In response to today’s announcement that Karl Rove is stepping down as the White House’s deputy chief of staff, Mary Jean Collins, Political Director of People For the American Way, released the following statement:

“Rove has been the political mastermind of the lawless right-wing enterprise known as the Bush administration. It looks like he’s abandoning that sinking ship to ply his trade for one or more of the Bush wannabes. But he’s not likely to be successful – too many Americans have come to see that what Rove sold us is hurting us more than what he told us to fear.”
