WASHINGTON—After the Trump administration announced its third travel ban yesterday, which includes indefinite restrictions on visitors from eight countries, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker issued the following statement:

“President Trump’s travel ban was created to discriminate against immigrants and in particular Muslims, and this third version does not cure that fundamental flaw. Simply adding a tiny number of people from two non-Muslim majority countries to the ban does not obscure President Trump’s unconstitutional motive. This new ban is just more of the same: A loathsome, discriminatory ban dressed up as national security policy.

“The courts have already stopped parts of the previous bans from going into effect, but this new ban is another insult to immigrants and Muslims in this country and around the world. This kind of bigotry contradicts our core values and has no place in our country.”
