According to a new CBS News poll, 75 percent of the American people are undecided or haven’t heard enough about Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito to make up their minds. Those who stated an opinion are split, with 14 percent having a favorable opinion of Alito and 10 percent having an unfavorable opinion.

“This process is just beginning,” said People For the American Way President Ralph G. Neas. “Samuel Alito’s confirmation is far from a done deal. We’re going to help Americans learn about Judge Alito’s record and judicial philosophy. And we’re confident that when they understand just how damaging his confirmation could be to their rights, freedoms, and legal protections, they will join us in urging the Senate to reject his nomination.”
