Brian’s post today about Pat Robertson’s absurd theory of AIDS transmission – that gay men wear sharp rings in order to cut people they shake hands with and deliberately infect them with HIV – seems like something out of another era.
In fact, it seems like something out of Robertson’s own past.
The early days of the AIDS epidemic coincided with the high point of Robertson’s career, as he ran for the Republican nomination for the presidency. In the late 1980s and into the early 1990s, Robertson was an outspoken opponent of the federal funding of AIDS... MORE

Today, the Washington Post published a piece on Corey Booker, the Democratic candidate for the US Senate from New Jersey, in which Booker acknowledged that the fact that he is not married has lead to speculation that he is gay.
Booker wouldn't confirm anything, but stated that such speculation is perfectly fine with him and, in fact, said "some part of me thinks it’s wonderful. Because I want to challenge people on their homophobia. I love seeing on Twitter when someone says I’m gay, and I say, 'So what does it matter if I am? So be it. I hope you are not voting for... MORE

On this weekend’s edition of Sons of Liberty Radio, hosts Bradlee Dean and Jake McMillan claimed that gay people are responsible for half of all murders committed in large US cities, among other crimes.
After Dean said that homosexuality and abortion are the “last two stages that a country takes before God judges that country,” McMillan charged that “half of the murders in large cities were committed by homosexuals; thirty-three percent of child abuse cases were committed by homosexuals; half of the foster children molestations were done by homosexuals.”

Religious Right talk show host Janet Mefferd is using an attempted murder case in Jacksonville, Florida, to attack protections for the transgender community. On her Facebook page, Mefferd links to a New York Daily News article about how “a Florida man tried to kill a 9-year-old-girl in a Best Buy bathroom,” but was stopped after a customer heard the screams and informed the staff.
Although the suspect is not transgender and Jacksonville does not have a policy on sexual orientation and gender identity protections, Mefferd claims that the case is evidence that transgender-inclusive... MORE

Last week we noted that Glenn Beck had started promoting a new conspiracy claiming that a racist, anti-gay black nationalist Department of Homeland Security employee named Ayo Kimathi was responsible for the shortage of ammunition in this country, because he was buying it all up for the government in preparation for a coming race war.
Beck insisted that Kimathi was "in charge of buying all of the bullets for the Department of Homeland Security," which, as we pointed out, was totally false.
Kimathi's actual position was as a "Small Business Specialist" within the ICE... MORE

UPDATE: Robertson's CBN yanked our video off YouTube, but you can still watch it here on Daily Motion. It was also taken down by Vimeo:
UPDATE II: A third party (we wonder who!) flagged the Dailymotion video for "infringing upon [their] intellectual property rights." It is now available on Flickr.com.
UPDATE III: YouTube has restored the video in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Today on the 700 Club, Pat Robertson told co-host Terry Meeuwsen that gay men in cities like San Francisco attempt to spread HIV/AIDS to others by cutting them with a special ring... MORE

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) filled in for Tony Perkins on the Family Research Council's Washington Watch radio program yesterday where he interviewed ultraconservative activist Alan Keyes. He reminisced about voting for Keyes for president and different gatherings they both addressed, a conversation which naturally progressed into a discussion of how elitist forces threaten to cull the world’s population and turn everyone into slaves.
Keyes, who thinks gay marriage will lead to the “murder of the masses” and believes Obama’s gun policies are part of his plan to have... MORE

Bryan Fischer began his radio program yesterday with a discussion of Psalm 111; in particular, the verse that states that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding."
"That is the basic divide in our culture," Fischer claimed, asserting that liberals cannot be wise or have any understanding because they do not fear the Lord.
"We talk everyday for two hours about how clueless people on the left are. Why is that? Because they do not have the fear of the Lord. You cannot be clued in, you can't be... MORE

Larry Klayman thinks that the Obama presidency is no different, if not worse, than the Nazi occupation of countries like France, and that anti-Obama activists may need to form “a government in exile.”
The Judicial Watch founder, who has fantasized about a coup to oust Obama, writes in his column yesterday that Obama’s opponents may need to take a page from Charles de Gaulle during World War II and establish an alternative government since “our nation in 2013 has indeed been seized by modern-day Nazis, whose methods of enslaving us are far less transparent and...
