Allen West Doubts Tammy Duckworth's Loyalty To Country, Angry About Democratic Picks For Benghazi Special Committee

Former congressman Allen West is angry about the Democratic picks for the latest House panel investigating the 2012 Benghazi attack. Speaking yesterday with Janet Mefferd, West criticized Elijah Cummings, Adam Smith, Adam Schiff, Linda Sanchez and Tammy Duckworth, the Democratic lawmakers picked to fill the party’s five slots on the 12-member GOP-led “special committee.”

West especially raised doubts about Duckworth, a veteran who lost both of her legs and the use of her right arm in the Iraq War, raising suspicions about her loyalty to the country.

“Tammy Duckworth, you know I just don’t know where her loyalties lie, for her to have been a veteran and a wounded warrior for the United States Army, she should know that this is not the right thing and hopefully she will remember the oath of office that she took as an Army officer and not the allegiance I guess she believes she has to the liberal progressives of the Democrat [sic] party,” West said.

He also attacked Sanchez for the “whiny way that she has,” called Smith a “geeky little debater” and said Cummings “should not be on that committee.”

Paranoia-Rama: 'Dr. Karl Rove,' Beyoncé's Demons & Your Daily Distraction From Benghazi

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

While you may have been busy reading about the rally to overthrow the Obama administration, the right-wing conspiracy machine was in fine fashion this week:

5. Nigerian Kidnappings Are Just A Distraction From Benghazi

Allen West, who once was actually an elected member of Congress, thinks all the attention to Boko Haram’s kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls is a bit “fishy.” Why? Benghazi, obviously: “Are we witnessing an Obama ‘Wag the Dog’ moment with Boko Haram in Nigeria? I say yes. Consider all the scandals facing the Obama administration, especially Benghazi and the Select Committee.”

The Republican politician and Fox News contributor previously thought the controversy surrounding Don Sterling’s racist remarks was also ginned up to distract from the 2012 Benghazi attack.

Erik Rush, a columnist for WorldNetDaily, went one step farther and alleged that Obama is “ideologically (and perhaps covertly) supporting” Boko Haram’s actions in order to distract the public and the media from Benghazi.

4. Alex Jones Is On The Case

After Rep. Tim Murphy, a Republican from Pennsylvania, introduced a bill that sought to reform the way the federal government addresses mental health services, Alex Jones’ website InfoWars dubbed it a “diabolical legislative package.” InfoWars pundit Jon Rappoport said that the legislation would require almost all children to take “psychiatric meds.”

If it’s fully implemented, you’ll witness a sea-change in society, in the coming decade. Diagnoses of mental disorders and consequent drugging, already widely in effect, will become as common and ordinary as people eating at fast food restaurants.

And the population will eventually forget things were ever different.

“Hey, can I borrow your Valproate? My son took my bottle because he ran out.”

Ultimately, Rappoport believes the bill will give the federal government “a monopoly of the mind.”

3. Karl Rove Is Just Asking The Question: Does Hillary Clinton Have Brain Damage?

While many conservative activists claimed Hillary Clinton faked a concussion to get out of congressional testimony over Benghazi attack, now Karl Rove has reportedly suggested that the former Secretary of State has brain damage.

While Rove denied making the reported comments… he demanded that the media ask questions about Clinton’s health anyway – and if they don’t get the answers they like, then it’s probably a conspiracy.

Of course, “Bush’s Brain” has quite a history of spreading rumors that his political opponents have mental health issues. Who knew that Rove had the medical qualifications to talk about such issues? And if you don’t take his baseless accusations seriously, then you are just a biased liberal journalist!

2. Is Beyoncé Possessed By Demons?

Not willing to wait for “Dr. Rove’s” diagnosis, Religious Right radio host Kevin Swanson forged ahead and asked if Beyoncé Knowles is possessed by demons.

Swanson wouldn’t be the first person to allege that the musician is possessed, as American Family Association spokesman Bryan Fischer made a similar charge back in January.

