WASHINGTON— In response to Justin Fairfax’s win in the Virginia Democratic primary for lieutenant governor, People For the American Way President Michael Keegan released the following statement:

“Congratulations to Justin Fairfax on winning the Virginia Democratic primary for lieutenant governor tonight. Fairfax has proven himself to be a stalwart progressive and is exactly the kind of leader we need to see elected nationwide in order to move our country forward.

“PFAW is especially proud to have endorsed Fairfax through our Next Up Victory Fund. We created Next Up to build a deep bench of young, progressive candidates around the country. And we are on our way to doing just that. Now as we look to the general election in November, we must continue organizing to keep Virginia blue and stop extremism at the ballot box.”
