Family Research Council senior fellow Ken Blackwell yesterday linked the Isla Vista mass killings to marriage equality laws, which he claimed are destroying the culture. Speaking with FRC president Tony Perkins on “Washington Watch,” Blackwell blamed the shooting on “the crumbling of the moral foundation of the country” and “the attack on natural marriage and the family.” “When these fundamental institutions are attacked and destroyed and weakened and abandoned, you get what we are now seeing,” Blackwell said, arguing that people who are “... Rick Santorum is busy traveling the country explaining to Republicans how they can win elections by embracing the principles outlined in his new book, “Blue Collar Conservative.” And what better way to rebrand the image of the GOP by appearing on the “700 Club” with far-right firebrand Pat Robertson? The two failed presidential candidates bonded over their purported appeal to working class voters. Santorum argued that working families are abandoning the Democratic Party over “the destruction of the culture that the left is doing and the destruction of the family... MORE

In the wake of the murder spree carried out by Elliot Rodger, driven by his deeply and viciously misogynistic views, a #YesAllWomen hashtag was started on Twitter to highlight the fact that society largely turns a blind eye to the fact that women experience various forms of harassment, threats, and discrimination on a regular basis. Glenn Beck, shockingly, was not particularly moved by the effort as he mockingly read some of the tweets on his television program last night and called it nothing more than "a chance for some good, old fashioned man-bashing": MORE

The anti-LGBT group MassResistance is out with a new “report” denouncing Gay-Straight Alliances in schools, warning that the clubs are “emotionally poisonous and physically dangerous to vulnerable kids.” The group also suggests that adult supervisors of GSAs trick kids with “serious psychological issues” into thinking that they are gay. “They take troubled kids and tell them that if they feel ‘different’ or that they ‘don’t fit in’ then they’re probably really ‘gay’ or ‘transgender,’... A few months ago, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed a bill designed to protect businesses that discriminate against gay customers in the name of religious liberty. In response, activists started a "We Don't Discriminate" campaign, encouraging businesses to post stickers declaring that all customers are welcome in their stores in an effort to take "a public stance against discrimination and for equal rights": Of course, this response has infuriated Gina Miller, the content editor for BarbWire, who declares that the "Alphabet Soup Perversity Brigade" is... Allen West just so happened to be seated next to someone on a plane who knew the "ground truth" about what really happened in Benghazi and he told him all about it! Whenever something that the Religious Right supports gets banned from Facebook for violating hate speech standards, they throw a fit and scream "persecution." Todd Starnes is unafraid to ask the hard questions: "Does Google Hate America?" Michael Peroutka donated a dinosaur skeleton worth over a million dollars to the Creation Museum. Finally, "Duck Dynasty's" Phil... MORE

Right-wing activists are rallying behind Florida state Rep. Charles Van Zant, the GOP politician who warned that Common Core will turn children gay. Van Zant pointed to Florida’s education contract with American Institutes for Research (AIR), a group that produces material focusing on LGBT youth. Those materials, however, are not part of the contract with Florida, and in any case it would be absurd to claim that LGBT-inclusive resources would “attract every one of your children to become as homosexual,” as Van Zant did. In an email alert today, an alliance of Tea Party and... MORE

The only thing more painful than reading Todd Starnes' dreadfully unfunny book is listening to him recite "jokes" from it, as he did last week while hosting a panel on religious persecution at the Watchmen on the Wall conference. Starnes, who always goes to great lengths to assure his audience that he remains a Southerner at heart despite the fact that he lives in the Park Slope neighborhood of New York City, told the gathering of pastors that the idea for this new book, "God Less America," came to him one day while sitting at brunch in Brooklyn when he realized that... Larry Tomczak, pastor and pundit, celebrated Memorial Day with an open letter questioning whether the country’s Commander-in-Chief, President Barack Obama, is really a Christian.  Of course, implicit in Tomczak’s letter is his belief that only the right kind of Christian, according to his standards, is fit to be president of the U.S. The letter was distributed by BarbWire, Matt Barber’s home for commentary from the far right, which topped the letter with a photo of Obama in front of what appears to be a Koran, with a Communist hammer and sickle over one shoulder and a...
