WASHINGTON, D.C.—People For the American Way today issued the following statement from PFAW President Michael Keegan in response to President Trump encouraging Israel to bar U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., and Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., from visiting.

“Trump never met a Muslim travel ban he didn’t love. He is obsessed with singling out and harassing these congresswomen specifically because they are the first two Muslim women elected to Congress and because they challenge his bigotry and his lies on a regular basis.

“During the 2016 campaign, Trump urged a foreign power to hack his opponents’ emails. Today, he’s urging a foreign power to slap travel restrictions on members of the U.S. Congress—even when the travel is in connection with their responsibilities as elected government officials.

“Trump’s only loyalty is to his bigotry.”
