I am honored and excited to announce that on August 26th, I will be joining the King family, Reverend Al Sharpton, and other civil rights and movement leaders in speaking at the 60th March on Washington at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC. People For is proud to be a partner in this historic event, which is rightly being framed not as a commemoration, but a continuation of the mission that animated the first March on Washington 60 years ago.
We’ll be sure to share any press and other content as it comes out over the next few days, but for now here is an NBC article that mentions our involvement.
This march comes at a moment in time when we are at an inflection point in our democracy. Between Donald Trump facing 91 felony charges – including some for seeking to overthrow our system of government – the GOP largely giving him a pass, and fundamental rights and freedoms coming under attack every day in GOP-controlled states across the country, I’ve never been more thankful to be at an organization like ours where we have the tools and ability to fight back.
