People For the American Way (PFAW) today announced that Ari Rabin-Havt will join the organization to serve as a Senior Fellow as a part of the Right Wing Watch team.

Rabin-Havt brings with him significant expertise in electoral politics, the far-right, and Republican extremism. Previously, Rabin-Havt served as executive vice president of Media Matters for America, and he has served as an adviser to Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid and former Vice President Al Gore. Rabin-Havt’s writing has appeared in outlets including USA Today, The New Republic, The Nation, The New York Observer, Salon, and The American Prospect, and he has appeared on MSNBC, CNBC, Al Jazeera, and HuffPost Live. In addition to hosting the daily radio show, The Agenda with Ari Rabin-Havt on SiriusXM Progress, Rabin-Havt has appeared on shows including MSNBC, CNN, CNBC, Al Jazeera, and HuffPost Live.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Ari to our team,” said People For the American Way President Michael Keegan. “His invaluable expertise on the far-right will add to Right Wing Watch’s already impressive reporting on the movement, and he’ll bring an important voice to People For the American Way’s critical work of countering Republican extremism and defending our Constitutional values.”

“With Donald Trump as the Republican presidential frontrunner and unprecedented obstruction from Senate Republicans on the Supreme Court, the work PFAW does to analyze the far-right and counter Republican extremism couldn’t be more timely or important,” said Ari Rabin-Havt. “I’m looking forward to joining PFAW and adding to their coverage of the right-wing movement.”

People For the American Way is a progressive advocacy organization founded to fight right-wing extremism and defend constitutional values including free expression, religious liberty, equal justice under the law, and the right to meaningfully participate in our democracy.
