Missouri Republican senatorial candidate Todd Akin is organizing a “Common Sense Bus Tour” following Newt Gingrich’s visit to boost the congressman’s embattled campaign. While Akin seems to have lost the support of major GOP figures after he said that it is extremely unlikely for a woman to become pregnant as a result of “legitimate rape,” he has consistently held the support of Religious Right activists who adore his ultraconservative views. Eagle Forum, which is based in St. Louis, sent out this invitation: Phyllis Schlafly invites you to join her at... MORE

It looks like this weekend will kick off the Religious Right's latest protest against the Obama administration's contraception mandate with something called ActsFive29 in which activists plan to descend on the White House and risk arrest in announcing that they will never comply with the mandate.  The event takes its name from the Bible passage which declares "we must obey God rather than men" and is being sponsored by a handful of radical anti-choice groups including Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust, the Christian Defense Coalition, Pro-life Action League, Operation Rescue... For some truly inexplicable reason, Donald Trump was invited to be the Convocation speaker at Liberty University yesterday where he delivered a typically self-aggrandizing and buffoonish message that superficially about the importance of God and his Christian but was really about self-promotion and the importance of always getting even with your enemies. At one point, Trump weighed in on the subject of the Middle East as he declared that any president "with some brain power" would have agreed to help the rebels in Libya only after getting them to agree to give the United States... Operation Rescue founder and presidential candidate Randall Terry has announced another campaign, Operation Throw Obama Out, to run candidates for office so they can run graphic ads against abortion rights. According to the statement, Terry hopes to run ads that will be seen in swing states such as Colorado, Iowa, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio. Seven federal campaigns are poised to run withering ads against Obama in 21 states and the District of Columbia, including 7 vital swing states: Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, and Colorado. The TV ads show babies... MORE

Family Research Council Vice President Jerry Boykin appeared on Janet Parshall’s radio show In the Market yesterday to do—what else?—whip up anti-Muslim animosity and spew bizarre conspiracy theories. He told Parshall that “Islam is not a religion” but a “totalitarian way of life” since, apparently, only “16 percent of Islam is a religion.” Boykin said that people need to act just like the Founding Fathers did in speaking up against the Muslim faith, citing Parshall, End Times fanatic Joel Rosenberg and others as courageous people who are... On yesterday's episode of "Prophetic Perspective on Current Events," Rick Joyner was discussing the recent remarks made by Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy and the controversy they created when he declared that "most Christians [and] most conservatives are not anti-gay" but are simply following Scripture.  In fact, Joyner said, what has happened is that "the gay agenda has gone to such an extreme" that gay activists have become one of the "most intolerant groups not only in America, but in the world."  And now Americans have become fed up with... Donald Trump spoke today at Liberty University where he delivered the Christian message: "Don’t let people take advantage ... Get even." Robert Knight says "we're right on the edge of losing our constitutional republic" and if Obama gets re-elected it "might just push us over that edge." Phyllis Schlafly, Dick Bott and David Lane will all be out on the campaign trail in Missouri tomorrow stumping for Todd Akin. Matt Barber warns that "America is keeping her head above water; but barely. The upcoming elections may... MORE

Ex-gay activist and Focus on the Family analyst Jeff Johnston is launching a new group, with Focus’s blessing, focused on sexual orientation conversion therapy in the wake of criticisms of the tactic by Exodus International’s Alan Chambers. Johnston says that Satan is responsible for the “sexual brokenness” found in gays and lesbians and that their sexual orientation is a result of poor parenting and molestation. Today, Johnston posted on an article on Focus’s political arm CitizenLink where he mocked homophobia and heteronormativity as rare, ridiculous and... MORE

On "WallBuilders Live" today, Richard Land was discussing the dangers of liberal Christianity when he made the declared that "liberalism kills," meaning that churches or denominations that embrace more liberal theologies will inevitably lose members and collapse. David Barton was particularly enamored with Land's axiom and declared that they "ought to emblazon [it] on everything we have":  I tell you what, Richard gave a two word axiom that we ought to emblazon on everything we have: liberalism kills. Liberalism kills, whether it's in the family; whether... MORE
