Biden Judges Cast Key Votes on Trump Immunity, Workers’ Rights, Environment, and Other Issues in February

In February, Biden judges cast key votes in nine significant appellate rulings across the country. These included the unanimous ruling by two Biden judges and a conservative judge rejecting former President Trump’s claim of absolute immunity from criminal prosecution, which the Supreme Court has accepted for review. Five other decisions concerned workers’ rights and environmental protection.

Each case is summarized below, along with a link to the full People For the American Way or PFAW Foundation blog entry on the decision and to the ruling itself. Links to previous People For analyses of Biden judge cases are also below. Such rulings by Biden judges demonstrate the importance to all of us of promptly nominating and confirming fair-minded judges.

The Biden White House and Senate Democrats have been working hard to rebalance the courts after four years of Trump-McConnell judges. While they are closing the gap with Trump, they have more to do. As of March 8, the Senate has confirmed 182 Biden judges, which puts Biden and Schumer 11 confirmations behind where Trump and McConnell were at this point four years ago (193 judges at this date).