1. Glenn Beck vs. The World

Yesterday Glenn Beck explained the reason the Obama administration has all but ignored him since he left Fox News: Because he is a modern-day Martin Luther King Jr. And Dietrich Bonhoeffer. And Nelson Mandela. And Obi Wan.

This Edition Of Paranoia-Rama Is Just A Distraction From Benghazi

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

In a desperate attempt to distract from the GOP’s sad and dishonest effort to turn the 2012 Benghazi attack into a political sideshow, we have decided to post Paranoia-Rama today, as we always do on Fridays.

5. Obamacare Death Lists

It’s no wonder that Glenn Beck wants to recruit Rep. Louie Gohmert to run for the U.S. Senate, as the Texas GOP congressman recently warned that health care reform will lead to death lists.

While appearing on The Blaze, Beck’s TV network, Gohmert said that in order to preserve Obamacare, the Obama administration will have to “put people on lists” where they will “die waiting to get the treatment and care.”

“This is where socialized medicine always goes,” he lamented.

Back in March, Gohmert similarly claimed that as a result of Obamacare, “we [will] see the morality rate start coming down, you die earlier, not because it’s an actual death panel but because you don’t get the treatment.”

4. Sharia Law In The Military

Yesterday, more than a year after he absurdly claimed that the Obama administration has issued a “litmus test for leadership in the military” based on whether prospective leaders “will fire on U.S. citizens or not,” activist Garrow “revealed” another dubious Obama military litmus test: whether service members “support” the “islamic [sic] ideology.”

The "new" Litmus Test of all senior officials of the Federal Government and their agencies.

As many will remember (except those who support Obama) I broke the news on January 20th of 2013 that senior members of the military were being asked a "litmus test" question to determine if they would be allowed to continue in their positions. That question determined if their loyalties lay with Obama.
Well it is now almost a year and a half later and I am now assured by many that the new criteria for senior leadership is their attitude towards and support of muslims [sic] and the islamic [sic] ideology.

Your Christian nation is now fully at the service of islam [sic] and its hateful ideology. The treason is complete and utter in its depth and breadth. Mark this date, May 1, 2014, the day that America was warned that the muslim-marxist [sic] in the White House Barack Hussein Obama is remaking the public service and government agencies into Sharia compliant entities as the next step in the subjugation of America to islam [sic].

- Dr. Jim Garrow -

please share this everywhere - the warning must be given - we are betrayed

3. Donald Sterling Scandal Meant To Distract From Benghazi

Since GOP activists failed in their truly bizarre campaign to link LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling to the Democratic Party (it turns out he is a registered Republican), they have now moved on to attempting to link the controversy over Sterling’s racist remarks to Benghazi.

Fox News contributor and former GOP congressman Allen West denounced the media’s coverage of the Sterling scandal as an attempt to cover up President Obama’s “incessant lies, deceit and abject failures,” particularly about the Benghazi attack.

Media Matters reports that West cited Sterling’s racist remarks in a Fox News Radio interview to call for greater public uproar over Benghazi: “The outrage of the public seems to be totally focused on Mr. Sterling but, you know, you've got this thing with Benghazi and we have an even bigger lie, an even bigger deceit, which is even more impactful on the country that no one is really caring about.”

2. Mass Grave For Cliven Bundy Militia

After suggesting that the military rise up against Obama in response to the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, Gordon Klingenschmitt is now warning that the government may begin digging a mass grave as it purportedly prepares to murder Cliven Bundy and his allied militiamen.

“Mass graves dug by the government, this time for the cattle, but next time, maybe for the cowboys, right?” he asked. “I suspect that in some months to come, there's going to be some secret mission by the feds to go in there and punish the people who are standing for freedom.”

1. Bundy Psy-ops

The Oath Keepers, an extremist right-wing group, is attempting to distance itself from a rumor it started that the Obama administration was imminently launching a drone strike against Bundy’s ranch.

The founder of Oath Keepers, Stewart Rhodes, reportedly claimed that “Eric Holder approved a hot drone strike on the Bundy ranch within 48 hours.”

