People For the American Way (PFAW) and PFAW Foundation announced that Khizr Khan, who inspired the nation with his speech at the Democratic National Convention last summer, has joined their boards of directors.

“We’re thrilled that Khizr Khan will bring his unique voice to PFAW and PFAW Foundation. He has a profound ability to connect a deep understanding of the Constitution with our most important American values,” said PFAW and PFAW Foundation President Michael Keegan. “As an organization founded to stand up for our shared constitutional values, and at a time when this work is the most important it’s ever been, no one embodies this critical fight better than Khizr Khan. We couldn’t be more grateful that he will join us in our efforts to protect the Constitution and ensure equal rights for every American.”

“I’m deeply honored to join the boards of PFAW and PFAW Foundation,” said Khizr Khan. “I look forward to working with the organizations to combat bigotry and protect the rights enshrined in our Constitution. It is of monumental importance that our country lives up to the ideals of our forefathers, and we will fight for this together."

Khizr Khan is a Gold Star father whose son was killed serving in the Iraq War. Khan, a Muslim American who immigrated to the United States from Pakistan, currently lives in Virginia with his wife, Ghazala Khan. The two rose to national prominence after their appearance at the Democratic National Convention, where they stood up against Donald Trump for his anti-Muslim, un-American bigotry.
