USA TODAY: Charlottesville sends message to the hearts of Americans from the heart of the old Confederacy

On November 26, 2021, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous published the following op-ed in USA Today:

The 2017 violence that erupted in Charlottesville, Virginia, has, for the past four years, made the city shorthand for white supremacist hatred and violence. Tuesday, a Charlottesville jury delivered a resounding rebuke to the purveyors of violent racism.

It was a welcome message to the hearts and minds of Americans from the heart of the old Confederacy.