But a new Oath Keepers memo blames President Obama for the Oath Keepers’ own baseless claim, insisting that the drone rumor was actually an Obama “psy-ops” mission to discredit and undermine the Oath Keepers’ presence at Bundy’s ranch. The group says they were merely “indicating that a drone attack was at least ‘possible.’”

“Oath Keepers is tremendously happy that nothing happened and that this was a bad tip, a piece of ‘dis-info’, a ‘psy-op,’” a group spokesman said. “A typical FBI psy-op would plant ‘leaders’ in every militia they could infiltrate. What those sorts of FBI agents or surrogates do is always ‘handled.’”

Thanks for clarifying!

Of course the Bunkerland was filled with plenty of other crazy rants, including one by militia leader Mike Vanderboegh who warned of a “civil war” to protect the Bundy ranch (and also threatened to have Harry Reid’s “balls ripped off”).

Allen West Accuses Media Of Using Donald Sterling Scandal To Distract From Benghazi

Former congressman Allen West thinks the recent media coverage and outrage about Donald Sterling’s racist remarks is allowing President Obama to get away with his own “incessant lies, deceit and abject failures,” such as the supposed Benghazi “scandal.”

Unsurprisingly, West wouldn’t be the first conservative to link the Sterling scandal to the administration’s response to the Benghazi attack.

Where is the cultural, public outrage over a behind closed door comment such as referring to the State of Israel as an “apartheid state?” Probably most of America doesn’t know who said it or even what “aparteid” [sic] means.

Or how about the outrage that should have come when our own president leaned over to then-Russian President Medvedev sayng [sic], “Tell Putin that after my reelection I will have more flexibility” and of course Medvedev said, “I will tell Vladimir.” And now we know what that “flexibility” has allowed.

Aren’t those “private” chats reflective of behavior that is dangerous for the United States?

Or how about the lies and deceit of President Obama on healthcare and of course Benghazi, which we now know a video had nothing to do with.

Has our culture devolved to the point that the private statements of an NBA owner draws more outrage than the lies and deceit of the President of the United States?

Donald Sterling’s behavior is despicable, but so is that of President Barack Hussein Obama — and whose abhorrent behavior has more impact on our country?

The difference is that the media lead us along like sheep to the slaughter, turning us into reactionary, shallow thinking, low information voters along the way. We know more about Sterling than Benghazi — or the IRS scandal.

Sterling is a jerk, an unlikeable fella, but is he guilty of a crime that demands his property be confiscated? Uh, no.

We’re told however that Obama is a likable fella –regardless of the incessant lies, deceit and abject failures. What is happening to American culture and values?

I don’t like jerks, but I really don’t like jerks who are liars, do you?

Paranoia-Rama: Bundy Ranch Showdown, 'Gay Jihadists' & Fox News's Fear Of Muslim Voters

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

On top of all the dizzying anti-government rhetoric emanating from the Bundy Ranch fiasco, the right-wing still had time this week for extremist and bizarre claims about gays, Muslim-Americans and Hillary Clinton.

5. Bundy Ranch Rallying Cry

Fox News, Tea Party groups and the Koch brothers-backed Americans for Prosperity have become major cheerleaders for Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and his allied militias in their lawless stance against Bureau of Land Management, consistently citing debunked claims that the BLM is working on behalf of a solar energy project led by Harry Reid and a Chinese firm.

Fox News host Sean Hannity hinted that the government was trying to murder Bundy, and his network colleague Todd Starnes suggested that violence would have been an appropriate response to the authorities who confronted Bundy after his defiance of several court rulings.

Conservative activists and commentators have compared Bundy to Rosa Parks and Mahatma Gandhi and likened the militia members to the colonists who fought the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Astoundingly, the violent rhetoric of Bundy and his supporters was even too much for Glenn Beck.

4. The ‘Gay Jihad’

Liberty Counsel’s Matt Barber, whose over-the-top columns are so unbelievable that he may in fact be deliberately trying to embarrass the conservative movement and undermine it from within, this week warns that “‘gay’ jihadists,” along with the “power class of cultural Marxists and left-wing statists,” are pushing an “anti-Christian, sexually anarchist sociopolitical agenda.”

