7 Ways to Help Bring the November Blue Wave

7 Ways to Help Bring the November Blue Wave

We are only a few days away from the November election, and we need volunteers all over the country to bring a blue wave up and down the ballot. Whether or not you live in a state or district with competitive races that will decide the makeup of Congress, key governors’ races, or crucial state legislative races, there are things you can be doing to help create historic voter turnout and ensure progressive victories.

As part of our efforts to mobilize voters, People For the American Way has teamed up with MoveOn to plug our members into different volunteer activities taking place all over the country. Whether you sign up for one event or twenty, we need every bit of manpower to help turn this election to the left.

Canvass, Knock on Doors, and Join a Local Phone Bank

Plug in to on-the-ground volunteer opportunities in the competitive races near you.

1. Find a PFAW Next Up Victory Fund candidate near you and sign up to volunteer with their campaign

PFAW’s Next Up Victory Fund helps strong, diverse progressive candidates age 40 and under run and win critical local and state races, to build a deep bench of winning progressive candidates and expand progressive power from the ground up.

2. Join a volunteer “Wave” for a hotly contested congressional or gubernatorial race near you

This program, also hosted by our partners at MoveOn is focused on sending volunteers directly to candidate offices in groups, at events called “waves,” to demonstrate that the progressive movement is showing up in force this cycle. It’s a positive experience for participants who get to enjoy being part of a group, and a chance for volunteers to lift up issues important to them like health care, family separation, and the Supreme Court. Volunteers meet at a local coffee shop or other nearby venue to get to know each other and hand out swag, then travel together to the local campaign office to complete a voter contact shift.

3. Join a canvass to get out the youth vote with NextGen

This one is pretty self-explanatory. We’ve teamed up with our friends at NextGen to turn out progressive volunteers for a robust canvassing operation in several key races around the country.
