Bryan Fischer says Christians shouldn't attend a gay wedding, just like they wouldn't attend the opening of a new crack house.
  • Linda Harvey says the Girl Scouts are now advocating "anything that is anti-Christian, and anything that would dishonor girls."
  • After being stripped of a committee assignment because of controversial comments that he made, Colorado state Rep. Gordon klingenschmitt has now had his seat restored.
  • Marco Rubio is quietly reaching out to gay conservatives and Republicans, which is probably not going to help him with anti-gay activists who are already leery of him.
  • Obviously, the true purpose of Common Core is to dumb people down.
  • Finally, The Stream interviews Robert Oscar Lopez, who helpfully explains why his new book is entitled "Jepthah’s Daughters: Innocent Casualties in the War for Family 'Equality'."

Tony Perkins: Obama & Gay Rights Movement Inspire ISIS To Murder Christians

Family Research Council President Tony Perkins has tried to use violence against Middle East Christians as a way to attack gay rights and campaign finance reform efforts in the U.S., and now he is linking the firing of Atlanta fire chief Kevin Cochran, who was found in violation of city employment practices when he distributed to employees a self-published book that included attacks on homosexuality, to the slaughter of Christians by the terrorist group ISIS.

Perkins tells FRC members in an email today that they should donate to his group so that it can stop the “administration’s persecution of Christians within our borders” and stand up for people like Cochran, insisting that the Atlanta official’s firing has emboldened anti-Christian violence abroad.

“The same rampage of ‘political correctness’ that attacked Kelvin Cochran's freedom to believe is coming to your state, your town, your church. Christians you know are targets . . . maybe Christians in your own home,” Perkins writes. “The same rampage of hate that destroyed the career of Kelvin Cochran tells the killers in ISIS, who closely watch America's domestic affairs, that our government doesn't value freedom of belief.”

I'm emailing you with the month more than half gone, and the struggle for the freedom to believe—the God-given freedom to live your faith without punishment—under growing attack.

That's why it's urgent that FRC receive enough funds from friends like you to TRIPLE our $50,000 "Free to Believe" Challenge Grant. Response from friends has been so strong that we have set a goal to triple the challenge.

This grant will help achieve our new goal of receiving $150,000 by April 31.

Why is this so urgent?

Ask Christian wives, mothers and daughters overseas. Their husbands, sons and fathers are being beheaded or shot by radical Islamic jihadists like ISIS. They are being driven from their homes. Children are being martyred. And our administration has done little to help, and for months resisted calling this massacre of Christians by Islamic jihadists what it is.

As General Boykin and I testified before the United Nations on Friday April 17, our administration's persecution of Christians within our borders is emboldening the attack on Christians worldwide.

Why would Islamist butchers fear our government, or believe the United States would defend Christians elsewhere when they do nothing to help Christians under attack for their faith right here in America?

Ask Kelvin Cochran—a veteran fire chief with a stellar record—who was fired by the City of Atlanta . . . for writing a book that expressed the biblical view of morality. Yes, fired. If Kelvin Cochran can be fired, any Christian is at risk.

If our government won't call religious genocide overseas what it is, any Christian, any place, is at risk.

The same rampage of "political correctness" that attacked Kelvin Cochran's freedom to believe is coming to your state, your town, your church. Christians you know are targets . . . maybe Christians in your own home.

The same rampage of hate that destroyed the career of Kelvin Cochran tells the killers in ISIS, who closely watch America's domestic affairs, that our government doesn't value freedom of belief.

No Christian is safe.

Janet Porter: Gay Marriage To Blame For Noah's Flood, Will Usher In End Times

Faith 2 Action founder and anti-gay filmmaker Janet Porter has a message for the Supreme Court: Strike down bans on same-sex marriage, and the whole world may be doomed.

In her daily radio bulletin today, Porter once again claimed that gay marriage was responsible for Noah’s Flood.

She even suggested that such a move by the court could lead to the Second Coming: “If this is true, we are uniquely positioned for the return of Christ like no other time in history.”