“Most people are naturally repulsed by the mechanics of homosexual conduct,” Barber writes, warning that their “filthy practice” is “the squalid, unnatural and feculent abuse of both the reproductive and digestive systems. Yuck.”

Therefore, he warns that gays need to take over public schools and the media in order to “indoctrinate” the public against their better instincts to oppose gay rights.

But Barber goes on to lament that most people aren’t as smart or brave as he is, leaving them easy prey of the gay “jihad.”

3. America’s Star Of David Badge?

Eagle Forum’s national political chairwoman Sandy McDade says that while she wants the governor to require people show a photo ID in order to vote, she opposes the REAL ID Act because it will turn America into Nazi Germany.

McDade, who also heads Eagle Forum’s Louisiana chapter, testified at a Louisiana legislative hearing on Tuesday against a REAL ID compliant driver’s license bill, warning that a gold star on the license is reminiscent of the Star of David badge that the Nazis forced Jewish people to wear.

2. Birth of the Shoe Truthers

It was only a matter of time before conservative activists conjured up a conspiracy theory about the incident in which a woman threw a shoe at Hillary Clinton while she was delivering a speech in Las Vegas. Writing for Fox News commentator Bernard Goldberg’s blog, Arthur Louis speculated that “Hillary arranged to have the shoe thrown at her” in order to “make her seem presidential.”

Herman Cain, who at one point was the frontrunner for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, suggested that Clinton engaged in “fakery,” and tweeted an article from his website’s editor-in-chief, Dan Calabrese, about how “only a completely naive fool” would believe that Clinton didn’t stage the incident.

In the article, Calabrese carefully analyzed Clinton’s movements when the shoe was thrown in her direction, concluding that she had a “snarky grin on her face” and did not have “a natural reflex action.” “Listen carefully to the inflection,” he wrote. “I'm just asking: Did that sound sincere?”

Rush Limbaugh also weighed in, saying that he wouldn’t reject the “shoe truther” conspiracy theory because it all could have been a ploy to discredit conservatives who criticize the former secretary of state’s handling of the Benghazi attack.

So, it should come as no surprise that less than 24 hours after Chelsea Clinton announced that she is pregnant with her first child, we already have Clinton baby truthers.

1. Muslims Can Vote? What A Scandal!

Of course, Fox News hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Steve Doocy believe that a new group working to increase the civic involvement of the Muslim-American community is a dangerous threat to the US, so they invited former congressman Allen West to spread insane fears about the Muslim Brotherhood taking over the country.

Because only to Fox News is an effort to increase voting and participation in public life an attempt “to wage jihad from within.”

Allen West Takes To Fox News To Attack Muslim-Americans For Voting, Engaging In Politics

Allen West joined Fox News hosts Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Steve Doocy today to warn that the Muslim Brotherhood is establishing itself as a US political party as part of its goal to destroy America.

The notoriously Islamophobic former congressman told Fox News that the formation of the US Council of Muslim Organizations, which was recently established to increase Muslim-American political and community engagement, is in fact creating a Muslim Brotherhood-aligned “political party.”

Hasselbeck introduced the segment by speculating that voters will soon have “Muslim Brotherhood” as an option on the ballot, while Doocy feared that the US Council of Muslim Organizations is trying “to wage jihad from within.”

West attacked Muslim-American groups for purported connections to the Holy Land Foundation trial. As we have noted, “in 2010, a federal judge found that prosecutors had violated the Fifth Amendment rights of a number of American Islamic groups by naming them in connection with the trial.”

Hasselbeck: When you head into the voting booth, what do you see on that ballot? Democrat, Republican…Muslim Brotherhood? We are one step closer to that reality, according to our next guest.

Doocy: Our next guest says radical Islamists are busy building a voting bloc to sneak their political agenda into the American system, their goal to wage jihad from within. Retired Army Lt. Col. Allen West is a Fox News contributor joins us today from Boynton Beach, Florida.

West: Good morning, how are you doing Steve and Elisabeth?

Doocy: We’re doing okay now until we’re going to find out about what you’re suggesting is going on in American politics, tell us about this.

