In response to President-elect Donald Trump’s selection of Donald McGahn as White House counsel on Friday, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker released the following statement:

“McGahn is a long-time foe of efforts to curb big money in politics. He used his FEC position to actively undermine campaign finance rules and allow wealthy interests to dominate our political system. The prospect of McGahn helping to select Supreme Court nominees signals real danger for the ability of our lawmakers to set any reasonable limits on big money in elections. 

“If Trump wants to drain the swamp, McGahn is just about the last person he should be tapping to serve as White House counsel.”
