Reverend Timothy McDonald, Chairman of African American Ministers In Action (AAMIA), a program of People For the American Way, today applauded President Obama for proposing a robust investment in American infrastructure that would create thousands of new jobs.

“Americans of all backgrounds are suffering in this recession,” said Reverend McDonald, “and we want our elected representatives to do what they can to help.  The plan that the president proposed today would make a real difference in the lives of thousands, even millions of Americans.”

President Obama’s plan, which would invest tens of billions of dollars in repairing roads, bridges and railways, would help to revive the nation’s sluggish economy while addressing critical infrastructure needs.

“In attacking this plan, the Republicans are showing where their real priorities lie,” said McDonald.  “Instead of participating in a real effort to repair our struggling economy, the GOP just wants to score cheap political points by opposing anything and everything.  Congress should move past the ugly partisanship of the tea-parties and pass a bill that will help put Americans back to work.”