West: Well you have the formulation of the US Council of Muslim Organizations and it’s very disconcerting because back in 1991 there was a document that was written and it was called the explanatory memorandum for the strategic goal of the group or the Brotherhood in North America, and during an FBI raid in 2007 in Northern Virginia this document was uncovered, translated into English and we’ve come to find out it’s the blueprint, the campaign strategy for the Muslim Brotherhood in the United States of America.

The groups that are forming this new Council of Muslim Organizations like CAIR, the Council for [sic] American-Islamic Relations, the Muslim American Society, the Islamic Society of North America, all of them have ties back to the Muslim Brotherhood. As a matter of fact, CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist funding case, the Holy Land Foundation case, in the United States of America. Recently, CAIR has gone out and protested against the documentary ‘The Honor Diaries’ being shown and campaigned heavily against Ayaan Hirsi Ali at Brandeis University to get that honorary degree. But now they are forming some type of political party, a voting bloc—

Doocy: In this country.

West: That’s right, to institutionalize policies that favor them.

Allen West Says Eric Holder 'Cried Like A Little Baby'

When conservative talk show host Steve Malzberg asked Allen West yesterday why the “race card is being played” by Democrats, the former congressmen responded by railing against Attorney General Eric Holder’s recent speech to the National Action Network.

“To have an attorney general who is clearly in the wrong on so many issues to run over to the National Action Network of Al Sharpton and cry like a little baby that, you know, ‘they don’t like me because I’m black,’ that’s despicable and disgusting and really that’s a slap in the face to every single black person in the United States of America who has achieved any great accomplishments,” West said.

Of course, West himself has previously claimed that liberals don’t like him because he’s black and argued that Holder and President Obama “are the most vile and disgusting racists” in America.

Allen West Threatens To Join Third Party Over Jeb Bush's 'Act Of Love' Immigration Remarks

Speaking with conservative talk show host Janet Mefferd yesterday, former congressman Allen West said he may consider joining a third party over the issue of immigration reform.

After Mefferd asked West whether he would consider joining a third party, the one-term Florida congressman lashed out at his home state’s former governor Jeb Bush for stating in an interview that immigrants who entered the country illegally did so as an “act of love” for their families.

“I believe that when we get to the point when the parties have failed the American people, absolutely,” West said. “The American people are getting fed up with what they see and what they hear each and every day. Case in point, look at our former governor of Florida down here, Jeb Bush who just came out and said illegal immigration is an act of love. An act of love is to take care of the American people who are suffering high unemployment, their wages are being depressed; they don’t need to be told, ‘Hey you need to step out of line and we’re going to fast-track these people.’”

“One side wants votes, the other side wants cheap labor,” he added.

West: Hagel Is A 'Traitor,' Obama Only Helps People On Welfare

Former congressman Allen West is furious about the announcement of new defense budget cuts, calling them “unconscionable” and part of “Barack Obama’s game plan to weaken the United States of America.”

In an interview with the American Family Association’s Sandy Rios today, West called defense secretary Chuck Hagel a “turncoat” and a “traitor to the men and women in uniform.”

The Tea Party leader told Rios that the Obama administration wants to intentionally harm military service members and their families because they are “not their constituency.”

“Their constituency is basically the welfare nanny state, their constituency are the people who they can get hooked on government largesse, their constituency is the growing poverty class and also the growing food stamp class,” West said.

“American strength is a stench to them,” he added, claiming Obama went around the world “apologizing for America’s strength.”

West later railed against “progressive socialists” for their opposition to bans on gays in the military and women in combat roles.

Right Wing Targets 'Moral Mondays' Organizer

Right-wing groups and media are waging a concerted attack on Rev. William Barber, organizer of this weekend’s “Moral March” in Raleigh, North Carolina.

North Carolina’s politics lurched to the far right after multimillionaire Art Pope poured money into a far-right takeover of the state government.  A tidal wave of horrible legislation last year attacked voting rights, public education, health care, and unemployment insurance -- and raising taxes on poor families to give tax breaks to a handful of the state’s wealthiest people. Basically, if you want to see what unfettered Tea Party governance looks like, look at North Carolina.

