“Rep. Elijah Cummings was a person of unshakable integrity and principle, an indomitable spirit who stood up to injustice when he saw it and served his constituents and country with great honor.  Throughout his decades in Congress, Rep. Cummings showed us over and over again how our government’s truest and highest purpose is to improve the lives and uphold the dignity of people.  We mourn his passing and will always remember him as one of our country’s heroes.”
