In response to the third and final presidential debate, People For the American Way released the following statements:

Marge Baker, People For the American Way Executive Vice President: “In tonight’s debate, the contrast on the Supreme Court could not have been clearer. Hillary Clinton said she’ll appoint justices who understand that the Constitution protects all of us, not just the wealthy and powerful. Donald Trump, for his part, made clear that he’ll nominate justices who will protect the privileges of the wealthy and powerful, but not the rights of ordinary people. The next president could nominate up to four justices who will serve for life on the Supreme Court. That means the choice we make in November won’t just be for the next four years; it will impact our country for a generation.”

Lizet Ocampo, People For the American Way Director of Latinos Vote!: "Seeing Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton side by side tonight demonstrated yet again what a clear choice we have this election. When Donald Trump wasn't smearing Latinos as 'bad hombres,' he was doubling down on mass deportation; promising that he'd appoint Supreme Court justices that would be devastating for the rights of women, workers, and immigrants; railing against Obamacare and trying to defend his economic policies that would hurt working families. Now is the time for us to stand up against Trump and for Clinton through our votes. We'll vote in record numbers this year to defeat Trump and the Republicans advancing his hateful agenda."

Earlier today, PFAW released a digital video spotlighting the Supreme Court as a central issue in the presidential election. Watch the video here, and for questions please email [email protected].