In response, a huge statewide coalition led by Barber, the president of the state NAACP, organized “Moral Mondays” protests to draw attention to the legislature’s extremism. State GOP officials initially dismissed the movement, with one legislator deriding “Moron Mondays” and others blaming the protests on “outside agitators.” But the protests grew to thousands, with more than 900 people, the vast majority of them from North Carolina, being arrested.

The progressive Forward Together coalition drew tens of thousands of people to Raleigh this weekend for a “Moral March,” which kicked off a year of organizing and voter engagement. This progressive mobilization has generated excitement among progressive activists nationally, and has made Barber a target of the right wing.

In recent weeks, Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren have invited Sen. Tim Scott, Allen West, and Star Parker – all right-wing African Americans – to attack Barber for comments he made suggesting  that Scott is a ventriloquist dummy for the Tea Party.

In the days leading up to Saturday’s march, the state’s Republican Chairman Claude Pope slammed Barber for using "inflammatory and offensive" rhetoric. And Tami Fitzgerald from the North Carolina Values Coalition snarked, “The so-called Moral March on Raleigh is anything but moral. It is spearheaded by groups that support abortion and homosexual marriage.” I am not aware that Fitzgerald has raised moral objections to right-wing state officials’ attacks on poor families’ access to health care.

At a press conference after the March, Tea Party activist David Webb, a Fox and Breitbart contributor, badgered Barber about whether he owed Scott and other black conservatives an apology. No apology was forthcoming. The unruffled Barber said his job and calling are “to speak the truth about public policies, policies that hurt millions of people.”

Barber said his critique was based on policy, not personality. “While some people may choose to get caught up on a metaphor,” Barber said, “the real indignation and upsetness should be over the regressive agenda” and over policies that are causing “real-life suffering and death.”

If folk want to get upset, get upset over the denying of Medicaid expansion, get upset over voting to reject unemployment benefits for laid off workers who are Republican, who are Democrat, who are black, who are white. Get upset over reduced access to public education and funding of it….and get upset over the attacks to turn back voting rights that were won through blood, sweat and tears.”

West: 'The Left Tries To Win The Women's Vote By Talking From The Waist Down'

On Friday, Allen West spoke with Steve Malzberg where he defended Mike Huckabee's recent comment by declaring that "the Left tries to win the women's vote by talking from the waist down" while Republicans seek to reach the hearts and minds of female voters.

Asserting that Democrats want the government to be "the sugar daddy" and replace men, West said Democrats have been "caught guilty as always" and are responding by attacking Huckabee. He then went on to claim that the Left remains utterly silent when women like Malala Yousafzai are abused and attacked by the Taliban before declaring that "I'm going to be very blunt: the Left tries to win the women's vote by talking from the waist down":

Allen West Will 'Definitely' Run For Office Again In 2016

Allen West appeared on Jesse Lee Peterson's radio program yesterday where he vowed that he will "definitely" make another run for public office.

Claiming that he lost his re-election bid in 2012 because Democrats and Republicans conspired to remove him from office because they knew he was "a threat to us and our business as usual way of ruining this great country," West took pride in being a target and declared that he was not going away.

When Peterson asked West if he had any plans to run for office again in the future, West responded that "oh yeah, I will definitely come back ... In the 2016 cycle, we'll look to getting back in and running myself. Whatever God would have me do":

Paranoia-Rama: Obama's 'Brown Shirts,' Homophobia In Russia & The Threat Of Demon Pot

RWW’s Paranoia-Rama takes a look at five of the week’s most absurd conspiracy theories from the Right.

Old conspiracy theories about gays and lesbians preying on children and President Obama confiscating guns and targeting white people live on in right-wing circles. The same goes with fears about marijuana, as exorcist/GOP politician Gordon Klingenschmitt has his own feelings about “Reefer Madness.”

5. ‘The Brown Shirts Are Next’

Latching onto the right-wing conspiracy that President Obama is using health care reform to create his own army modeled after Adolf Hitler’s Brown Shirts, South Carolina US Senate candidate Lee Bright alleged that Obama is turning the IRS into a paramilitary force to implement Obamacare.

