A poll commissioned by Family Research Council Action claims that "Todd Akin has regained his lead over Senator Claire McCaskill by a 45% to 42% margin." Sadly, the effort to pass a "personhood" amendment will not be given a third opportunity to fail as organizers couldn't get enough signatures to even get it on the ballot. Rick Perry: 2016? Gary Bauer rips the media for supposedly being biased against Republicans: "They don’t even try to look like they’re unbiased anymore. I think it’s disgusting, but I think even more... MORE

Do you remember the time when then-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee went above and beyond to push for a convicted rapist to be paroled – over the objections of victims and the community – who then murdered two women? It began in 1996, when Huckabee began his push for the convicted rapist to be released, and ran through 2001, when the parolee was arrested for murdering two women. By most accounts, Huckabee took “extraordinary steps” to exert his influence. I wrote earlier that Huckabee has a long, sordid and frankly astonishing history involving the crime of rape, and... MORE

Buster Wilson of the American Family Association yesterday on AFA Today said he isn’t quite sure whether or not the government is preparing to imprison Americans in concentration camps, a claim that even Glenn Beck once flirted with until he later renounced it. Responding to a caller who warned that FEMA was preparing the nefarious plot, Wilson said that he heard “you can literally go right there and see them.” “I’ve seen pictures of what have been reported to be these FEMA camps,” Wilson claimed, “one of the most disturbing aspects about it to me is... Self-described "respected prophet" Cindy Jacobs appeared on the program "Power For Life With Matt Sorger" where she discussed her work as both a prophet and an intercessor for nations, revealing that "time and time again" she and her prayer warriors have managed to "avert a number of different potential bombings." In fact, Jacobs revealed that the accountant at Generals International had a dream about a terrorist attack being planned for Dallas and so the staff began to pray that the police would launch a sting operation and "it was... I’m not sure what the RNC schedulers were thinking, but Mike Huckabee is set to “legitimate rape” back on the map tonight – a mere two speeches ahead of Paul Ryan. To be sure, the former Arkansas governor and Fox News personality will be on his best behavior, but Huckabee is inextricably linked with Todd “legitimate rape” Akin. And as we’ll explore, Huckabee’s own record is even more extreme and disturbing than Akin’s.  Huckabee, who prominently endorsed Akin in his recent primary, quickly emerged as his top defender in the wake of... Conservative actor and off-and-on Mitt Romney surrogate Jon Voight told Tom Trento of The United West in an interview at the Republican National Convention in Tampa that he believes “the President is of the Marxist, socialist root.” Voight claimed that Obama’s parents, along with Frank Marshall Davis and Saul Alinsky inculcated him in Marxism and taught him to view America as an “imperialist state.” Watch: Trento: We have a president who simply has Marxist, socialist views and wants to remake America in his image; and we have a president [sic] that’s a... William Owens of the Coalition of African-American Pastors, which is not so much a real coalition as it is a right-wing front group, appeared on WallBuilders Live today with David Barton and Rick Green to denounce President Obama for endorsing same-sex marriage. The virulently anti-gay pastor once again compared his political activism to that of Martin Luther King, Jr., agreeing with Green’s suggestion that he is “taking the same stance Martin Luther King, Jr. would.” Owens also reiterated his claim that he was a civil rights figure, despite little evidence of his role in... Cross-posted at AlterNet Pete Sessions heads the National Republican Congressional Committee and in that role his top goal is electing Republicans. To that end, Sessions has worked with Log Cabin Republicans – and was honored by the group with its Barry Goldwater Award in 2010 – in spite of his own strongly anti-gay voting record: during the past three sessions of Congress his rating on HRC’s scorecard has ranged from zero all the way to six percent and now sits at three percent.  Sessions has voted repeatedly for federal constitutional... Kevin DeAnna of Youth for Western Civilization, now writing for WorldNetDaily, is joining Concerned Women for America in defending Russia for convicting members of the feminist protest band Pussy Riot for “hooliganism.” According to DeAnna, Pussy Riot’s protest inside a Russian cathedral was part of a larger effort “to promote degeneracy” and laments that while “Russia is certainly corrupt,” Russian president Vladimir Putin “has not gone far enough” in defending Russian nationalism. The real problem, DeAnna suggests, is that “... MORE

Liberty Counsel’s Mat Staver, whose firm represented “ex-gay” Lisa Miller who is now wanted for kidnapping, says the attorney representing Miller’s former partner Janet Jenkins “ought to be sanctioned” for filing a RICO lawsuit against Liberty University Law School, where Staver is the dean. Just before the lawsuit was filed against Liberty and other parties implicated in the kidnapping case, a Mennonite pastor was convicted for aiding Miller in kidnapping her daughter Isabella in order to avoid an impending court order to hand over custody to Jenkins....
