Rick Scarborough, who once lead the charge to eliminate the filibuster, is now vehemently opposed to the elimination of the filibuster.
FRC prays that God will "raise up leaders in each state, 'blue' and 'red' to champion
righteous public policy and defeat policies that coerce businesses, schools, military, non-profit groups, families and individuals to do
what the Scriptures call evil." Speaking of FRC, the RNC has hired a former FRC staffer to serve as
liaison to Tea Party and Religious Right groups. Larry Klayman's call to revolution is too radical even... MORE

This afternoon, the Texas State Board of Education gave its final approval to a set of biology textbooks that include scientifically sound teachings about evolution, rebuffing a campaign by creationists to include “biblical principles” in science texts. However, the board delayed its approval of one of the books until a board of experts reviews the complaints of anti-evolutionists.
The Texas Freedom Network, which has been fighting to keep science in the state’s science textbooks, called the vote a “huge win for science education” and noted that “... MORE

Liberty Counsel's Matt Barber was the guest on Rick Wiles' End Times radio program yesterday where the two discussed the dangers of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which Barber warned would criminalize Christianity while it simultaneously legalizes sexual harassment:
ENDA, the euphemistically titled the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, and it's a euphemism because it does exactly what it purports to prevent and that is that it codifies into law workplace discrimination. ENDA is effectively the criminalization of the Judeo-Christian sexual ethic.

RWW's Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.
Next time you turn on “The Walking Dead,” be warned that it may actually be part of a government plot to condition Americans to accept mass killings. That is, if Obama doesn’t get away with his plan to nuke America first!
Check out what we learned from some of the “brightest” minds of the far-right this week:
5. Next Stop: Military Coup
Even though the National Review once demanded the Senate change its rules on the filibustering of judicial nominees... MORE

Earlier this month, WorldNetDaily editor Joseph Farah wrote that “millions of tea-party activists are just waiting, like me, for an invitation to come to Washington to show the world some Americans still care about the principles upon which the nation was founded.” He got his wish with Larry Klayman’s event where, Klayman said, “millions” would “occupy Washington D.C.” for a “Second American Revolution.” Farah even spoke at the rally.
Of course, the rally was a complete bust. Only around one hundred Tea Party activists showed up, far from... MORE

No, former National Review columnist John Derbyshire hasn’t seen 12 Years a Slave, but he knows it is a bad movie because it is unfair to the poor, persecuted and maligned slave-owners of the antebellum South. In his latest racist column, Derbyshire calls 12 Years a Slave “Abolitionist Porn” and chides the film for not including what he sees as the happier instances of slavery, such as one slaveholder who only doled out beatings “once in a while.”
“Plainly there was more to American race slavery that white masters brutalizing resentful Negroes,”... MORE

Yesterday, after an extended and unbending campaign of obstruction by Senate Republicans, Democrats in the Senate invoked the so-called “nuclear option” and reduced the threshold for confirming most presidential nominees to a simple majority.
Judson Phillips, president of Tea Party Nation, responded by urging Senate Republicans, if they take control of the Senate after next year’s elections, to “summarily reject” “every one of Obama’s appointees for everything” – a policy that would eventually bring federal agencies and courts to a... To commemorate the 150thanniversary of the Gettysburg Address on Wednesday, famed filmmaker Ken Burns asked President Obama read aloud Abraham Lincoln’s first draft of the speech. But things aren’t always as they seem! Immediately after Burns’ video was released, we learned from the right-wing media that because Lincoln’s initial speech — the one that Burns asked Obama to read — did not contain the word “God,” that Obama must have somehow traveled back in time to edit the word out of the speech himself.
Count the Family Research Council’s... MORE

A few weeks ago, we posted a clip of David Barton and Kenneth Copeland asserting that those who serve in the military are "ministers of God" and therefore are to be "esteemed and venerated" for their service. As such, Copeland asserted that soldiers should never suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder because the Bible says that they are to be "guiltless before the Lord" and Barton wholeheartedly agreed.
Needless to say, this has generated a bit of a backlash which has now prompted Barton to issue a statement claiming, of course, that his words were... MORE