The Republican state senator seems to be unaware that the IRS practices of training certain agents in law enforcement operations didn’t start under Obama but in the 1920s. File this under Obama Derangement Syndrome.

4. Obamacare Is Coming For Your Guns

In a totally not-crazy email entitled “All Hell is Breaking Loose!,” Gun Owners of America warned members that “Obama’s war on individual privacy” is lurching into doctors’ offices through Obamacare.

“[T]he ObamaCare program sets the stage for compiling a national health database which could be trolled by the FBI and could strip tens of millions of Americans of their Second Amendment rights,” the message reads, adding that an extension of emergency unemployment insurance should be tied to the gun lobby’s agenda: “Contact your Senators. Ask them to continue objecting to any Unanimous Consent request which would allow Obama's unemployment bill (S. 1845) to be passed, unless Senators are granted the right to vote on the anti-gun ObamaCare mandate.”

As we have noted earlier, the Affordable Care Act has a provision barring the creation of a possible gun owner database and prohibiting discrimination against gun owners, and the president’s executive actions similarly do not compel doctors to ask about gun ownership.

The gun lobby is now all but admitting that it uses conspiracy theories to encourage “fear buying” during election season.

3. ‘Disgusting Racist’ Obama ‘Despises’ White People

Former congressman Allen West is furious that the Obama administration is cautioning schools against using a “zero tolerance” disciplinary policy, a failing program that contributes to the school-to-prison pipeline. But according to West, this is all part of the Obama administration’s supposed “insanity” and anti-white racism.

“This is my clear and succinct message to white Americans. How long will it be before ‘you people’ realize you have elevated someone to the office of president who abjectly despises you — not to mention his henchman Holder,” West writes. “Combined they are the most vile and disgusting racists — not you.”

2. Anti-Gay Rhetoric Sweeps Russian Media

As the Religious Right’s love affair with Russia continues, it is no surprise to see Russian media using similar anti-gay rhetoric as US-based activists. The BBC reports today that Russia’s new laws targeting the gay community has “led to an upsurge in homophobia,” much of it encouraged by the pro-government media.

“Almost all [news reports on homosexuality] displayed an attitude that was either outright hostile or else noticeably negative towards homosexuals,” including claims linking homosexuality to child abuse and terrorism, or “gay jihad.” One prominent talk show host even warned that “Russia was in danger of being engulfed by a ‘homosexual sodomite tsunami’” while a Russian actor said he hopes to “shove all gays live into an oven.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin just today suggested that gay people are likely to prey on young people, telling gays and lesbians that they should visit Sochi for the Olympics but “just leave the kids alone, please.”

1. Demons Are In Your Pot

Religious Right activist Gordon Klingenschmitt recently launched his bid for the Colorado State House, and is already angry about the state’s legalization of marijuana following a successful 2012 voter referendum.

“There is a demonic spirit of drunkenness and it’s not just alcohol,” Klingenschmitt says, arguing that smoking pot “invites” demonic spirits into you. “Why do you think you have hallucinations? These spiritual visions that you have are not just biological; they’re actually demonic.”

Right Wing Leftovers - 1/14/14

  • When you think "Blue Collar Conservative," only one name comes to mind: Rick Santorum.
  • Gordon Klingenschmitt interviews Bob Adelmann, who thinks that opposition to fracking is part of an effort to create a One World Government.
  • Good point, Allen West: "This is my clear and succinct message to white Americans. How long will it be before “you people” realize you have elevated someone to the office of president who abjectly despises you — not to mention his henchman Holder. Combined they are the most vile and disgusting racists — not you."
  • Bryan Fischer says the key to ending any push for amnesty is to "dismantle the welfare state and eliminate the minimum wage."
  • Finally, this is an actual paragraph from an actual article in The Washington Times blaming President Obama for income inequality: "As President Obama prepares to lay out an economic agenda to address this disappointing state of affairs in his State of the Union address this month, his inability to stem long-term trends toward inequality are giving congressional Republicans little incentive to work with him as they push their recently developed agenda against poverty."
