WASHINGTON, D.C.— As returns in tonight’s Virginia legislative elections are making it clear that the Virginia General Assembly has flipped to Democratic control, PFAW President Michael Keegan released the following statement:

“What has happened here in Virginia’s elections will reverberate throughout the country. Flipping the General Assembly of this once-red state to blue puts Republicans on notice that voters have had enough of Donald Trump, Republicans and their dangerous and divisive agenda. Virginia flipped because women, people of color, LGBTQ people, young people, immigrants, workers, families who need access to health care, and people who are fed up with unfettered access to dangerous firearms all came to the polls. This is truly a momentous occasion and we are confident it presages an even bigger blue wave nationwide in 2020 than we saw in 2018.”
